Georgia’s Dallas Lee says ‘no thanks’ to joining his family for BCS game in Miami

ATHENS — Dallas Lee’s parents have begged him to go with them to Miami for the BCS National Championship game. But if Georgia’s starting left guard couldn’t go as a participant, he said he definitely wasn’t going to go as supportive brother.

“I’m still a little upset so I’m not going,” Dallas said. “I’m going to watch it on TV at the house. I’m a little too upset about it to go down there and have fun.”

Lee’s family was the subject of many profiles heading into the SEC Championship as Dallas and his brother, Alabama linebacker Dillon Lee, were facing off from opposite sidelines. But after that game ended excruciatingly close for the Bulldogs, with time running out on the  at the Crimson Tide 5 in a 32-28 loss, Dallas said he just can’t bring himself to go to Miami.

Of course, Lee will be with the Bulldogs at the Capital One Bowl in Orlando for eight days. Lee is scheduled to return to Atlanta on Jan. 2. The title game between Alabama and Notre Dame is on Jan. 7.

“I mean, I’m already going to be in Florida for like a week and a half,” Dallas said. “When my game is over, my parents come home like only a day, and then they’re going back down to Miami two or three days before the game. That just sounds exhausting, to get back on a plane and go back.”

Besides, Lee said he still hasn’t fully recovered from the disappointment of losing the SEC title game.

“The end of the game was terrible, to know that we were that close,” he said. “We were busy blocking; I didn’t even know the clock was running out. When we looked before we got in our stance there was like 15 seconds left. I got done blocking and confetti was popping and they were running on the field. I was confused; I didn’t know what happened because I was blocking off to the left. I had to watch it the next day to find out what happened. It was terrible.”

Dillon and Dallas met briefly at midfield and they posed for a picture for freelance photographer Rob Saye. But it was a somewhat awkward moment, Allas said.

“I told him to have fun in Miami and beat Notre Dame; that was about all I could think of,” Dallas said. “He was looking kind of sad. I was like, “enjoy it. SEC Championships are hard to come by.” I was like, “don’t feel bad for me. Enjoy it for your team.’ We knew one of us had to have a crappy day.”

As it turned out, the freshman Dillon did not play any for the Crimson Tide that day. Dallas is hoping for a rematch next year.

“Seeing my brother was cool,” he said. “Hopefully next year he can be playing so we can hit each other and that will be even more fun.”

Im hoping Saban takes the Browns job but that being said, I dont blame Dallas for not wanting to go hang out for 3 more days after being away for 8 days. It does sound exhausting. For 1 day yeah, but his brother wont even see the playing field and the whole time he will be thinking about the SEC championship game and how much he wants to be down there with the rest of the Dawgs playing for th national championship….if his brother was going to be playing yeah, but his brother is riding the pine and besides that the hell with Bama….DGD through and through you are Dallas!

I really don’t care what anyone says about supporting the SEC………….and Alabama………..I absolutely cannot stand Notre Dame……………but I hate Alabama equally……….I wouldn’t go to Miami if you paid me, bought me a coke, a ticket to the game and a 2k dollar call girl.

Any dislike of Notre Dame is unreasonable by a UGA fan. Alabama has beaten many more times in UGA’s history than the dawgs have ever beaten the trash to the immediate west.

Notre Dame, however, has a very special place in UGA history. I shouldn’t have to type any more for a real Georgia Bulldog fan.

In conclusion, GO IRISH!!!!!!!!!!

Graduated before most of you were born. Clearly understand that to be the “top” in the SEC, must beat Alabama. Remember 1966, I think? Doctor said I might be hiding my on easter eggs next year. Alabama is not as good this year as in past years. Don’t think Notre Dame is as good as everybody thinks they are. We will find out next year. Think Dallas made the right decision. As for the state of Alabama, they really don’t have much else to do except watch football.

You Teckies are obsessed with those rings; maybe your team, the only one with a losing record, can upset USC, and you can have some more made.

UGA with Murray at QB will never win the big game.
ALL SEC teams agreed with me. He’ll, Johnny Football, the Heisman Frosh handled Bama.

Murray is a nice kid and a so.lid student but he is not a SEC CG winner. He has been twice and failed.

UGA needs a heady QB that can throw it well BUT he can MANAGE a powerful ground attack. Until CMR grasps the fact that POWERFUL O lines and great backs can win,UGA will always be a brides maid.

I think we’re getting things all backwards. The time to show this type grit and emotion is before and during the game. If anyone deserves this type alienation, it should be the defensive coaches. They couldn’t stop the run all year long with some of the best athletes in the universe. It’s a game and it’s over and it wasn’t really that close. Bama whipped both lines.

This is sad beyond belief. His actions only show what a loser at heart he is. Any real man would get up and support his brother and family. There will come a time when he takes off that jersey for the last time. He will always be his brother’s brother.

Dallas, appreciate the effort you gave all year long, and with all due respect, the game was not lost (or won) on the last play. If you ask me, we lost when our QB was sacked on 1st down on our previous possession. I bet you know what happened on THAT play, don’t you.

After Bama scored to make it 32-28, we got the ball back with plenty o time (3:15 left) and two timeouts, but we went 3-and-out. The Bama sacker came thru the LG hole, so please don’t act like it was something someone else did. The whole team wins or the whole team loses. It never comes down to one play by one player.

Dawgs missed a great chance. Either UGA or AliBammy would/will CRUSH ND. Seriously, their schedule makes Ga’s look like a middle school schedule. Say what you want, playing an SEC schedule trumps anything ND plays. If they were any other school with that same schedule, they’d be #3 or 4 in the nation. This Dawg says, for one game: ROLL TIDE!!!
