Matchup: Georgia rushing offense vs. Alabama rushing defense

Each day this week, the AJC will take a quick look at a matchup in the SEC Championship game. Today: Georgia’s rushing offense vs. Alabama’s rushing defense.

Georgia rushing offense

Key stats: Todd Gurley has run for 1,138 yards, more than any true freshman in UGA history except Herschel Walker. Keith Marshall — Gurley’s running mate and roomate — has run for 720 yards, eighth most by a UGA freshman.

Season high point: Of many impressive performances, Gurley’s 118 yards on 27 fumble-free carries against Florida’s stellar defense was tops.

Season low point: Gurley and Marshall had 39 and 37 yards, respectively, against South Carolina in Georgia’s lone loss. The offensive line struggled, but offensive coordinator Mike Bobo later lamented abandoning the run too soon.

Name to know: “Gurshall”

Alabama rushing defense

Key stats: Alabama is the toughest team in the SEC to run against, yielding 77 rushing yards per game. The Crimson Tide has allowed only seven rushing touchdowns all season and only one player to run for 100-plus yards (LSU’s Jeremy Hill, 107 on 29 carries).

Season high point: Alabama held Missouri to just three — three! — rushing yards.

Season low point: Alabama gave up 165 rushing yards in its loss to Texas A&M, including 92 on 18 carries by quarterback Johnny Manziel.

Name to know: Senior nose guard Jesse Williams is from Brisbane, Australia, one of only four Australians playing FBS football at a position other than punter.

@Preston; thanks and completely agree… Our D will wear down, if we can’t maintain drives, and run the clock. As always, ball security will also be key.

UGA has a chance to win it all this season. They must take advantage of it because you never know when the chance will be there again. UGA was ripped off in 2007 when LSU jumped past them to play for the nc. UGA was the best team athe end of the 2007 season and deserves to be called the nc for 2007. There is is approved.

The key to this game for UGA is which Murray shows up. The monkey is off his back that he can’t beat a top 10 team. Bama plays solid football but their O was so bad at LSU they had to punt 7 times and converted 3rd down 1 time. A win for the Dawgs.

Murray doesn’t run like Texas A&M’s quarterback Johnny Manziel, but he does throw better than any other quarterback in the SEC. If we are to beat Alabama it will mean that Bobo gets creative in his play calling. Gurshall will be stopped at the line if we try to run it up the middlee. No one has been able to run up the middle against Alabama, but you can throw to your running backs in the flats.
The question is NOT the O-Line against theirs, the question is “Is Mike Bobo up to the challenge of innovative play calling for an entire game?

Bama’s offense is not the concern – they’re special teams and the ability of their defense to control games is the wall the Dawgs must climb. If our O line can crank a running game – and if Murray is on – the Dawgs are going to Notre Dame. This team has gotten better each and every game since teh SC loss – they have not peaked and I think the attitude and hunger is there for a victory. Bama has been exposed againt A&M and LSU – they are not invincible……GO DAWGS!

The SECCG is really the National Championship game, because both Alabama and UGA will run the Golden Domers right out of the stadium. Notre Dame is tough, no doubt. But they haven’t seen or competed against the speed that they are going to see from either time on both sides of the ball. Here’s to hoping it’s the red and black. Glory, glory to old Georgia!

I think it will come down to offensive line play by the dawgs. If we can establish any type of a run game then we have a good chance to win the game. Hopefully Bobo learned something against SC and will give Murray what he needs to work the quick passes against a strong rush.

Murray may have to win this one by himself. The losses to Marlon and Bennett will be felt in this one. I like throwing to our tight ends. Go dawgs…

Dawgs will likely struggle to run the ball, but must keep doing so. The 2 and 3 yard carries in the first half will help keep AL from pinning their ears back and rushing Murray and will turn into 5 and 6 yard gains in the second half.

Murray has not performed well in games against top flight competition. Just this year, he was 11-39 for only 109 yards against USC and against the gators it was 12-24 for 150 with 3 interceptions. Very unlikely that the Dawgs can get a W if Murray has anywhere near that kind of day.

Bama will move the ball on our day and we need to get some turnovers and force field goals, but I think if we run the ball 15 times in the first half, we will be able to throw the ball effectively. Think we need to score in the upper 20’s to give us the best chance to get into the national title game.

Most important game of Murray’s career and most important of Richt’s as well. If Murray can go 19-33 with two touchdowns and one INT think the Dawgs have a good shot and Murray’s draft stock will rise.

