ATHENS – Linebacker Christian Robinson’s enthusiastic account of a play in a recent practice probably will heighten Georgia fans’ anticipation of freshman tailback Keith Marshall’s debut Saturday.

“Keith put a move on somebody the other day that I hadn’t seen in a while,” Robinson said Tuesday. “He shook two people, and they both fell down. That’s pretty special to me because I haven’t seen somebody just blatantly fall down because someone did a move on them.

“Literally, he was untouched. He was running in the middle of the field and made two guys fall and then outran somebody to the pylon. That type of talent, I haven’t seen that in a while. … I’d like to see that in a real game. I think that’d get people excited.”

Robinson said the last Georgia player with “that type of juking ability” was probably wide receiver A.J. Green.

Robinson had high praise for Georgia’s entire tailback group, which also includes redshirt sophomore Ken Malcome (the expected opening-game starter), freshman Todd Gurley and senior Richard Samuel (who also plays fullback).

“We’ve got a lot of good running backs,” Robinson said. “They’re all different. They all have their unique running style.”

A senior, Robinson said he has been impressed with what he has seen from the Bulldogs’ overall 2012 recruiting class.

“This freshman class is very solid,” Robinson said. “… I think this group is way farther ahead than a lot of groups in the recent past.”

@ DawgNation…..UGA success is history, nothing recent. What’s happening currently is what’s important…….gee it would be nice if Abe Lincoln could be President again. S. Carolina has beaten UGA two years in a row, and probably going to be three come October. Give credit where it’s due, not to UGA which currently is a middle of the road SEC team…..as is S. Carolina.
If you want to talk smack and brag, wait til end of season.

HABDAWG:

Agree that IC was injury prone, but don’t forget that Samuel and Malcome have been just as injury prone. Hopefully, we have at least 2 of our 4 available at all times and more importantly in the big games.

I think that Robinson’s comments about Marshall are another reason not to ASSUME that the best player is the guy that had the best yards per carry average in 3 scrimmages. We don’t get to see what the holes looked like for each back or if they were against the 3 team defense. Also, the guy who is ultimately the best back may not be the one that impresses the most in the first three weeks of practice. Some guys take a little longer to get up to speed.

Sounds like Malcome is going to start, but that all four will get a chance against a lesser opponent this week. Lets see what happens in an actual game and then against a quality opponent in MO before we start saying that one of these guys has really seperated.

The “DawgNation” at 7:08 was not me. I have refrained from comment the past few weeks as the BS from outside fans has been way over the top……………again. “DawgNation” of 7:08 thanks for not being an a$$ with your comment and posting on an intelligent level. I agree with sportzfan that for the past 5 years we really have not had that much to beat our chest about but history is a nice remembrance of what will be again.

I cannot believe that there are actually South Carolina fans are here – and elsewhere – talking smack. You have 4 bowl wins in school history. We have 26, with 4 just in the past 5 seasons.

UGa has lost the last 2 bowl games. I see we have another soon to be UGa Engineer on the blog.

Why does it seem so many “outsiders” have flooded the UGA sites? Few of them will claim a school for themselves and just come to disrupt. You can’t seem to help yourself but you don’t hide or lie about being a Tech fan which I respect. Most of these other bums are here just to be confrontational. What happened to respecting someone else’s backyard???

Obviously, Robinson has never seen the replay of Trent Richardson juking the Ole Miss safety off his feet and out of his shoes last year…..and that was in a REAL game. But I am sure Marshall is going to be a fine back…..but let him play a game before anointing him as the next great RB for Georgia. And the guy who earlier compared Marshall to Ealey, King, Crowell…and such….come on man. Night and day difference between Marshall and those guys…..maybe not much difference in skill…..but a lot of difference in character. Good difference.

I apologize for mimicking another posters user name, that was not my intent. I generally read, not remark on posts, but some of the South Carolina fans are either extremely young or have very short memory spans. But sorry about that.

I dropped my fried twinkie, I have followed your posts on this and several other threads over the last month or so. Your pseudo intellectual viewpoint is not original, refreshing, nor a credit to your own team. You have claimed not to be a troll, but somehow you manage to read and remark on nearly every positive Georgia thread imaginable. You obviously feel that you have about as much vested interest in the Georgia Bulldogs as most of us do, albeit from a very negative perspective. I cannot speak for any other Dawg fans, but I am far beyond caring whatever post appears next to your posting ID anymore, as it is all a rehash of the exact same snide message.

As for the “Yeah, but what have you done for me lately?” viewpoint of other individuals, I am not a Mark Richt apologist… because he does not need one. His winning percentage is the highest of any Georgia coach since 1922, and he has done considerably better through 10 seasons then Vince Dooley had at the same point. Vince had not won a bowl game since 1973 when we beat Notre Dame in 1980. Spurrier’s winning percentage at USC East is roughly equivalent to Joe Morrison’s winning percentage from the 1980’s over a comparable period of time, and far from spectacular. I firmly stand by my comments; one glance at your schedule tells me that you have absolutely zero chance of winning the SEC East this season. Therefore, I believe that you are completely irrelevant. And, according to the opinions that I am hearing, isn’t the only thing that matters the here and now?

Unless you were watching a different game last year I don’t see where South Carolina beat Georgia.Even Spurrier couldn’t believe South Carolina out scored Georgia in that game. Georgia beat themselves. The defense only gave up 22 points, if I remember right. The players at South Carolina will remember the over 400 yards that Georgia had, Georgia will not make the same mistakes this year. Your tackle ran a play back for a touchdown and Georgia missed an easy field goal. No, if South Carolina wins this year it will be because they out played Georgia.

7576Dawg…The whole “they didn’t beat us we beat ourselves” arguement is old. Every team wins a game they probably shouldn’t, and lose a game they probably shouldn’t. So what. That was last year. Whatever you feel about the game doesn’t change the record books.

Roll Tide Roll – Another fine Tuscaloosa education, I see.

Nick Saban’s record against winning teams: 69-47, or 59%.

Mark Richt’s record against winning teams: 54-35, or 61%.

I will certainly get Saban the edge when it comes to winning national championships, but it is far too big of a subjective process right now to determine absolute level of coaching skill, as few people argue, in retrospect, that Georgia was the best team in the country at the end of the season (with the obvious exception of LSU fans). Either way, their records against the teams that matter are remarkably similar. Just an FYI.

Keith Marshall is going to want to make a statement Sat. Many teams seem to be very worried about UGA making a prolonged run into the SEC this year. It’s eating some of them up real bad. They are jealous of us once again and can’t do anything but cry. Probably sell a lot of Midol outside the state of Georgia this year, lol…
