HOOVER, Ala. – The question was about the perceived advantage of the open date on South Carolina’s schedule before the Gamecocks’ Nov. 10 game against Arkansas. But South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier veered in a different direction with the answer.
“You think I make the schedule?” Spurrier said from the podium at SEC Media Days. “If I made the schedule, Georgia would be playing LSU, and we’d be playing Ole Miss.”
The schedule says otherwise, of course — South Carolina at LSU on Oct. 13 and Georgia vs. Ole Miss in Athens on Nov. 3.
Spurrier didn’t make more of the issue, quickly moving on by saying: “Not complaining about that other part I mentioned there.”
But he had made the point, not for the first time, that South Carolina’s cross-division schedule is more imposing than Georgia’s. Last month, at the SEC meetings in Destin, Fla., Spurrier proposed that such schedule inequities be remedied by counting only intra-division games in determining the SEC East and West champions. That proposal went nowhere.
Georgia this season draws SEC West opponents Ole Miss and Auburn (a combined 4-12 in league play last season), while South Carolina draws Arkansas and LSU (a combined 14-2 in the league last season). The Gamecocks have lost to Arkansas each of the past three seasons and five of the past six.

After reading many many comments it is ver apparent the poster going by the handle “kral” has the iq of a goldfish. His superficial idiotic post demonstrate why people like him should not be allowed to reproduce and his government assistance should be stopped. Even a job at McDonalds is above his skill set and aptitude platform.
When was that last UGA title?

No one was giving UGA any credit a couple of years ago when they had the toughest schedule in the country for 2 years in a row.. Spurrier is a troll and he lost to UGA as a player and he lost his job at tech because of UGA.. So just understand he is a loser troll.

Truth,
The real truth is S.C. is the whinest team with the whinest Coach and the stupidest, crybabies for fans. Why didn’t you complain when UGA had to play LSU, AUBURN & ALABAMA in the same year? When you can give an honest answer, then get back to me. Until then, grow a set, or take some Midol, I don’t really care to hear you cry anymore…

. . . you’ve got to love a bunch of losers who live vicariously through a bunch of children playing a game with a ball, having the nerve (or lack of intelligence as it may be) to badmouth Spurrier — who has owned UGA at virtually every college coaching job he has had! You may not like him, but yopu haven’t figured out how to consistently beat him (and his inferior talent) yet!!
_________________
“. . . owned UGA at virtually every college coaching job he has had”? He’s only had three, you dolt. He never played UGA while he was at Duke and is 3-4 vs UGA since becoming head coach at USC. How is that owning UGA “at virtually every college coaching job he has had”?
Only with fla has he “owned” them–that’s at ONE of his three coaching jobs. Quit posting lies, jerk.

UGA does luck out this year and miss the big 3 from the west which will clearly help the win loss column. However, I believe most UGA fans were upset when they found out bama was being dropped, I was really looking forward to making that trip.

Please don’t embarrass the real Dawg fans (who know better) by claiming there’s anything positive to be said about UGA’s strength of schedule this year. It’s universally recognized as pathetic at best. Deal with it.
All but one of the six teams you listed were average at best in 2011. And of course you conveniently overlooked those other powerhouses we’ll face: Buffalo, Fla Atlantic, Vandy (every year), Kentucky (every year), Ole Miss, and Ga Southern.
You’d be well served to keep your yap shut about UGA’s strength of schedule–at least until the SEC West’s elite begin to roll back on there.
