The Gamecocks will lose at Florida, and at home to Arkansas and Tennessee. Hogs have had South Carolina’s number most years, and coming to Columbia and beating a top 10 team will be their bowl game. Tennessee’s getting better every week. We’ll be 9 weeks into the season before Cocks have to deal with a QB who can throw since UGA decided to choke in Columbia. Hogs and Vols won’t “choke” because they’ve got nothing to lose. October/November it’ll be the “Carolina Collapse.” So once again, the Dawgs can be the SEC East’s sacrificial lamb in Atlanta!

It’s pretty sad that the best Georgia can do is to hope and pray better teams lose so that they can win another empty crown of East division champions. Even if somehow they find their way to Atlanta, they will get beat down by Bama or LSU. And then Coach MediocRe can preach to his chorus about a 50 point loss is the same as a 1 point loss.

I suppose this is good news but I’m frustrated with the overall direction of the UGA football program. The results against ranked teams, the lack of emotion from the coaching staff, the talent we bring in yet somehow seem to falter in the end…..Somehow I think that considering the talent base we have and the resources we should be in the title mix every year instead of just talking about how good we think we’ll be this year!. Tired of being the 32 yr old sleeping giant!. Also tired of backing into the being called the SEC east champions…..For once I’d like to see my team earn it on the field!

We are going to go to Columbia and beat South Carolina then all we have to do is beat Florida and we are on the way to beat Bama and win the BCS.

I’m so tired of the “you have to depend on others” comments. That’s why we play the games! If the Dawgs win out they will deserve to go to the SECCG. If not they wont. simple as that. If they can win in Jax then the monkey will be of the snide there (that will be two in a row for us) and we will have beaten a ranked team so off the snide there as well. Spurrier blamed Georgia’s Georgia’s schedule for SC not making it to Atlanta last year but I remember them losing to Auburn at home which kept them out of the game.They will lose another game.

I can’t believe CMR is encouraged and says they have a lot to play for. He should be outraged at his coaching – to include both coordinators and especially himself for letting his team get embarrassed by SC on a national stage.

But this should not surprise us – just last year UGA played poorly against Boise State and SC and backed into the SEC East title. You hear CMR saying the same thing as last year and talks about how UGA can still win a SEC East title by waiting on SC to lose another SEC game.

As much as I want my Dawgs to win the SEC East, I am a realist. I have lost confident that CMR will beat FL and win all of the other SEC games. Maybe that’s a good thing – because I don’t want to see the Dawgs get dominated by Alabama on national TV.

Listen my fellow Dawg fans, and mark my words, CMR is a nice man and a nice Football coach, but he has peeked. He is doing the best he can, but as you see his best can’t get UGA in the National Championship picture.

At the end of the year, CMR should be thanked and honored for doing a nice job and allowed to retire – and his coordinators should be sent on. Then UGA should work hard to hire Chris Petersen, Boise State; Chip Kelly, Oregon; Gary Patterson, TCU; or give a good coordinator a chance like Kirby Smart, Alabama.

Richt will always win 9-10 games, but doesn’t have a disciplined team or creative offensive game plan to win it all. If this is what UGA wants, then they should stick with him. Otherwise, we should look hard for the next Spurrier or Saban.

South Carolina got a taste of their own medicine. Playing at night in the real “Death Valley” at night mind you. That setting is worth at least 10 Pts in LSU’s favor. However, I will give South Carolina’s stadium more credit and they were much more of a factor in the game against UGA. It will be a tight game in Gainsville and I am thinking USCe wiil bounce back somehow and pulls it out. I hope not but I just don’t think Florida is that good. Unfortunately for South Carolina they went from playing the best game of their programs history to playing in the toughest environment in college football . With tha being said, if Florida beats the cocks and UGA has a chance to redeem themselves in a big way I think it would be worth the lost to USCe. Richt has to win out to be UGA’s coach next year and I hope he knows it just like the fans do.

