CBS picks up Georgia-Ole Miss game; Dogs move up to 6th in coaches poll, 7th in AP

ATHENS — For a second straight week, Georgia will play in the 3:30 p.m. game on CBS.

The national television network exercised its six-day option on Sunday and picked up the Bulldogs’ game against Ole Miss this Saturday at Sanford Stadium. CBS carried this past Saturday’s game between Georgia and then-No. 2 Florida, which the Bulldogs won 17-9. The Rebels (5-3, 2-2 SEC) are coming off a 30-27 win over Arkansas in Little Rock.

It will mark Georgia’s third appearance on CBS this season. The network also carried Georgia ’s 51-44 win over Tennessee in Athens on Sept. 29. Overall, the Bulldogs have appeared on CBS 70 times and posted a record of 40-29-1.

In related news, the Bulldogs moved up to No. 7 in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll and to No. 6 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. Georgia, which was No. 10 this past week, should also moved up in the BCS rankings, which will be released tonight.

I’m a Georgia Southern/Georgia Tech fan but I have to say congratulations to your team. The Bulldogs’ defense played a hell of a game yesterday. I don’t think anyone’s going to touch Alabama this year but good luck in the SEC Championship game after you whip Ole Miss and Auburn.

It’s great to be a Georgia Bulldog, I said it’s great to be a Georgia Bulldog! CMR will remain after that win. probably Bobo too although I’m not as fond of the later. With that said, I support whoever CMR wants in that position. Go Dawgs! Sic ‘em!

The CBS announcers are my FAVORITE announcers in college football. Lundequist is a great play by play man. He’s no football expert, but that’s not his job. Danielson is the best analyst/color guy in the business. He is the only one that actually points out stuff I didn’t see. Unlike the majority of “expert” blowhards that never shut up and tell you the obvious.

BTW Just wanted to reiterate how impressed I was with the Dawgs D yesterday. Damn good win and about time. Yesterday showed the talent in the program. Its a damn shame they haven’t been playing that way for the past two years.

Murray threw for over 400 yards against Kentucky without Bennett. I like Bennett, but his absence is not the problem for Murray. His lack of confidence in big games is the problem. Give Bobo credit for getting Murray some easier throws on that 4th quarter drive…and give Murray credit for making them. He had one good drive in the game and it was enough.

If you are not in the loop, then you do no know what you are talking about. GO DAWGS. To the players, go to class, enjoy being students and then football players. Enjoy the time wth your classmates. Thank you to the coaching staff for ignoring the minority.

As a UGA graduate and fan of 46 years, I’d like to express my deepest expression of sadness for Marcus Lattimore and I pray that he will make a recovery from this horrific injury. I watched the play unfold and was shocked when I saw the injury to him. Words can not justify the feelings that came over me.

He is as fine a young man as he is a football player. He’s a credit to the game of college football in so many ways. He’s love his players, team, institution, and fans. Of course, Marcus worked so hard to come back for this year’s campaign and was hitting full-stride in his recovery.

Moving forward, I’ll keep Marcus in my prayers and know that he’ll be strong in his faith. Godspeed USCe and Marcus Lattimore!!!

Yep, the announcers were making excuses and apologizing for Fla the entire game. Well, ya think maybe the fellows in Red had a little bit to do with them NOT SCORING A TOUCHDOWN !!!!!! In defense of some of the Florida regulars on here, some were worried about this game. Georgia Over due. Florida emotionally drained and a pi$$ poor offense

Great win for the UGA program…I think this jumpstarts us all the way to ATL. Anything can happen in the Dome against Bama/LSU. It’s about time we saw what the defense can really do when focused. @Lakedawg – I couldn’t agree more – Vern and Gary are the best announcers around! Gary isn’t the typical color guy who constantly second guesses the coaches, instead he gives real insight into what the coaches are thinking and analyzes the trends in the game. I like them a lot more than the ESPN crew. They also get props for dancing during the blackout game in ‘07.

