Painful but proud night. I loved the fight to the bitter end.

I know how bad I was hurting. I know the coaches, players and families were hurting 100 times more.

I am proud of the effort. Thank you 2012 Bulldogs! I tip my cap to you, and also, to Bama.

At the end of the day, 350 rushing yards against our defense is why we lost the game.

It wasn’t the “spike debate” at the end.

We forced two Bama tunrovers and scored a special teams TD. That was still not enought to overcome the rushing yards by Bama. Penalties did not help either.

If you think differently, I understand but that is the analysis as I see it.

I was a critic of Richt last year, and I went to the SEC championship hoping we could just have a good game. It was a great game, we almost won, and I am proud of UGA for playing so well. You could complain on both sides of the ball, plays, defense, ect, but nobody is perfect. Alabama fans were complaining as well, just like us. We came back and kept coming back, UGA was able to keep coming back and answering Alabama. Great job for the Dawgs, and Richt for not putting up with the lousy media remarks. Go Dawgs!!!

It was a tough loss. I’m as disappointed as anyone but you can’t lay blame on anyone. the players played their hearts out and the coaches did a great job of preparing them and calling plays. Bamma was one play better. thats it, no excuses, no shame.

Bottom line….the greatest SEC Championship game to date….two teams who fought it for 60 full minutes…great running games…down to the wire….what more could you ask for in a game??? both teams should hold heads high as they represented exactly what college football should be… don’t bash coaching…they both made mistakes at the end of each half…maybe???? no one will ever really know what a decision change would have brought… also a game played with class… I am first proud of my team BAMA for winning; two for the Georgia great team that gave us thrills to the very end; third for a great representation of the SEC… we are the best all around…!!!!

Joe Dawg has probably never played a down of football in his life. like I told my seven year old when they lost the peewee football championship, listen son, one team wins and one team loses in great games, we came up short but gave one hell of an effort and that is the way it goes in sports. The other team is trying to win too.
We should be proud of the heart our boys showed and the fact that a tipped pass might have been the difference in the game. As for me and my house we are proud dawgs!

…plays a part in losing a game – but both coaches had brain meltdowns, Saban at the end of the first half and CMR at the end (despite his denials that he did the “right” thing)…and for Murray to be so smart, how come he did not take the lead and just spike the ball anyway…

IF, if, if – the biggest little word in the dictionary…but at least the game was not 31-0 at halftime this time – UGA even played really well the entire game – kudos to them…

To sum it all up, it came down to our “D” simply being gassed late in the 3rd qtr and thru the 4th qtr. That’s why they couldn’t stop the 2 point conversion as well….which turned out to be critical. The DAWGS would probably have been going for a field goal at the end which would have won the game instead of having to score a touchdown. Oh well, coulda, shoulda woulda. GO DAWGS…..we love your anyway! With a bit better handling of the defense (substitution considered), the DAWGS probably would have won the game. It’s hard to stop a freight train with a tired defense!!

You Sir, are an idiot. I think you need to just come out and say what is quite obvious. I am a tech. fan and this is the only recourse I have because GT is a second rate team at best, and is once again playing in sunny El Paso and will once again lose, finishing with an outstanding record of 5 wins and 8 loses. You should be ashamed that your team was even granted a waiver to play in a bowl game, even if at best, it is second tier.
The epic fail you speak about is yourself and your team.

Dawg Fud is exactly correct on his take. There are numbers of UGA alum who are wondering what it is going to take to get Georgia a defense that even closely resembles one of Dooley’s great defenses. Actually Van Gorder coached very good run defense in 2002, and decent in 2003, but other than those years, UGA has given up tons of rushing yardage to good run teams in all other years under Mark Richt. Does anyone know what the future looks like for UGA? I do not mean the future as in this crappy bowl game that “Ears McGarity” wants everyone to focus on. Is Murray gone? Is Geathers gone? Is there any plan in place to plug NUMEROUS holes on 2013 defense? Did Richt promise Mason the starting job if he hung around like he did Cox? The only way Richt survives is to maintain current level of play, even with large personnel losses. From where I’m sitting this looks impossible. A win in the dome would have bought Richt some time regardless of outcome in Miami, but he won’t survive the three years that it will take for UGA Football to become competitive again without it.