Richt is a good coach, not an elite coach. He is in the same category as Stoops, Beamer, M Brown. All the above can drop big games when they can least afford. Enjoy this ride. It is the best we have ever had and it could be much worse. 112 wins in 11 1/2 years. Most schools would die for it. There are only 4 elite coaches in college football and they are not coming to Athens: Saban, Spurrier, Bobby Petrino and Meyer.

When and not until the big money from wealthy alumni stops coming in, tv revenue drops considerably, and season tickets sales fall significantly will any coaching changes happen at UGA. As long as the money keeps coming in from these sources [and I believe it is only about the money], cmr and company are here until they have long gray beards. Money talks and BS walks even at UGA. Time will tell if this tried and true motto prevails. Just watch the money folks, the diminished flow of the mighty green back is the one stat cmr can’t dodge or explain away with some over used cliche.

I like Coach Richt’s plan moving forward:
1- We’ve been giving up too many big plays.
2 safeties deep fixes that.
2- We’ve got to make sure we get back to running the ball like we (were) early in the year
2 tight end set fix that.
3- We need to get more turnovers.
new defensive ends getting more pressure forces more bad throws and int’s, guys like Stripling, Drew, Smith need a chance as does doing more blindside blitzes.
4- We need to protect the ball a little better.
Murray needs to stop throwing the ball over the middle in traffic
5- We’ve still got things to clean up in some of our special-teams areas.

UGA has had more top 10 classes since 2000 than any other SEC school

Richt cant even beat top 10 team

Richt has a 500 record against the top 25
and a less than 300 avg against the top 10

Cant beat FL two years in a row and has now lost 3 games in a row to SC not even Ray Golf can claim that joke stat

Yea truly a Vandy calibur coach when you have that much talent and cant do anything with it but have more embarrassing blowout losses than any UGA coach in a 10 year span

Anybody else notice that when the suspended regulars came back our performance suffered, granted against UT and USCe, but it suffered. Gene in the cell next to Sammy (that was funny Flat), Mark Richt made a laughingstock out of our fanbase, not the idiots who egged Murray’s house. This is a fact, however, our athletic department cannot come out and say it when it appears we did not recruit someone who signed with an Alabama or an LSU from Georgia. good night…..

This may surprise you Gene, you are right! Richt has the highest winning percentage of any UGA coach in history, the highest of any active SEC coach. I gave you your due.

Now answer my questions, how has Richt done over the last five years, what’s his winning percentage, especially against top 25 teams? What’s his record against SEC competition over that period? During those years how has our recruiting ranked? Who has put the most talent in the NFL? Next question, at what point do “YOU” start to question his ability to lead, develop the talent he has at his disposal? I will await your answers, statistics aren’t needed, just common sense.

@ The Factor, yes, every team in america plays their fair shair of creampuffs and generally win those games but it’s the big games that set’s the great teams appart from the pretenders who run up 10-2 records and lose all the big games. The talent level in todays world is much greater than the Dooley days and I believe he did a whole lot with what he had on the roster but I for one believe most any coach could win at UGA with our talent. Question is, are we just satisfied with a good winning percentage or do we aspire for greater heights. I’ll take the latter of the two

UGA, if we play heads up ball,can handle Florida. We need to dispatch Kentucky by early 3rd qtr with a 37-10 score and seat the first team and let the others play. I fear that UGA will be so asleep at the switch, that KY will, like UT, become aroused, as Dooley use to say. We need to destroy them by the half, with lightening bolts and The Frosh backs.

I told everyone that Visor Boy’s SCar is the choking chickens.  And then they did just that in Baton Rogue.  Now we need to take care of business against Judas Muschump and Dawgs is back on destiny to Dome and more.  No way do chickens not lay another egg to put Dawgs in first.

And the other good news is Dooley Boy and Cheese Dip getting close to a firing.  That will allow Dawgs to increase control of recruiting with TN Orange Pumkins and AwfulBurn continually rebuilding with sorry coaching.  We just got to fix problems of Adams and pointy heads.  Then frreed up recruits from Pumkins and War Tigers will be capable of signing with Dawgs without pointy head restrictions like Adams causes.

