Georgia’s Oct. 6 football game at South Carolina will kick off at 7 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN, the SEC announced today.
Georgia is ranked No. 5 and South Carolina No. 6 in this week’s Associated Press media and USA Today coaches’ polls. Both teams are 4-0.
On Saturday, Georgia plays Tennessee in Athens (3:30 p.m. on CBS) and South Carolina plays at Kentucky.
The 3:30 p.m. game on CBS on Oct. 6 will be LSU-at-Florida. LSU is ranked No. 3 and Florida No. 11 in this week’s AP poll; the Gators are No. 12 in the coaches’ poll. Both teams are 4-0.
In other UGA football news today, tailback Todd Gurley was named the SEC Freshman Player of the Week for his performance against Vanderbilt. Gurley ran for 130 yards and two touchdowns, his third 100-yard rushing performance in four college games. He leads the SEC in rushing (101.5 yards per game), scoring (10.5 points per game) and all-purpose yards (164.2 per game).

Please Dawg fans, do not overlook the Vols…remember 2004? We smashed LSU the week before in Athens with Tennessee coming to Athens the next week. They came in and beat us. Lets take care of UT first then the chickens later.

@We Run The East
Spurrier is keeping his powder dry this year- Lattimore will be unleashed against Dawgs, though. SC is working and playing for bigger things this year than any big #’s for individual players. go ahead Dawg fans, kid your self into thinking this will be an easy UGA victory. I walked into Sanford stadium last year desiring a big SC victory, but once I saw the crowd, the noise, the atmosphere, i knew the best I could hope for was ANY kind of victory. SC did it last year and now Dogs gotta try to do it at NIGHT against the 2 of the biggest bulldog beaters ever- Spurrier and Lattimore! Glad it is in Columbia! I love SEC football and talking junk!

Keep holding on to those memories from last year..You may have to recall them week after next.

North Georgia…a lot of qbs make mistakes when pressured…that’s why you pressure them to begin with. Bray will get his yards…Hunter and Patterson will get their catches…and TN will score some points.
The reason UGA will beat TN is because TN’s defense is pretty bad.

I’m just glad Tree and Rambo have 1 game against TN to shake the rust off before we face the chicks. IF we can win out there is no way we’d be kept out of the NCG. We’d have wins over a #6 SC team, #1 Alabama Team, and a FL team that will be ranked much higher at the time of their game against UGA than they will be when they meet FSU. If Oregon, UGA, and FSU are all undefeated I think Oregon gets a nod and I just don’t see the BCS system rewarding FSU for 1 win against a #10 Clemson (who will have lost to SC as well by the end of the season). The Bulldogs are in complete control of their own destiny and it feels great

Pazian…you better hope the rust doesn’t effect the game against TN. TN has weapons, and can win if the Dawgs are thinking about SC.
And yes…if UGA wins all of their games they will go undefeated and play for it…but have you seen Bama play? I don’t see anybody beating them.

Rick James losing to Auburn I guess is the same as UGA losing to Tn a few years back and not getting to play in the SEC Championship game or the NC Game. Funny how Flea Bags have short memories

The diiference that CMR didnt blame another team’s schedule for not making the championship game like Spurrier did.

@huh — I agree with you. The thing that makes me nervous about the TN game is the fact that Rambo and Tree will probably be a little rusty. We’ve already seen a bit of rust this season as our starters have slowly returned to form. I think UGA has the talent and should beat TN but nothing in CFB, especially the SEC, is a given. As for Alabama, you’re right it would certainly take UGA’s best effort and then some to topple the tide. That being said, it can be done. If our offence plays its best game the vaunted Bama D will receive its best test of the year.
@Paizan — wow, my 2nd post ever on this blog and I’ve already earned an impersonator
I’m honored, You missed the spelling a bit though.

Ga. will beat South Carolina, easily, at least by two touchdowns. In fact Ga. will go undefeated and play Ala. in the Sec. championship and could end up playing FSU in the BCS championship game.