Everyone who knows anything about football knows to spike the ball in that situation. Murray ( being Murray in big game Murray) looked to the sideline for permission. Murray shoulda woulda coulda spiked the ball instinctively.

Poor coaching (not giving Murray the green light to make a decision) coupled with Murray (being Murray in big games Murray) made a poor decision and showed a lack of confidence and leadership on the field to spike the ball.

Oh well, dogs.

February is a few short months away and you can reclaim your delusional off-season #1 ranking.

The problem with the world today is that people don’t know how to handle losing and that makes us softer, especially men. Look at all the senseless shootings because some nut didn’t win a contest or a job at some point in life. Or some nut can’t handle a relationship with a woman or his kids. We all have challenges and problems in life. Deal with it and move on.

People like Joe Dawg are the ones who have their kids playing a sport the kid grows to hate because he doesn’t teach them how to win, but rather, to fear the idea of losing. “If I don’t do well here then daddy is going to yell and call me stupid.”

You’re a real man Joe Dawg. But I guess whining on a message board illustrates that for us all.

Oh yeah, that Bulldog Club thing on Facebook needs to let go of petitioning to get that Bama player suspended for the helmet-to-helmet hit that wasn’t called. It happened, Murray is okay, and the sun came up Sunday morning. Let’s move on.

When the clock struck 0 on saturday, I stayed on my feet and applauded. I am a life long DAWG fan and was happy to witness such a great game. I of course wanted the outcome to be different, but it wasn’t a question of heart or coaching as has been the case. I do not believe in moral victories and UGA is going to the proper bowl (base on the system). It is time to move on and forward. The team still gets to go to what is considered the 2nd best bowl for the SEC (Capital One Bowl picks first after the BCS) and hopefully they will show and play strong. Don’t think that losing last year turned a receuit or 2. Play with that same passion as Saturday night ( rushing D excluded ) and the Dawgs finish with 12 wins.
What happens next? Who is going pro. Jarvis has too, but I think that Jenkins fills in nicely. Ogletree is the key. He is a projected top 15 pick, like Jarvis was last year. Does he come back to prove himself Top 10 next year? Let’s hope so. Need the incoming JUCOs and top freshman on D. If Murray stays, 11 returning starters on offense ( for those that don’t know, that is the whole team) ( I do know that T King is a senior, but the WR rotation will be solid).
Anyone that didn’t see the change in this team over the course of this season is an idiot. They progressed and played better as the year wore on. That is a sign of good coaching. Lots of sunny days ahead. GO DAWGS

I agree that the ball should have been spiked but that didn’t lose the game. Grantham waiting too long to slow down Bama’s run cost UGA the game. Swann getting burned badly was a contributing factor too since he didn’t even contend the final TD pass.

The offensive line’s play was one of the best stories from the game. We have a couple of players in their first year at UGA, one a true Freshman! We had a couple of regular players who are getting their first serious playing time and we have a couple with some experience. We have come a long way this year, and they were able to stay on the field with the nation’s top defense–a very physical front 7. No seniors in the whole bunch of starters. We should have a great offense next year. If Murray comes back, it could be our best offensive year ever in UGA history. Mason could do great, too. Just haven’t seen him enough to know. The D is going to need some serious rebuilding next year. Go Dawgs…all real Dawg fans are extremely proud of you, even though we are all terribly disappointed you didn’t get into the BCS. So close…

A primer on spike or not to spike….especially for uninformed whiners who don’t really understand football.

UGA had a play called for the situation, a fade to Mitchell in the end zone. Unfortunately the pass was tipped, fell short, received by Conley and the rest is history.

Had we spiked the ball then ran the fade to the end zone and the pass was tipped, fell short, received by Conley you get the same outcome.

Having the play ready while ALA was reeling was a good strategy. Spiking the ball would have given them the chance to regroup. Their DE made a good play, and, as I said, the rest is history.

I just hat it….stop by Borders and pick up a copy of “Football for Dummies” and next year you may be able to make an intelligent remark.

I played on the 80 championship team Was not a starter but was on the team.

The way I see it, MR needs to recruit better, keep the GA 5 stars in state, and hire some better coaches that can coach these guys up. They consistently under-achieve. Not like the old days where we hammered everyone with smash-mouth.

Who would want to play for a team that is always overrated and frequently disappoints? All the good players are headed to AL, SC, FL and Clemson. Ridiculous.

