Georgia-South Carolina game time set; Gurley honored

Georgia’s Oct. 6 football game at South Carolina will kick off at 7 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN,  the SEC announced today.

Georgia is ranked No. 5 and South Carolina No. 6 in this week’s Associated Press media and USA Today coaches’ polls. Both teams are 4-0.

On Saturday, Georgia plays Tennessee in Athens (3:30 p.m. on CBS) and South Carolina plays at Kentucky.

The 3:30 p.m. game on CBS on Oct. 6 will be LSU-at-Florida.  LSU is ranked No. 3 and Florida No. 11 in this week’s AP poll; the Gators are No. 12 in the coaches’ poll. Both teams are 4-0.

In other UGA football news today, tailback Todd Gurley was named the SEC Freshman Player of the Week for his performance against Vanderbilt. Gurley ran for 130 yards and two touchdowns, his third 100-yard rushing performance in four college games. He leads the SEC in rushing (101.5 yards per game), scoring (10.5 points per game) and all-purpose yards (164.2 per game).

@Huh?

Rick…I take it that you are either very young, or you never played football.

Offensive lines can be very good at one and not the other. The technique, mindset and motivation from one to the other are very different. I know you aren’t really happy with me, but you need to not go down this path, because it makes you sound not so smart. I am trying to help you

Rick James…thanks for insulting me…it’s a clear sign that you are out of anything intelligent to say.

Stay classy Rick…stay classy

Get your panties out of a bunch..Again this is a blog where people have different opinions and people should not get uptight with those who dont agree with them.I dont need your respect your validation or for you to teach me anything. What I need you to do is accept this for what it is.A blog about college football.

Nothing Could Be Finer… SC beat Mizzou same spread we did 41 – 20 vs 31 – 10…and we did it on the road without 4 defensive starters. Not even a close comparison….better bring a better team than I have seen this year if you expect this not to be ugly for ya’ll.

Chris Mike…the problem is that you don’t get to go back in time and take “those three huge turnovers” away. Mistakes are as much a part of football as great plays are…they all add up. If UGA was that good last year, then they wouldn’t had those turnover.

@ga gator in my book any affection is better than no affection..but that’s just me…also you were right about Vandy having all summer to prepare for SC…just like Mizzou had to prepare for us and 21 points is 21 points just ask your bookie…

Chris Mike you are letting your emotions get into the equation, that is why I quit betting on football. Murray will have to do it against a good D before I drink the coolaid and Shaw is very good and his health seems to be improving. UGA will win but it will be very close.

When I used the word respect, it wasn’t meant to be respect to you as a person. Rather, a lack of respect to continue to debate with you. Again, I don’t care if you read my posts…or disagree with them. However, if you are going to debate me by using an arguement that you yourself go back on, then I have no time for it.

7676 trust me it is worth it. WDE you are correct about affection and I believe the USC game will be close, for us also. Like I said, Driskel is getting better each week and Pease (from Boise) is a good QB coach, but Driskel is still only 3 games into being a starting QB so we probably are a little over rated.

7576Dawg….the debate about whether UGA’s schedule is strong or weak is old. Everybody knows that UGA’s schedule has been favorable for the last couple of years….just enjoy it and move on.

Is the East better? maybe marginally…however, Bama is still the best team in the SEC so it doesn’t really matter unless you play them in the regular season.

Oh come on. SC was blowing them out pretty much the whole game. Missouri had to score a late meaningless touchdown to get the game that close. It wasn’t nearly the same as the UGA game.

Clearly SC and Coach Superior wanted the game at night in Columbia…so guess what? Of course that’s what they got. The Tennessee game won’t be easy and if we should happen to lose it it’ll make the SC game that much more important. Regardless, this Georgia team is showing us something that we haven’t seen in quite a while. Like many of UGA fans I think this one could go all the way if, as they say, they remain focused and not get cocky…we’ll leave that to the team that’s so into that attitude, they even use it for a nickname/mascot/ball coach. And not to contradict myself in this one post, just think how good it would feel to beat the ever-lovin crap out of that egotistical, visor-tossin, jerk.

hard to say UF is over-rated. the fact that UF has played 2 road games in hostile environments as an underdog and won speaks greater to who UF is than 95% of the teams in the country thus far. Majority of teams have played 3 home games and at least 2 of them were “cream-puffs.”

UF looks to have the toughest schedule in the country.
#3 LSU
#4 FSU
#5 UGA
#6 SC

Will the above teams all be rated as high when UF plays them, probably not…but on paper and on September 24th, that’s easily the hardest schedule in the country

UGA will be undefeated when we get to SC and when we leave!

Florida’s #11 ranking is a crock….

UGA has Ogletree and Rambo back this week…..look out SEC opponents! They will be the difference in who wins the UGA game against South Carolina….4 All-Americans on D and UGA owes them for giveing them 20 plus points last year that their offense did not score on our defense….it will be like th payback Vandy just got for being a little too “cocky”……

Wow, different to see you admit this GTBoob. It wasn’t the same game. The hype of Mizzou was died down for SC who also had them at home for a day game. The pregame pressure was more on UGA than was on SC for playing Mizzou

UGA looks very strong this year on both sides of the ball. I think it will be a very exciting game. I saw a couple of absurd posts stating Lattimore is overrated, so here are his stats against UGA:

Lattimore vs. UGA
2010 broke 42 tackles on 37 carries, rushing for 182 yards and 1 TD
2011 27 carries for 176 yards for 1 TD

Thats a good point Bob. First game is rusty and nerves and excitment etc. That is why Missouri did not get a thrashing from UGA that they would certainly get now….

I wont ask whats Tech’s excuse againt the Canes though since it was several games in….

All I have to say people….UGA eathered the storm we were in the last couple years and are going to reap the blessing from being strong. The next 5-6 years are UGA’s. They will be in the top 5 in the nation every year among the elite and will be playing for the NC…maybe a year earlier than anticipated…just like going to the SEC Championship game last year a year earlier than expected….its good to be a Bulldog fan…..One game at a time. Bring Bama on….with the UGA defense come the end of the year being incredibly strong and even up with Bama’s….its anybody’s game……then look at the offenses and it is very winnable. A year experience in last years game will be a tremendous help and with the leadership on offense and defense this year…..aint nobody scared of NOBODY…..NOBODY….

UGA will beat Tenn. We will not lose a home game this year. The SC game will be a tough game regardless. SC’s defensive front line may be the best in the SEC. Will probably come down to TO’s. Still say Dawgs by a TD.
