With the return of all our starters on defense, I think Tennessee should have a tough time staying in the SEC lead in passing. I look for JJ to live in the Tennessee backfield and keep Bray on the ground. I see a couple of pick sixes in our future too. Go Dawgs, 5-0 here we come!

Something I think I have noticed from watching last year–Ogeltree is one of the leaders/spark plugs on our D. Everybody seems to play better. I think getting him and Rambo back will be bigger than many realize. We will see, but I am hoping for a big afternoon out of the D.

Dawgs center will have his hands full w/the 6′8″, 377lb NG. As noted above Andrews will need a helping hand. Having Tree and Rambo back just in time. TN can pass on anyone and will move the ball . Just have to make them one dimentional by stopping the run and hopefully get some picks from the secondary. TN has rained on GA’s parade in the past at Sanford so coaches have to get the guys ready to play. Jump on them fast and don’t let up. GO DAWGS.

This will be a very interesting game in my opinion. UGA really hasn’t played anybody of merit, and I think TN has enough weapons to make this a true test.
TN’s offensive line has protected Bray…they aren’t good at run blocking but very good at pass protection. I know that UGA fans expect Jones to sack the QB all the time, but Bray will get his yards, Hunter and Patterson will get their catches, and TN will be able to run the ball to some degree on UGA’s D-line. They will get some points.
The problem that TN has is on defense. As UGA fans can attest, switching to the 3-4 isn’t easy, and they are definately experiencing some growing pains. I think that TN’s poor defense is the story, and UGA wins late on a field goal.
Huh?

Georgia fans are so pathetic. As any other SEC team (or their fans) know, never NEVER overlook an SEC opponent. You may beat Tennessee this weekend and you may only drop one game this year to Carolina or Florida, most likely the later. And because of that super soft schedule and a whole lotta luck, you may even make it to the SEC championship. But once again, you will poorly represent the SEC east because Bama is going to drop the hammer on you worse than LSU did last year. So what is wrong with the SEC from a national perspective? I answer you in one word… Georgia.

UT fans- you need to watch the game film of Tyler Bray in the 2nd half of the Florida game. He can’t take a punch. Look at his face as he came off the field. He looked DEFEATED. That is not a leader. He gave up. He doesn’t like to get hit and he will get hit on Saturday.
I saw that face and I was shocked no one was talking about it. He looked whipped and that is unacceptable in a major college QB. He looks great when things are going right but watch what happens after he takes a few hits.

I would tend to agree with Huh? assessment of the game. (except for the winning on a late FG, which seems contradictory to what all he said).
I don’t see JJ living in the backfield, I don’t see shutting down Tn passing game. I do see them running it some, but not effectively.
And I agree that thier defence will struggled to stop the Georgia balance of ways they can move the ball. Appearantly I see that being a bigger factor in the score. It’s not a 3 point game. If there is a late FG in a closer than expected game, its to push it back out to a comfortable margin.

I don’t agree with huh at all…I think he is a tech fan. I think this will be a tough game..but one we should win…I think our D-line is worse than our secondary. Jenkins is the only one getting pentetration in the back field. G.smith or ray drew needs to finally step it up. everybody will be back for this game…so no more excuses. This will be the best offense we have played yet. I hope our o-line will continue to get better in this game…We have to have this game…these next four games will really tell what kind of team we will have.

The UT montra is that UGA loses the big games. 1) this isn’t any bigger than any other SEC game. 2) UGA has won 2 SEC championships since 2000, UT-0 (I’m thinking there were some big games in there somewhere) 3) This is a different, hungry UGA team. So more to the point, you disagree with the final score he is predicting. As did I. You said you don’t agree “at all”. That seemed a fairly broad dismisal of his post , IMO. especially when you basically agreed with some things he did say.
And he’s been pretty outspoken that he is not a Georgia fan, which is fine. I disagree with him often. IN fact I rarely think he is saying much more than repeating some fairly generic critisms, but actually many things he says is FAR less offensive towards UGA, than some of the folks in here who profess to BE Georgia fans. I just it curious why you thought he was a tech fans specifically. I’ve never know his critisism to come from a standpoint of a lesser team fan jealousy.(as they tend to be). Bro.

Just my humble opinion but I did watch the Tennessee/Florida game and for about 2 1/2 quarters Tennessee was even and nose to nose with the Gators, depth and fatigue seemed to set in on the Vols after that. As was posted by others the outcome of this game depends on many things- which Georgia team shows up the one we saw last week against Vanderbilt or the one we saw in the 1st half of the Florida Atlantic game. With Rambo and Tree back our “D” will be at full strength for the first time this year. But as always it depends on the play of the offensive and defensive lines if we dominate the line of scrimmage we will win decisively. If we don’t then it will be a close game and penalties, turnovers, missed assignments could determine the outcome. Either way we will know a little more about this team come Saturday night. I do like our chances as in watching Tennessee and that BIG Nose guard- his first move was up and he was slow in moving on the ball.

yea, that’s a tough assigment. Defending an Auburn fan in here. But fair is fair. Not to mention, I’m not exactly a big fan of his post either.
My questioing of your logic is that IF both offences can score. And the sake of argument, lets say they are equal, (although I believe ours is MUCH more capable). Then you call TN’s defence poor. I know you have questioned if ours is really as good as some claim but I know you don’t think UGA has a “poor” defence.
So how does a TN team with a not better offence, and a far worse defense, on the road, only rate 1-3 points less?