Uga never had a chance. Mike Slive, Steve Shaw and the powers in B’ham made sure Bama won. When Uga got ahead, bama was allowed to “march and hold” till scoring. The tape proves it. Only bama could go to titile game last year when not winning the wsey and only bama can play anentire
Sec title game and not get called for holding. Bama is coddled and protected and the sec is the loser for it. I am tired of bama, its cheating, and the sec! Any ref that doesnt call a personal foull on dial for the hit on the uga qb must work for steve shaw ad mike slive!

Great game. Tough loss. I do think the guy who took that shot on Murray should be suspended for the national championship game. That was a dangerous hit. And if safety is the emphasis of SEC and NCAA officials, then that hit shouldn’t be overlooked. That was truly bad.

Phil, if you are really a Dawg fan, then you have to be kidding! Everybody wants 1st place every year, but only one team can win. If you were in the top 10% of sales reps at your company in five of the last ten years and somebody wanted to fire you for not being the #1 sales rep, you would get it. You would cry bloody murder. As the old saying goes, duty is ours, results are up to God. The Dawgs went beyond the call of duty and the results slipped through their fingers. All you can do is keep the faith, and keep on pressing. Giving up, starting over, like some of you guys want to do, is what quitters do.

I, like the rest of the bulldog nation, am hurting this morning. To have come so close and not quite made it is especially hard. I have been critical in the past of Coach Richt and some of the coaching staff because of what I perceived as poor coaching. I still stand by those criticisms at those times. However, I can find no fault with the coaching or the intensity of play by my team in this contest. It was as well-coached and well-played game as I have witnessed in many years. My thanks to Coach Richt for his defense of Aarron Murray and himself at the press conference after the game. Neither deserved the cheap shot by that thoughtless reporter. To all of the football team (coaches and players) thanks for a wonderful year and let’s get that 12-win. My congratulations to Alabama for a hard fought victory and I will support them as our SEC representative in the National Championship game. Go in there and blow-out the Irish to substantiate that the SEC championship, at least for now, is in reality the National Championship.

Great game by the Dawgs!!! Just like all others in Dawg Nation, I wish we had won. I also wish there wasn’t so much hate on this Blog but that is the modern fan – what have you done for me lately?

The BOTTOM LINE is we have not played in a National Championship game in 30 years – 30 YEARS!! I greatly appreciate the efforts the players put forth and I feel worst for them than the coaches and nay sayer FANS.

Like many on this Blog that live outside the State of Georgia, I am sure they can attest that Georgia gained a great deal from the lost Saturday night. However, it is still difficult to take consolation from a lost. The focus now needs to shift away from the SEC title game and onto the Capital One Bowl.

Not only that, Alt, but we scored on that same exact play earlier in the season when we went for two with Marlon Brown and everyone thought it was brilliant. We lined up and fired it over Brown’s back soldier before the D was lined up. If the play fails we get the same two tries. Murray practices this throw a lot. They were executing a well practiced and good plan. After understanding that, fans should realize spiking wasn’t necessarily the best option. Yes, if we knew the play would fail like that, everybody would spike it. But we could go back change any number of plays, but so could Alabama. They could have gone for it on the field goal, you could go on and on…

I am a UGA grad, and I think that Richt is a decent and sincere person, and over the years, he has been one of the more successful coaches in the country. My problem with him has been his “Bobby Bowden” approach to player management. His players average around 10 arrests and suspensions each season. Had Rambo and company been been present the whole season, it would probably not have taken six or seven games for the defense to play effectively. He has said that he doesn’t care about penalties, which certainly sends the wrong message to his players. Comments by Rambo and others to the media are another counter productive issue as are Richt’s energy vampires and black out gimmicks. Richt is not going anywhere, and he will continue to win nine or ten games with national-championship talent. Richt did not deserve the tacky question from the writer at the press conference.

You critics calling for the “spike” are hilarious, and ignorant. Murray was throwing a fade to Mitchell, who was open. If the ball is not tipped he catches the ball and we win; at worst it is incomplete and we have another play, THE SAME RESULT AS SPIKING THE BALL!!

I have criticized CMR and Murray myself, but they did NOT screw up the last 10 seconds, and you cannot intelligently make that point!! There is no one in the country that we could get next year who is better, so tell me who or STHU.