Georgia will win………If CMB don’t try and run up the gut if the play is not there. That’s one of the big mistakes he made in last year C’ship game. Also CMB stop doing what was working which was running and throwing from side to side and vertically( throwing) He gave the LSU defense confidence with running the ball up the gut. Also if CMB use ALL 5 BACKS it will wear down the Bama defense with some playaction. If Gurshall is not having success early hopefully he will throw in RS & Boo. I think we can be able to run the toss sweep which hasn’t been used much since the 2 or 3 week of the season. Bottom line we have block and come the ball quick but Ga will win and shut Bama down. Go dawgs

Maybe Bobo will start Murray out with some quick, short passes to get him calmed down – you know he will get “amped’ for this one.

Rambo is right, UGA’s starting 22 is as good or better than Bama’s. The difference is Bama’s depth, which hopefully won’t matter in 1 game.

Win this game and Richt and Murray both shed the “can’t win a big game” images.

The key is protect Murray. With time and the way he spreads the ball around our passing game should open up the running game. Maybe it’s just me, but it looks like yards after contact come against our defenders because we are going for the stripe first and the tackle second. We can’t do that against Alabama’s backs. Hit them hard and wrap up. I would rather Rambo show us than talk trash about who has the better players. Maybe the South Carolina game would have been better if he had not let his team down. Anybody else notice how Jessie Palmer is getting more and more like Lou Holtz by always gloating about how great Florida is like Holtz does about Notre Dame and South Carolina? It about made me puke to hear him go on and on about Florida having the best defense and the only reason they lost to Georgia was because of 6 turnovers. I sure was hoping for a Notre Dame loss to USC so we could have a rematch with Florida for the NCG.

You can bet the farm that Saban knows getting Dawgs off the field and helpless on offense is to get to Murray with Pressure and tight man coverage on his wideouts……and Bama will do that. Richt /Bobo better have a game plan to counter that, because that’s what we’ll see.

This one will come down to our O-line and Murray. The O-line only have to block these guys for a split second, Gurley or Marshall would be gone before they could react. Murray really scares me, he don’t play well after being rushed or hit hard. The only thing I can judged him by is the games he played against top teams. Murray have to play like he did on the scoring drive against Florida for else for us to beat them. If not Alabama would makes this game laughable and by the second half they would be getting their minds focus on Notre Dame. BoBo help Murray out and call screen and short passes to get him in a rhythm. Mark Rict this is our chance no more excuses!

I’ve been saying this for weeks… Florida’s D is better than Bama’s. They play the pass better. Bama has trouble getting to the passer and their secondary has holes in it. The Dawgs ran the ball well against UF and they will run it well against Bama because they will have to respect the pass. Our line has improved and I think that we can make Bama pay for thinking they can handle our line with just 7 in the box. If they move somebody up to take away the run, look for big plays in the passing game.
Bobo needs to take the leash off Murray and let him run it some if for no other reason than to put doubt in the Bama Defenders minds. They were embarrassed by A&M. I think we run the ball better than A&M and our passing game is very good. If we run hurry up all game it will drive Saban nuts. He has personnel packages that he inserts into the game based upon down and distance and if we take that away it will be a major advantage.
The Dawgs will run the ball and be decently successful. If Gurley or Marshall break one it will be a major dagger in Bama’s heart. They cannot afford to dare us to throw. I’m sure Saban is thinking “why did it have to be the most balanced offense in college football?” He would have loved to have faced UF. They could afford to stuff the run against UF. They can’t against UGA.

Bama does have a much better O than FL. The Georgia D will have to have a complete “A” game. Bama also has a weaker D than FL. Pound for pound, FL has one of the better defenses in the country and it pains me to say that. The Georgia offense will score. How much they score will depend on Bobo finding and exploiting the secondary weaknesses of Bama. A few successful passes and the running game will soften. Bama will have their hands full

I love the over-confidence of Bama…though to be fair, there are Dawg fans a bit overconfident as well…though in much lower numbers. The truth is, Bama has a more experienced and disciplined team than UGA…and I’m not talking just Seniors vs. Freshman. Many of the players on this team have won SEC Championships and National Championships. Saban is unquestionable a fantastic coach for college football.

With that being said, UGA can beat Bama. The teams are eerily similar. Bama’s strength is their offensive line. If they have their way with us up-front, we lose. If we have moderate success running the ball on our end, that sets up the play-action which could be the difference-maker in the game.

