Former UGA defensive back Chris Sanders dismissed at GMC

Former Georgia defensive back Chris Sanders has been dismissed from Georgia Military College, which will permanently block his passage back to Athens.

Sanders

Sanders

Sanders, a cornerback from Tucker, had expressed his desire to return to play for the Bulldogs next season. He was dismissed from Georgia along with two other players in late January for his involvement in an alleged theft from a teammate.

Bert Williams, head coach of GMC’s junior college football program in Milledegville, confirmed via text message Wednesday that he had dismissed Sanders from the program. Other than a violating of team rules, Williams would say only they that Sanders was kicked off for a “continuation of old ways.”

“Extremely sad,” Williams said.

Sanders came to Georgia with great promise. A two-way star who earned all-state honors at Tucker High, Sanders played in three games for the Bulldogs as a true freshman before a shoulder injury sidelined him for the season. He was expected to compete for playing time this coming season. Sanders was Georgia’s first commitment of the 2011 recruiting class.

Obviously, I’m not a dawg fan, but I’m saddened by these players (uga or any other team) that don’t seem to appreciate the chance that their talents have afforded them. HOW do they just blow such a shot at playing football in front of thousands of people? It’s a sad testimony and I pray that things will take a turn for the better asap…tired of these stories…regardless of their team affiliation.

Georgia runs a hooligan program just like the Miami of old. At least Miami won multiple National Chamipionships. The best UGA can do is winning a division handed to it by the SEC schedule makers.

Can you say blackball? If you get kicked out of Georgia, then dismissed from junior college for disciplinary reasons I would imagine the only other team willing to take you is the State Penn team- (Penitentiary) soon.

I think the only hope for some of these kids would be if there was a one time round trip in a 30-year time machine. If they could go forward 30-years and see what their life if going to be like, then they may wake up and smell the coffee and seize the opportunity. But the fact of the matter is, it ain’t never gonna happen. So they’ll grow up and become a burned out superstar that becomes the legend of the local recreation league telling anyone that will listen, ” I was on track to be the next Herschel, or Champ Bailey or Dominique Wilkins or whoever.” But nobody’s gonna care, except their cell mate or crack head buddy or next door neighbor in the trailer park. All he’s gonna say is, “Yeah, yeah, yeah, hey you gonna pass that pipe this way or what?”

Sad but so many times true.

As you can see people, it doesn’t matter where some kids land at they are just bad apples no matter where they go. CMR and the staff saw the potential in the kid to be a good ball player but sometimes you can’t know if a kid is going to be like this if he has not gotten into trouble in high school. If you’re a thief that’s what you are no matter where you go UGA or anywhere. The comments of the coach tells you that he must have stolen something from a team mate or someone else. Let’s don’t blame the coaches. Let’s put the blame where it lies with the thief and whoever raised the thief.

Tampa, Did you do any research on all the public school athletes that are excellent students that received a great education and are leaders on any team? Or, did you research your findings with only one player from one school in one school system? If so that was not a very good example of statistics. Try 1000 athletes from public and 1000 athletes from private schools, compare them in academics, character, ability and attitude…then you might have something to discuss…

While I respect Coach Richt, I thnk it’s hilarious that all these “front line players” have brought only a handful of SEC championships. No national championships. I lost more respect for the school for running away from the Louisville game and got 3 cupcake schools to play ‘em. has anybody heard whether the Dawgs will dress in their jet suits this year. They are so sexy and watching them pile on players already down gives me gushy feeling all over. The schedule gives the Dawgs a 10 win season this year. But hey better watch out in Mizzou. maybe the jet suits will give them extra incentive to win in this hostile environ.

UGA football team has 94% Special Admissions, Tech has 9%.

As a Tech Alum, I don’t like the 9%, and as a UGA fan I HATE that 94%. Can you imagine that? The term “Student-Athlete” is a joke. But before you start crowing Tech faithful, it’s hard to claim academic integrity when one in ten players are hired guns. And that’s what they are, these kids who can’t get into a particular school without the special treatment.

Also, your info on SAT scores and GPAs is deeply flawed, re-check please…

Derrick Dooley might as well hook up the U HAUL and leave. From grades of his players to just about anything you can think of is happening in Knoxvulle. Look at the latest.

University of Tennessee quarterback Tyler Bray has been accused of throwing beer bottles and golf balls at cars from his apartment balcony.

Bray, 20, has offered to pay for the damages he inflicted to one of the cars, so he will not be charged in that incident, police told the Knoxville News-Sentinel.

Joey

01HAWK, apparently Bray made a good choice going to UT, as did his fav target Da’Rick, who got arrested for assault, resisting arrest, evading arrest, only to have the charges dropped later.

Those two wouldn’t be treated so favorably by the Athens PD as they have with the Knoxville PD.

I can remeber a time where tech went after these same dummies that UGA went after. Go check the roster when Chan Gailey was the coach. During that time TECH had some of the best talent in school history, but Tech did have some problem childs, that also could be said for the George O’leary time as head coach. Have Uga made some mistake on players yes, i wouldn’t call them dummies because if you ever played football before, learning all those plays and formations take a little intelligence. I will say this, when UGA was trying to recruit more smarter players, that closed off recruiting to certain areas, people called UGA racist for not recruiting inner city kids. Those inner city kids went to other schools(Tennesse, Florida, Auburn, Florida State) and they all won championships. UGA is damned if we do recruit those palyers and damned if we don’t recruit those players. Another note, UGA has one of the highest entry level requirements in the SEC( only behind Vanderbilt, and Florida) thats why some players we recruit end up at South Carolina, Tennesse and others. The NCAA has a minimuim requirements and some schools in the SEC elect to have their requirements above the NCAA requirements Uga is one of three schools in the SEC That does that. I must say that the AJC (and other news sources) seem to report negative stuff more than positive stuff. There are many positive things happening around the football team. How about stories about how UGA players spent their summer helping in the community; players completing their degrees; players on the academic honor rolls; players who’ve come from unfortunate circumstances and persevered, etc? There just might be 70 good stories to tell compared to the few bad ones.

I know. Taking the positive route will get one labeled a ‘tool’, a ‘homer’, or a ‘Kool-Aide drinker’ by a large percentage of posters. The vast majority of Dawg fans don’t comment online, so take all the negative comments and ignorance and Monday-morning-quarterbacking with a grain of salt.

If their PERSONAL CHOICES get in the way, then they have to pay the price. THe are DUMPED.
