COLUMBIA, MO. – Georgia will be without Alec Ogletree and Bacarri Rambo when the Bulldogs play Missouri on Saturday at Faurot Field.
Ogletree and Rambo were not among the 70 UGA players that traveled to Holiday Inn Executive Center on Friday night. Neither Ogletree, the starting “Mo” linebacker, nor Rambo, an All-American free safety, played in last week’s opener against Buffalo either. Georgia has never confirmed that the players are suspended, but Rambo’s high school coach said in March both would be out four games for a second violation of UGA’s marijuana-use policy.
Sanders Commings, a starting cornerback, and starting outside linebacker Chase Vasser are also out for the game. They were suspended for two games due to off-season arrests, which the Bulldogs have acknowledged. Georgia considers Ogletree and Rambo’s situations internal.
So the Bulldogs will be without four defensive starters as they face Missouri’s high-powered spread offense Saturday night at Faurot Field. Cornerback Malcolm Mitchell, who moved from offense to replace Commings at boundary corner, appears to be ready to play Saturday. He missed last week’s game with an ankle injury but was able to practice this week.
Right tackle John Theus (ankle) also made the trip and appears ready to play. He had to leave the Buffalo game in the fourth quarter and was unable to practice until Wednesday. However, his backup Watts Dantzler was unable to travel due to a high-ankle sprain.

It’s definitely not the coaches fault. These players are very aware of the consequences, bu they choose to do it anyways. These are the guys that are supposed to be setting the example. It hurts the team when they put themselves in this position. Richt has to be tired of this, and if he kicked Crowell off the team, then he is not playing around anymore with these guys; no matter how talented they are. They can be replaced.

Missouri should score a LOT more points with these FOUR starters out.
But I don’t think they stop Todd Gurley and Keith Marshall. I think Georgia scores a few more.It would be nice if sitting four inspired Alec Ogletree to finish his eligibility in Athens
But that argument didn’t delay AJ Green’s payday

I get tired of people saying that Richt runs a thug program. Listen up everyone from other teams who like to make fun of UGA’s “problem”. ESPN reported two years ago about the disparity in drug policy among the SEC teams. Vandy and UGA have the STRICTEST policies. For example, at Bama, the first drug offense is handled internally with no suspensions; at Ole Miss, it takes 3 drug test failures before we even know about it. At UGA and Vandy, 1st offense is a 1 game suspension while 2nd offense is 4 games; third offense you are GONE. NOT so at Bama, Auburn, Ole Miss, etc. So, for all you “fans” of other schools, YOU are the problem because YOU dog our players while you don’t even hear about your players from your favorite teams.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$4
Bogus argumnt that gets rehashed every time a player gets into trouble. Failed drug test one time, learn your lesson, failed 2nd drug test shows lack of character by the player. Other players should not want these type players on the team if they think they are better than the rules,

I just don’t understand why UGA handcuffs itself
Iike this. What is Richt trying to prove… that UGA has the moral high ground, even
if (when) we lose? This is football where coaches can readily invoke corporeal punishment by
running the kids to death if they screw up. Why so anxious to catch these kids and suspend them
and cost us games… ?
Spurrier and Sabin must think we are idiots for essentially forfeiting SEC games to show our moral superiority.

Suspensions or no suspensions, Missouri is starting a walk on and a true freshman on the O-line. Jarvis Jones and Big John Jenkins will have a field day. Can’t throw the ball lying on your back. Franklin better pray he makes it to the half, much less has a chance to secure a win. Hope he has good health insurance. Who’s their back up QB?
Missouri thinks their glorified 70,000 seat high school stadium is going to be intimidating? Granted, it’s larger than the “joke by Coke” that the North Ave. Trade School calls home, but it’s not very threatening when you’ve played in Neyland or even in the other Columbia.
Missouri’s trendy offense gets grounded and Dawgs win by 3 TD’s.

Character and discipline are great, but how silly is it that we expect one team to play with a more strict set of rule? Shouldn’t the SEC have the same rules for all teams in the conference, GA suspends their players after the first infraction, where others do not until the third infraction. By the third time at UGA, the player is kicked off of the team. I am not saying that the players should not be punished, I am just saying that all the teams should have to play by the same rules.

