ATHENS — In a year in which the Georgia Bulldogs have seen their number in a continuing state of dwindle, they finally got to add one on Monday.
Brandon Burrows, a redshirt sophomore linebacker from Marietta who quit the team just last week, asked for and was granted a reinstatement on Monday.

Burrows
“I’m actually on my way back to Athens right now,” said Burrows, reached via cellphone Monday night. “I’ve just been thinking about it and praying about it a lot. It was weird because, while I was thinking about it, I got a call from Coach [Rodney] Garner and we talked about a lot of things. He was saying I owed it to myself, being fully healthy and not redshirted, to play here and prove to myself I could do it. And I really agree with him. I think I would have being doing myself an injustice if I left in such a manner. So I talked to Coach Richt about it and he’s, of course, as caring and understanding as they come.
“I just can’t put into words how thankful I am to be back and I’m elated to be a Georgia Bulldog.”
Burrows, a 6-foot-3, 240-pound linebacker out of Marietta’s Walton High, redshirted as a member of the scout team in 2010, then had to sit out this past season following shoulder surgery. He was able to practice at inside linebacker this spring and was listed as No. 3 at the “Mike” position on the 2012 preseason depth chart. Senior Mike Gilliard and sophomore Amarlo Herrera are currently listed ahead of him.
In announcing his decision to seek a transfer this past Thursday, Burrows said he hoped to become a defensive end in a 4-3 scheme as he envisioned when he first signed with Georgia in 2010.
“There really wasn’t a straw that broke the camel’s back,” Burrows said of quitting. “It wasn’t anything like that. But once you’re gone, that’s like my second family over there and one thing led to another. I just need to take things one day at a time. It was a hasty decision and I just need to focus on getting ready for camp and doing the Dawg thing.”
The Bulldogs had another player quit only to return this past season. Running back Ken Malcome quit the team in frustration over a lack of playing time last September. With Isaiah Crowell’s dismissal on June 29th, Malcome is now the No. 1 tailback heading into preseason camp.

Bucket..I agree about Gantham changing the overall attitude change for sure. I almost wish he was the hc. But CMR and him compliment each other so well. Now if only Bobo can learn some new plays we will be unstoppable like lsu or bama looked last year.

Not ruined and does not bother me one bit. I’ve been using this name for about 5 years. Everyone has juvenile idiots try that every once in a while. They’re just losers that have nothing worth while to contribute. They are pretty simple minded so they can’t match you in a bout of wits.

Good for the young man. He was a little behind on the depth chart, had some bad luck with an injury, and got a little discouraged but decided to stick with it and return to the team. Good for him. This Bama fan wishes him well and he’s still got 3 years of eligibility left.

I’ve met Burrows, and he’s a class act. He’s been up in Athens a couple years and never got into any trouble. Best of luck, Brandon. The team is fortunate to have you back.

I don’t think it is Bobo’s plays as much as the guys who can’t execute them right. Bobo has shown several times he is capable of calling a good game and coming up with a good plan. I think the guys we have had on the line were missing too many blocks and getting a play blown up?

Welcome back Brandon Burrows… clean heart = clear mind. You have now taken the first step towards being a team leader on this Bulldawg team. Your character fits the mold of a natural born leader and is exactly what this team so dearly needs. Hunker down big Dawg you will make it to the top in short time!!

So does that mean Alabama will not win the West because I hope Georgia will win the East and if they do , they will play the winner of the West Division. So I guess Georgia will have to play Arkansas or LSU.
No what that means is they won’t have to play them twice. That’s a huge difference. Georgia won’t get always with not playing the best of the West if they win the East. If they don’t win the East what will it matter if they didn’t play a team in the West.

glad u reconsidered Brannon. Lot of guys have second and third thoughts about playing, and the sacrifices. No harm done, GATA and be a positive example….will be lookin for you to make an impact. As far as all u haters out there……they’re kids people…..kids who need guiding, not derogatory remarks. Lets get behind, and STAY, behind this team, AND its coaches. For Pete’s sake folks, SHOW SOME DAMN LOYALTY, instead of a dead sprint to see who can bash a player or coach first……..are yall with me or against me??????

Oh and btw I would like to point out that this kid prayed about his decision. I am not religious but I do believe in God so that’s just another reason I like CMR. He doesn’t throw his beliefs in your face but he stands firmly on his values. He helps kids when they wanna leave and forgives them when they want back in because he actually CARES about their LIVES. He doesn’t need a NC to prove he is a good man and coach but he will get one this year!

Just an observation. It may be perception, but it seems like UGA has several players quit and then ask to come back. Now that is fine, however it may show the root of some problems deeper than lack of playing time. Then again it may be the fact the guys in front of them are that good and they do not want it as bad as the guys in front of them. Every school has kids leave either by their own choice or by their coach, but having kids(players) then a few days or weeks ask to come back just seems odd when it happens multiple times in the course of an offseason. UGA fans would or could think that the offseason program is tough, the talent is deep, and the attitudes have changed among their players,
Either way, it just seems like something is not right with players quitting then returning.
Good luck to your teams this summer and this fall.

Is it possible for a program to be in more dissarray than uga without being on probation. Being a headcase must be a prerequisite to being recruited by richt and company. but of course u only have to look at the redneck behavior of the DC grantham to understand the prerequisite must also ap ly to the coaching hires as well. Cant wait to see another meaningless season in athens. Vandy hs become.more interesting and relevant. It has got to be hard being a uga fan these days with so many lousbasey teams. Everyone knew they were at best the 6th or 7th team in the sec. Only.won the east because they didnt play the big 3 from the west and usc did, then if not for the punters td saving tackle would have lost to vandy. Mens basketball and baseball is bottom of the conference with n prospects for improvement. All while gt baseball is winning acc titles, ladys bball spanks uga, mens.bball is signing top 15 classes to play in the nations best new arena, enrolling all their football recruits, and neck in neck with uga football recruiting all while continuing to smoke uga academically, and then with texas a&m signing the nations 2nd best class while everyone is talking about alabama, lsu, a&m, arkansas, and south carina wih no mention of uga. Must be hard to be a dawg.

Glad this guy is back. Good for him and God bless him. But GA has got to do a better job of recruiting! Too many don’t pan out, mess up, kicked off team etc. Just get some guys with grit and determination who have a little bit of character and build a team. Give me a guy with 3 stars and some character and let these 5 star guys with no character go somewhere else. When was the last time we saw an over achiever at GA? I’m not sure we have seen one in a while.