If both teams have moderate success running the ball, it comes down to turnovers and most likely Big Game Murray. This is not a mismatch. If Saban had a month to prepare for this game, I think UGA would be in a lot of trouble. With one week to prepare, I think this game goes the distance. My biggest concern is not so much Bama’s o-line, but that our boys have been playing an option for two straight weeks. It is going to take UGA a quarter or more to settle down against an NFL-style offense. If UGA weathers that, it is anyone’s game.

Hey folks, lets not act like we’ve got some special, heretofore never revealed, news about the offensive line needing to excel. It’s always about the line of scrimmage…if our guys, on either side of the ball, don’t dominate or, at least, hold their own against those other guys, we don’t stand much of a chance of winning…and that goes for the Alabama team as well. Play it straight up guys…don’t bite on the play action – it’s what put us that hole in SC – of course Ala doesn’t have a Lattimore but they do have a good running game and a good QB. I like our chances, but they’re still ‘chances’…which can go either way. But better here than Columbia, Auburn, Knoxville, or just about any other place you can name.

A&M handled your boys in the trenches pretty well. Our defensive front is as big and good as your OL. Our OL are coming into their own. You have to pray your defense can shut down our offense and make it one dimensional. Good luck with that while your secondary is fruit waiting to be plucked

I think you should probably re-read what you are saying before you post it under the name “Lord Saban”, because every good Alabama fan knows that Nick Saban tells his players day in and day out that they cannot write off their opponent. UGA has the potential to beat Alabama. By posting these comments, you are making Alabama fans look bad and you are discrediting a very talented UGA team. You can have confidence in our team without looking ignorant.

    SEC IMPLEMENTS BCS PLAYOFF-
This kind of keeps happening, doesn’t it? The SEC championship game is a play in, again, to the BCS title game. I think last years BCS title, featuring TWO SEC teams is what forced the BCS’ hand and made them create the four team playoff for 2014. But hey, we’ve got half of it right now. The #2 and #3 teams are playing in the SEC championship game to be in the BCS title game.

It would be the 7th consecutive National Championship for the SEC if they win. There has never been such conference dominance in NCAA football, has there?

No matter who wins that game, Notre Dame will be facing as many future NFL players, in one game, as they’ve seen the whole season. With the long recovery time available for the SEC winner, it’s hard to see Notre Dame staying in the game till the end.

This could be the game of the century…UGA is a fantastic team which is playing very well right now.
Alabama needs to stop the run and make Murray throw and get pressure. If we don’t do that, UGA will roll. I hate that ESPN is already talking about a ND – Alabama NC.

I agree that Bama is the best team until someone beats them to take their place. They should be favored and it will take an enormous game from the Dawgs to win. Yes, it is possible as everyone knows anything can happen in College Football.
Bobo needs to open that play book up and not be afraid to try anything. Bottom line is that if we can’t run the ball, forget it.

GA’s offensive line seems to me to be the key to the outcome. If they can protect Murray and crete a few holes for Gurley/Marshall, GA has a chance. I think the GA defense can keep the Bama offense stalemated for the most part — if they can’t, the Dawgs are sunk for sure. Give Bama credit for experience in the big games and one of America’s finest coaches. GA is playing very well, has plenty of motivation and the talent to win, however. I see if very close, a really exciting game, GA winning 20-17.

O line will dictate everything. Cliche’ answer I know but it’s true. If the O line shows up then the running game should be ok. If Murray isn’t running for his life or expected to account for 100% of the offense through the passing game then we should be ok. If they can refrain from multiple 3 and outs then the D should be able to get their breath and continue to play tough and make plays.

IMO it all rests on the O line. If there are no holes to run through and Murray is constantly under pressure then forget about it.

Bacarri Rambo may have seemed too brash saying UGA is more talented, but ESPN college guys have also been saying UGA is more talented. Since the Tide now have some bulletin board material, UGA coaches may as well show some highlights from the Blackout game and print out those old Pat Dye comments from 2002 about UGA not being man enough to play with Bama.

Maybe that kind of thing is overblown, but both teams will certainly have something to prove on Saturday.

Murray is too short to see over the line. He needs gaps to open to see downfield, similar to Drew Brees. The problem is that precision blocking is required to form the classic ‘pocket’ that Murray can see thru and step into his throws. If you O-Line cannot get that done, Murray suffers.

Florida and SC are better at getting to the QB with a base defense than the current Bama team, but Bama is still good enough that they will disrupt Murray.

