Georgia’s first 3 games picked up for television; 12:21 p.m. kickoff for opener

Athens – Fans will be able to catch Georgia’s first three games of the season on television.

That was the news that emerged Monday with the SEC’s release of the league-wide TV schedule. It was uncertain where television might fit in with two of the Bulldogs’ first three games being against Buffalo and Florida Atlantic.

  • The SEC Network picked up Georgia’s Sept 1 opener against Buffalo and has set the kickoff for 12:21 p.m.;
  • ESPN2 will carry the highly-anticipated opener against SEC newbie Missouri at 7:45 p.m. on Sept. 8;
  • Comcast Sports Southeast (CSS) will televise the Bulldogs’ Sept. 15 tilt against FAU at 7:30 p.m.

The first three games of the 2012 Georgia football season will be televised by the SEC Network, ESPN2, and CSS according to a league-wide scheduled released Monday by the Southeastern Conference office.

Georgia already knows its Oct. 27 game with Florida in Jacksonville will be televised by CBS at 3:30 p.m., as usual. The other games will be determined the SEC’s 12 days in advance procedure.

The Bulldogs announced this past weekend that they have sold out of season tickets for the 2012 season. Only singles remain for the home games against Buffalo and FAU.

Looks like an easy schedule for GA this year with Buffalo, FAU & Georgia Southern on the schedule. UGA is afraid to play GSU.

Im not sure if he is available or not. Even he would win 10 games with UGA’s schedule though.

Murray should not play more than the first half against Buffalo. If the game isn’t well intake by then another Quarterback should get some playing time but I expect to be ahead at least 24-0 and Murray’s backup needs some playing time. Letting starters stay in when you are blowing away your opponent is crazy. When players get tired they are are prone to injury so Murray, Marshall Jones and half a dozen more need to sit out the second half.
I want to get Marshall Morgan at least 5 or 6 field goal attempts so he will be ready for Missouri. We would have won the South Carolina game and the Michigan State game if Walsh doesn’t miss 40 to 45 yard field goals last year.Chip shots for him. Get Morgan use to how important field goal are in the SEC right away.

Great that football is upon us!!!! Disappointing that it takes almost 2 years to get a mascot- its time we look at other options instead of the Seilor Family. My guess for this year: 9-3…maybe 10-2. This group still has way to much drama to expect more. I am one that still isnt sold on Murray and while 10 in a row was great, the fact still remains we lost to the best 4 teams on the schedule and have yet to beat a top 20 team in years.

Which one would you prefer……???

1. Going into Missouri to play the Tigers
or
2. Going into Texas A&M to play the Aggies

I think Florida would be willing to switch games……plus the rest of Georgia’s non conference and confence schedule this coming year.

This is the year for your Dawgs….and you better take advantage of it….it might be a while…..after this year….when Dawg fans feel so confident (can we beat Missouri? and Buffalo???) going into a season of such promisie.

Just FYI…..

Florida’s first three game are on ESPN….
3:30pm…..Bowling Green (at Florida)
3:30pm…..Texas A&M (at the 12th man)
6:00pm…..Vols (at Tenn)

A real test for Muschamp’s young and talented Gators……and a bigger test for Brissett and/or Driskell. A&M and the Vols early….key to the season.

Florida should win 1st two games handily… Bowling Green? A rebuilding A&M? Tennessee, though a middle of the pack SEC team, may give Florida some competition. Florida should be 3 – 0 after three……. Still have a BIG ? at QB and could stumble against the Tick Hounds if they don’t get a better passing game than the pedestrian numbers they had last year. I see Florida losing 3 games in the regular season – and possibly 4. Mussbubba is on the HOT seat after this season and Florida State, will take the Lizards by 10.

Muschamp’s seat remains “ice cold” as long as the team shows impovement over last year…primarily on offense. They will be very good on defense this year. Muschamp received an extension after last year…..and I know Foley will give him at least 3 more years before even considering anything else other than another extension. Muschamp is building a big time winner in Gainesville. It is obvious to 99 percent of GatorNation….and expecially to those who matter the most….the Florida President, the AD, and Bull Gators (plenty in the Tampa area)….both of which are highly supportive and very postive about what Muschamp is doing.

In 2007…..Bama went 6-6 in the regular season (losing to…of all teams….LA-Monroe….then won their bowl game to finish 7-6. The following season they went 13-0 and lost to Florida in the SEC championship game.

Not saying Florida will match that record……but they did go 6-6 last year (did not lose to any sorry teams)….and won their bowl game to finish 7-6. We will see……..

tampa,

i like your school spirit, but your gators have a very rocky road ahead of them in wk 2 & 3.

you have a road game @ a&m the 2nd wk of the season (when was the last time uf played outside of the state of fl the 1st 3 weeks of the season?). that game will be much more physical than uf is accustomed to. following that road contest, they go on the road again to ut. w/ ut losing 7 straight to uf, dooley yet to gain a signature win, dooley on the hot seat……i just don’t see a tired uf team being able to handle a VERY hungry ut team. i’ll take bray and that wr corps at home all day against either driskell/brisset and no quality wrs on the road. uf has a good defense, but not good enough to make-up for no offense.

We go 9-3 unless we are really good. There is nothing to indicate we will really be good. The schedule would be easy for Alabama but Ga ain’t Bama. This schedule is tougher than it looks unless our offense finds some answers. Ga has never held up to expectations under Richt. We can hope this yr is different.

