COLUMBIA, MO. – Georgia will be without Alec Ogletree and Bacarri Rambo when the Bulldogs play Missouri on Saturday at Faurot Field.
Ogletree and Rambo were not among the 70 UGA players that traveled to Holiday Inn Executive Center on Friday night. Neither Ogletree, the starting “Mo” linebacker, nor Rambo, an All-American free safety, played in last week’s opener against Buffalo either. Georgia has never confirmed that the players are suspended, but Rambo’s high school coach said in March both would be out four games for a second violation of UGA’s marijuana-use policy.
Sanders Commings, a starting cornerback, and starting outside linebacker Chase Vasser are also out for the game. They were suspended for two games due to off-season arrests, which the Bulldogs have acknowledged. Georgia considers Ogletree and Rambo’s situations internal.
So the Bulldogs will be without four defensive starters as they face Missouri’s high-powered spread offense Saturday night at Faurot Field. Cornerback Malcolm Mitchell, who moved from offense to replace Commings at boundary corner, appears to be ready to play Saturday. He missed last week’s game with an ankle injury but was able to practice this week.
Right tackle John Theus (ankle) also made the trip and appears ready to play. He had to leave the Buffalo game in the fourth quarter and was unable to practice until Wednesday. However, his backup Watts Dantzler was unable to travel due to a high-ankle sprain.

Football player should not use killer weed to self-medicate for pain. The coaches and trainers will eagerly supply safe and effective opiates and NSAIDS.

Good, hope the flea bags come home with their tails between their legs with a good old fashioned butt kicking. The flea bags need to be brought down and I hope they get it this weekend.

Why was this not announced previously? What does Richt think he is gaining? Nick Saban doesn’t do this kind of thing.

The Dawgs have been preparing for this all along… they knew that the 4 would be out so what’s the issue? I just hope that the guys stepping in will STEP UP.
@ARdawg… You’re right, there will still be 11 Dawgs on the field and that should be enough to get the job done.

Gosh golly, I really hope Georgia loses tomorrow!!
It will make my whole week so much better. Georgia has the easiest schedule in the SEC in the past 20 years. Why do they ALWAYS get the breaks??? They should have to play LSU or Alabama. It’s not fair. If they lose, that will be great, but if not it will be because Missouri is yet another cupcake for Russ to snack on… Go Tigers hehe

I hope Jarvis took these boys out back and took care of them. He stands for what the word team is all about he could have left and stayed for a special season and then these guys put that at risk. All 4 should be sick about this, I don’t want to hear any crap about being young and making mistakes they should take full advantage of their opportunities and play not just for themselves but for their team.

Second year in a row Rambo has been suspended in opening game thus fuqeing his teammates over as well as all dog supporters that donate generously to the program.
You would think that after the Boise game last year, he would care more for his team and fans.
Disgusted.

If it is going to take a miracle for us to win, then we do not deserve to be in the SEC East conversation. These are big players that are out, however great teams overcome adversity. Missouri is unranked and barely made noise in the Big 12 apart from the Maclin, Daniel days. I think we can actually win, maybe even without a miracle.

I guess McGarity is trying to publicize the drug problems. This suspense and drama keeps it in the headlines each and every week. I wonder if they have hired a PR firm for advice on how to make the most of the drug publicity?

Georgia is going to lose this game…flat out. The contrast between Georgia and Alabama last weekend was instructive. Georgia was flat-footed and lacked poise against a third world team. Alabama looked in mid season form against a much tougher opponent with the kind of dicipline and poise one expects from a Saban coached team. Georgia is close or right there with Alabama talent wise but isn’t in the same league at the head coach and offensive coach level.

I understand the need to have rules and set guidelines but when were talking about college kids, they smoke weed, they have fun… The only difference is that they are put under the spotlight and given random drug tests. A 1 game suspension is enough punishment because not only only are you punishing them but the entire team. Off field actions could have been taken against the boys not a 4 game suspension….. UGA still pulls out the win in late 4th quarter 31-28

If we want to be considered a national contender, you go out and win regardless of the issue.
@JD… You are exactly right! Overcoming adversity will get you respect. I would love to see us go out and slaughter these dudes and prove the amount of talent we really have. If we want to be considered in the talks with Bama and LSU, we need to overcome adversity just like they do and win the important games.

Georgia always plays creampuffls. It’s not fair that they never play anybody. I will watch the whole game in hopes that I see them lose. If they win, it will be because the refs gave them the game, which has been known to happen before. I will also cry and run my mouth on every major blog about how Georgia should not have won.

Uh, really? Missouri? You people are actually worried? Their offensive line is cobbled together and their defensive front is small. Buffalo was played conservatively. You really think our coaches haven’t been preparing for this game the past few months? UGA wins by two TDs. And if for some reason we find a way to lose this one, then the haters above are correct – we certainly don’t deserve being in the top 25 let alone the top 10.

What a bunch of dumbasses…they knew the punishment for thier actions before they committed them…their getting exactly what they deserve. Alabama has NEVER punished thier players for getting in trouble. Thier local police have a standing order to turn the players over the their coaches after they are picked up,and the players are Never punished except to run laps during practice….I’ll take Richts punishment over Sabans lack of punishment anyday.

Nice to possibly see Commings back.
I’ve been saying all along – yes, it hurts to lose these guys, but we’re actually fortunate in that they (players and coaches) have known for a while, even if the public hasn’t. Replacement kids that might normally have been thrown into the fire have at least gotten some time to get reps and be coached up.
It could be worse. This bomb could have been a surprise, which I have a feeling it wasn’t to anyone inside the program.

I think we will the dawgs will be ok, I know football, the offence can put enough points on the board to keep us in the game. We good for 30 points. The defense can hold them to 17. Watch what I tell you, plus if Murray and king hook up its over, post route all nite.

Richt can not instill discipline in his players and it has been a problem for a long time. Suspensions to start every season. Remember they led the SEC in penalties for several years, a sign of lack of discipline.
I fully expect Missouri’s offense to light up Ga’s defense. Ga may have a chance if Murray does not implode. I am eagerly looking forward to another lackluster, under-performing Richt coached football team – no, not really.