I honestly don’t know whether the Dawgs will win or lose this game. Certainly, we will be at less than full strength. But my goodness people, why are you elevating Mizzou to such mythic standards. Franklin is good but he’s not All-World. And they DO have to play defense, too. Like I said, I don’t know how we’ll do tomorrow, but let’s not just give up 24 hours before kickoff! The team and coaching staff has known about this all summer so they should be prepared to play without those four. Let’s hope so — and even if the Dawgs do lose, the season IS STIL NOT OVER!!!

That was a good read. However, at the end of the day, it matters not. The players know the rules. They know the higher standard. If they are going to dance, the fiddler must be paid. It’s the rules. Doesn’t matter of it’s team, athletic dept, conference or NCAA. Seems like it would make recruiting more difficult than affecting after they signed as much as it has

I’m with Texas Dawg… we could lose tomorrow and I wouldn’t be shocked. But we also might shut some of the Georgia haters and people blowing smoke up Missouri’s butts. This team was so good last season that they played North Carolina in their bowl game. Their quarterback is good, but he was going up against a lot of average to under-average defenses in the Big 12. He’s not Tebow and Missouri is good, but far from great. On top of that, their offensive line has been some ravaged with injuries that they have hardly had time to practice with the same combination of players until recently.

All I keep hearing is how good they are and their QB this and there spread offense and blah blah blah. True fans speak up…fake fans shut up after we win. Gonna be tough but we’ll win. Got to love those fans who will make excuses for players of their team. If a college professor comes in and tells everyone; On Monday we are going give you a test and you need to score a passing grade in order to play in the upcoming football game. Then on Monday a star athlete shows up, has not studied and prepared themselves for the test and decided that staying out all weekend and having a party was more important, and he fails the test. The school says okay, you did not understand these test are required to be eligible, therefore we are going to test you at any time to make sure you are studying and if you fail any of those test You will not play for a certain number of games. The dumb selfish athlete thinks they are bluffing that they need him and fails a test he knew was coming. Now THAT is just Stupid and SELFISH.
Stop making excuses about the UGA policy and what others do, the point is they KNEW their actions would cause them to miss game and they knew they were going to get tested and STILL failed.
These two knuckleheads put themselves before their team and they both see money and the NFL and this time next year will not even be part of the UGA program and they know it, they are just too dumb to realize their actions now will more than likely cause their draft stock to drop.

UGA has known, including the players, that these guys would not be playing and for how many games. So they are prepared to play without the. Obviously the guys taking their spots are not as good and it hurts depth, etc. Defense is the strength of the team so this hurts. Is the game still winnable? Absolutely. Will it be difficult? Most likely playing on the road but it can be done. Bt scoring points, getting turnovers and winning the time of possession battle. And UGA still has a STRONG DL and Jarvis Jones and Malcolm Mitchell. Big play guys. If UGA had all the starters on D, Missouri would have little chance of hanging but now they do and UGA has to rise up, run the clock and make some big plays. AND PUT A RUSH ON THAT QB FROM BOTH SIDES AND THE MIDDLE.
WE CAN DO THIS. WE MUST DO THIS. WE WILL DO THIS. SPEED AND SKILL WILL BEAT THEIR SCHEME…EVEN WITHOUT 4 STARTERS ON DEFENSE AND BEING ON THE ROAD. THIS GAME IS HUGE FOR THE UGA PLAYERS AND THE UGA PLAYERS ARE BETTER THAN MISSOURI’S AND THEY ARE FOCUED AND MOTIVATED AND UGA HAS GREAT LEADERS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE BALL. NOT TO MENTION A RUNNING GAME WE HAVENT HAD SINCE MORENO WAS ON THE FIELD….AS LONG AS IT DONT COME DOWN TO THE KICKING GAME,
YOU ROOT FOR UGA RIGHT? THEN ROOT FOR THEMAND STOP BEING SCARED LITTLE GIRLS. WE NEED THE POSITIVE ENERGY. WE NEED TO ALL BELIEVE AND SUPPORT.
THIS IS THE SEASON. THE SEASON IS NOW! GO DAWGS! WIN SATURDAY NIGHT! THAT WILL PUT SOME FEAR IN THE REST OF THE SEC WINNING WITH 40%+ OF OUR STARTING DEFENSE NOT PLAYING! LETS DO THIS. LETS WIN. AND LETS WIN BIG! WE DONT GIVE UP TD’S EASILY…..TIME TO WELCOME MISSOURI TO THE SEC BULLDOG STYLE. RICHT COMES THROUGH IN GAMES LIKETHIS AND I BELEIVE GRANTHAM WILL BE UP TO THE TASK TOO!