Overall good weekend for Dawgs as we idle and get healed while the others stunk up and self destruction.

@Jefferson, there are many alums who are concerned about his last 5 years against the Top 20. You are not alone. But making a coaching change is a huge deal. Can you imagine what the likes of ESPN would say if Richt goes 11-2 and UGA fired it’s coach? We would be the lauhging stock of the nation. HS coaches would tell kids to be careful. What coach, except for someone pretty foolish, would want to come to Georgia? You think they would be lining up? Think again. We all get frustrated because the last 6 NC’s came from the SEC and we don’t have one . I get it. It takes a little luck, too. LSU had 2 conference loses with one of theirs and we were probably better than them in 2007. We are like the rest of the nation. We want another title at UGA too, but be careful of tearing down the program. And be careful, the next coach will have a lot to live up to.

I guarantee you that before the SC game, 99% of you were saying were destined for greatness and sky’s the limit. So we went to SC and we lay an egg and everybody gives up on our team?? Go rout for another team cause I can’t stand you and other people when I go to the game and you go ballistic because Murray throws a pick or the other team gets a huge gain and all of a sudden, we suck. FAIR WEATHER FANS need to just shut up and go watch something else. Our boys don’t need or want your support if all you have is criticism. Realize that we’re still averaging over 40 points/game!! D needs some shoring up. We have two dynamic running backs and an O line young but learning on the fly. If we can put it all together, we’re a dangerous team and we can play with anyone.

Yep, I agree…we got blasted on every aspect of the game against SC and it was discouraging. I was just as upset as you. Football is about momentum…and we lost ours on the first pass when a sure pick went right through Rambo’s hands. There’s one. Then, a tipped ball for a pick. Two. Then, you get a punt return blown coverage. Three. All mistakes made by us. But at the end of the day, I still bleed Red and Black and we still got a lot of football to play. Rarely does a team go through the SEC unscathed EVER so it is just 1 loss. I don’t know about you but I’ll still be watching on Saturday when we play the Cats. I’m sure you will probably be watching too just to complain about the Dawgs every wrongdoing. I’m sure Alabama will make you happier since all yall wanna do is talk about how great they are…maybe you should change channels.

Anybody else notice how LSU had a fullback and 2 tight ends in the ball game ON EVERY PLAY against Carolina?

Just saying Georgia’s O-line would look a whole lot better if there were 7 up there blocking instead of 5. We have no shot against the Gators if we don’t use Lynch and Rome and Hall. We can run the football as good as anyone with the right formation and blocking scheme. But 5 blockers against a Top SEC front 7? Nope… Just sayin coach…. it’s not like we don’t have the players….

Play with any body? The only body we have play blew us up—40 + points a game turned in to 7 agaist the 3rd string. Running backs, less than 40 yards each agaist somebody-you can’t equate all the sucess against nobodies and then say you can play with ranked teams-just look at Richt’s record against ranked teams 0-10 against the last ten.

I wasn’t raised to be a quitter or a blind follower. I know UGA is a better team than they showed in Columbia. Many of the problems can be corrected, but I don’t have as much confidence in Richt to make “adjustments” during a game. The cocks knew our snap-count by watching Murray tap Andrews. That is correctable. Knowing a snap-count will make a Defensive line look even better than they are. Why didn’t Gates get more help? Can Grantham scheme to defend a “running” qb?
This team is better than that one loss, as bad as it was. To the ex-fans, I wish you well. Just move on and try not to embarrass your ex-team any farther. Look guys – I love my Dawgs – but – after watching LSU and SC play last week – well, we haven’t seen UGA play with that kind of testosterone this year……those two teams were going at it and it was mano a mano the whole game. That is the type of game WE should have had against SC – but we didn’t. I don’t see Florida being as good as SC. But, I do hope that SC beats them and is ranked high and mighty so that if we do win it will make us look all the better – but – the bottom line is – after watching Bama and LSU play this weekend it is OBVIOUS that those teams are built and play different than we do – they’re just bigger, stronger, meaner and more aggresive. In some ways it would be better to lose a tough game to Florida, win the rest and then go to a nice bowl and win because if we get to the SEC CG we’re going to get our ass kicked on national TV again – hate to sound that way but every week I see Bama play and the differences in them and us is OBVIOUS. On any given Saturday anything can happen as we saw this past weekend with Ok – Texas and West Virginia, but…..just sayin…..I keep reading all of the excuses as to why our D is not playing well – sorry, I just don’t buy it. If TG was any kind of a coach he would mold his defense to what he has and it is obvious our D is too complicated for our players – they are always confused and out of position – if CTG can’t mold his defense so that his players can actually make it work, he’s not much of a coach. In the big games – D wins. if our D is on vacation, we have no chance in the big games. Hope my Dawgs get it figured out but if the past is any indication ~ well, we cfan always hope.

