Georgia-South Carolina game time set; Gurley honored

Georgia’s Oct. 6 football game at South Carolina will kick off at 7 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN,  the SEC announced today.

Georgia is ranked No. 5 and South Carolina No. 6 in this week’s Associated Press media and USA Today coaches’ polls. Both teams are 4-0.

On Saturday, Georgia plays Tennessee in Athens (3:30 p.m. on CBS) and South Carolina plays at Kentucky.

The 3:30 p.m. game on CBS on Oct. 6 will be LSU-at-Florida.  LSU is ranked No. 3 and Florida No. 11 in this week’s AP poll; the Gators are No. 12 in the coaches’ poll. Both teams are 4-0.

In other UGA football news today, tailback Todd Gurley was named the SEC Freshman Player of the Week for his performance against Vanderbilt. Gurley ran for 130 yards and two touchdowns, his third 100-yard rushing performance in four college games. He leads the SEC in rushing (101.5 yards per game), scoring (10.5 points per game) and all-purpose yards (164.2 per game).

How could anyone think that UT has something for UGA this week? Defense is finally at full strength now and we would beat them without those guys. Get real. Dogs win big this week and then go to SC to take care of Spurrier and shut the crowd up in Columbia. And Game Day should be set up there!

Let’s give those ugly orange pants of Dooley’s a big green grass stain! Stay focused and we will win. There is no trap, just one game at a time. Saturday will be the biggest game on the schedule until the next one. THIS IS OUR NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP! Bring down Rocky Top! GO DAWGS!!!

Tennessee has no running game unless Bray runs and you can stop that by tackling him real hard. Make him pay.
We need to blitz on nearly every play.Georgia win this by 17 to 21 points.

mad-catfish, I guess you came out of the closet and exposed yourself for what you really are, you might want to try and watch some quality football instead of your porno films.

Huh, my point is that after what u rant about does not happen and the dawgs do play to there potential you should acknowledge that and then say what else we need to do! I have been disappointed in the dawgs over the last 4 years but last years comeback of winning 10 games in a row and the obviously better leadership this year has truly given us a reason to cheer! By the way continually referencing drinking the kool-aid is in reference to the Jonestown Massacre in which people sold out and bought fully into a religious Zealot! When I talk up my beloved Dawgs, I want us to win. We are in the best conference and are either 2-5 best team. If we beat SC then I would say we are the 2 best! If not I will say to you SC is better and we need work! When we win Saturday and next week, I just ask that you acknowledge the worth of this team! But until we prove it, I understand your skepticism!

What little I saw of SC last weekend, Lattimore looks tentative and decidedly average. This is too bad. He was a terrific player before he got hurt.

Congratulations to Todd Gurley for his award! I would say that there will be more to come! I am really excited about watching the Gurley/Marshall show for the next couple of years. Remember when everyone was all worried over the summer that Gurley was going to be stuck way down on the depth chart?

Hey Cocky…welcome to Saturday Night football, we understand y’all used to playing on Thursday nights. Grown man football is played on Saturdays not Thursdays. Btw I think this will be another classic game at the real Columbia. Not that fake Columbia in Mizzou.

No one in the SEC has an offense as explosive as Clemsons.

(We beat Auburn (without our #1 playmaker Sammy Watkins), who nearly beat LSU. For you UGA droolers who need something familiar to grasp the point, remember how different your sqaud was with/without AJ Green?)

I can’t wait to see FSU embarass whoever the SEC champ is

Funny story on Gurley. This summer, when we are all starved for college football we were debating this and that after the scrimmage reports. As we were pontificating, one of our experts was ready to crown Gurley the starting TB after the first scrimmage or so because he was averaging 10+ yards per carry. I thought I was being cute when I told him not to get excited–if Gurley averages (I’ll say 10, but it was somewhere around there) yards per carry, I guarantee you the coaches will make him the first string TB. Dawg-gone if Gurley isn’t averaging close to 10 yards a carry after the first four games! Turns out we were both right, Gurley was the number 1 TB and the coaches realized his ability after averaging a ridiculous ypc average. He is definitely a keeper. Go Dawgs.

For some of you insiders or dawg fans who are close enough to the program to be able to observe can you tell if Rambo and Ogletree will be 100% ready to keep up with other team players who have actually played 4 games already.

One other point on Gurley…a couple of more games at 9+ ypc, and he will start getting hyped like the great ones. People laughed when 36 compared him to Trent Richardson. Maybe Williams was ahead of the class?

Marc – Scar never has equal or better talent than UGA so its a pointless question. we will prove in 2 weeks that that is the case this year as well….

Tiger Man…you sure are propping up FSU instead of your own team….ACC better than SEC this year….we shall see. South Carolina may have something to say about your Clemson Tigers. Might want to rub Howards Rock a little harder.

One difference between Hershel Walker and Gurley is that Walker had to touch the ball 25-40 times per game to get the yardage he accumulated. I’ve never seen two backs have the impact that Gurley and Marshall have had. I would be interested to see what Gurley could do if he had to tote the load Walker toted (Hershel right, Hershel left, Hershel up the middle). Defenses can’t key on those two guys due to all the weapons UGA has. If the line keeps blocking and receivers keep catching and Murray keeps playing better than any QB in UGA history….this will be a year for records. But, if they lose a game, don’t get too down on them. Undefeated in the SEC is an accomplishment in itself. Even Bama didn’t go undefeated last year.

Bazooka Joe, so what you are saying is the HBC not only beats the Dogs with better or equal talent, he also beats the dogs with less talent? Tell me how you plan on winning again? LOL!!
