ATHENS – Georgia’s Aaron Murray got a nice little pat on the back heading into the Bulldogs’ biggest game of the year.
The junior quarterback from Tampa was named the Southeastern Conference offensive player of the week by the league office on Monday. The honor comes on the heels of Murray’s record-setting performance in Georgia’s 29-24 win over Kentucky Saturday night in Lexington. Against the Wildcats, Murray completed 30 passes on 38 attempts, which set a school record for completion percentage (78.95). Murray also recorded a career-high with 427 yards passing yards, which was is fourth-best in school history, and threw for four touchdowns.
Murray’s scoring tosses made him Georgia’s all-time leader in touchdown passes with 75. David Greene had 72 from 2001-04. The 75 TD passes is ninth most in SEC history.
Murray had a pair of 100-yard receivers as senior Tavarres King (188 yards) and sophomore Malcolm Mitchell (103 yards) each had nine catches. Murray is the SEC active leader in five different categories and is third in the NCAA FBS in career pass efficiency rating for active players with a 154.02 clip.
This marks Murray’s first player of the week selection. He was named the SEC Freshman Player of the Week twice in 2010 after his performances versus Tennessee and Vanderbilt.
Of course, all eyes will be on Murray this Saturday and he tries to secure the elusive “signature victory” many believe has eluded him against the No. 2-ranked Florida Gators in Jacksonville. Murray had a good game against the Gators in last year, throwing for 169 two touchdowns in Georgia’s 24-20 win. The No. 10-ranked Bulldogs play Florida Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in a game that will be nationally televised on CBS.

Matt Barkely went 10 for 20 against Washington, imagine.
South Carolina has a top 5 defense.
I don’t think many would consider Matt Barkley the best QB in the country either. That’s not a very good example. Also, Florida has a top 5 defense as well, do you expect similar numbers for Murray against them?

Now with a second chance, lets see if we learned a damn thing. Another BIG GAME vs another BIG RIVAL. History aint on our side. Dont want to hear any excuses…dont want to hear how we were’nt focussed…DO want to hear how we worked our butts off to erase our lapse 2 weeks ago. Want a win overa RANKED, TOP 5 team!!!!! Yay Murray pads his stats against a team that he should dominate. He do that against SC? Will he do it against the Gators? No, but the rest of the year he’ll be dominate against the weaker team. Overrated Murray is not Elite and can’t be a good team.

Certainly you can ALWAYS have your opinion but it is becoming quite evident that you don’t understand the game of football. Winning is great but football is much more than that and if you aren’t aware of the intangibles surrounding ORGANIZED football you really can’t comment objectably on the subject.
Other than knowing what you and your ilk are saying/doing is actually hurting EVERYTHING Dawg Nation I wouldn’t give a FAT RODENT’S REAREND what y’all post on here and in spite of all that I love your uneducated a$$ anyway as does God and CMR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UGA has a chance to beat 3 top 2 ranked teams in 2012:
beat the #2 ranked team, Florida
then the #1 ranked team Bama in SEC Champ
then another #2 ranked team like Oregon in the Natl Champshp.
Could go down as one of the greatest UGA teams ever.

Yes, Sammy, Murray will definitely do those 7 things…
Then he’ll hear the whistle, wake up, see that he just got knocked on his ass, realize that it’s fourth and long again, wander over to the bench with that same dumbfounded look he had during the Carolina game, look up at the lopsided score, and wonder how in the hell he ever won the starting position at Georgia. But hey, he’s the SEC Offensive player of the week all week long… so enjoy it.
The eggs are coming this weekend, Murray. How do you want ‘em? Poached or fried?

The NFL
or winning the BCS
this game gets him halfway to all three.
Murray will be ready to play.
I don’t expect UF to stop UGA’s offense, they couldn’t in 2011, the players are the same on defense.

by how guys respond to adversity.
If you look at the way Murray responded to his dad’s cancer
by having a career day against a Kentucky team, loaded with 23 players from Georgia who always plays UGA tough
it says a lot about the kid’s character.

He almost singlehandedly carried UGA to a win Saturday looking much better than did USCe QB versus Kentucky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He is setting UGA, SEC and national records most every game in spite of the fact that UGAs No. 1 WR is out for the year
He was named SEC Offensive player of the Week
He passed for over 400 yds.and 4 tds and 2 sure tds were dropped
He has already earned his degree at UGA
He has another year of eligibility
He will play on Sundays

Just because some of the fans are asking hard questions doesn’t mean they are not as good of a Georgia fan as those who want to completely ignore that a defense who was ranked 5TH last year and who returned nearly all of last years starters, are giving up 24 points a game. We know we have the personnel so it must be the schemes. Grantham needs to make some radical changes to stop our opponents running all over us. We know right now that Driskel is going to run the ball 20 times. The complaint is Grantham is not making any changes and the other teams are looking at what worked against Georgia earlier in the season and are taking the attitude why change anything until Georgia proves they can stop the run.
Huh?

Yeah 6-1 isn’t bad….until you dig a little deeper. UGA has racked up wins (and sometimes ugly ones) against bad teams. The only ranked team that they played, they lost. It’s just like last year, when UGA won 10 games against lousy teams, but lost the 4 they played against good teams.
Relying on others to lose is not what a championship team is made of. How about winning instead of having to back in to the SEC CG? And as far as Murray goes, I agree with Over Rated…he plays well against bad teams, but disappears against good ones.

