What they said after Georgia’s win over Florida Atlantic

“We really challenged our guys to go back to work. There was a lot of patting on the back about how great we did in the second half [at Missouri]. They responded with great practices during the week and came out and played well. The effort was outstanding, and when they had an opportunity to make plays they made them.”

– Offensive coordinator Mike Bobo on Georgia’s school-record 713-yard output vs. Florida Atlantic

“I wish we had taken care of the ball. I don’t like the turnovers, I don’t like a pick-six, I don’t like throwing interceptions in the red zone. Those were negatives, and we’ve got to continue to build and learn that can cost us some games. But I did like the effort and the way we answered in the first half.”

— Bobo on the negatives for the offense

“I was pretty upset about that interception. I felt like I had probably one of my most complete games I’ve had since I’ve been here, and that kind of stunk to finish the game like that.”

– Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray, who completed 14 of 19 passes for a career-high 342 yards and accounted for four touchdowns (two passing, two rushing) but threw an interception in the end zone on his last play of the night with about three minutes left in the third quarter

“I was concerned, yeah. They were legitimately taking that ball and moving it right down the field.”

– Georgia coach Mark Richt on Florida Atlantic’s offense in the first half, when the Owls had 263 yards and touchdown drives of 57 and 87 yards

“We came in at halftime and regrouped and were back playing the kind of defense we are used to in the second half.”

– Nose guard John Jenkins after Georgia held FAU to 55 yards in the second half

“First half, [FAU was] eight out of 12 on third-down conversions. That’s pretty strong. We got them to third down but couldn’t get off the field. Guys like Jarvis can get you off the field — obviously we’ve seen that with him — so I think [not having him] affected us. If Jarvis had played, I think we’d have been more productive when it came to pressuring the passer.”

– Richt on the absence of outside linebacker Jarvis Jones, who didn’t play because of a strained groin muscle

“We came out pretty sharp in the first half, and we really played well against a good SEC team. But the second half was a completely different ballgame.”

– Florida Atlantic quarterback Graham Wilbert, whose team trailed 28-14 at halftime and was outscored 21-0 in the third quarter

It’s great to follow such a talented team. I remember the ‘80 season. The Dawgs weren’t the best team in the country. All they did was win all of their games. One game at a time, baby!!!

Tommy Tuberville told CMR in his first year that you have to run the ball to win in the SEC. Now more than ever,if you can believe that, UGA wants to throw the ball as often as possible(I think BOBO is in love with Murray) and never run enough to get a running back into the flow of the game. Any running back looking at UGA needs to understand even if they are the second coming of Herschel Walker all they can expect is about ten carries a game tops. Oh and by the way defense stop jumping up and down when you make a play against a team that you should dominate. Act like you have been there before.

Game Changer – for the first time is a LONG time Georgia is 3-0. We have put 40+ on every opponent so far. We just set a school record for offense (713) while having posession of the football for less than 30 minutes. We averaged almost 12 yards a play against FAU. We did all this while resting key players and still missing some others suspension and injury. CMR could have played the starters and acted like this game ment something and beat them 80 to nothing but why should he? Georgia is in the best situation thay have been in for years. Auburn Ole Miss and Kentucky look terrible. We still have GSU to crush. Georgia and the coaches can focus on 4 games to win for the SEC. Vandy, Tennessee, SC, and Florida. This team is good enough and has enough talent to beat all four of these teams. They won’t be easy but we certianly are better off than we were last year or the year before. The odds are we may also get some help from others in the SEC and pad our chances. We also have a young team. These guys are going to improve every game. We are also playing the teams in that order. Each team we play will be a little better than the last one until we are bank in Jacksonville. Perfect progression for a young team. Tech looks pretty good but won’t keep us out of Atlanta if they happen to win. Are we ready for bama? No but with luck it could be LSU or Mississippi State instead. We also have a huge class coming in next year to back up this talent we have on the field now. THOSE RUNNING BACKS ARE FRESHMAN!!!! You need to have your eyes checked or start rooting for a different team.