Mark Richt outcoached Nick Saban, but Little Nicky was rescued by a massive OL and a beast running back. Aaron Murray played superbly, taking the team 80 yards in a little over a minute with no timeouts in a pressure cooker situation. In my opinion, that was one of the greatest drives in UGA history. Unfortunately, it came up short but that doesn’t take away from what this team did. Truly outstanding!!!

Richt is right. Time to move on. I was as crushed as anyone considering how close we were to victory, but upon further reflection I truly feel Bama was the better team and deserved the win. Bottom line: You can’t give up 350 yards rushing and expect to win games like this. National champions also don’t blow 11 point leads. This is just reality people. I can handle losing to a better team and that is exactly what happened.

I am not dispariging the effort of our team though. The offense had a great game plan and I’m officially off the Bobo bashing bandwagon. He really impressed me Saturday night. Murray was excellent. Our defense just has some holes in the running game that have really been there all year if you’ve been paying close attention. I think my grandmother could have run through some of those holes Bama’s O-line was opening up. I would be shocked if you don’t see more of the same against an overrated Notre Dame.

That said, we are a legit top 5 team and there is no reason in the world we can’t be right back in the mix of things within the next few years, especially with the playoff coming up. Losses like this happen if you’re shooting for the stars. That’s why coward programs like Georgia Tech want no part of it. You can’t be afraid of failure.

The future is bright for Georgia football.

…and for those saying the point can’t be intelligently made – you’re wrong. If you spike the ball, and the same thing happens (tipped pass caught in bounds), you have an extra 8-10 seconds to line up again and spike it again to stop the clock and take one more shot at it. Football 101.

Great end to a questionable season. We can end on a high note with 12 wins if we bounce back as I expect. Nebraska should be a cakewalk compared to Bama.

Next season we will know quite a bit about how 2013 shapes up because by the end of September we will have played Clemson, South Carolina, and LSU.

I have a lot of thoughts about the Dawgs but I am proud of the OL, after watching them in the spring they went from a liability to a huge asset and they are going to be beast next year. I think Murray is great but too short (tipped balls) but he needs to come back, he is not ready for the NFL. Sorry Mason.. But in the end, the defense just gives up too many yards rushing and tackling is poor at times and then the get beat too often in the pass. But they are a fine group none the less..

Of course it doesn’t make my team better, but it does expose UGA once again. Sorry, but Murray is not a big time performer and will never lead UGA to a big win. It is just never going to happen. Having Richt coaching and Murray playing QB is a recipe for making the Capital One bowl every year. This season went pretty much exactly as everyone predicted for UGA, only there was an added moral victory of playing Alabama closer than they probably should have.

Saban, on his way to the dressing room at halftime, was asked by thr female reporter why he elected to end up in a position where he had to settle for a FG when he failed to utilize the 3 “Timeouts” Bama had remaining!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He said they just got caught up in the circumstances so I guess you may want to throw Saban(Likely the best College Coach in America) under the bus as you did with CMR. I’m not going to talk about the obvious because it’s been mentioned countless times. I’m talking about our inability to stop the run. I would like to talk about that crucial third down. Does Aaron have the option to audible out of a play or does that come from the oc or head coach? Someone should’ve changed that play to a pitch or a bootleg by Aaron because Alabama stacked the line. It wasn’t a last minute walk up or anything it was a pre read. It also makes me ask does Todd have to run where the play is designed to go or does he have the option to run it somewhere else because running backs have pre reads as well. I believe if we convert right there we could’ve run the clock out by running the ball. I know that there were a little over three minues left at that time but the Tide had problems with our running game as well. Todd had twenty two carries. It should’ve been forty two. I would’ve liked to have seen Ken Malcome get some touches as well. It was a physical game and he is a physical runner just like Todd. I’m still proud of the way the kids fought back time after time. These are my humble opinions because I’m playing Monday morning quarterback just like the rest of you! One more thing I hope Aaron comes back because I’d rather have a battle tested experienced quarterback heading into Death Valley in 2013 than an unproven one. Go Dawgs!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Say what you want about the DAWGS. They played a great game. Bama took advantage of our weak spot in the secondary all game #5. And they pounded the rock to the point #5 was left man to man which resulted in pass inteferance or a Touchdown. Trying to tackle Lacey in the 1st quarter and then trying to tackel him in the 4th is totally different. Anyone that plays football will know that. Heck watch the NFL and you’ll notice that with teams that run the ball. A game like that between two somewhat evenly matched teams always comes down to 5 plays. After going up 21 – 10 I can mention 2 plays that gave Bama at total of 30 yards alone.