Despite what many think, the answer is NOT short, quick passes. The answer is to pound the ends with runs and pulling guards to wear them down early. When you do go for a quick strike pass, throw a quick fly DOWN THE FIELD instead of these silly WR screens. Those screens work against GaTech and Auburn because the DB’s were below average tackling, but they will not work against a strong defense.

I repeat. Tire the DLine out by pounding the ball at them, particularly on the edge (but not a wide toss). When you see a single covered WR on the outside, adapt the play to a quick fly to beat the pass rush, possibly gain big yardage, and about 25% of the time get a penalty on the D. Do not throw short passes that the Alabama LB’s and CB’s are known for jumping the routes on, as those are pick sixes waiting to happen.

    Silly Bloggers

    November 26th, 2012
    1:18 pm

I believe Bama’s defense is better, but not by a wide margin…if UGA plays the same level of defense they have played since Florida, it is a toss-up. As for these comments about GT and Georgia Southern running yards against us…who cares? It is an option offense. They get running yards. Tech got over 170 of their total yards in the 4th quarter when our starters were out. If you want to skew your defensive rank against the run, play an option. Alabama would give up a ton of yards to Tech and Georgia Southern…just far less than their regular opponents.

    Silly Bloggers

    November 26th, 2012
    1:20 pm

And the problem with the option is that if you are defending it well it is very, very difficult to score in the redzone when the field is shortened…as seen first-hand in both games UGA played against the option. GT typically scores on home-run plays. If they run into a good defense, they get yards, but not points. Lastly, GT held the ball for what? 40 minutes against UGA?

For the delusional dog fans who think UGA’s defense is better, I invite you to examine the stats for yourselves here: http://www.ncaa.com/stats/football/fbs/current/team/1042/p1

Defense: Alabama (opponents 9.25 pts/game) yields 3.9 yds per play while UGA (opponents 17.67 pts/game) yields 4.97 yds/play–decided advantage to Bama
Offense: Alabama (scored 61 TDs) gains 6.9 ypp while UGA (62 TDs) gains 7.04–roughly even

Also, the espn talking heads are saying UGA has more draft-eligible talent on defense. Remember, Bama lost four defensive players in the first 35 picks last year; they are a very young defense. If you watch the next two NFL drafts you will see more players selected from Alabama than UGA…

For them to win they should spread Bama’s defense and kill there predestrian secondary with quick passes, screens, draws, ect. Then hit them over the top. Jump on them early then return to smash mouth football one a solid lead is established.

Sunday-Tuesday: UGA players and fans begin believing their press clippings (see Jarvis Jones, AJC headlines, Nick Saban’s comments on UGA’s overrated defense). Delusion among Dawg Nation is epidemic.
Wednesday: Bowed up, obnoxious UGA fans begin arriving in Atlanta from the four corners of the State. Many have quit their jobs because their bosses wouldn’t give them the whole week off.
Thursday-Friday: The media frenzy reaches biblical proportions. More bulletin boards are delivered to the Alabama training facility. They are quickly filled.
Saturday: Bama wins 35-14. UGA’s points are all scored in the fourth quarter against Bama’s third team defense. UGA racks up 45 yards of total offense.
The Month of December: UGA fans blame everyone and everything for the loss rather than just admitting that their team got outplayed (the officials, Mike Bobo, the NCAA, Paul Johnson, the NFL, the WWE, the Georgia Dome playing surface, the media, solar flares, global warming, and insert your own ridiculous reason here).

Your job is done here. You can leave our blog and let us wallow in “what could have been. ” Really… you set us straight. You deserve a metal for taking time out of your busy day attempting make us UGA fans see the light. You guys are so kind.

Do me one last favor, OK? Promise me you will be back here next week to consol us because God knows there is no way that Bama can lose… No way…

Now that they are gone…For the Dawg fans… Let ‘em run there mouth. Let ‘em point out how much harder their schedule was than ours. Let ‘em talk about the dominance of their O line and their defense. Let ‘em point out that UGA never shows up for big games. Let ‘em put down Bobo and Murray and CMR. It is our team’s job to show the world that we are not the same old UGA that they are used to seeing.

