Georgia game story: Dogs breeze past Jackets with ease, 42-10

ATHENS -- SEC Eastern Division championship? Check (clinched Nov. 10 at Auburn).

Victory against rival Georgia Tech? Check (42-10 on Saturday at Sanford Stadium).

Date with Alabama in the Georgia Dome with a national championship berth on the line? Coming this week.

The No. 3-ranked Bulldogs (11-1) cleared their last hurdle toward making next week’s SEC Championship game matchup against the No. 2 Crimson Tide (11-1) the most meaningful game for Georgia in three decades. The last time Georgia had this much on the line in one game was at the end of the 1982 season when the No. 1-ranked and undefeated Bulldogs took on No. 2 Penn State in the Sugar Bowl. The Nittany Lions won that one 27-23, and Herschel Walker turned pro a few weeks later.

Bama, the defending national champion, easily defeated Auburn on Saturday in Tuscaloosa, Ala., to secure the Western Division’s bid into the SEC Championship game.

“Well, the Southeastern Conference championship, first of all, stands alone as a very important event,” Georgia coach Mark Richt said. “The chance to get back to Atlanta is fantastic. To have a chance to win our league in any year is huge. That means a lot to us. What happens beyond that, of course, will be decided by the voters and all that kind of thing. But it does look like the winner of the game … more than likely is going to go play for the national championship.”

Great game. Bring on the Tide ( or whoever)!!!

Foolish fans hating Richt and Bobo must be feeling low. GT was rolling their last 5 games.

Good win. I believe that makes the Dawgs GA state champs Tenn state champs and now if they beat Bama they will be Ala state champs. By virtue or beating two teams from each state. Then its time to become National Champs. GO DAWGS.

as i said, over by the half……and now i will say this….GEORGIA is not man enough to beat ALABAMA, Georgia is too soft…….

Now that i have said that, Go you hairy dawgs all the way to Atlanta to remove the curse of the blackout and roll the tide!
The dawgs are rolling, and nothing but Aron Murry can stop them!

Just how low can the ACC go? The Dawgs played well, but playing Tech is getting too easy – there is no competition, and it can hurt us in the ratings playing some Div 3 JV team this late in the season.

Great game DAWGS Bammer can be beat LSU and Aggies provided the blueprint. Stop the run. there front seven isnt what it was last year or year before and there line isnt as great as all of the sport writers have made them out to be.. Its going to be a fight, Aaron has to come up out on fire like he did today and DAWGS will win. OUR TEAM OUR TIME NO REGRETS GO DAWGS!!!!!!!

I know it is still early, but if Notre Dame gets past USC and we get past Bama, the 2012 National Championship game will be a rematch of the 1980 National Championship game. Go Dawgs!!!!

Congratulations to Dawg fans on UGA’s victories over my two teams (Southern and Tech), but UGA has little chance against Alabama. The Tide plays about one crappy, out-of-character game a year and they’ve already had it against Texas A&M. There won’t be another.

John Jenkins came back in the game. He was also laughing and joking and jumping on the sideline. He should be fine therefore.

Gators are beating FSU 13-0 right now. Anybody (that we beat) winning is a great thing for us.

I hope the OVERRATED Notre Dame squeaks by USC tonight.

I knew that the GT Defense (lol) was bad, but I have never seen GT that bad against Georgia. Richt called off the Dawgs early ( pund intended), or this one could have been a whole lot uglier. Georgia needs to keep playing good fundamental football and I think that the rest will take care of itself. I believe that Ga is the most complete team in the Top 10 rIght now.

6 and 6 and playing in the ACC Championship. Nuff said. Weak, Weak, Weak. The Jackets could not even beat GA Southern. They don’t even have a 2 minute offense. High school teams have 2 minute offenses. Everyone can brag about Paul Johnson not even having a note pad. Perhaps he should get a note pad so that he could get the play in before the play clock expires in the last two minutes of the 1st half. Tech is 2nd rate football, at best.

Go Dawgs.

Hey ‘Is the dawgs starting lineup still in the Athens jail?’ it’s BIggun not Big gun. I can’t spell and you can’t read so I guess we are even, except on the score board! By the way I was spotting you a “D” since your team does’nt have one.

November 24th, 2012
5:55 pm

We could have easily scored 63 maybe 70… we cruised after the 2 TD’s in the 3rd quarter. Defense gave up yardage but not points and that is what counts.
So now begins the “yeah but you’ve got no chance against Alabama” crap. You’d better believe Saban will tell his players how much of a chance we have against his team. He knows where his weaknesses are. Key to the game is how well we run the ball. If we can run the ball against UF we can run it on Bama. And their coverage isn’t nearly as good.
Sorry Bammers, we aren’t buying your BS… we can and WILL win next week. Start cooking up the excuses now.

How much did the Dawgz have to pay Tech to take that azz whuppin’?

November 24th, 2012
6:40 pm

1. mark richt is a decent man and unlike paterno or tressal he will not create any scandals
2. he may not be as good as saban but so what —–
3. georgia missed a lot of easy tackles in this game and it seemed strange the big nose guards did not get in the backfield consistently so something must change to beat alabama
4. is alabama over rated and not great if so georgia will be in the nc but we have to get some luck not to fritter away the ball
5. can murray avoid the sack and when he is rolling out with lots of space why not run for 10 yards instead of passing into coverage

November 24th, 2012
6:43 pm

stop knocking mark richt as he is honorable man
georgia missed a lot of tackles and this can not happen against alabama
murray needs to run when the field in open instead of passing into coverage

Know what time it is? It’s time for angry Tech fans (who claim that football means nothing, but write angry comments every day on these articles) to change their “name” to look like Bama fans so you can still talk smack against the team that is in your mind 24/7/365…

Richt is a merciful man. He pulled the plug very early to keep the score in the 40s. He did the same thing in the Auburn game. So the gap between the two programs is much greater than the score showed.

Tide Roll,

Where are you buddy? How are you feeling right now. Our running backs were running 12 yds before they were even touched. GaTech is the worst team we have played this year. Including buffalo and FIU. It’s like playing a directional school, kicking their ass and not having to pay them a million $. Go Dawgs! Tuck Fech and Tide Roll. Losers.

Wow…to all you Ga. Tech fans that are whining….your team wasn’t good enough. Get over it. As far as the Dawgs go…I think it really is a 50/50 shot on who wins. UGA and BAMA are both great teams and I am praying for a UGA victory.