Gawgs and Dawg Nation; absolutely nothing to be sad or mad about. UGA played well enough to win. Although I hate loosing to Alabama, it was a good game. Both teams made some mistakes; its not a mistakeless game. To know it all came down to 1 play or two in teh end, I am proud of teh team… no complaints; even with the coaches.

BAMA usually plays a clean game with minimal auto points to opponents. But their defence was questionable in this game and made some obvious mistakes.

They allowed UGA to score on a fake punt and a blocked kicked, which is avoidable and should be avoided.

Also, on UGA’s last drive, defenders let UGA receivers get out of bounds and thus stopped the clock multiple times.

UGA took advantage of every opportunity to score. But in the end, it was not enough.

UGA is scary if the whole team is back next year.

Note to Big Gator:
What do Sewanee, Tulane and GT have in common? They all won SEC titles before the gators. I can understand why the gator nation believes that there was not football until 1991. But some of us remember games before 1991. The gators do belong in the Sugar Bowl. They played a tough schedule and only had one hiccup. You should be calling out Bama for a soft schedule, not UGA. I think all the Dawgs are saying that we should be in a BCS bowl, not the Cap One. Most of us are proud of the Dawgs, proud of the season as a whole and realize it is only a game. See you in Jax!!!

The game boiled down to UGA playing with 69 scholarship players. Alabama had exactly ZERO points in the first 28 minutes of the game. They were not running it down UGA’s throat (Anyone remember lacy getting crushed at the goal line and fumbling) – but the Dawgs did not have the depth to rotate Defensive linemen and Linebackers and keep them fresh. Eventually they wore down – which leads to arm tackling – which leads to Bama running at will. Saban’s offensive philosophy is to be balanced – but UGA made them one dimesnional (which is actually what you hope to do as a defense) – when they got pressure on McCarron and took the Bama passing game away. Saban himself admitted they could not handle our pass rush.
But hes Nick Saban for a reason – they switched in mid stream to a 2 tight end set and ran the ball over and over – even when trailing. Eventually – that paid huge divdends – and Bama’s superior depth won out. Had UGA had Arby Jones, Vasser, Thornton, and probably one or two more to give the other guys a blow and keep them fresh – I beleive Bama would not have had quite so much success running the ball. They may have still found a way to win – but it would have been much more difficult.
That being said – the guy UGA put on the field on defense gave all they had – they just obviously wore down – to question their effort or Grantham’s coaching is not taking into account the realities of what happened on the field. In a war – you have to have reinforcements. Bama had more than UGA – and eventually won the war of attrition.

It could have very well knocked Murray out of the game and apparently the refs would have totally been fine with it. Saban seemed to get numerous “look the other way” non calls. Amazing how doggy fans hide the fan gear the day after losing. As someone who cares less about either team, it’s easy to make this observation. A person couldn’t swing a dead dog in Kroger without hitting six people wearing uga stuff at noon on Saturday, but there was no uga wear on Sunday ANYWHERE…funny how that happens…but saw plenty of bama stuff both days.

Nope. He was not fritter. he was 3 yrds in bound when the ball was thrown. I JUST watched the replay.he had the defender turned with his back to the ball. Mitchell had a TD. Textbook play developing before the tip. …..and The WR is never “open” on that play.There is 10 yrds to work with, of cource the defender has him covered.. WR just has the advantage on the jump ball, while the defender has to turn and react.

You are mistaking that it had blown up (IMO) because as soon as the ball was tipped, Mitchell stopped and changed his route in reaction. Prior to that , he was on a bee line for the back corner.

But that all pure speculation. I no more know what “would” have happened than you. So lets say you are correct….do you really think the Bama defender would have had WORSE coverage if we had given him more time to get set?

That’s our best 10 yrd TD play. Worked all year, and that’s what we were running one way or the other.

Can UGA fans stop the “dawgs are 5-yard short of beating BAMA” phrase?