let us all remember—-UGA could have gotten Shaw but they took Murray—-a non running QB–who has yet to beat a really good team. Which means–he is really better suited for a smaller conference. The judgement at UGA has gotten so bad—-they are still running the same offense they were 10 years ago—–why do we have players from Florida?? ——WE need a coach from Georgia and we need to let all players from Georgia that they are first on our list. SC played one of their best games in school history against UGa. When they played away from home they sucked against a battered (missing 7-8 starters) LSU team. LSU was missing 60% of their OL including their All American. At best, LSU was a mediocre team Saturday night and SC was horrible….nothing like they were against UGa. LSU almost doub

I don’t expect the Dawgs to beat Florida. I have to say that I have been very impressed with Driskell, the gators QB. This guy has improved incredibly over the past couple of games and that has allowed their offense to open up. Florida’s defense is almost as good as SC’s and look what they did against us. As much as I’d like to beat the gators I just don’t see it happening which means I have to drive around the next week with a stinking gator car flag on my SUV. (wife went to UF and it’s our own little bet)
I would be surprised if UF beat SC this Saturday. Of course what do i know, I thought SC was going to beat LSU by 10.

1. Richt has gotten his team to two top 3 finishes at UGA with two different staffs. Bear Bryant didn’t do that in Bryant’s 1st 11 seasons.
2. Grantham was directed by Richt to a) dominate in 2nd half 2) dominate in 4th quarter. He has done both, with 4 of his best players suspended, and few reps when they got back. The def is only giving up 8 pts in 2nd half epr game, and just 4.5 pts in the 4th quarter per game, yet some fans complain.
3. Special teams had given up too many big returns in 2011, UGA has fixed that, with the exception of 1 long return by Ace Sanders. Also, Blair Walsh’s field goal percentage was terrible, and the freshman has really improved, up to 80%, and even hit 2 field goals over 50 yards (only kicker in SEC to do so).
4. Rush game was bad in 2011, but #1 in SEC in 2012. This with a make shift oline and 2 freshmen rb’s.
5. Mark Richt was .670 against ranked teams in his 1st 5 years at UGA, higher than Saban, Miles, or Spurrier have been in their 1st 5 years at their current schools.
6. Mark Richt has 6 top 10 finishes at UGA, Bear Bryant had 1 in his first 11 seasons, and Saban only had 3.
7. Richt’s career win % is better than Saban, Spurrier
8. Richt’s career win % vs. winning teams is the best in the SEC, better than Saban, Miles, Spurrier, etc.

Naiive fan expect UGA to go undefeated every season, and beat every SEC team by an average fo 21 points (have beaten 5 of 6 teams in 2012 by average of 21 pts).

These fans are not realistic in their expectations. South Carolina & Florida are both in the top 10 in the country.

Truth is, no SEC team will go undefeated in 2012. Just not going to happen in this conference. LSU, UGA, and SC all already have 1 loss, UF will add its’s 1st soon, Bama will lose in the SEC Championship (no one in the SEC repeats as BCS Champ).

Bama had a loss in 2011, and still became Natl Champs. LSU had 2 losses in 2007, and still became Natl Champs.

After the beatdown and total lack of adult coaching evident in the South Carolina game, who actually thinks that UGA can beat Florida in Jacksonville? Florida is where UGA should be: number two in the polls just behind Alabama.

