WHAT THEY SAID AFTER SOUTH CAROLINA’S 35-7 WIN OVER GEORGIA
“Obviously this was a special one … beating three years in a row a school that used to own you. They can’t say they own us anymore, that’s for sure.”
— South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier on the Gamecocks’ first three-game winning streak in the history of the Georgia-South Carolina series, which UGA leads 46-17-2
“This was actually my 250th overall win as a coach [including college, NFL and USFL], and having it against the Georgia Bulldogs is special, too. That’s a team that used to beat my alma mater [Florida] very well. I’ve been fortunate as a coach against them, not so much as a player, but as a coach.”
– Spurrier, 15-5 as a coach against Georgia (11-1 with Florida and 4-4 with South Carolina)
“Like I told the guys, ‘The bad news is we took a whipping, but the good news is that we all took it together.’ I don’t think anyone could look in the mirror and say, ‘I had a great day, but the other boys didn’t.’ … We got beat by a very good team that was primed and ready to go.”
— Georgia coach Mark Richt
“It stings. We felt like we had a great rhythm offensively going on in the first five games. … [South Carolina has] a very talented defense all over the board. They’re up there with the best I’ve ever played.”
— Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray after the Bulldogs, who averaged 48.2 points per game in the first five, were held to one touchdown against South Carolina (that with less than two minutes remaining)
“This was the greatest atmosphere I’ve ever played in.”
— South Carolina quarterback Connor Shaw
“He was pretty much reading me. If I got up field, he was going to take off running. … He made plays with his feet, and he was fast, faster than I thought he was.”
— Georgia linebacker Jarvis Jones on Shaw, who had 78 yards rushing on 14 carries
“I think we did a good job tonight. That was our goal — to come out here and put pressure on [Murray] and cause a lot of conflict with the offensive line. … [Georgia’s] offensive line gave away when they were going to hike the ball, so I got a good jump on it.”
— South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney
“We just made a lot of bonehead mistakes. Giving up big plays, jumping offsides, turning the ball over — we can’t do things like that and win ballgames. … It was just lack of focus on our part. When that happens, it’s easy for a team to make a big play, and that’s what they did.”
— Georgia cornerback Sanders Commings
“They had us on our heels all night. You’ve got to give that defense credit.”
– Georgia offensive coordinator Mike Bobo
“We gave up two touchdowns right off the bat on explosive plays. You can’t do that. … Give them credit. We dug ourselves a hole.”
— Georgia defensive coordinator Todd Grantham
“I think our stadium was probably the loudest in the country today.”
– Spurrier

@ Old Dawg:
CMR was not wallowing in self-pity because he is a man that knows there are OTHER things in this world more important than FOOTBALL and the sooner you and and your ilk learn that the sooner you may get some relief. It isn’t like a human died or was paralyzed for life. It is just a DAMN FOOTBALL GAME which you and your ilk apparently never played much less learned to coach.. Dawg Nation DOES NOT NEED FAIRWEATHER FANS like you and your ilk so go ahead and call Delta. DAMN IDIOTS!!! DFINO!!!!!

I’ve got a great idea. Why don’t y’all buy new black uniforms and convince your whole fan base to go out and buy all black also, and have a BLACK OUT game. That would be some good coaching there now.

I told DAWG NATION that this is exactly what would happen when they lost to SC. I just want to say to the UGA PLAYERS no matter if you win or lose there are still many fans of the game who recognize and appreciate your talents and passion for the game. All the taunting your loved ones had to endure from SC FANS and from the media still doesn’t hurt as much as when your so called fans yurn on you. Keep your heads up and play hard because “IT AINT OVER YET” and I wish I had a fraction of the talent that most of you guys have to share with the nation on TV as you do. Remember it’s a business and you only have each other to reley on in the trenches!

EXCELLENT POST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dawg Nation does not need these Single Digit IQ fools who think they know more than the people coaching and playing the game. I hate to use Bama as an example but it really is fitting that they lost to LSU last year and to my knowledge not a single “Fire the coach, the administration and players”.
To all the naysayers on here “Delta is ready…………………………………………..”
It must really be sad to have no life except a football game played by mostly teenagers.. Why would they want to raise hell over whose group of kids win the most games????

I don’t know if CMR is wallowing in self pity or not. I do know there are more important things in life than a football game. Your are right I never played much football and I never learn to coach at all but I believe I know another person that never learned to coach either. I won’t call any names but his int are CMR . Are you sure some of the Dawgs are not dead most of them looked like they were Saturday Nigh.t

“Spurrier, 15-5 as a coach against Georgia (11-1 with Florida and 4-4 with South Carolina)”
Richt should be fired for allowing a 4-4 record against South Carolina. Is there any argument which team has the better coach?