(1) if you look at the replay, you will see the other UGA player cannot catch the ball even the ball is not tipped.

(2) During the last drive, BAMA player is 2-inch short of an interception, his hands are 2-inch closer that is, to avoid ball touching the ground.

(3) During BAMA’s last drive, they are 3-yard short of the 1st down, or they will kill the time remaining.

My first memories of attending a game of any kind is Athens, 1980. I pull for the ‘dogs in every game except one: UGA vs. GT, and that’s b/c I graduated from Tech. Any time the whiners and complainers want to get rid of Richt, we will be happy to take him on North Avenue. Alphare gets 15 for making stuff up….that was a back shoulder throw. Look at the tape again. It was right on. If you don’t think other teams fear Murray’s ability here, just read Will Muschamp’s comments about Murray’s throws in last year’s game–there simply is no defense for it. Tipping or an errant throw is it, and Alabama made a great play, tipping it. It was thrown confidently and accurately, and Murray is the best there is at this. What these innocent blogger boys don’t know about real college football!

The 2014 four team playoff format favors us. ‘02, ‘05 and ‘07 teams would all have been in. Not this year’s team just b/c there are too many other teams out there that almost went undefeated this season. But we’ll be knocking on that door.

We gave the nation a great game Saturday night. It’s the media’s job now to hype Bama v. Notre Dame but that was the real national championship.

I noticed that Mark Richt said they wanted to play for the national championship, that is a big different between wanting to and expecting to play in the national championship game. I am sure Nick Saban would hjave never said they to rather than expected. I ubderstand Georgia fans being proud of the effort they performed on Saturday night. If you will remember when Alabama losted to Florida in the SECCG 2008, there were no way Alabama were going to be denied in 2009. This should have been Georgia attitude Saturday. You UGA folks think the whole SEC is just you, sure you went to the SEC championship game, but you are not the 2nd best in the SEC, A&M beat Bama, Gators beat LSU and USC. LSU played Bama as tough. UGA plays 3 good teams and loses 2 out of three, you should count your lucky stars you didn’t get the Peach bowl, that would have been about right. Good team, but others are better.

Whoopeeeeeee! Can’t hardly wait. Dawgs get a team that just gave up 70 pts. in the Big Ten championship game to the mighty Wisconsin! They also gave up 63 to Ohio State during the year.
Well, at least now I know what time to schedule my nap for that day. The Capital None Bowl should be highly rated-NOT !!!!! Dawgs might actually be better off to hire Derek Dooley after the season is over. He does have half a brain and would have spiked the ball at the end.

1.) Blocking Field goal for a TD (10 Point Swing)
2.) Intercepting Bama in the End Zone (3 Point to 7 Point Swing)
3.) Fake Punt (I thought Jarvis Jones didn’t like Trickery… Let to 7 points and would have been 3).

This makes 16 to 24 points the Dawgs got as gifts…. Bama only got a 3 pt gift off the Murray interception.

If Bama plays UGA 10 times…. Bama wins 9.

Dawgs played the best they could and got the most critical turnovers.

ANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNDDDDD for all the whining about “UGA would have won if it weren’t for bad clock management”……..

UGA would not have even had a shot if it weren’t for BAD Clock management by SABAN at the end of the 1st half.

BAMA was 1st and goal INSIDE the 5 and had to settle for a field goal because SABAN sat on his timeouts.

Had SABAN not done this, UGA would have been down 8 even with all the GIFTS…..

Get over yourself UGA and the “Moral Victories”….. you are not in the same league as BAMA.

The ONLY REASON you were there instead of the GAYTORS is because the GAYTORS had 6 turnovers….. heck VANDY could have beat FL if they knew they would get 6 turnovers…

Yeah, that situation was prototype for a very quick spike. Regroup, set the next couple plays and agree in the huddle that you don’t catch it if you know 100% that you’re going over the line. Murray needed to be secure enough to get the guys down there fast and do it. The coaches needed to just admit that in hindsight the team should have had that scenario and action plan already agreed upon.

As for as Oliver’s comment at the press conference….no surprise. Both he and his nitwit and immature partner, Turnoff, will milk it all week on the show [this was the intent all along] and, somehow, they will find enough yahoos in the market to tune in and actually listen to the worst show in the history of sports talk.

