The Georgia-Vanderbilt football game on Sept. 22 in Sanford Stadium will start at 7:45 p.m. and be nationally televised on ESPN2, the SEC said today.
That will be Georgia’s third consecutive night game, following last week’s at Missouri (which also was televised on ESPN2) and this week’s against Florida Atlantic in Athens (7:30 p.m. Saturday on CSS).
Also today — no surprise here — the SEC named Georgia linebacker Jarvis Jones the league’s Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the victory over Missouri. Jones already had been named the National Defensive Player of the Week by the Walter Camp Football Foundation.

So how exactly does UGA stay put at #7 after a 21 point win, but Florida jumps 7 spots in the polls after a 3 point win??

Very true Mike. I hadn’t looked at it that way, but when teams like Arkansas and Wisconsin fall flat it gives room for the lower ranked teams to move up. Makes sense.

I can’t wait to hear what time the UGA/Tennessee game start time will be! It will be our first game vs. a ranked opponent this season, assuming that UT can handle UF at home this week!

UGA struggled against Buffalo and most of the game against Missouri. Fla St looks unstoppable so far. Im not sure how you can’t see the difference in the two. Its very questionable whether UGA should even be in the top 10.

We do play a few cupcakes, but at least the majority of our season isn’t against cupcakes. Who is up next for the Dogs? FAU, followed by Vandy? How exciting.

GTBob, it’s questionable just who should be in the top ten at this point other than probably Alabama, LSU and USC. Not sure UGA rates, but Florida state has no big wins to point to, and GA does. The difference between them is only 5 points in the polls, and it’s not a big deal yet. Please don’t ask why I can’t see a difference. If there is one, it’s in GA’s favor.

Keys to continued success:
Stay humble.
Put duct tape over James Fanklin’s mouth during Vandy week.
Ditto for Darth Visor.
Ditto for Barbara Dooley before and after stomping UT for the third straight year.
Put more caffeine in Muschamp’s coffee. Make that A LOT MORE caffeine.
Keep Gene Chizik’s O and D schemes intact.
Remind Joker Phillips he’s actually a clown.
Provide Paul Johnson a DVD of successful passing attacks in the 1930s.
Spread rumors that the FBI is investigating intimidation of Tuscaloosa and State of Alabama law enforcement officials by a midget with a bad temper.
Hey, did you hear that Les Miles and his QB are fondling CO-Eds in Baton Rouge bars?
Edit the opening scene of Pulp Fiction where Samuel L goes all biblical before shooting college kids and insert images of every team UGA will ever play.
Oh, and get loud at Sanford Stadium. Players actually like that!

A very popular coach with alot of success stated that a team that trails, and rallys to win are not good teams.. They are great teams. (Vince Dooley) There’s alot of games left, but Georgia showed alot of maturity Saturday night during adversity…. GO DAWGS!

The Dawgs do have a weak schedule, some of which is happenstance (the SEC schedules our league games) and some of which is by choice (FAU). Regardless, against the same schedule as UGA, I would wager that GT loses to Mizzou, Tennessee, USC, and Florida.

looking ok means winning by 3 TD’s than I’ll be happy to play ok old man football all season.

Awesome Job Jarvis!! Gut tells me UT will beat UF. Should be agood game. Dawgs just need to stay focused at one game at a time. Don’t expect to see our 1st string in for too long this Saturday. Yes, Fl Atl. could put some points on the board along with some yardage. I could care less. Rest the injured and get ready for Vandy-UT-SC. Go Dawgs

Missouri is a better team then who Florida St beat but beating bad teams doesn’t make you better then another team who is beating really bad teams. Especially if you aren’t looking that great while beating those bad teams.

GREAT, the fans will be drunker and meaner by 7:45 if they haven’t already passed out. Franklin will not feel much love after what he pulled last year. I won’t be there at my age , can’t drive at night good enough but I will be watching. We have the talent to beat Vanderbilt by two scores if not more but if Georgia has 12 penalties for over 100 yards we could keep Vanderbilt in the game ourselves. Georgia needs to take care of business and let the score reflect what we all feel about Franklin showing his a@@ last year. Grantham needs to keep himself and his defense under control. Don’t make Vanderbilt better than they are.