This will be another supreme embarassment on national television.
The silver lining–hopefully– is that the university will fire Mark Richt after the debacle that will happen.

I would bet that there are plenty of more UGA fans that watch on tv than attend the game. And most of these guys probably have loved UGA growing up especially when they were first there watching Hershel. So there are some die hard fans for over 30 years. They are just tired of having such great talent and not reaching the #1 goal and that should be winning a national championship. The goal shouldn’t be to make it to the SEC championship game. On the other hand, it does take a special fan to give to the Hartman Fund and sit in that terrible heat in Aug/Sept to watch them slap around cupcakes, only to really have 1-2 premier games which 1 is at a neutral site. First year as a season ticket holder and I only hope to have he opportunity to pay face value for the dome and miami game!

Murray needs to play without Michael Bennett to bail him out. He needs to look for Conley over the middle. The defense is still the biggest problem.. breakdowns in coverage, lack of a pass rush and weak against the run. Did I leave anything out? Just concentrate on Kentucky and reduce the mistakes and penalties this week. UGA should win by 21……. anything less and there is trouble ahead.

Look At the teams who are already close to being out of that race: USC, Nebraska, Ohio State, FSU, LSU, SC, UGa, Michigan, etc. You don’t have to win a NC or conf. Championship to have a fun team. If you’d told me we’d be ranked #11 in the BCS after 6 games, after losing the olinemen, after losing our top 2 running backs, after losing our top 2 tight ends, after seeing our top 2 defensive players suspended for 4 games each, after losing our top 2 wr’s in Mitchell and Bennett, with a freshman kicker and punter, and 2 freshmen rb’s, I’d have told you no way. But here we are, somehow, we did it. We had a bad 1st quarter against SC, it happens, you move on.

Bama gets Tenn, Miss St, LSU, A&M, Auburn over the next 6 weeks, they’ll lose 1-2 of those, they’ll also lose to UF or UGA in the SEC cHAMPship. NO one repeats as Natl Champ in the SEC, no one. It will be LSU, UF, SC or UGA. It will NOT be Alabama.

Real coaches coach their players the entire game. Real coaches have real game plans. I am not a coach. I would have had atleast a game plan for Clowney. Hell, LSU ran straight at Clowney. Teams are doing a great job on blocking the almighty Jarvis Jones these days. Why is it every game, the ga fans have to ask questions for the coaches. Why isn’t someone helping the OL block that guy? Why are we kicking to him? Why are we running up the middle everytime? Why don’t the coaches let our 3rd yr Qb check a play off,when every they got every player in the box? This offense lost its’ top 2 rb’s, wr’s, te’s, and olinemen in the offseason, yet still is #1 in total yards and rush offense and scoring.

The special teams lost its’ All American Punter, and All American field goal kicker, lewft with 2 fresmen to replace, yet UGA is ranked #11.

The defense lost #1 safety All American for 4 games, #1 ILB All American B for 4 games, #1 DB for 2 games, #2 OLB for 2 games, and still UGA is ranked #11 in the nation after 6 games.

I love the way folks call 12-2, 11-3, etc seasons, “same old crap with CMR”!!! His resume is pretty damn good…..light years better than 95% of the coaches out there. Yes, I want a better performance against the top ranked teams, but I also appreciate what he has accomplished……even if we get kicked by the Gators I will still support my Dawgs.

The beating we took in SC is not really representative of the potential we have. Sure, the coaching staff blew the game by not make the adjustments early, but they aren’t 28 points better. They just came out ready to play and we didn’t. Plus it didn’t help that Richt and Murray decided to use a visual queue on snaps that Clowney picked up right at the start.

The real test of this team is how we play against Florida. Recent tradition says it is a tough win for us. That said, with the talent we have, we should win. If we don’t, I’d say there should be some coaching changes. What good it 10 wins every season if we will always lose to two teams because the coaches can’t get our players fired up and the coaches can’t make the necessary adjustments.