———–

I am a die hard Dawg fan (I am an Alumni, who was born and raised there and still lives in 5 points), but our fan base is pretty weak by SEC standards. We have an extemely quiet stadium when compared to our conference foes. In general, its hard to get any emotion other than “FIRE MARK RICHT” out of fan base. They are never satisfied with anything and act like a bunch of over-primped frat boys for the most part. The way that people act after a loss is HYSTERICAL to me. Someone spends all this money and time to come to Athens, and they predicate the “success” of the weekend on how a bunch of 18-22yo guys perform on the grid iron!! It’s a GAME, quit acting like a child who just found out they can’t watch TV!! You didn’t practice, call a play, or play in the game, but for some reason you take it personal if we don’t win. WTF!?!

Don’t get me wrong, I love the money generated from the “over primped frat boys” (actually that is Chris Fowler’s opinion of Athens, kinda rubbed me the wrong way as a local and alumni but the truth hurts sometimes!!). Coming to games as a social event and spending a bunch of money shouldn’t be confused with a die-hard fan base. It seems like everytime I give one our fans a “GOOO DAWGS!!” and hold up my hand for a high-five they look at me like I’m a leper. I would understand if it were Spring time in Atlanta or Augusta, but a fall Saturday in Athens should be different.

GOOOOOOO DAWGS!!!!!!

@P The ricker….(interesting posting name by the way)……

Also…..nice posting opinions without throwing in insults….appreciated. Florida will make huge strides this year at WR…..(just my opinion based on the spring and what I am hearing from off season workouts in the gym and during 7 on 7 drills).
1. Quinton Dunbar, a soph….is bigger this year and experienced with a lot more confidence. I expect him to play much better…and he is very talented.
2. Andre Debose, jr……took big steps last year…and will keep a lot of teams honest…home run threat on every down (and especially when returning kickoffs)
3. Chis Hammond, Sr, will be better in the slot…..because Dunbar and Debose are better. He is good receiver..
4…….and watch out for a freshman early enrollee named…..Latroy Pittman. Big, fast, great hands, and runs great routes. Was a star this spring…..and he can really block.
5. TE….Jordan Reed….his break out year if he stays healthy…..very fast, big, strong, very athletic…great hands. On the watch list for the John Mackey Award for TEs.

Another problem last year……Brantley could not get the ball to his receivers and the OL could not block. Brantley is gone…..and I think Brissett will win the QB battle and he has a big arm, is big, and very athletic…..and I believe he will be able to get the ball to the above receivers….a lot. Plus….Clay Burton and Omaris Hines can really catch the ball coming out of the backfield. You will see a lot of Burton, Hines, and Reed in the passing game…..and a lot of sets and motion in Pease’s offense….remember that from last year….Georgia? Gave you fits vs. Boise. Concerning the OL play…..it will be night and day for four reasons…..1. the new OL coach is so much better than what Weis brought with him (and who was asked to leave….and I think Weis was encouraged to do the same by the way). The players are raving about what he is teaching them techique wise. Blocking schemes are more like what Bama does. 2. The S & C coach has the OL working out with Olympic style training and they are all getting much bigger and much stronger. The previous S & C was good….for the spread…..not the pro style approach. 3. James Wilson got a 6th year of eligibilty (former 5 star recruit with a can’t miss tag who has never been healthy). He finally got healthy towards the end of last year and took over the LG position at 6′3 and about 340 during the FSU game and played well. Then….dominated in the Ohio State game….and was a monster in the spring game. He could step up and play at an All-SEC level this year….if he stays healthy. 4. More experience and depth. Florida lacked both last year. Not this year. New center gained valuable experience last year (Harrison….Jr). LG…Halapio….Jr…..just got better all year and did the same this spring. LT – Nixon…Sr…… played at about 270 last year. He is already 310. RT – Matt Patchen…Sr……extremely gifted but has always been hurt…is healthy and much bigger and stronger. Pushed by Chaz Green…soph….who is also bigger and stronger. Then two injured freshman are back and played well in the spring….especially Trip Thurman at both tackle positions. And the Gators also have early enrollees….D.J. Humphries and Jassmen Dunker…..who looked beyond their years this spring….and have been in the training system all summer. Both are future stars.

Yes….I am very optimistic about my Gators…..but also realistic. QBs…either Brissett or Driskell…or both….have to step up big time and play like jrs….not true sophs. Gillislee and Brown have to stay healthy….step up……and run like hell….downhill……at RB this year. The Gators have a lot of talent and potential….but a lot of questions to be answered. I think 9 or 10 wins….maybe more….is highly possible for this team…..and could win the SEC East with some luck…..

But….LSU wins the SEC this year……and will not have to play a second place team from their own conference for the National Title this year…..probably a very good USC team instead.

No doubt Florida has some real tallent. Georgia will have to play a lot better than last year to beat this team. They look like they will be much improved. Still say that is Georgia’s hardest game this year. USC and Auburn will be next on the list. Maybe Mizzu, but I doubt it. Frankly, Vandy looks tougher. Still, I expect two losses, no SEC return, and hopefully a bowl win with this current squad. To thin and will not be ready for big games.

Eventually the tide will turn and you will just have to sit and watch. Happens to all of them. Good luck with Auburn. They seem just about poised to start winning the big game again. Should be fun to watch. Better win all of them. No way anyone votes for a rematch this year. I have a feeling the crystal may head west. Non SEC west…
