THEY SAID IT
“It looked to me like we were a little more tired than they were. But I think our guys did a good job of sucking it up when they were tired. It was a good bit warmer than the weather we were practicing in and certainly Athens was a lot cooler. But we fought through. And when you make a big play or two, all of a sudden that gives you a boost of energy.”
— Georgia coach Mark Richt, on the Bulldogs’ slow start
“I’m so proud of Jarvis. Jarvis has been such a breath of fresh air for us at Georgia. Coming from Southern Cal, sitting out a year and doing a super job rallying the scout team … We already knew he was a special player, then we realized what a special person he was and he just played tremendously on the field for us and has been a great leader for us.”
— Richt on junior outside linebacker Jarvis Jones, who set the single-season sack record.
“When I went into the locker room at halftime, I thought Coach Bobo was going to hit me up side the head.”
— Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray on his two-interception first half.
“I give credit to Georgia. That’s a good football team. You know, at the end of the day we had our opportunities. There’s some situations where you just have to make some plays and Georgia made them. We didn’t. This was just one of those games.”
— Nebraska coach Bo Pelini
I felt we had a great game plan and they they just came out and hit us with some big throws. A lot came down to third down and their guys just made some plays and stuff. They made more plays than we did at the end of the day.”
— Nebraska linebacker Will Compton on the Bulldogs’ passing so well on their No. 1-ranked pass defense
“On one he said (Murray) was out of the pocket and you guys saw the play. And on the other one, the one on Taylor (Martinez) it was a screen pass and he got hit. He went down throwing the screen. I mean, I find myself shaking my head.”
— Pelini on no intentional grounding being called on Murray and Martinez being called for it on back-to-back, second-half possessions
“In the offseason we’re just going to be pushing that much harder just knowing we came so close to going to the national championship. It’s not like we got blown out or something. So while we’re working out, we’ll be thinking about all the little things because that could be the difference in the outcome of getting those five yards and getting to the national championship game. We’re excited because we feel like this is the first win of 2013. We start next season with Clemson and we’re ready to play them now.”
— Georgia freshman tailback Todd Gurley on prospects of next season.

SEC Fan at 8:00 AM – “didn’t deserve to be in the to in the dome two years ago.”
You earn your way to the dome by winning your division. The SEC CG pits the winner from the East against the winner from the West. UGA won the East. Therefore, UGA “deserved” to ‘be in the dome.” Can you comprehend the process?

kudos to Bo Bo’s offense and Murray’s passing… grantham ’s defense was disorganized and penalized.. fortunately he did make adjustments in 2nd half… good win vs. a good Nebraska team

It was so great to win the bowl game and go out with a win. Everyone knew that Nebraska had one of the best rushing attacks. Nebraska also had the #1 pass defense. Let’s hope our new DL coach teaches these new group of guys some fundamentals. Our defense will be young and thirsty. We still had blown coverages with our veteran defense. The off season is going to be very important for the defense. It was the same deal with our OL at the beginning of this season. I HOPE MURRAY STAYS. HE IS THE LEADER.

GRANTHAM WOULD HAVE BEEN FIRED AT A TOP TIER SCHOOL. YOU GAVE HIM A RAISE.
YOU CHOULD HAVE A WON A TITLE WITHOUT HIM THIS YEAR.

I’ve made a couple negative comments toward CTG myself. Maybe I just couldn’t see it but J Jenkins just didn’t look like he “plugged the middle” like he should on run plays. So, I’m still not quite sold on the 3-4. I might be wrong.
But, I’m really proud how the D really looked gassed yet made the stops in the 4th quarter. They hunkered down for sure.
Yes, we have soon gooduns returning on both sides of the ball; and hopefully another good recruiting class. But to start predicting wins and championships is foolhardy. That being said, the Bulldogs will probably start next season ranked top 5; easily within the top 10. Remember how that’s worked out a couple times? Ask USC; even FSU.

The SEC is a media-driven fraud. Its obvious now that Clemson or Louisville or Kansas State or Oregon should be playing Notre Dame Monday night. I can hear the snickers from South Bend now. The media and networks have handed them the nat champ.
But we can all count on the fact that 12 SEC teams will be ranked in the preseason top 15 next fall.
College football is currently designed to entertain idiots.

Florida’s problem is pretty easy to diagnose, and it is the lack of a decent passing QB. The kid that played the game was originally recruited for Urban Myers offense, and doesn’t have the technique right now to play in an offense where the QB needs to be able to pass accurately. I thought they had a kid on the bench that could throw the ball better than the guy they struck with all through the game. Shame on Mushcamp for doing a pretty poor job with this team. Football is still a game where you have to score some points, and Florida needs to find a QB that can produce, in order to do that.

To the people that think they know a team is going to beat another team, they couldn’t be more stupid.Example,S.C trashed Ga. mostly because of turnovers,Fla. trashed S.C. and GA. beats Fla.