Honestly, UGA will beat Kentucky. It won’t surprise me if we destroy them like we did Vandy. I also wouldn’t be surprised if we try some new things that cost us a bit and we don’t look that impressive at times. I guarantee the coaching staff is blowing off the comments when in front of the media, but that are going to be working the hardest they have in a while for the next two weeks.

And who ever posted that Auburn would beat us has no idea what they are talking about. They have not been watching Auburn play that is for sure.

When UGa wins a game they immediately start tearing down the opponent, their schedule, etc. I’m still trying to figure out how SC’s schedule is so much tougher than UGa’s. Yes, they played a mediocre LSU team and UGa faces a fairly good Ole Miss team. Or maybe it is that SC plays An egg sucking Arkansas team and UGa plays Auburn (SEC and NC champs just afewyears ago). Or maybe it is that SC has to play all the teams in the East SEC……oh, UGa hastoplay them too. I guess the differences UGaplays GA Southern and SC has to play the mighty Wofford. Oooooops, I just found out that Wofford lost toGA Southern on Saturday….my bad!!!

Let me rephrase, Teams fielded Saturday night, SC had the beater team to win the game. The interception in the 4th by Shaw was the game changer. LSU slipped by a sloppy Auburn team and got manhandled by UF. The point I was trying to make is that with their 2nd team, they still had the will to win. UGA has lost the time of possession in about all the games this year. UGA dominated the entire 1st half of last years SECCG. So stats can be deceiving as well as scoreboards.

Sammy has convinced me…Richt is the best coach in college football. He kept that Central Florida game close, even when Georgia was so undermanned talentwise. I’m proud of the way he had the dawgs prepared for the Colorado game. We only lost by 2 points to that juggernaut Colorado team that powered it’s way to a 5-7 record that year. And let’s not forget, we were almost competitive with Boise State last year for a whole quarter and half. Take away 20 or 30 plays in the SC game and we were even with ‘em.

And NO insider, I won”t admit we have the “worst Special Teams in the nation”. Because of cource, I am not prone to distorting reality, nor talking like a child pitching a hissy fit.

We have issues at punting, and appearantly extra points seem more difficult than a 50 yrd FG. They seriously need to work on those. Both have a common element, that will improve in time, IMO.

But in pretty much all the other categories of special teams, UGA is in the upper half of the league and actually better than many teams that I am betting you think have it all figured out.

Joey, not selling them short, just a realist. If we could throw the ball down field better (need better WRs) the offense would be more consistent. The D IS nasty as you say and the secondary is much improved since last year as those 3 true freshman we started have grown up. The sleeper in all of this is Ms State. Mullen finally has a QB and their D appears to be very good. He might beat LSU this year. You are right in that Driskel is a bigger Conner Shaw, or you might say a faster Tebow. Dude is 6-4, 240 and runs a 4.5 40 with a cannon for an arm. We just need some receivers.

My gripe about Richt is that UGA on his watch, beyond maybe two seasons, NEVER has the sheer talent OR depth needed to play BIB BOY ball on the O line. We always appear to be manhandled in our ugly blow out losses.

UT, Alabama, SC and AU come in to Georgia and take the good O linemen. LSU the other night ran behind their right tackle, from Buford, GA. One example of too many like just like that. CMR travels to Miami or NC or Jax to get linemen. That plan is failing. Look at the current UGA 2013 frosh class of 3 ? O linemen with one not coming now,

First of all, Florida has been dangerously close to losing on more than one occassion. I don’t think the Gamecocks are going to lose twice and that they will knock the Gators off this Saturday. Even if they lose….Georgia still has to beat Florida head to head. We saw what when Georgia played the one legit defense they have faced so it’s hard to be confident we will run the table.

Going back 22 years is revelant, because all of the recruits have grown up watching the Gators absolute destroy Georgia will. The dawgs think Jax is a jinx, so they tried a home and home in 94 and 95 and Spurrier hung 50+ on the dawgs at both sites. The 51 is the most ever scored on UGA at home. Just before the last series he asked what were the most scored on UGA at home, he then procede to go down and set the record.

