And just like that, Georgia controls its own destiny for a national title shot.
Same for Alabama. That’s the end result of Saturday’s BCS chaos.
No. 1 Kansas State (52-24 to Baylor) and No. 2 Oregon (17-14 in overtime to Stanford) went down in major upsets. That means No. 3 Notre Dame will move up to No. 1 in next week’s BCS standings and No. 4 Alabama and No. 5 Georgia should slide up right behind at 2 and 3, respectively.
If the Bulldogs (10-1) and Crimson Tide (10-1) can get to the SEC Championship game unscathed — each must survive rival games against Georgia Tech and Auburn, respectively, next Saturday — it will turn the Dec. 1 Georgia Dome classic into a BCS championship semifinal. The winner advances to the title game, giving the SEC a shot at a seventh consecutive national championship.
ESPN college football analyst and BCS expert Brad Edwards predicted that Notre Dame, Alabama and Georgia would take over the top three spots when the new rankings come ouot at 8:30 p.m. Sunday. Notre Dame has never been ranked No. 1 in the BCS era.
Georgia’s players were paying attention and took to Twitter to share their feelings.
Shortly after Stanford pulled off the second upset of the night, quarterback Aaron Murray sent out this tweet from his Twitter account, @aaronmurray11: “Yesssssssssssss!!!!!! The Murray household just went crazyyyyy!!!!!! #dawgsontop” Murray lives with teammates Dustin Royston, Artie Lynch, Ty Frix and Christian Robinson.
A short time later, All-American outside linebacker Jarvis Jones, aka @SacManJones_29, tweeted: “TURNT up.. Leggo BULLDAWG NATION!!”
Others:
Georgia defeated Georgia Southern 45-14 Saturday to improve to 10-1 on the season. The Bulldogs have already secured the Eastern Division’s berth into the SEC Championship game. But first they have to get by archrival Georgia Tech (6-4), which visits Athens next Saturday for a noon kickoff.

“It’s not fair, Georgia doesn’t deserve to be ranked so high! They haven’t played anybody and we beat them early in the season! I’m going to whine about Georgia’s schedule since the Gators hammered my team’s butt in Gainesville and because my team choked away the lead for the SEC East two years in a row!”

I’m pulling for Notre Dame next week. I’d like to see them play in the big game because of their awesome defense and their beast linebacker from Hawaii. I’m more concerned about Georgia playing Tech next week than what the other teams are doing. Because me pulling for a team to lose is not going to change how the other teams play. Here’s to hoping the dawgs win again over our rivals from Atlanta. I say the dawgs give up some yards, but the game against Southern helps prepare us for Lee and Washington. Dawgs 38 Jackets 20

As the season started we saw a inexperienced oline. They’ve gained vaulable experience going through the SEC east. Lets them gain some more experience which is needed before Saban brings the Tide into the dome against tech. Seems having a lil warmup against gsu helped prepare for pj’s option. Cant wait for them to meet Gurshall, and SackManJones!

As a loyal Tech grad, I would like nothing better than upsetting UGA’s plans for a NC game but it will not happen. Tech simply cannot handle the UGA offense. It pains me to say so but it is true.
How pathetic of you to only hold onto the hopes of being able to spoil someone’s year instead of recognizing that your school’s year is already lost and then rooting for a team from your home state to carry the torch instead of us all being shut out. Stay out West, you scumbag. Obviously, no one here wanted you to work for them.

Does Ga control there destiny? What if UCLA defeats Stanford and Oregon goes on to win the Pac12 with just 1 overtime loss? Is it possible they would be #2 with Ga #3…even if Ga wins the sec and has 1 loss. Thus…I want USC to beat ND and Stanford to beat USC. If either of those happen then Ga definitely controls its on destiny.

Don’t flatter yourself, sweet pea. We are still around and still correct. Because of Richt, we are 10-1 instead of 11-0 and looking at the possibility of getting shunned from the NC title instead of being a shoo-in for it – despite our cupcake schedule this year.
Make no mistake you who are gloating over the misfortunes of others, MARK RICH WILL NEVER BRING UGA A NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE. He simply does not have the stuff of which championship coaches are made. He is soft and his teams are soft and undisciplined. He cares too much about how people perceive him and therefore can never bring himself to truly annihilate an opponent because he does dot want to be seen as a bad sport. These things do not concern the likes of Saban, Meyers, Miles, Chizik (Dear God it hurts to even have to type that), Fulmer, or Spurrier – all of whom have won BCS National Championships for SEC teams.
We have a mild-mannered religiously-minded former insurance salesman who can recruit talent with his Christian schtick but cannot win the big games. Why don’t we all just admit that and be content to see our players leave after 3 years for the NFL where they get coached up to their full potential and just be happy to be consistently in the upper middle class of the SEC?

