Alec Ogletree, Bacarri Rambo don’t make trip to Missouri
COLUMBIA, MO. – Georgia will be without Alec Ogletree and Bacarri Rambo when the Bulldogs play Missouri on Saturday at Faurot Field.
Ogletree and Rambo were not among the 70 UGA players that traveled to Holiday Inn Executive Center on Friday night. Neither Ogletree, the starting “Mo” linebacker, nor Rambo, an All-American free safety, played in last week’s opener against Buffalo either. Georgia has never confirmed that the players are suspended, but Rambo’s high school coach said in March both would be out four games for a second violation of UGA’s marijuana-use policy.
Sanders Commings, a starting cornerback, and starting outside linebacker Chase Vasser are also out for the game. They were suspended for two games due to off-season arrests, which the Bulldogs have acknowledged. Georgia considers Ogletree and Rambo’s situations internal.
So the Bulldogs will be without four defensive starters as they face Missouri’s high-powered spread offense Saturday night at Faurot Field. Cornerback Malcolm Mitchell, who moved from offense to replace Commings at boundary corner, appears to be ready to play Saturday. He missed last week’s game with an ankle injury but was able to practice this week.
Right tackle John Theus (ankle) also made the trip and appears ready to play. He had to leave the Buffalo game in the fourth quarter and was unable to practice until Wednesday. However, his backup Watts Dantzler was unable to travel due to a high-ankle sprain.

You guys saying Georgia will lose do realize that Missouri could be without two of their starting offensive linemen for this game. Ruth is definitely out and Meiners is questionable, but I don’t think he’s going to play based on what I have read. They also lost a top backup in Chapell. So, Georgia could lose but their defensive line should get serious push against a weakened offensive line for the Tigers.

If Commings did what he said, there is no way he should be playing against Missouri. However, I guess that is what the appeal was for. Maybe it wasn’t as bad as initially reported.

Seriously. Have most of you been under a rock? This is not all new. It has been said for MONTHS that Rambo & Ogletree were out for at least two games. I’m pretty sure even reported here (a likely possibility since the media likes to beat these stories to death). It’s a bonus that Mitchell is healthy enough to play and that Commings is back.

As long as Coach Bobo’s calling the plays, we can’t assume a victory, UNLESS he’s finally learned not to be so predictable in certain game situations, and unless he’s learned that it takes 4 quarters of aggressive offense to beat a good team………… But, I fear that we’ll get a 10-14 point lead and go into our Bobo “play not to lose” offensive mindlessness….. We ha this holy coach, who doesn’t have the brains to do what other coaches do. Both players are suspended for weed, which normally only carries a one game suspension. But as usual, CMR has to gO above and beyond. This would never happen at Sc, Ala or any other SEC PROGRAM

This isn’t just UGA, every college deals with this sort of stuff now. It will continue until players are tested and disciplined at the high school level. If a kid’s a problem there, then they don’t get well recruited.

I don’t see a reason to have confidence. Dawgs have lost to Mich State, Colorado, Boise, and Ok St. in away games. Bill King nailed it a couple of weeks ago…we have NO KILLER INSTINCT. Our team was looking at the clock with 6 mins left in the first half against Buffalo. They were done playing and wanted the half to end. In the meantime….mighty Buffalo scored TWICE. They get a lead, and then stop playing football only to let the other team back in the game. I’m fed up…and expect it to continue tomorrow night.

Smart???, you got to be kidding. Do You really believe that the story would have gone away had the fail drug test been announced and the suspensions confirmed back int the spring? Or would the affected player, and thier replacement been even MORE asked about it. If the goal is to isolate the players, and limit the information, this was as good as it could have been.
Think about it….has anybody asked Richt one time this week about the actual football part of this? the negative affects of this? or who was under pressure as replacments them? Or how this affected those (suspended) players and team going forward?
Or has it all been about the ” information policy”? Which would you prefer he talked about?

Chip is doing the best he can, CC. I am thankful for the info. On the game, it is funny to watch people get mad arguing about what the score will be before the game starts! It will be a good opportunity for some of the younger guys to step up. BTW, I thought Swann made some nice plays vs Buff.

This is a strange story to say the least. I think Richt said the other day, that if a player made the trip, then he would play.
My take on this, but I could be wrong is that McGarity left it up to Richt to lift the suspensions. Richt might have told or hinted to Commings that he will play, but he wasn’t supposed to spill the beans. McGarity stepped in and said that his suspension was still in place because Richt hasn’t formerly lifted the suspension. I think that he will play, but he won’t start.
Nothing to base this on, just an assumption.

I get tired of people saying that Richt runs a thug program. Listen up everyone from other teams who like to make fun of UGA’s “problem”. ESPN reported two years ago about the disparity in drug policy among the SEC teams. Vandy and UGA have the STRICTEST policies. For example, at Bama, the first drug offense is handled internally with no suspensions; at Ole Miss, it takes 3 drug test failures before we even know about it. At UGA and Vandy, 1st offense is a 1 game suspension while 2nd offense is 4 games; third offense you are GONE. NOT so at Bama, Auburn, Ole Miss, etc. So, for all you “fans” of other schools, YOU are the problem because YOU dog our players while you don’t even hear about your players from your favorite teams.