Beast I know the AD at UK and unless he has changed his stripes and been forced, Petrino is not a candidate. Could be wrong because he is good at hiding stuff because he shut down the good old boy network when he came to UK. With all due respect to Coach Richt, that is a tall list of things that need improvement this far into the season and he didn’t even mention the need to put some pressure on an opposing quarterback. Kentucky is the next game and this coaching staff needs to focus on the Wildcats and get some pride back. The South Carolina game wasn’t just a loss, it was a beat down. Someone mentioned this earlier, but the Cats are 1-6. They should never (never) be in this game if Georgia expects to get some respect back. In my opinion it’s on the coaching staff. I don’t want to hear after the game that we didn’t know their quarterback was that quick or their D-line was quick off the corners and we weren’t prepared for that, or we were just happy to win by one point. BE PREPARED! Know the opponent and beat them for 4 quarters. Go DAWGS! GATA (and we all know what that means) for 4 quarters and the drill will be finished!

I guess you are right, a kid that has played half a year in the SEC can’t keep up with a red shirt senior that has started 3 years.
.Also, why are so high on a midget, he not as good as the QB’s at A&M, Missouri, Ark, Bama, Tenn.,
Fla and SC?

Mett is lost as a chicken. Murray behind that line would have LSU # 2 in the country. Mett at UGA and he wouldn’t even be starting, Mason would.

Mett could have played 3 years in the SEC by now but he messed up and paid the price.

Richt picked the right one of the 2.

What gives anybody here legitimate reason to believe–other than wishful thinking–that UGA can beat Florida.

Florida is not unbeatable. Frankly all they have done is beat LSU and LSU hadn’t looked good at all until last weekend. If bad teams like Bowling Green, Vandy, Tennessee, and Texas A&M can all play Florida close then UGA has as good of a shot as anyone.

The majority of the kids that are out 3 or 4 time a week are doing the same as me and a lot of my friends did in the 70’s when we were at Georgia. You go out with a hand full of friends , listen to a good band, had two beers and meet some girls. What is wrong with young kids doing most of that. Of course if they are not 21 they need to be drinking a coke . It will not affect their football play any at their age and it will help them relax after a hard practice. You are at Georgia for a few years and should enjoy the entire student experience.
Of course a very few over indulge but most keep it in check.

The Dogs inferior O-line play is going to be repeatedly exposed whenever they run into a talented, well coached SEC defensive line. The war is won or lost from the battles in the trenches. The current coaching staff (CCS) at UGA has done a poor job not only coaching but also recruiting in that area. Are there any bona-fide, talented O-linemen in the talent-rich state of Georgia ? If so why does UGA’s CCS always go digging around in Florida, mainly in Jacksonville for O-linemen ? I am sick and tired of so much at UGA with it’s CCS. And really tired of the CCS’s bad habit of letting Saban and Spurrier rape the state of Georgia for talent, while they import recruits from Florida and ACC country to meet it’s finesse, big game losing agenda. UGA is not FSU or in the ACC, and we need a coaching staff that has no threads to the ACC that understands the importance of recruiting Georgia first and foremost. The CCS is not playing power SEC or power Georgia football with Georgia products. But even if the CCS had superstar Georgia talent they most certainly would undercoach it and waste the talent. To remedy all the multiple problems that plagues UGA, it would be for the best to terminate it’s CCS. NexT: Wishlist of potential Richt replacements, coming up.

@ astrouga : You are right. Give under-sized, Sunbelt conference talent, QB Murray time to throw and he will certainly over-throw open receivers. The dumb pundits and talking-heads mention everybody for the heisman during the season……SO WHAT !!! Murray has as good a chance to win the heisman as Auburn’s Chizik, winning 2012 SEC Coach of the year. LOL!

UGA lost by 28 to South Carolina
South Carolina lost by 2 to LSU (not in own division)
Florida will lose to South Carolina and UGA may beat Florida, but South Carolina should still win the East.
Tennessee is Terrible!, and why Kentucky has not hired Petrino by now I just don’t understand.