This is a great day to be a Dawg, but aren’t they all? Oz, other haters of CMR: Listen up. Despite it being in our DNA, UGA football isn’t everything. CMR knows this and if his focus isn’t championship at all costs every year, that’s good, I accept that. It’s way past time we stopped judging people by wins and losses alone. To back up my point: look at some of the people who just won reelection. Judge them by wins, they are golden, go by their miserable track record, another story.
CMR is helping boys become men and this nation desperately needs good men. If we win a BSC Championship along the way, it’s a bonus. Having said that, let’s beat Tech Satruday and Roll UP the Tide in the Dome and bring on the Irish! Go Dawgs!

Hey Dawgs. I’m true blue Auburn and the three teams I hate the most are Florida, Bama, and Notre Dame. You’ve beat one of them. Now it’s time to go out and finish the job. Crush Bama then Winn the national championship. If you can do that for me, then the season won’t be a total lost.

Fellow Dawgs yes they cotrol their own destiny but remember Tech is the opponent this week and they have to come out the way they have against Vanderbilt, Florida and Auburn and just take care of business. Who would have thunk it that after not showing up in Columbia that the Dawgs would be in a position to not only win a SEC Championship but MNC as well. Winning takes care of a lot of ills huh.

Things have gotten interesting! Georgia wins out, and ND wins out–rematch of 1980 folks! Notre Dame loses, Gators beat FSU (tall order without Driskell), Gators vs Bama or Dawgs in the NC. Dawgs have a very tough road and they are going to have to keep improving each week to have a chance, especially the O line and D! Despite the badmouthing of the haters, Tech is similar to Baylor–great offensive stats, terrible defensive stats. They will be fired up and play over their heads. Georgia is set up because they may be thinking about the Dome. Going to take a great effort to beat the Bees. And then, if we win, we have to beat Alabama. Very, very difficult order, but Johnny Football showed it can be done. Dawgs will have to play the game of a lifetime. Congrats to the staff and team for not giving up after the Columbia disaster. Better bring the A++-game from here out.

Hey Alpo Breath ! Y’all settle down as an SEC fan I am pulling for you against Tech so that the SEC Championship game is meaningful. That being said, I hope the Alabama Crimson Tide beats you bloody treats you worse than a pet at M Vick’s house. The reason Bama got beat was QB play by A&M. I hope I’m wrong but I still don;t think AM can get it done in the big game……yea he hit the last 4 or 5 passes against Fla in the 4th qtr but he has to do well in all four against a team like Bama……LetS beat tech AND THEN am please PROVE ME WRONG AGAINST aLABAMA

It is really pretty simple. If the Tech OL can block the UGA defense Tech has a chance to knock them off. If not, UGA can name the score.

Most exciting time in 32 years to be a UGA BULLDOG, yes, 32 years. Mark Richt faces the biggest challenge of his up and down head coaching career over the next two weeks.
Mark Richt has reached judgement day as a football head coach, does he have what it takes to be included with the likes of other greats or not? We will know in two weeks –
I hope that Murray and C Robinson keep thier mouths shut for the next two weeks as well as the tweeting crap.
Aaron Murray had better raise his level of play for UGA to win, yet to make a difference in any game during 3 year career, well, he has made the difference in many loses but not a time to be negative.
Sunday, Nov 18, 2012 at 3 pm starts the biggest few weeks in the lives of our UGA players, coaches, alums and fans. GATA

Oregon is now out of the Pac-10 Championship, Stanford is going in their place, which means that they will drop lower than 5 in the BCS standing. It’s looking extremely favorable for the SEC right now, even with Notre Dame riding the top spot and Florida must be extremely excited. If Notre Dame happens to lose to USC next week and Florida beats Florida State, they could very well slip into the BCS CG just like Alabama did last year. Wouldn’t that be something, the SEC having two teams in the BCS CG two years in a row. Do you think Mays and Mush-mouths heads would explode, especially if its Georgia vs Florida in the BCS CG?
That would be sweet.
