‘It was obviously a pretty good beating Georgia put on us today’ (and other postgame comments)

“Ole Miss came out and did a very good job. In the first half, I thought they outplayed us, but we outscored them. I thought their defense outplayed our offense in the first half. Our defense settled in pretty quick.”

– Georgia coach Mark Richt

“It was obviously a pretty good beating that Georgia put on us today. Offensively, we just couldn’t make any plays to give our defense much hope. It was the first time this season that I felt like we were zapped of our passion. We knew it would be really tough to score a lot of points against Georgia.”

– Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze

“I was talking to Cornelius (Washington) on the sideline right after it happened, and I said, ‘That had to be the four craziest plays that ever happened in football.’”

– Georgia cornerback Damian Swann on the bizarre second-quarter sequence that produced four turnovers (two by each team) in a five-play span

“I thought it was huge to score right there when we basically screwed up a one-minute drive with very poor clock management on my part and the quarterback’s part. For him to make that play was huge.”

– Georgia offensive coordinator Mike Bobo on quarterback Aaron Murray’s touchdown pass to Tavarres King at the end of the first half

“And then getting the ball back (to start) the second half, it was good to convert the third down there on the first drive of the second half and get it going. We felt like if we could ever get going, we could do some things.”

– Bobo

“They have two guys that are going to be top-five draft picks, and they were just really tough to deal with.”

– Ole Miss quarterback Bo Wallace on Georgia’s defense

“It was definitely a step back (from the Florida game).”

Center David Andrews on the Georgia offensive line’s performance against Ole Miss, particularly during the first half when it allowed five sacks

“We were able to get in a rhythm. We were able to move the ball and put up some points and get the W.”

– Andrews on the offensive line’s play in the second half, when it allowed no sacks

“I think our defense played well and finished the game strong.”

– Georgia nose guard John Jenkins

“I told Marlon (Brown) he’ll be on the highlights for a long time now. Just a great job of protection, great play fake, great job of the running back faking it and getting knocked around. And Marlon did his job and was as open I’ve ever seen anyone.”

– Receiver Tavarres King, discussing the Aaron Murray-to-Brown trick-play touchdown pass in the second quarter

How are burnette and marlon Brown?

Dawgs can beat Bama. LSU was clearly the better team tonight.

Yes, to anyone watching the game tonight, it was clear that LSU was the better team. If UGA does not get them in the sec cg, Oregon or Kansas st will in the title game.

Sure Georgia can beat Bummer. Richt is 3 – 3 against Saban and beat Florida, the team that beat LSU. Bummer got lucky tonight. Georgia can definitely stay with Bummer but they need Marlon Brown. Hope his injury is not serious.

I was in the stadium and my seats are on row 12. I get to see a lot on the sidelines – this is my 28th year going to games and this was my 209th overall.
This group really seems to love each other. I don’t see any divas. The best players are also the ones rooting on everyone else.
I’d take this team in the 4th quarter over the 02, 03, 05, 07, or ‘10 team in a heartbeat.

Reign the hate on me as I say this… But looking at strengths and matchups…. I think we could beat Alabama. Go Dawgs

I would definitely rather play Bama than LSU. Yes, Creekwolf, LSU was the better team tonight. I didn’t see a Heisman hopeful under center for Bama. Bama may be strong against the run, although not so much tonight, but their pass defense is suspect. They only won tonight because LSU went soft on the last drive, not wanting to give up the big play. If they had played them the way they did all night, no way Bama scores.

Let’s get past Auburn and see Bama in the Dome.

Not sure if some of you saw the same game I did, but I saw a Bama QB show great poise and leadership in leading his team down to victory. It was a great game, still believe the better team won, but LSU did outplay them for the most part, but not when it counted. I guess that’s why it’s a 60 minute game. I despise Bama, but have to give credit where credit is due….Playing them will be a very tough challenge for anyone….but hopefully we will get the chance….seeing that Saban guy with another National Championship will be sickening….go dawgs

Pj and Ron: No hate for you from me. However, there is no way, no how this group beats bammers. They are a pretty good team. They are not great. This is not like the 2007 team that was hot AND had the goods.

Everyone should enjoy this team for what it is, good but not elite.

Bama just proved they are not Superman. They can be beat. UGA has the ability if our “D” plays like they did agents FL and if Murry does not throw 3 INT’s in the first half. We will need everyone to play there best if its going to happen. Let’s first remind Auburn how hard we hit and how bad they are this year with a huge win!