But if our team plays the game we know they are capable of… If Murrary and the O line chose to ignore history and write a new chapter of our legacy… If our defense continues to play like they have in the past few games and shuts down the Bama offense, then we can enjoy the deafening silence of the “Bama” fans next week and revel in all of the Notre Dame fans who will appear on this blog, telling us how we can never match up with a national powerhouse like Notre Dame. I’m still confused on how UGA is even ranked 3rd when you continually avoid LSU, Bama, and now luckily Texas A&M their first year in during the regular season. You play the easiest possible SEC schedule, had a complete cupcake of a non-conference schedule, and only played two ranked teams and got blown out by one of them. Do we even know who this team is? It hasn’t even been hit hard or challenged since Florida. I’m not fan of Oregon or Kansas St., but who is to say GA is ever better than they are? You can’t always use the SEC thing as an excuse because you’d never schedule teams like that and leave the state to play them anyway. I mean it’s a given any of the one-loss, and even some two-loss teams, could beat Notre Dame. I know UGA fans love to avoid playing the top-tier teams in the country and get off on beating garbage teams, but once again you’re in for a rude-awakening this Saturday. There is a reason nobody outside the state of Georgia really gives two $hits about this program, but here’s your chance to change a few minds and play the easiest possible opponent in the title game.

On ESPN early Sunday am, the “talking heads” (including David Green, no less) had a “(DIS)cussion about the Dawgs chances in the SEC Title Game. Greene was a bit more positive but the other two clowns were so enamored with Notre Dame that they almost wet their pants awaiting the crowning of the “Golden” boys as NC’s.

The Dawgs have two BIG problems: running against Bama and being as tight as 16 war drums in a Seminole Indian compound. GEEZ! If someone touches one during the first 15 minutes he (the player) will disintegrate!

My heart bleeds Red and Black; unfortunately my WALLET bleeds green and therein lies the bottom line: Bama will somehow do against the Dawgs…sorta like The (S)aint’s do it against the Falcons no matter how good they are or appear to be. FINAL: Bama – 24, Dawgs – 17.

That beat’s the spread (I took the 7 points).

This is not bad-mouthing the Dawgs, only being realistic.

I am not sure that it means anything at all about who will win. But, the SEC measures 33 statistical categories on the SEC sports website for the 2012 season. In those categories Alabama is ahead of UGA in 24, UGA is ahead in 8 and they are tied in 1. I would like to hear from reasonable fans on both sides what they think about this? I keep hearing that Alabama’s defense is not this or not that, well they still have the number one defense in the country statistically. I also keep hearing that UGA has a better offense than Alabama, and I think I agree with that. But, statistically that is not the case. Thoughts?

Not Impressed, ….the SEC schedules the SEC games and the West conference teams are rotated. Ga was supposed to play Bama this year but the additions of A&M and Missouri changed that….not Ga’s fault…check next year’s schedule….

What’s going to be funny is when UGA loses to Bama after talking so much garbage about them and their fans and then turns around and roots for them to win the title vs Notre Dame. Typical SEC fans to have to get their thrills watching another team in their conference win the title instead of winning it themselves. I can already hear the, yaaaaaaaaawn…SEC SEC SEC chants now.

Let’s us slug it out and send the best team possible against all the naysayers from up north (and out west)…..They all have really been trash talking the SEC. Even the left coasters are pulling for the Irish!

“I also keep hearing that UGA has a better offense than Alabama, and I think I agree with that. But, statistically that is not the case. Thoughts?”

Actually stats say BAMA’s offense is ranked before UGA by a couple of spots. That offense ranking doesn’t not consider SOS. BAMA’s SOS is ranked #25 with 49pts while UGA’s #48 with 58pts. So if you consider SOS, BAMA’s O is clearly ahead of UGA’s.

But stats cannot be applied to an individual game, which is why you have to play the game. But stats do give you a better odd when you bet your house on it.

The fact is Saban has history and experience on his side. They are clearly the favorite for the win. Most Dawgs would agree with that. However, most people think if the right Georgia team shows up they have a chance. Of course, I remember a Tebow and Florida team that appeared unstoppable getting beat in the SEC as well. You don’t know the outcome until the game is played. I will say to the trolls who are again dissing the Dawgs and their fans, after a long season of predicting dawg losses against MIzzu, Vandy, Tennessee, Florida, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Auburn, Ga Southern, and Tech guess if you predict the dawgs to loose every weekend you might get 1 or 2 right every season, but how does it feel when the clock runs out and you are wrong the other 11 times?

