Georgia-South Carolina game time set; Gurley honored

Georgia’s Oct. 6 football game at South Carolina will kick off at 7 p.m. and will be televised on ESPN,  the SEC announced today.

Georgia is ranked No. 5 and South Carolina No. 6 in this week’s Associated Press media and USA Today coaches’ polls. Both teams are 4-0.

On Saturday, Georgia plays Tennessee in Athens (3:30 p.m. on CBS) and South Carolina plays at Kentucky.

The 3:30 p.m. game on CBS on Oct. 6 will be LSU-at-Florida.  LSU is ranked No. 3 and Florida No. 11 in this week’s AP poll; the Gators are No. 12 in the coaches’ poll. Both teams are 4-0.

In other UGA football news today, tailback Todd Gurley was named the SEC Freshman Player of the Week for his performance against Vanderbilt. Gurley ran for 130 yards and two touchdowns, his third 100-yard rushing performance in four college games. He leads the SEC in rushing (101.5 yards per game), scoring (10.5 points per game) and all-purpose yards (164.2 per game).

Rick James Lattimer is as overrated they get

Dont get me wrong..Lattimore is good and maybe even great, but I wouldnt take him over Jarvis Jones and at this point dont consider him head and shoulders above Gurley and Marshall..

Rick James you are a moron, UGA beat Missou by the same margin as SC did and don’t talk about losing to a not so good Auburn team last year. It must be nice to have a short memory like dog fans do (among other things), you forget about losing to powerful KY and Vandy at home in recent years. Flea bags are pathetic. The Ball Coach will hang 30 on Choke Granthams Criminals and win by 10. Murray reverts back to his midget self and throws 3 picks and leaves Carolina without still beating a ranked team.

Anybody know of a radio station in Alabama that would carry the UGA/SC game? I’m going to be at Talladega. Can’t imagine that is a big priority there but thought I would ask.

@USMC …I totally agree with you. I do think UF, as much as I hate to say it, is the best team on our schedule. I think they’ll beat SC this year. But you know ESPN has this weird love affair with UF and LSU. They went to a UF/AM game with neither one being ranked. Then they followed them to TENN. I bet if Tenn was coming here undefeated, they still wouldn’t come here.

Clowney is a gamechanger against our oline!! If they line him up against Theus…might be a long day for Murray.
Lattimore will be shut down for majority for game, still not running 100%…but is one of fav SEC players to watch. Will have a few good runs. But Connor will be running for his life…and have regular meetings with Rambo, Ogletree, Herrera, and Williams. His shoulder will be the least of his problems after all that.
USC defense will give a good fight, but not enough to win the game. But I do like that lil guy returning kicks/punts. Dude is fast!! Will be difficult to tackle.

Loyal Dawg you are typical. Let’s see; ESPN hates UGA, All Refs hate UGA, Verne and Gary Danielson hate UGA, Kirk Herbstreit hate UGA, Lou Holtz hates UGA, Todd Blackledge hates UGA, Mark May and Steve Spurrier hate UGA (that might actually be true). Everyone but Pollack hates UGA. The Dawgs sure have an inferiority complex.

The Dawgs look focused on talking one game at a time. I don’t think we’ll have a stumble against UT. As a matter of fact I believe we will hang 30 or 40 points on ‘em.

For some reason Mizzou forgot about Lattimore – even late in the game.
We won’t.

Gotta throw my 2cents in. UGA seems to be on a roll and should handle Tn going away in the 2nd half, 41-24 and head into Carolina undefeated. Game will be close and Carolina’s stadium will be rocking with a night game. Which ever QB plays better will win the game and both are coming off great games this past saturday. Clowney chasing Murray and Jones chasing Shaw is about a wash as are the 2 running games. Just a hunch but I think UGA wins 27-23 and holding on late.

And the reason is you have yet to beat a ranked team with Murray the QB. Nobody believes you are real and until that changes you will receive no respect.

Calm down man,no need for name calling..In spite of what you say the reason you didnt win the east was because you lost to a not so good Auburn team at home.Win that game and you win the division. You lost the game and then Spurrier whines about Georgia’s schedule..SC did struggle to beat Vandy and you’re not is good this year as you were last year. This is a better and more balanced Georgia team than you played last year and they do want to shut Spurrier’s mouth..See how easy it is to make point without personal insults?

Loyal Dawg…the reason UGA isn’t as talked about is this….a lot of people think that UGA is over-rated. You probably won’t be considered a legit top 5 team until you beat TN, FL and SC. Buffalo and FAU are bad football teams (and UGA didn’t look that good against them anyway), Vandy is back to being Vandy, and Missouri is looking more and more like a pretty average football team. When UGA beats a ranked team, then people will start talking more about you.

Rick James losing to Auburn I guess is the same as UGA losing to Tn a few years back and not getting to play in the SEC Championship game or the NC Game. Funny how Flea Bags have short memories.

Rick James…the same logic can be applied to all the Dog fans that complain about 2007. Fans that year want to complain that Tenn played for the SEC against LSU, and further that UGA didn’t get to play for the NC. Well, all UGA had to do was beat TN…and not lose to a SC team that didn’t even have enough wins to qualify for a bowl game.

Bottom line…if you were a SC fan, you would be complaining too. UGA has had two years where they don’t have to play Bama, SC or Ark. Everybody knows that the SEC schedule is set by the league office….and UGA will be in a better position at the end of the year because of it. However, you can’t be so sensitive when someone brings it up.

The bad thing about Crowell and Ealey’s self centered arrogant ways and wanting to dictate policy , is they probably won’t even get a try out at the next level. Pro football don’t play and I thing Crowell and Ealey leaving one of the most respected programs because of their attitude will turn out to be the worst decision of their lives. They just could not comprehend how great they had it.

Loyalty Dawg,

You might be right about UF, time will tell. I just think USC is pretty solid this year. I think UF’s play has been sloppy. And I agree we don’t get any respect. It might have something to do with tanking in 2008.

Jawga,

Your arguement about not beating anyone ranked, ok that might work. But what about UF? UT isn’t ranked right now, so why all the love? You can’t honestly tell me UF has had an impressive win? The media built up the A&M game and raved about the environment they went into, they raved UT is finally back….(crickets), they talked how they’re D dominated a weakass UK team without their starting QB. Am I missing something?

Good point.

The dogs defense will get exposed by Tenn. and Spurrier really hasn’t had to open the playbook very much so far this year.

Also…trying to be cute about Vandy not playing Alabama, LSU or ARK is a joke of argument and you know it. Again, UGA avoiding those schools will put UGA into a better position come December….so enjoy it. However, people on this blog aren’t the only ones talking about it.

USMC I don’t remember mentioning UF, but since you did I would say winning in those 2 back to back places on the road is more significant than the UGA win at Missou. I don’t dislike UGA but I get tired of their whining fans complain about how they are always mistreated. Trust me they have earned their lack of respect and until they win something without folding it will continue. This might be the year they do it, Gurley is the best back I have seen in the SEC since Hershel and that is including Lattimore and Emmit.