I feel the need to restate what’s been said already, and that is that we are in for a huge letdown if we look past Ole Miss and even Auburn. If you doubt me, just see the Kentucky game week before last. We should have pounded them into oblivion and put up 70 points playing backups, but as Shawn Williams so eloquently put it, we played ’soft’.

Coach Richt, I saw your comment about the defense definitely not playing soft this week. I’m still p-o’d that you’d even have to make that comment. Our defense should NEVER play soft, and I, and many others, think that you’re not getting our guys ready for Saturdays. It took a player to do what you should be doing!!! Consider us also lucky that UF turned the ball over 6 times, because Murray had a pitiful showing under the pressure (and I don’t mean their D-line either).

I suggest that when you address the team this week, you stop stroking them and praising them for this week’s win. THE FLORIDA GAME IS NOW HISTORY!!! If we lose to Ole Miss, you might be also.

RoDog,

“the dogs will roll over ole miss – no worries”. I just bet you said that about Boise State, Colorado and OK State. Remember how those played out?

If our team has your attitude, we are screwed.

We better bring humility, respect, grit and determination to the party this week. And that has to start with the Head Coach.

I’m sick and tired of people jumping on malcom mitchell for trash talking…in the history of all football their has been trash talking…..he is not classless for talking trash…yes he needs to calm down some and not pentalize the team…but sometimes emotion of the game can take over a person…he is our best WR on our team….I still think richt should utlize murray’s strenths more and thats taking that ball and running with it….plus t.king had some big drops and so did lynch….our skill guys have to hang on too the ball…..but all is forgiven when you beat the lizards…goooooooooooo Dawgs

To all you Richt Kool-Aid drinkers, this win was because S. Williams got the defense fired up and motivated, something that Richt and the coaches couldn’t do. If Richt and company would have had the team half way motivated and prepared for South Carolina, we would have won that game and we would be in the National Championship hunt.

Your first win against a top 5 team in 6 years. You celebrated like it. Given the lackluster performance of your offense, the enormous number of penalties, and the necessary gifts from the Florida QB to win by one score.

I have to say there is no way you don’t have a let down game against Ole Miss. Georgia has the mouth of a champion but not the skills or whats required between the ears.

Ole Miss 30, UGA 21.

And I doubt you’ll even care. You beat Florida for only the 5th time in 23 years. Richt will be talking about that for decade as a reason you’re relevant.

Sorry to be so blunt, but you guys need it.

Alabama @ LSU is at 8pm.

It won’t be the same as last year, think more like the BCS national championship game where LSU couldn’t find the 50 yard line.

Which btw, was our second BCS championship in three years in the midst of a 56-6 run since 2008. Just thought I’d point that out.

Congrats to the Dogs! Tremendous win! Don’t sleep on Ole Miss – a very solid team that CAN beat UGA. I support the dogs, but I no longer support Coach Richt. The reasons are obvious. I have read all of these posts and I see that most UGA fans don’t keep up with Alabama. Believe me when I say that no team in the SEC can challenge Alabama, and it’s because of coaching. Coach Saban gets the players he wants from whatever state and coaches them up towork harder and be better than any team they face. It’s time for change in Athens. Coach Richt is a fine man and runs the program the way he should, but he will not win a national title at UGA – ever! And that is not acceptable given the talent he has available.

Reviewed the game tape and AM did have a bad day, mixed in w/a few dropped passes. His early piks he threw into midfield when he had receivers open in the flat, uncovered. He did throw the biggest strike to MM who made up for his dumb flag w/a great open field run for the TD. JJ is the best LB in the nation when he’s healthy. No other LB does more for a team then he does from int’s to sacks, tackling, and fumble recovery. Could not have beaten FL w/o his game changing plays. Rest of D played their best game to date. They need to bring it to beat MS and/or AU. Easy to have a let down after an upset win in JAX. GO DAWGS.

It’s a lot easier to move backward in the polls instead of forward. Unless you’re Ohio State. They barely beat an unranked Indiana by a couple of points and jumped up 3-4 spots. We can’t complain. If we win our next 4, we should be in good shape when we get( if we get) to the SEC-CG. UGA is doing just fine and we need to take it one game at a time. Win-out, and good things are possible…
