Georgia lineman Chris Burnette surprises girlfriend with marriage proposal at church

ATHENS — It was a big weekend for Georgia offensive lineman Chris Burnette, and we’re not talking about the offensive barrage the Bulldogs put on Vanderbilt Saturday night.

On Sunday, Burnette surprised his longtime girlfriend, Arielle Haynes, with an on-stage proposal during a service at Athens Church. According to witnesses, tons of Georgia players were in attendance, including quarterback Aaron Murray, tailback Todd Gurley and tackle John Theus. They made their presence known with a hardy ovation after Burnette had gone to one knee to propose marriage and Arielle accepted.

Following is a link to video of the proceedings:  http://youtu.be/bynG8Wt3fpU

Good young man. Glad he is on our side and may he have a long prosperous life with that young lady. Pretty fair lineman also. Need more like him.

Reminds me of my proposal to my girlfriend/wife – during a commercial break during a Hogan’s Heroes episode! This one does seem a bit more romantic and classy – best of luck to you both.

Tech bloggers going nuts this morning. One said Greene, Shockley, Stafford, Murray were all academically qualified for Tech but would never go there. Count Burnette in that too. Techies are tiring of the academic excuse.

This is a wonderful example of the fine young men on the UGA football team that do things the right way. Some make mistakes, as we all have, but CB has his head screwed on straight and if a fine example for the younger guys and us older ones as well. Congratulations to this fine young couple!

I am not religious and that whole thing was moving to me anyway. Lots of love shown by Chris. Lots of love shown by the team players who attended. She could have possibly been surprised.

Burnette was dominate in the Vanderbilt game. One of our best linemen. Congratulation to him. Now that’s how you do it right.

Chris is a great guy and the dawgs are in the early stages of what might be a memorable season.
But I really wish they would not involve religion in such a special moment.
These seem like good, caring, loving people.
I have only been on this planet a few weeks, but from what I can tell, religion is something practiced by violent, egotistical and hateful people.
I hope their marriage will be beautiful and untarnished by the interference of false prophets and lies.

Just how old are you because your statement indicated someone no more than about 12 years old. If you are older than 18 and you really want to find out the validate of your statement you need to study all the main religions around the world and you will find that the majority are the exact opposite of what you are indicating. A few of the more radical religions may fit your statement.

For the many who have asked.. I will not make my UGA/Tenn prediction this week until about Wednesday. Last week I predicted the final score would be 45-10 over Vandy. If not for butterfingers Rogers I would have just about hit it.

I am predicting a UGA win I just don’t know by how much yet…..

1972 called and asked for their proposal back. What year is this? Nobody gets engaged in college these days unless they are a Mormon. Better have a pre-nup to protect future NFL income, etc. Epic fail on the horizon.
