WHAT THEY SAID AFTER GEORGIA’S 38-0 WIN OVER AUBURN
“It was a very outstanding performance by everybody — offense, defense, special teams.”
— Georgia coach Mark Richt
“We’re very excited about winning the East. We’re very excited about going to Atlanta. There’s no doubt about that. There’s a lot of work to be done between now and then. … I think we’ve been improving as we go, and hopefully we keep it going.”
— Richt on clinching the SEC East title and a berth in the SEC Championship game at the Georgia Dome
“Georgia is a very good football team. They are certainly worthy of their ranking. But I didn’t feel like we played well in any phase of the game.”
— Auburn coach Gene Chizik
“Our goal really was to start fast. That’s why we came out with the up-tempo, the no-huddle. We do no-huddle all the time, but we went a faster pace no-huddle with some set plays. … (Auburn) had done a great job of defending pro-style offenses all year, and the spread had given them a little trouble. So we went with more spread in the first half and were able to execute it. And once we kind of broke them down through the air, those running backs we have are pretty special.”
— Georgia offensive coordinator Mike Bobo
“I was just excited to wear his jersey to honor him and show I care about him .. I asked him earlier in the week if I could wear it. Hopefully I did well enough to (meet) his standards. Scored you a touchdown, big guy.”
— Georgia wide receiver Tavarres King, who wore the No. 15 jersey of injured teammate Marlon Brown and caught a 17-yard touchdown pass
“We looked up midway through the third quarter, and I was, like, ‘Man, we’ve got more fans here than they do right now.’ It is great to see how dedicated our fans are. … To get to celebrate with them after the game was awesome.”
— Quarterback Aaron Murray on the Bulldogs’ celebration with 10,000-plus UGA fans in Jordan-Hare Stadium long after the vast majority of Auburn fans had left
“We wanted to start fast and finish strong. We just came out here with a mentality to shut them out and get the offense rolling.”
— Georgia safety Bacarri Rambo
“We’ve got a lot of prideful guys, but also I think we’ve got some guys that have gotten better and more comfortable in the way they’re playing over these few weeks. I think the combination of the pride and work ethic these guys have (and) the ability to stay the course, that’s the key thing. When things aren’t going well, you’ve got to believe in what you’re doing and stay the course. If you do that, you get through things. That’s really what we’ve done.”
— Georgia defensive coordinator Todd Grantham on his unit’s improvement since a 35-7 loss to South Carolina in early October
“Georgia did what they had to do to win the game. They’re very good. They were very consistent running the ball. They have a good scheme.”
— Auburn linebacker Cassanova McKinzy

The way JM dismantled that bama secondary was a thing of beauty. Hell Mettenberger threw it all over Bama. Bama is not an invinceble team they are a good team with some flaws. They have a couple of backs who seems to put it on the ground at times. They also have a qb who forces throws when behind, he forced several against tamu. I would not put my hard earned money on uga to beat them, I also would not come on a blog if I were a Bama fan and talk smack.
just sayin

Auburn has really fallen big time. If Richt hadn’t quit playing football after Marshall’s TD early in the 3rd quarter, the score could have been much worse. Richt is never one to embarrass another SEC team who is down. So to Auburn fans … 38-0? The difference in the teams was much wider.