I’m a DAWG fan and I don’t feel good about backing into SEC title game, if we can’t win it without someone else doing it for us, we don’t deserve to go to Atlanta! Well, it won’t happen anyway, because, CMR can’t beat the Gators! It’s a big game, and CMR can’t seem to win the big games anymore!

How is that fans that have never played or coached at high level can be so certain that the problem is the coaching? Richt has a better regular season winning percentage than Vince Dooley. The era between Dooley and Richt was a disaster. Winning percentage against the rivals was pathetic and did not even sniff a title. Who are you going to get that is better? The bashing and hating of the coaching staff is getting tiresome every time there is a loss or even a win not up to standards.

Old dog, totally agree with you regarding our O-line. Also in the Fl game we will see who Grantham really is. John Chavious at LSU had a game plan that prohibited Connor Shaw from beating them with his running ability. If Grantham does not have a spy for Driskell, then we are toast. If Driskell has to pass to win then I like our chances.

In our game against SC, we were not only “whipped”, but we were outcoached as badly as we were whipped. There should be no shame in being outcoached by Spurrier, who is one of the greatest college coaches of all time, but when we fail to play well in most of the biggest games of the season since 2007, then that’s a coaching issue. Ugh, I really hate having to raise questions about CMR but the evidence is out there.

of course, what if we win the east and then beat lsu or bama?? you think they let us into the bcs? we got blown out 35-0 at home and had a weak schedule. they’ll take a lot of other one loss teams before us as SEC fatigue kicks in. our season is over. we are playing for next year.

Forget about the East, worry about the next game. Once again Georgia has left this in someone else’s hands. Just win the next game then the next after that and so on.

Alabama’s A.J.McCarron is a better QB than UGA’s Murray. ‘Bama’s QB is a leader and he doesn’t make nearly the mistakes Murray does. Saban has him equipped with a solid, well-coached O-line. That’s something Murray does not have at UGA. But Murray has meaningless stats against meaningless opponents. McCarron has won big games at Bama, Murray has won none. Hey Sammy watch was all of Murray’s stats in the 35-7 Beatdown in Columbia, SC. Post those stats, Statboy ! LOL !

Utah Dawg, I hear you loud and clear. Coaches get too much credit and too much blame. The crown jewel of top-flight programs is competing for and winning NC’s. With the talent that we have had especially in ‘02,’03,’07,’12 it becomes disappointing to not maximize those opportunities. The Dooley era only matters if you want historical perspective, but if you want to compete in this era, look at what our current competitors have done. Ok, Auburn’s timing with Cam speaks for itself and now other than FL, LSU, and Bama, what other SEC schools would you think could have a realistic shot at a BCS title? Us and TN. TN has certainly fallen off recently and now all that is left is us. The success of our competitors and fan base/donors expectations is what leads to CMR ability to lead us to a NC being questioned. I never questioned him until the SC game and now I think the questions are justified and I really hate it.

18 years ago today, a scrappy UGA squad put up a great fight but lost to Vandy 43-30. Remember crying my eyes out after that one, But I knew better times were ahead. Saw it in a vision. Go dawgs!

georgia should take notes from LSU defensive coordinator. he didn”t worry about what steve spurrier was going to do.he lined up and told spurrier, here”s my best, beat me with your best. he didn”t hit and read and hold on the line of scrimmage as georgia did. georgia need an athletic quarterback. they have a loser in murray

Anybody who thinks UGA doesn’t have problems needs glasses or a hearing aide. This doesn’t mean we should all give up and quit playing. It means we have to work harder. Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, will be watching to see if UGA stumbles with Kentucky. Then they will be waiting for another collapse at the UF game. Look for the “silver lineing” in everthing. In 2005 when I was at UGA, nobody gave us a chance to beat #3 LSU and we STOMPED THEM

I still think FLORIDA BEATS SCAR because SCAR cannot win on the road – never really have, never will…they are still the same old gamecocks – can beat anybody at home when they are full of confidence…the minute that is shaken, they are done – especially on the road

and the way FLA has been run on – especially by VANDY, they may have a hard time vs UGA