Bwahaha, Duke is better than most teams on UGA’s schedule. That’s a good one. Duke went 3-5 in the crappy ACC and made its name by not going 0-8. The didn’t accomplish anything.

I’m just glad Matt Barkley will be back to face Tech. Here’s hoping he improves his draft position in one game against Tech while setting a Sun Bowl record passing the ball.

My bulldogs played the best game I have seen them play in my entire lifetime. I wasn’t able to see Herchel Walker plays as I was still a toddler. But this 2012 team have a lot of fight in it. And for all the fake Georgia fans on here criticising the team and players and Coach Richt, please get a life. Coach Richt had this team ready to play on Saturday. They were energized, the played diciplined other than the penalties, had great emotion, and left it all on the field. It just didn’t happen for us. Congrats to Alabama. And for all you fire Mark Richt fools, How many championships did Georgia win (including SEC championships) AFTER Vince Dooley and BEFORE Mark Richt! Be careful what you wish for cause I bet these are the same people who helped push Vince Dooley into Retirement.

IMHO, Alabama is the best football team in America right now. I think their whole program got sucked into the thinking that they could beat an NFL team. They have read that all year, and it got into their heads. They thought their only hard game would be LSU and they let down after whipping them in BRLA. Alabama has grown a lot since TA&M. They realized the governor was right. The way to keep any team from having a chance is pound the rock with the AA O line, and pop a deep one every now and then. I think ND is a great program, but I think the National Championship was Saturday night. I don’t think anybody can beat Alabama, unless they get a whole bunch of breaks.

And congrats to Bama. I was at the game and all the Bama fans I encountered were courteous and everyone had a great time.

On the way out, many of the Bama fans shook our hands and some even said we deserved to win.

All in all, a great game the way football is supposed to played.

Duke lost by 36 at home to Clemson with a shot at the ACC Championship Game still on the line.

Auburn lost to Clemson by 7 in a neutral site game.

A win is a win and a loss is a loss but only looking at wins and losses does not tell the whole story. Stop giving Duke credit for something they haven’t accomplished. Duke is still a crap team in a crap conference. Just because the found 3 wins in a bad division including a 3 point upset over their rival doesn’t make them what Vandy has become in recent seasons.

Auburn went 0-8 against the SEC. That has nothing to do with their potential performance against the ACC as they almost took down your 2nd best team.

Dawg fans, perhaps now that the shoe is on the other foot, you can be a little more objective about how lucky you were to get out of Jacksonville with a win. That game could have gone either way, too.

Georgia’s offense did a great job last night, but I can’t think of any team that has ever won a game when giving up over 300 yards rushing. The game stayed close because of the fake punt pass completion and blocked field goal: Credit to the coaching staff that so many of you like to malign: Richt and company out-coached and out-witted Saban and Smart several times. Also, I’ve seen lots of long runs by Gurley this season, but never as much power running as last night.

All in all, it was a great game.

I was pissed at first about not clocking the ball before the final play.

Fact is even if they clocked it first, Murray could have gotten sacked, it could have been intercepted, he could have threw a tipped pass and another receiver caught it in bounds, etc. etc. etc.

Clocking it would have made NO difference (unless you can see into the future)

I was there and it was a great game. Either team could have won. You can play the “what if” game on either side. The UGA fans I sat around were great and very friendly. Granted they wanted to beat Bama like a drum but everyone (on both sides) handled themselves with class. I wish everyone on this blog would. Good luck with the cornhuskers.

Why is it that when UGA frequently benefits from teams turning the ball over (Rambo has been an INT snagging machine the past 2 seasons despite 2 huge misses this season and Jones has cause many fumbles) it’s always because the opponent simply screwed up but when Murray throws INTs or fumbles along with other players then the opponent gets credit beating UGA?

Florida is the last team that needs to come on here and play the “we had a bad day” card considering the 5 Days of Christmas FSU provided last week.

Nothing would have been gained from clocking the ball, the follow on play was already called. BAMA is the only team that would have benefited from a clock play. If they had clocked it, the same result is possible. That could happen anytime you pass the ball. It’s just pis poor luck that it was tipped.

