About Mississippi

Record: 5-3, 2-2 SEC

Last time played: Georgia defeated Ole Miss 27-13 in Oxford last season.

Offense: Ole Miss has a balanced, up-tempo offense that ranks fifth in the SEC in passing, sixth in rushing and sixth in scoring. Sophomore quarterback Bo Wallace completed 29 of 37 passes for 278 yards and ran for 38 yards in last week’s 30-27 win over Arkansas. Running back Jeff Scott, a 5-foot-7, 170-pound junior, ranks fifth in the SEC with 87.4 rushing yards per game. Wide receiver Donte Moncrief is sixth in the SEC in receiving yards (67.5 per game). Randall Mackey, who moved from quarterback to wide receiver in the spring and added running back to his portfolio this fall, made his first start at receiver last week and caught seven passes for 99 yards.

Defense: Ole Miss ranks ninth in the SEC in total defense, rushing defense and passing defense. Redshirt freshman linebacker Denzel Nkemdiche, from Grayson, leads the team in tackles, tackles for loss, forced fumbles and interceptions. The Rebels rank third in the SEC with 7.5 tackles for loss per game.

Special teams: Kicker Bryson Rose was named the SEC special-teams player of the week for his performance against Arkansas (3-for-3 on field goals, including a 31-yard game-winner and a 53-yarder). Punter Jim Broadway’s father punted for UGA.

What you should know: Ole Miss has won back-to-back SEC games for the first time since 2009, beating Auburn and Arkansas the past two weeks. The win over Auburn snapped a 16-game conference losing streak by the Rebels, who now are within one victory of becoming bowl-eligible for the first time since 2009.

Coach: Hugh Freeze is in his first season at Ole Miss. He was 30-7 in college head-coaching jobs at Lambuth and Arkansas State.

This one could be scary at first, but after half time Georgia should pull away.

Where is the comparison and contrast between the two teams? Also who is Murray’s back-up and when will we get a look at them?

OLE MRS. is not very good. Very undersized on the DLINE and they have linebackers that are small. This should be a 35-21 win for UGA.

Yeah we should win this game comfortably if our offense executes I hope our defense can have another game like this one….but it will be hard to match the intensity of

What ever happened to Hutson Mason????? I always see him suited up, but not on the depth chart… someone tell me what’s up with that?

#6 is #1 D.A. Could he possibly be dumber than Bill King or Jeff Schultz? Not really. . .

Mason is red shirting, but also is first up if Murray goes out for any length of time.

I have about an hour commute every morning and flip between Mike and Mike and Bill King on XM..when M&M go to basketball or a commercial ( for 3 minutes) or they keep on and on with ESPN’s continued obsession with everything NE, I switch to college football. But, Lord help me, .Bill King’s voice drives me to change the channel after about 5 minutes…

But. I will say that I feel this will be an excellent game or the dawgs…I’m hoping they grew up finally and begin to peak at the right time…

@#6 I am not absolutely positive on this but I believe they are trying not to play him so that he can have another year of eligibility. I think they like him…more than Lemay, and would like to save him for the time when Murray is gone.

I think Ga will certainly move the ball but so can Ole Miss (maybe a better offense than Fla). The D will need to be intense so we don’t have another Tennessee-like game….I don’t like this game at all…..a possible trap…

what i want to see from our dawgs the rest of the year.
1. murray cutting down on mental mistakes
2. defense remaining dominant
3.marlon brown stepping up his game…geez use your size and speed man
4. T.king no more drops in big games
5.keith marshall getting back on track
6. no more missed extra ponts and should make fg’s
7. gurley and jorden jenkins to remain hungry
8. CMR to keep showing a little emotion….but doesnt have to be like that nut will mustard
9. collin barber to continue where he left off on sat
10. the o-line to remain pissed off

We’ve got to be LOUD Saturday. If you go to the game BE LOUD especially when Mississippi has got the ball. You couldn’t even hear yourself think at the SC game this year when Georgia had the ball. GO UGA !

