Quotes from both sides after Georgia-Buffalo game

“I was a little too amped up. When I threw it, I was, like, ‘Oh, this is way too far, but it’d be nice if he catches up.’”

— Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray on his long first-quarter pass that overshot a wide-open Tavarres King in the end zone

“I think it was pretty good. But as far as assignments and stuff, I have to get better. There are a lot of little things I have to improve on. Work on the little things, and you’ll have an even bigger game.”

— UGA freshman tailback Todd Gurley after scoring three touchdowns in his college debut

“Unbelievable day. The [100-yard] kickoff return, the runs — it was definitely exciting to see him out there.”

— Murray on Gurley’s performance

“To be able to come up with a 94-yard drive against one of the best defenses Georgia has had in awhile gives us some great confidence that we can move the ball when we put our minds, heart and soul into it. I was also proud that we were able to score late in the game when we let things get away from us. We are a good football team, and at times we saw that today.”

— Buffalo coach Jeff Quinn

“We put the most points we ever have against an SEC team.”

— Quinn, after Buffalo dropped to 0-4 all-time against current SEC members

“We won, but we can’t play like that next week in that hostile environment [at Missouri]. I think we’ll use this week to get better for Missouri.”

— Georgia’s Damian Swann, who started at cornerback

“It was a great experience. Walking out there in front of so many fans and making a good connection on both punts I had, I couldn’t have asked for a better day.”

— UGA freshman Collin Barber, who averaged 51 yards per punt in his college debut

“I didn’t get all of the ball. I could tell right away. That was a bummer. But with kicking, you’ve got to forget about each kick, whether you make it or miss it. And I went back and made the next one.”

— UGA freshman Marshall Morgan, who was wide right on his first-field goal attempt (a 45-yarder) before making a 35-yarder

“We thought we had a chance to win, and for a while we did.”

— Buffalo running back Branden Oliver, who had 111 yards rushing

“It might have been the most humid day in the history of Athens, Ga. It was smoking hot in pregame warmup and the whole game. I think that [was] a little bit of a factor in the game for both teams, really.”

— Georgia coach Mark Richt

“We had a lot of young guys out there that were learning [in their] first-time and second-time experience. I think once they get it down pat, we’ll be well off, especially with the [suspended] veterans coming back.”

— Georgia linebacker Jarvis Jones on the defense

Maryland 7 William Mary 6! See what happens when you think you coach is not good enough! Looks like Maryland is in for a couple of tough seasons until they find their next “great head coach”

The team isn’t worried. They know they must get a lot better for SEC competition. It’s well known that all college teams have the most improvement between weeks 1 and 2. This is especially true for UGA in recent years. Win or lose next week, the dawgs will play closer to their potential.

Lets face it bulldogs fans… We are in trouble!.. CMR and his staff needs to go!!…That game yesterday was horrible!!! CMR doesn’t believe in playing the best “players” on the team…. He wants the best “people” playing… Connor Norman???? The best backup free safety we have?!!????? Really????? UGA needs to start over again with a different approach … 12 years has been long enough time to put your mark down in history … Below 500 against Florida alone should be the reason CMR and the water girl should be let go!

We were missing our best inside linebacker, a starting outside linebacker, our all American safety, and our 2nd and 3rd best corners. When we have all of them on the field – ill make my judgement.

Let’s wait for the season to play out a little before we call for our head coaches HEAD!! We played a bad game against a bad team, but we won, and that happens sometimes, let’s lose to MIZZ or someone else first, then call for his head!

Gurley will start and he is a stud, Marshall will run for 100+, the defense will return to form, and the dawgs roll by at least 30 this week. All of the trolls posing as uga fans are rediculous on these blogs.

The Dawgs will be just fine. We played a lot of young guys and they made mistakes. Bobo for some strange reason wanted to throw the low percentage long ball which got us behind the chains and killed the running game momentum. Gates looked a little slow and got beat too often. Gurley missed a couple of blocks. We need Theus back…he played well. Gillard did not have his best game. Jordan Jenkins is really quick and gave a good effort but seemed to be a little out of position. I think CMR knew we coud win but did not coach to deliver a blow-out. He wanted to play alot of guys and get a feel for the young guys under game conditions. At least I like to think he didn’t coach that way on purpose.

I think we go 9-3. Had hoped for better but after Saturday’s game I’m afraid we are another typical Richt team …..upper tier of mediocre. MO is going to beat us and I’m not sure what will happen when we play TN and Vandy. I think we have a chance to do well, but we also have a chance to be crappy! Right now, it looks more crappy than good.

BTW, what in the world is “old man football”?

MO is going to find out exactly what old man football is about. We will be ready to play. They will have a tough time stopping this old man football. SEC football is alot different than what they are used to seeing. The dogs know what this game means in the SEC East and they will turn it up.