We have got to figure how to get going in the early part of the game. Against a team like Alabama, you can’t afford to start slow and get buried early. Our OL is still a work in progress, so we have to get off of plays quicker and not put so much pressure on them to hold blocks all day long.
I don’t think there is a lot of doubt about who UGA’s number one RB is. Gurly is slowly turning into a beast. He is capable of running on anybody and lays a lick on the tackler in most cases.
The defense started slow but there is also very little doubt about the talent level of this team. UGA is going to have a tall order to fill, replacing a lot of these kids next year. They have recruited well, and a few of the returning players are seeing action so hopefully, the transition will not be too great.
Now it is on to Auburn and we should be able to handle their anemic offense and score against their defense as well.

Each week I see a different team playing. I’m not talking about the other teams, I’m talking about us. Why are we so spotty in places that we should be getting better? How can we let mediocre teams penetrate our offensive line to beat up on Murray but step up when we played Florida. Our defense has been up and down all season. Who will we see play next week against Auburn (who by the way took LSU all the way to the 4th quarter)?

If the Dawgs take care of business next week, at Auburn. They have a shot at beating BAMA. The TEAM must play to win/not to lose, like LSU did late, in the 4th quarter, have the game plan designed to make their QB beat you, play smart, and most importantly win the turnover margin.
The Bulldogs can win, that game!

Yes, good win, not a great one. Sloppy game management. Ole Miss, /southern miss, not a lot of difference. Play a first half like that say against a good team like say….Bama, there won’t be much of a second half. The time clock management by Bobo/Richt the last 3 minutes of the first half was maybe the worst i’ve seen in the Richt era. Go ahead and hate, but this team wins with athletes, not coaching.

You dog fans beat anything I’ve ever seen. Two weeks ago every single one of you were screaming for your coaching staff to be fired. Then you win against a Florida team who had a quarterback that started all of 7 games, a first year offensive coordinator and as a whole were picked to fall to third place in the division. Yet you barely won that game, then here comes perennial Ole Sis and you beat them and now your coaching staff and team are world beaters? Hello ? You got your rear ends handed to you by SC, you almost lost to Florida and Kentucky other than that just who exactly have you beat? List them for us please but when you list them make them relevant. In other words dawgs fans name a team That has a winning record. So here you are complaining that ESPN and the nation doesn’t like or respect you………..ha ha ha ha get it? You really are a joke. But your so busy licking yourselves between the legs and licking each others butts as all dogs do that you don’t get it. Keep drinking that kool aid kiddos while the rest of us sit back and laugh at you and your team. Oh and do us all a favor, when Bama wipes the field with your ragged team don’t come here screaming for your coach to be fired.
Always remember dawgs……..when you see us laughing…….you are the joke.

@ 9:23………..Not true. I’m hard on Richt, but this team could beat 110 of 120 D1 teams with ease. I’m aggravated because we could be so much more. Dawgs will end up 11-1 and get one more chance to show their worth against Bama, who don’t look unbeatable

Unlike you, who just can’t find anything positive to do with your time on a Sunday morning except go rant on another teams blog site. Assuming we win at Auburn. People tell me that there apparently is some sort of contractual obligation that mandates that the Football team of the University of Georgia must appear in the Georgia Dome at a predetermined time to play the Football team of the University of Alabama.
Otherwise, I’m not sure why we need to waste the time of everyone? Why even play the game?
But – assuming we win – I suppose Alabama needs someone to show up and in fact play the game. We apparently are a classy football team and we allegedly will take the predetermined butt whipping with dignity and class. At least this is what we will hear endlessly, on and on and on and on…
So, lets just play it out shall and we see what happens…that would be a good thing to do…

Gurley had some nice lanes to run in yesterday. After the Oline settled down, they protected Murray and Murray was able to step-up in the pocket and make plays…
These refs threw a lot less flags compared to the Fla. game…

O-line cannot start a game like that rest of year. Manhandled by one the smaller D-lines in SEC. Auburn will bring the house.

Let’s not talk bout Bama yet. Gotta get there first.

Earlier post – LSU was not better team cause McCarron had a flawless last possession and Mettenberger is dumb as a bag of hammers.

Tech fans – go post on that board called “Georgia Tech. Nobody reads it but that’s your problem.

Heard Michael Vick was being hired as Tech’s head coach. They figure it gives Tech only chance to beat some dawgs.