I hope we kill the chickens…what kind of football team has a chicken for a mascot? a stupid one like sc does….Why are we even worried about this game right now…our only concern should be with tenn… I think we could get upset if we get caught look ahead…I hope the team is not looking past the vol’s like our fan’s are. I dont now if we can stop lattiimore and i dont know if richt can out coach spurrier….I sure hope we can… columbia sc= hell on earth and a crack town

Ga. will beat South Carolina by two toucdowns or more and will probaly go undefeated and play Ala. for the SEC championship. GA. or Ala. could end up playing FSU for the BCS title. Don’t get me wrong I could care less about either school. (will wager a small amount)

@joe — LOL, I was thinking the same thing about the Chickens. Imagine, for a second, if the Oregon ducks and USC Chickens go undefeated. If the title game is Donald Duck vs Foghorn Leghorn…. who do you put money on? Tough call LOL
– regarding us looking ahead to SC…. I think the reason most GA fans are looking ahead on this particular thread is because the article itself is about the SC Game. I’m pretty sure our coaches won’t let the team overlook TN.

Good for Gurley, hope the young man stays healthy, he’s got a bright future. For all you fellow Dawgs counting your chickens before they hatch, I’m not sold yet. We have a solid team but our kicking game has holes, our secondary hasn’t been as stingy as it will need to be, and I’ve seen to many collapses the last five years to feel comfortable with Richt and company just yet. We’re one play away from having to play a QB with zero experience. Stay humble and hope for the best. Maybe this will be the year.

Why so much discussion about who has the best “west” schedule. Ole Miss is probably better than Arkansas…….and LSU was not the least impressive against Auburn and squeaked-out a 12-10 win. Looks like a push to me, but only time will tell. P.S. Wasn’t it a lousy Auburn team that ruined SC’s season……and UGa blew them out of Sanford Stadium.

I know it doesn’t matter, but what arguement could you possibly have for an unimpressed UF team and an LSU team that doesn’t look that strong?

Exactly what has been unimpressive about the Gators so far? (notice the use of the adjective form, not the verb form, of the word)…now…that was impressive.

ESPN the dominator. They alwys get what they want. Nothing is ever done for the people who pay for the tickets, because ESPN wants what they want when they want it. There would be double the audience if it were a three=thirty PM game. Just to be frank about the situation, I hate the ESPN, Always have and always will. It is not about the audience they can pick up, but just want to screw the people who would rather see their own team of networks, just don”t want anything to do with espn.

joe jenkins finally comes crawling back after running his suck non stop about how “we” are okay but not as good as everyone thinks. Hey jj post that list again of the 10 teams that Georgia would lose to again.
Better yet explain why such a huge Georgia fan who had been posting constantly for days up until the Dawgs beat the crap out of vandy has been in hiding until now. It would seem like even a moderate Georgia fan would have been here to congratulate his team.
Enough with the we and us stuff pee wee. You are not now nor have you ever been a Georgia fan. You are a sad little troll with no life and some pathetic notion that you can “undermine” UGA with your crafty secret identity. A few pointers for your next fake identity. You might want to post at least once or twice and talk about “our” win before you leap into reason we could lose and how much better the cocks are.

Tampa Gator, all three teams from the East did what they needed to do last Saturday, won big. It’s shaping up to be a great race to the SECCG. I give the overall nod talent wise to the Dawgs but UF, and Spurrier have the psychological advantage over UGA, and we have the scheduling advantage. I’m looking forward to seeing how it plays out and wouldn’t be surprised if there isn’t a surprise or two. I think the Gators and the Chickens deserve tremendous respect.

Tenn. and only tenn. should be on UGA’s mind. Play them one at a time.
Auburn lost a Graduate Asst. Coach- age 23- only a few hours b/4 their game with LSU and perhaps that had more than a little to do with how they played. One would hope so, at any rate. Prayers with the family and team.
Mizzou and Vandy both had all year to prepare for UGA and USC, and both played an opening SEC game at home. Throw the comparisons out; they are meaningless.

CBS picked LSU vs Florida because of television ratings. SC has not had much success traditionally in football until recently whereas the Gators and Bayou Bengals are a stronger national brand as each has won 2 BCS titles each since 2003.