To all the fans who want to call out other fans for being CONCERNED about the state of the program:
You all are the ones that need to get a life. Granted we do control our own destiny and are sitting at 6-1, you get no arguement there, but if you can HONESTLY sit back and feel good going into the game this week then you are DROWNING in the Kool-Aid. I’m a life long fan, born and raised in Athens, attended Cedar Shoals High, and have lived in Jacksonville for the past 16 years. And let me tell you I AM CONCERNED about the state of this program.
When you take a look at our schedule, CMR and company had to get the Dawgs preprared for TWO FREAKIN GAMES!! SC and UF. Period. As evidenced on Sat, every other opponent on the schedule, we should be able to “out athlete”. The manner in which the Dawgs came out against SC was horrible!!! They had a defeated disposition before stepping on the field, and got hit square in the mouth and had little fight. Same thing happened to SC on Sat. Say what you want about Muschamp and all his angry theatrics, but he has those boys playing so far above their heads it’s ridiculous. When you honsestly take a look at the talent level (gator fans back me up on this), there is no reason other than coaching for UF to be undefeated. U. Meyer left the cupboard bare, and CWM had to dismiss a couple of very good players because they weren’t buying in. Talent wise top to bottom in the SEC, UF is probabaly 5th behind, Bama, LSU, SC and UGA, but look at how their team FOUGHT in the LSU and SC games. They KNEW they had to have turnovers. They were hitting hard, striping the ball, and literally trying to break SC’s will to fight, and were successful. If the Dawgs do not come into that game prepared to leave EVERYTHING on the field and for 4 qtrs not worry about saving themselves and playing not to get hurt for the draft ( yeah I said it, more on that in a moment) then we are going to get our arses handed to us. Look my 10 year old son was watching the game with me, and I always try to stay positive when watching with my sons, because I don’t want them to pick up bad habits and at that age I think there is a certain amount of blind loyalty they should have to develop love of their team, but he even cited after watching the SC/FL game earlier, “Dad if we play like this against FL this week, we’re gonna get EMBARRASSED!” I asked him what did he think the problem was, he replied, “Well the offense is doing their part, but it looks like the defense players are playing like they are scared to get hurt. They don’t hit anybody. It’s like they just try to trip them as they run by or tackle at the ankles.” This is the observation of a TEN YEAR OLD folks.
I love the Dawgs and living in Jax, FL trust me no one on this site wants a win worse than me, but I’m not going to go around and thump my chest, because we simply don’t pass the eye test.
Here’s the record of our opponents to date read it and still tell me I’m crazy for being concerned about the state of our program. I’m sorrywe’ve built a resume the past two years on fool’s gold wins take a look:
Result – team – (their record)
W – Buffalo (1-6)
W-Missouri (3-4)
W- Florida Atl (1-6)
W- Vandy (3-4)
W- Tenn (3-4)
L- SC (6-2)
W – Kentucky (1-7)
? – Florida (7-0)
?- Ole Miss (4-3)
?- Auburn (1-6)
? Ga So (6-1) * Subdivision
? Ga Tech (3-4)
So take out UF and SC – two toughest games on the schedule, and Ga So – subdivision team, the combines record to date of the rest of the FOOL’S GOLD SCHEDULE IS: 20-44!!!
Again TWO FREAKING GAMES TO PREPARE FOR and we come out flat in the first, and NOW you have to question how good was SC really.
They blew us out, and got beat by LSU in a strong contest, and blown out by UF.
Here’s the rest of their schedule – Vandy, East Carolina, UAB, Missouri and Kentucky.
It’s NOT about bashing the team, folks this is REALITY. Come on down to Jax and cheer the Dawgs on just as I will, but seriously, if CMR and Co., come down here and lay another egg like SC then there HAS TO BE A CHANGE.
If you gave ANY major D-1 coach a 3yr starter at QB, all of your skill position players on both sides of the ball minus 1 (B.Boykin), 20 of 22 on your 2 deep defensive chart, AND the schedule we have they would be singing all the way to the SEC Championship game and probably on to the national championship.
Look at how Bama and Oregon dispatch opponents with a similar schedule to us. To come out FLAT in one of TWO games you had to have and not even be competitive all falls on coaching. Injuries and suspensions are part of the game, but the good teams load the next guy up and don’t miss a beat.
If you feel pointing out FACTS about the state of the program and this season makes me not a true fan then I don’t know what else to tell you, but when you love something and you’re seeing it die a slow painful death, pretending it ain’t happening is the answer either.
Now if Richt pulls off the upset, I’ll be the first one on here congratualting him, admitting I WAS WRONG and APOLOGIZING. Not holding my breath I’ll have to do either.

I remember 1985 when we went into Jax with no hope, with a team that had at least two losses already. Florida was ranked #1 and on a roll. Freshman running backs Tim Worley and Keith Henderson dominated the game in a 24-3 upset victory and RUINED Florida’s season. Our chances were slim that day, much more dire than they will be this Saturday.