September 26th, 2012
2:35 pm
AltamahaDawg….In order for me to answer your question, I would have to agree with you that UGA’s offense is that much better than TNs…I do not.
I think that TN will be able to move the ball and score some points, as I said earlier. UGA’s defensive line hasn’t been dominant, except for the Vandy game, which I don’t believe was a true test. TN’s run game has improved slightly (their average at this point compared to this time last year is better). Given that, I believe that TN will be able to run the ball some as I said earlier as well. I’m not saying that TN’s run game will be great, but they will be able to run enough to keep UGA out of the nickel and dime all night long. Also, like I said Bray will get his yards.
On the flip side, UGA’s strength at running the football appears to be between the tackles. As has been noted in other articles, TN’s weakness is in teams running the ball on the edge…that is, they do pretty well at stopping the run up the middle.
So…I think you will see two fairly even offensive teams. TN’s problem is that their defense isn’t as good as UGA’s…so I think you will see a fairly close game with UGA winning at the end. Do I know for certain that it will be via field goal? No…none of us do. It’s just a way to say that UGA will win late in the 4th quarter after a close game.

I like both Gurley and Marshal a lot, and we need both of them to play each week. However, I would like to see Gurley get more carries. It seems that when he gets the ball a good number of times he breaks a big one to score or set up a score. He appears to be stronger and more powerful than Marshal, yet has at least the same, if not more, speed and elusiveness. Not a slight of Marshal – he has a fine future as well. I just would like to see Gurley get more carries, especially now that the weather is getting cooler each week.. Go Dawgs!

Joe Jenkins…I really don’t see the need to call me an ahole. What, exactly, have I done to you? From what I read, we were both saying about the same thing, so I’m not sure why you are so hostile.
I have said on this very site who my school is. The reason that I don’t announce it every time I come on? Because usually most fans will act like you have no right to say anything if your school isn’t a football power (mine is not). They want to make fun of your school, and dismiss your opinions…as if you have no merit in what you are saying simply because the team you root for isn’t very good. They will say that you are just jealous, or that UGA beats your school all the time, or come back when you win something. I am on this site because I enjoy talking about college football. I enjoy expressing my opinion, and reading what others have to say.
Do I always agree with the blogs that I read? No…just ask AltamahaDawg. However, I don’t curse, call people idiots, insult them, hate, disrespect, or any of that. If you choose to do so, then you are certainly entitled. I just choose to carry myself with a bit more class.

I was born in the state of Georgia. We moved (due to my parents’ bussinesses) when I was 3 years old to the state of Kentucky. I attended KY, and received my BA in business in 1991. I then attended Vanderbilt for 2 years, where I received my graduate degree in economics.
So…I have nothing against UGA. I don’t hate them at all. I don’t have anything against Tech either, although I’m not a fan. I do pull for my alma mater at KY, but really just enjoy college football on the whole.
Now…I’m not sure exactly what that has to do with what I said (when I called for UGA to beat TN), but there you have it.

Hey Cal22 –
I am going to assume you’re a Bama fan -
1. Do you really think Bama has a tough schedule this year? Michigan is not who everyone thought and LSU is the only other real game on your schedule. And, let’s be honest after the AU/LSU game – what do we really know about LSU?
2. Let me educate you – UGA and Bama were scheduled to play this year, but the SEC substituted Missouri. That was not our call –
3. Don’t you ever talk down to the UGA nation and then turn around and use “LOL” in a post. No male (I am also assuming you’re a male), regardless of age should ever use “LOL” – did you really laugh out loud Cal?
4. If you’re not a Bama fan – you’re an even bigger Douche Bag than I thought for coming on this blog and not having the balls to let everyone know who you pull for -

No, I granted that (IF) UGa and TN had equal offenses already. That was a fairly critical part of my point. (the fact that I don’t believe that is a different matter).
All I am saying is that because of the 2 capable (and equal) offences, it would seem to me that an inferior defense on one side or the other would be even more amplified in the score.

To me the thing that nobody knows now is the (defense up the middle vs defense on the outside) type matchups. Not sure TN has faced enough foes to know that. Nor Georgia.
Nor do I think that Georgia has even shown its outside rushing game. Now, I do not think that happened to be a stregnth of Georgia offenses in the previous 2 yrs. I NEVER understood some of our fans complaining about not running so and so, (Carlton Thomas for example) on the outside. We failed. Thats why. But I do believe we are more capable with this group of RBs, WR to do better. Also, so far we have been very good at passing to the edge as an alternative.

UGAb, you are correct. UGA is not ALabama. We don’t grey-shirt our players. We don’t over-recruit and tell kids all kinds of crap to get them here. Our coach has been with our Organization for over 10 years and was with FSU for 10 years prior to that. Your coach’s past will catch up with him in the next few years and you will be looking for the number to Lame Kiffin.
Your school and your team is the turd-nest of the SEC. The only thing halfway close to the Alabama Roll-turd is the Auburn Liars…I mean Tigers. You’re both from the same state, though. Just some kissin’ cousins you two are!! Thanks for coming to the UGA sight. Alabama… it’s just a state full of phenominally intelligent people. LOL!!!

I see a wild game with UT playing some big boy D and A Murray getting very rattled. I see our running game take over late in the game with UGA on top, 36-29 and winning a thriller. UT does get sky high to play UGA in Athens.
UGS frosh backs might be the diffe, rence as far as UGA controlling the clook and allowing the D a blow or two.
