DESTIN, Fla. – The football games scheduled for 2020 and 2021 between Georgia and Ohio State have been called off.
Ohio State recently informed UGA that it is exercising its right to cancel the games, which had been set up in a memorandum of understanding between the schools in December 2010.
“They couldn’t make it happen due to the Pac 12-Big 10 football schedule deal,” Georgia athletic director Greg McGarity said Thursday, referring to a recent agreement between those conferences for a series of regular-season matchups beginning in 2017.
“And we understood,” McGarity added.
McGarity said Ohio State would not face a financial penalty for canceling the games, one of which was to have been played in Athens and the other at Ohio State. Specific dates had not been set. Ohio State recently informed Georgia that it could not confirm dates.

Boo — but, if I remember correctly, McGarity was involved with us “mutually” canceling our series with Oregon, in part because Oregon was “too far away.” Of course, it was the same distance away from Athens when we SIGNED the deal for a home and home series with them!. It would have been great to play the Ducks and Ohio State. Instead, we’ll have Florida Atlantic and other thrillers….! GO DAWGS!

Figure- they back out and nobody will say a word about it, but they’ll sit up there in B10 country all the while crying about the SEC’s “soft” OOC scheduling. Once again, they are proven to be hypocrites.

Funny……any Dawg fan talking as if the Big Ten is afraid of playing Georgia…..when the Bulldogs were the only SEC team to lose to a Big Ten team in a bowl game last year. LOL. Anyway…..read the article. The move had nothing to do with being afraid or not being afraid.

Why would OHIO STATE be afraid of GEORGIA ?
After MICHIGAN STATE beat GEORGIA, I am sure it was not because they thought they would lose.

Outside of conference games and the annual GT game, UGA just lost half of the BCS games they had scheduled for the NEXT 10 YEARS.
After what happened with the Oregon and Louisville series, there was little doubt that UGA would not play OSU.
An absolutely pathetic O-O-C schedule for the next decade just got even worse.

Now I hope the talk radio mouthpieces quit saying the SEC won’t schedule the Big Ten. I always wondered if the planes fly both ways when they say the SEC never goes up and plays the big ten.

This has nothing to do with Ohio State being scared at all, its purely due the fact that the Big Ten and Pac 12 recently signed an enormously lucrative deal between the two and playing UGA just wasnt going to be a viable option since they had to fit a Pac 12 team in there somewhere. Its gotta be really difficult to schedule games so far in the future like that. But its too bad, that would have been a great game to watch! Hopefully this game will happen in the near future when the playoff system comes around.

In the early 1980s, came to Athens, gave the Dogs a good game, but still picked up the L. Decided did not want to see the Dogs in LA and bought their way out of the return match.
Would have been a good matchup, and despite UGA’s great record against the Big Ten and Ohio State, am sure the Buckeyes would give a good account of themselves. (I recall a 1965 UGA team going into Ann Arbor and coming away with a W).

Tampa Gator let’s see here. Iowa has beaten Florida. Michigan has beaten Florida not once, but twice. What is this? Oh no this cannot possibly be true. Michigan State also beat Florida. Wow Gator, maybe you should shut up. Calling out a team that has only lost one game to the big ten when your Gators has been punked out by them in not 1 like that school you just bashed, but 4. Oh and I almost forgot. That team that you just bashed beat yalls punk arse team. Suck on that bit of info for a while looser.

so as far as OOC games the only one we have to look forward to is Clumpus and, that is in danger of being cancelled because of conference expansion. Maybe we will get a rematch with West Virginia.

Word is that the Ohio St Athletic Director recently took a trip to Atlanta, and decided to stop by Athens just to check things out. He was pretty disappointed to say the least, so he didn’t want to force his players to go down there. Personally, I admire a man who looks out for his students like that.

Urban knows the SEC is much better than the little 10. He’s been here. Although he had the edge on the dawgs he knows the gap in the talent level. I know they will play a softee PAC-12 team as well. Unfortunately mcgarity will likely schedule Ohio U as a replacement. Ready for the season and the year of the Dawg!!!!

No, what’s really funny is a Gaytor that can’t remember the past (sound familiar?) Go ahead and look up UGA’s record against the Big Ten in the last, oh, 30 years or so, then get back to us.
“To be sure, Meyer will be long gone”
More specifically, he’ll retire, sign with another team, retire, sign again, fake having cancer or something, retire, etc.

Sadly this is the future of CFB – the big OOC games will either be in-state rivals (GT-UGA, UF-FSU, UK-UL, etc) or they will be part of conference deals (PAC 12 v B1G in this case, doubtless SEC v Big XII down the road). If CFB goes to 16 team conferences you’ll only see games like UGA-OK State or UGA-ASU on a Sony Playstation.