It will be a brutal physical war. No way Bama should be a 7+ point favorite. I would NOT take that spread. Key to victory – In my opinion it depends on whether or not Bama can get to Murray early. If so – it will be a long day for Georgia. If Bama cannot- Murray will pick Bama apart. If your passing game is working – your run game will work….(not the other way around). Entire game hinges on Murray. I will say this in Bama’s favor – Murray is not near as fast as Johnny Manziel……but good luck to you guys. I really like Mark Richt – he’s a classy dude. Whomever wins I hope the SEC kicks ND’s a%$…….

@ I smell Hypocracy… Sure there are a few UGA fans who are posting that UGA will “Blowout” Bama, but they are by far in the minority. Looking back on this blog, there are very few “reasonable” UGA fans that are talking any trash. However, the vast majority of the Bama fans, with the main exception being Bamafan, are prediciting a Bama blowout and bad mouthing UGA and their fans.

I, for one, believe that UGA is definately an underdog… as we should be. However, I believe that this will be one of the best games of the NCAA season and will be very close.

As for pulling for Bama in the National Championship if UGA loses, of course I will! We are part of the SEC and we have pride in our conference. As much as I dislike Florida, I would still pull for them in any game with an out of conference opponent. I don’t know who your team is, but based on your tone, I bet it has been beaten plenty of times by other SEC teams besides UGA. I understand the jealousy, but man: Don’t Hate the Playa… Hate the Game!

Andy,I am a Bama fan but stats can be misleading. We played Arky without Tyler Wilson,Mizzou without Franklin at qb,etc. We didn’t play a great schedule, but neither did UGA. Bama has not had a great pass rush this year without blitzing, secondary is still green. Bama must pressure without blitzing too much and win the turnover battle(We haven’t done a good job there in the last 3 weeks)Ga. is a good team and this one could go either way,I think.

What most don’t realize is that Murray can run (ran for over 1,000 yards his junior year in high school) and ran well his 1st and 2nd year in college but he has been told not to run this year – for the most part. Murray ain’t no slow poke – has run a 4.6 40. Will he be released in this game – maybe but not early. With the success of Manziel I believe Murray will run the ball at least 7 to 8 designed runs. Don’t get me wrong Manziel is very elusive but Murray can run too.

Georgia needs to play like Texas A&M did to beat BAMA…that was a hot knife thru butter – until bama figured out how to slow them down and also started scoring.

I really think BAMA learned from that game (more than from the LSU game).

That said, Georgia doesn’t have “Johnny Football” – fast, talented runner, strong passer, quick thinker. Also, the only apples to apples comparison that can be made is how each performed against the same opponent.

Missouri: scored 20 points against G and 10 against A
FL Atl: scored 20 points against G and 7 against A
Ole Miss: scored 10 points against G and 14 against A
Tennessee: scored 44 points against G and 13 against A

So that is 50 more points that common opponents scored against Georgia.

Also, in the last 5 games Bama played 3 ranked teams, Georgia played 1. That helps Bama I think.

I could be wrong – hey, this is just educated guessing – but I think this all equates to:

    1) Georgia not being able to stop BAMA’s run and making throwing by AJ easier
    2) Lack of dynamic passer means low passing yardage for Murray
    3) Bama’s superior D Line stifles Georgia’s running game.

Georgia played 1 ranked team in the last 5 games and Bama played 3. That is hard to ignore.

My prediction is Bama by 17 and Georgia is held to UNDER 17 points.

As a P.S. to my earlier comment let me add this…while I am a Bama fan (they own a serious portion of my bank account – lol) I truly love SEC football. I think the personalities, history and rivalries of the conference are second to none (and I’ve got close personal ties to several other storied conferences).

I DO believe Bama will win this game based on how I asses the the matchup – I called Texas A&Ms win over Bama while watching them lose to LSU based on what I saw there – but if Georgia wins, I will be smiling ear-to-ear as they take Notre Dame apart.

    God Bless the SEC!

The way most of the so called experts are talking this week Alabama should not even get off of the bus, Alabama has no chance. Alabama is over rated because they struggled with LSU and the next week vs Texas A&M they lost a close game to quite possibly a Heisman Trophy type performance. I guess my question is how much better is Alabama if A.J. and Yeldon do not botch their hand-off vs LSU and they go up 21 to 10 or how much better are they if A.J. connects on 4th and 2 vs A&M? Would the so called experts view them any differently? I don’t know if Alabama will win this game or not but I do believe that it is very rare for a team to be in position to defend their National title at this point in the season and to me this makes beating Alabama an even bigger challenge. I truly believe that Georgia will get the very best that Alabama has to offer and if they win it will certainly be well deserved.