Get over it Bo. You didn’t have SEC depth and you got whipped in the 4th. That’s how SEC football works. Plus, the Dawgs were coming off a very emotional loss that would have put them in the NC game. Do you think they gave their absolute best effort against Nebraska!?!?! And Nebraska was geeked like they were playing for a NC. The better team, by far, won by 2 TD’s. Could have been much worse. Be thankful Bo.

@RedAndBlackDawg… actually Driskel had a pretty decent record. 63.7% passing and an 11-1 record with the toughest sked in the country. ‘Course, they also had the #5 rated D.
For all you who’ve bad-mouthed coach Richt, wanting him to be more fiery and show more emotion….case in point Pelini and Muschamp, and to some extent even Les Miles. Sometimes fiery and hot emotions lead to seeming out of control. To me it sometimes looks like a lack of discipline. Both can become traits of the team: out of control and lack of discipline. Coach Richt shows plenty of emotion; it’s just controlled. Remaining calm under adversity is a good trait, contrary to what some Dawg fans seem to think.
I’ll have to admit that Flawduh was the only SEC team I didn’t ‘root for’ during the bowls. And them not even close to selling their ticket allotment shows how mullet-headed the Gaytor fans can be.

Great season! Even though the defense’s stats were not as good as 2011, they showed both in the SECCG and the Bowl game, that they could play all 4 quarters. Offense was absolutely incredible. Definitely a roller coaster of a season but it’s part of it. As stated above, just got to keep these kids out of trouble (easier said than done, they are “kids”), sign a hell of a recruiting class, and get ready for September! Go Dawgs!!

@Jborodwwg,
Most of the kids passes were short ones to his backs, and though it pads his statistics, it doesn’t show him to be a very good passer over all. He also hasn’t really learned how to throw a touch pass. He throws like he is trying to put a hole into his receivers body.
As for folks getting on Richt for not being fiery, I agree 100% with your sentiments. The team responds to his style of on field manner and unlike coaches like Will, and Pelini, his look, when a kid goofs up, says more than grabbing the kids face mask will ever do. A kid knows when he has made a mistake, so humiliating him on national TV, is not going to change that fact. He does get on the officials though when they make a bad call. This year, the SEC had it’s fair share of them from their crews. Kids respond favorably to a coach that has an even demeanor, and corrects mistakes in practice, and not on the field.

The Tide is Rolling and Nothing Can Stop it – go back to your trailer park… you don’t belong here and you aren’t welcome. Your defense came within a FLUKE tipped pass that just happened to land in a Georgia player’s hands of getting shredded for a last second touchdown. ONLY the clock saved your football gods. Don’t ever forget it fool. Your mighty defense couldn’t stop Georgia when it had to. ONLY pure dumb luck saved your sorry butts.

Anybody that saw the game and was the least bit objective knows how ridiculously lucky Bama was on that last play. If the ball drops harmlessly, Georgia still gets another play. I doubt you could have stopped a second shot from there. I don’t think that warrants the amount of bragging you brain dead football worshipers have afflicted upon these blogs. Go do your bragging on the Birmingham newspaper’s site.

UGA's 2013 schedule
January 4th, 2013
10:54 am
IF UGA gets one or two more BIG MEN for the middle of their D line, with the talent already in place, UGA will be just fine. The new D starters will be hungry and yes, they will want to build their fame and notoriety for when they can move on to the NFL. UGA is loaded on D and has some quality depth arriving this month and in July.
UGA will simply reload. I do not fear LSU or Clemson or SC. Keep in mind, UGA could Lise two of these THREE and STILL WIN the EAST IF….IF we go undefeated after playing them and we only lose one SEC game among them. Stranger things could happen, then we culd again play in the SEC CG and somehow win …….. And possibly still with two early season losses play in a top level BCS bowl.
Sky is the limit for UGA in 2013 and 2014.
Go Dogs.

Hope the top available recruits for 2013 can see themselves at Georgia and know they can be an important part of the process. I appreciate all the players and coaches at Georgia for giving their all this year especially, and it’s great to be a DAWG!
I would like to see the Georgia running backs get on Hershel’s workout program too increase their stamina, endurance and overall physical abilities. I can’t understand why Georgia would not at least ask Hershel and hire him in assisting the strenght and conditioning program.
He would be a great asset to the program. To Coach Grantham please hire the very best coach available and tell your assistants we are proud to have them and you at Georgia.
The offensive line did a great job and kudos to them and the coaching staff. The wide receivers and tight ends are solid and I hope Hutson Mason get more involved in the offense. I do hope Murray comes back for another year to try and win the Heisman and improve his qb ranking for the NFL.
To Coach Richt .. congradulations and thanks for supporting your team and coaches. I love the faith you have and your commitment you give to all your players and the program and especially to those recruits such as Tramel Terry! It great to know that Georgia coaches honor their player comitment even if a player does get injured! As a parent that’s got to put their mind at ease?
