ATHENS — It was a big weekend for Georgia offensive lineman Chris Burnette, and we’re not talking about the offensive barrage the Bulldogs put on Vanderbilt Saturday night.
On Sunday, Burnette surprised his longtime girlfriend, Arielle Haynes, with an on-stage proposal during a service at Athens Church. According to witnesses, tons of Georgia players were in attendance, including quarterback Aaron Murray, tailback Todd Gurley and tackle John Theus. They made their presence known with a hardy ovation after Burnette had gone to one knee to propose marriage and Arielle accepted.

I don’t get on a knee for anyone except God. Not my wife, not even the Queen of England.
Such an emasculating concept. To get on a knee!!!! WTF.

Just another example:
Coach Mark Richt’s coaching Grown Man Football. Not only preparing players for the next level of football but also preparing them for the next level to be Grown Men throughout their lives after football!
Well done, #68 Chris Burnette DGD, the Georgia Way!

Football is so much more than W’s and L’s to the players. It’s about a life long friendship that these coaches and players share that will last forever!! Congrats!!

So disappointing to see the negative comments made under the cloak and false courage of anonymity. Why not celebrate for this couple. Best wishes to the both of you, as individuals and as you prepare to unite in the name of The Lord.

@Furious Styles…..Cheaper to do it in church. Have you been to church lately, it’s not a cheap date anymore. He should have done it in the car on the way home from the game. LOL