CMR stated in the press conference Murray is his boy. He can throw 5 INT versus OM and he will not be taken out of the game. CMR will win or lose with him.

UGA better be ready this weekend because this is our last test before we meet a real team in the SEC Championship. Just hold on for one more week. Ole Miss is for real, I don’t think we can play this one like we did against tennesse.

October 31st, 2012
9:51 am

1) Mason is redshirting, hence not on the depth chart.

2) Bitter QB: I hope you have some sort of traumatic brain injury, because there is no other excuse for your posts.

3) All of this fear of Ole Miss is ridiculous to me. Of course UGA needs to avoid overlooking them or having a let-down game, and obviously they are much improved under Freeze, but come on. Unless the defense immediately reverts to the UK game form, we should walk over Ole Miss. It is a home game against a much less talented team and the D and OL both seem to have turned a corner.

the last time Ole Miss beat UGA in Athens- guess who the QB was, mike bobo.

October 31st, 2012
10:25 am

I want to be wrong about this, but we look totally primed to be upset this weekend. LawDawg we could easily revert to the UK lever of play. Yes we should walk over Ole Miss, but I have a really bad feeling about this game. Look for Ole Miss to hang around and then rip our hearts out late in the 4th quarter.

If the Dawgs play to their potential, they will run the table. If they don’t, I think the coaching staff should shoulder the blame. Good coaches get their players emotionally ready, especially with all that UGA has at stake. I look for the Dawgs to roll, one game at a time. Dawgs – 35 , Ole’ Miss – 10

October 31st, 2012

Hey uh oh, In the 90’s against the Florida Gators, I believe they won for the whole decade, there was one bright spot whereby we won during that time ,I believe it was 1997, and guess who the Qb was? It was Mike Bobo! So you’re point is moot!

October 31st, 2012
10:44 am

#6 the staff made the decision to do everything the could to redshirt Mason this year. He would only play if Murray goes down with an injury.

October 31st, 2012
10:50 am

On any given Saturday there is a potential for an upset… that’s why we play the games. The Dawgs just need to focus and play hard. Sure it’s hard to get up for a game 2 weeks in a row but if we just play with focus and look like we want to be on the field, it should be a great day to be a Bulldawg. No predictions… but there is a potential to score a bunch of points.

Depends on which defense shows up. If it’s the one against Florida we should cruise. If it’s the Kentucky defense, another nail biter is in store. Offense should be able to run the ball and open up the passing game.

Run the sweep around the corner and quit trying to bang between the guards. Throw more screens and to the TE’s then go deep.

Please don’t have the post big win meltdown. I know you’re feeling good about yourselves but losing the SEC East to a home loss to Ole Missy would make the good time go bye bye

October 31st, 2012
4:00 pm

Ga should walk all over ole miss? Bull crap ole miss isn’t a breeze win this year and Georgia isn’t that strong Alabama is the only team in the sec that can walk all over anyone.. The other 13 can get beat any saturday this year that’s already been proven so if you wanna say ole miss is a easy win go ahead but that up tempo offense is great.. And give freeze a couple of years to get some recruits that he wants and can run his offense effencient it will be an oregon like offense in the sec and theyll be consistently ranked every year… go to he Georgia ask South Car if your “unbeatable”.

October 31st, 2012
4:16 pm

It is a true “trap” game. However, Ole Miss is probably not as deep as UGA. The key is intensity on defense.

October 31st, 2012
6:38 pm

I’m pretty sure that these guys are amped up for Ole Miss!! The Rebels have lost 3 games, but they were to highly ranked teams, which makes this the best squad they’ve had in years! However, I do feel that this being a home game anf their lack of depth will give our dawgs a 13 point win. Go Dawgs!!

Auburn and Arkansas are both terrible and the dawgs should tear these clowns a new new one especially at home. Lets hope the dawgs show the same energy and crush these pretenders.