Columbus dawg we are returning the entire offense except 3. Receivers + a huge recruiting class. Gurley and Marshall will only be better and more importantly our line grew up and will all be better with some new depth!!!! But the biggest thing is that games like this make teams grow up! We will be better because the confidence and belief in the system is there! Yes we will have to out score some teams but based on the way we moved against Alabama I think we can!!!! Now let’s beat Nebraska and finish in the top 5!

Let’s not forget that Murray threw 3 INTs and Florida still could not reach the endzone!

But wait, there’s more! South Carolina turned it over 4 times to the Gators’ 0! Wow, the gifts keep coming!

It seems that a trend is developing where teams who significantly win the turnover battle win the game.

What sorcery is this???

dawginduluth! no spiking the ball would not have helped? please, half of the nation disagrees. our own qb was running down the field giving that sign (watch the replay) that was his first instinct and he knew it was RIGHT thing to do! Sorry AM, you should have just done it and never looked over to ask what to do cause you would have been right.

This just it! A research team made up of a coalition of AAU schools has determined that Missouri turned the ball over 4 times to the Gators’ 1 yet lost by 7. How can this be? The Gators received gifts in so many games. Is there a conspiracy? How can a dominant BCS team require so many gifts to win games?

Next you’ll tell me that LSU turned ball over more than the Gators in their game…

From reading the comments here it looks like the “Dawg Nation” is turning on its coach, players and each other. I saw nothing but total all out effort at the Dome on both sides of the ball. Gee, keep this up and pretty soon you will be right down there with the ‘Auburn Family.”

All I can say is damn!! I hate BAMA and BAMA FANS but I cannot allow myself to be disrepectful to the game by not giving them their just due! BAMA beat that UGA defense from black to blue! Shawn Williams, Bacarri Rambo wanted nothing to do with what was taking place within those trenches by the 3rd quarter. UGA was out coached and could not dig deep enough to bury BAMA when they had the chance to. The BAMA kids also displayed great poise through the entire game that UGA players never seemed to grasp. In cricticle moments UGA players were making ignorant penalties! T.J. Stripling#44 really??? and UGA#2 pokes a BAMA kids in the eye???? and people wonder why we come up short! UGA does need a change and after 13yrs not one NC appearance, losing records to ranked teams and not spiking the football in that situation UGA is still on ice! Let MR go and take Bobo with him!!! Like he said lets move on because he has!

How silly spoton. Of COURCE Murray wsa asking if they wanted him to clock the ball. Clocking the ball was an option. Running the play was the other option. That Murray was asking, to make sure which way to go, proves to you he “should have”?

As I have asked before, can you explain what is right about that? Forget about what half the country says. Tell me in your words, why. Timeline and strategy please. Or just generally, if that’s easier.

Hey Bob. There is no question that all big time football schools let kids in strictly because of their on-field ability. So yes, they could be considered football factories if that is how you look at it. My issue comes in how those kids are handled when they get there. Yes, over-signing is not illegal, but that does not mean it is not right. If a kid is going to commit his future to a school the the school needs to commit to that kids future also.

Justin, everything you just told me, had nothing to do with clocking the ball. I am not questioning why we would try to run 2 plays, obviously we were going to do that no matter what. As far as the throw, well sure IF its knocked down, its always too low. But if the guys hand in 2 inches the other way, I thought it was a strike for a TD, from what I saw on replay.

Very proud of our Dawgs Saturday night. Almost gave us a big celebration. Truly feel we are back on track and heading in the right direction. Kudos to the players and coaches. Only one question…..were we misaligned on D in the third qtr or what. They ran through us like crap through a goose.

I do not but he has every right to state his opinion as you do.

My question to you is this – What would have you done with 15 seconds and 1st and goal.

99.9% would have spiked the ball. We toss our chances going to the NCG because our coaches (god bless CMR) forgot about football fundemetals.

Hell my 7 year-old was scereaming spike the ball before I did.

Very sad not to at least had one maybe two plays

Georgia was deep in the Hunt this year once again under CMR. So He had a couple of down years! Most of them do….Maybe you guys should go back and look at where we were under Goff and Donnan. Betty: Alabama lost a similar SECCG game to Tebow-led Florida in 2008 then came back and beat Florida the following year then went on to win the National Championship. You can either learn from it and put it behind you or give up.

Bulldogs played spectacular, as did Bama. I know I would have hated to lose that game. I think both teams gave their all. the nation saw a great football game………..
