About Buffalo

Record: 3-9 (2-6 MAC) last season

Last time played: This is the first game between Georgia and Buffalo.

Offense: Running back Branden Oliver, a 5-foot-8, 202-pound junior, is the centerpiece of Buffalo’s  offense. He ran for a school-record 1,395 yards last season and was named first-team All-Mid-American Conference. Junior Alex Zordich won the starting quarterback job this month; he was a backup last season after starting four games as a freshman in 2010. The top receiver is junior Alex Neutz, who had 641 receiving yards last season despite missing the final three games with an injury. Sophomore receiver Cordero Dixon, from North Gwinnett, is one of five Georgians on the Buffalo roster, two of whom start.

Defense: Junior linebacker Khalil Mack, a first-team All-MAC selection last year, is suspended from Saturday’s game after a reported altercation with a teammate. Sophomore linebacker Lee Skinner made 80 tackles last season. Senior defensive end Steven Means has 12 career sacks. Starting cornerback Najja Johnson, a junior, is a Marietta High graduate.

Special teams: Sophomore kicker Patrick Clarke was 6-for-6 on field goals, including three from 40-plus yards, after winning the placekicking job for the final three games last season.

What you should know: Buffalo is 0-3 against current members of the SEC, losing to Auburn in 2006, Missouri (then in the Big 12) in 2008 and Tennessee last season, all on the road. Georgia is a 37 1/2-point favorite.

Coach: Jeff Quinn is 5-19 in two seasons as the Bulls’ coach. A 27-year veteran of college coaching, he was offensive coordinator and offensive line coach at Cincinnati before going to Buffalo.

Hope alot of UGA backups play. It is too bad Mason is in maybe redshirt status. He could have started this game and let Mmurray come in in the last quarter to pad his stats. Should be an interesting game, maybe like the Hawaii game. Good turn up for Missiour if we don’t let it go to our heads and Missiour kicks our butts. The main thing is I hope no one gets hurt on either side. Go Dawgs

I don’t think enough credit is given to teams like Buffalo for playing games like this. I’m not trying to be snarky or condescending. I’m dead serious. For these players to travel nearly 1,000 miles to play a top 10 team in front of 90,000 hostile fans takes major balls. I know they’re program is doing it for the money but the players that will be strapping it on won’t see a penny of that money. They’re just doing it because they love football and they should be commended.

Thanks.

Jim,
probably get to see LeMay and most of the RBs and Linemen (both sides) Probably going to be very vanilla play calling. Hope to see a lot of the Running game to eat the clock. Don’t want to show much to Missouri…

I was surprised when reading interviews from our guys about their favorite places to play. Most of them said the loudest and most hostile venues! It has to be cool listening to the roar down on the field. I would bet the Buffalo players are thrilled to play in Athens. I would hate to line up across from any good SEC defense, though, and especially ours.

Boy that awesome defense better come to play!

Keep feasting on opponents like this while other schools who play in high profile games steal the best players out of your back yard.

“I will hunt you down and troll the s*** out of you loser!”

This is disturbing. How does trolling work when you find someone? Is this a threat or some sexual innuendo?

Is this how you act when you have your preseason expectations dashed year after year?

They don’t get paid in credit… They get cold, hard cash for this butt-whipping, lol.

Florida Atlantic, Western Kentucky, and Western Carolina! LMAO @ “Roll Tide” and his blatant ignoring of the charge! I guess you have nothing to say when make like you know it’s the truth.
When a “Roll Tide” says, “hey, come here. i want you to meet my wife and my sister”, there’s only one girl there!

The players have no say-so. Actually they’re just doing it because the hypocritical NCAA allows UGA–and every other major-conference team–to literally buy victories by paying weak sisters (Buffalo, Fla Atlantic, Ga Southern, Coastal Carolina, New Mexico St, Louisiana-Lafayette, Idaho St, Tenn Tech, Central Mich, Western Carolina, Troy, etc.) a million bucks to come in and bend over. And this cowardly practice will continue unless/until strength of schedule is given considerably more weight in the rankings.

Four things I know for sure. Tech will win a shocker, the Bulls will cover, the dog nation will be loud and proud (till November) and leave 70 tons of trash behind for someone else to clean up on Sunday, and DawginLex will be walking Lexington Avenue the night before this and all home games.
