3 players dismissed by Georgia for team rules violations
ATHENS — Three players have been kicked off the Georgia football team for an undisclosed violation of team rules.
UGA coach Mark Richt announced this morning that defensive back Nick Marshall, wide receiver Sanford Seay and defensive back Chris Sanders have been dismissed from the team. All three are freshmen and were members of Georgia’s 2011 “Dream Team” recruiting class.
The school did not address what precipitated the dismissals.
“It’s a privilege to play college football and to be a part of this team and University,” Richt said in a statement. “Along with that privilege comes certain responsibilities. Mistakes were made, and part of our job is helping them learn from mistakes. Going forward, we are committed to assisting them find opportunities where they can continue their education.”
Marshall’s high school coach, Mark Ledford, was reached by the AJC this morning.
“I don’t want to comment on what Nick did,” said Ledford, head football coach at Wilcox County High. “All I’ll say is I’ve been informed he is going to be released from UGA. As far as the details, I’d rather wait and see what Georgia is going to say officially.”
Marshall, a former AJC Super 11 player, was expected to play a significant role in Georgia’s secondary next season. He played sparingly as a cornerback and nickelback and extensively on special teams as a true freshman last season. A four-star prospect as a guard, he was also expected to join the Bulldogs’ basketball team at some point.
“There were going to be a lot of opportunities for him,” Ledford said. “It’s a shame he’s wasting those opportunities at Georgia. He’s going to have to accept the consequences and hopefully learn from them.”
Sanders, an all-state safety at Tucker, played in the first three games for Georgia before being sidelined with an injury the remainder of the season. He was expected to have four years remaining and contribute in the secondary.
Seay, who is from Leesburg, was redshirted last season, while Sanders, who is from Tucker, played in the first three games before missing the remainder of the season because of injury.

My daughter attends Alabama because she couldn’t get in Georgia because she “only” had a 3.45 gpa in high school. She tells me that most of the football players at Alabama smoke dope and spend most of their time trying to pick up white girls. Drinking and other violatins go
unpunished and overlooked and Saban and his coaches look the other way. Too bad…I thought Saban had some class but it appears he’s only out for himself. It will catch up with him one day soon.

For all those new to the board (Red Pants) JB is another 4.0 UGA grad just like TDF. Somehow when in school they missed taking English classes. They both seemed to take that Intro to Retarded Humor class though to pad their GPA.

You obviously can’t tell for sure but look at Isaiah Crowell. The kid had attitude problems that showed when he was playing in high school and most of his pictures on Facebook were him flicking off other people. Are you really shocked that a guy like that ended up getting into trouble?

Bama fans,
We get it. You’re team is more successful, is on an all time great roll (no pun intended), and has the talent stashed away to be contenders for years to come. But I ask the question again, why are you on a UGA blog trashing Georgia? If you want to talk trash, shouldn’t you be on an Auburn or LSU or even Arkansas website? We’re not even very big rivals, we only play every so often.
Why don’t you just enjoy your success and GTFO?
I think the better question should be:
If Michael Carvell wants to keep writing negative article about Bama, why wouldn’t Bama fans come on here and bash UGA at every opportunity?
Maybe if Carvell’s pro Georgia Propaganda blog were more unbiased the hatred would at least slow down and the trash talking would become a secondary point.

I hate it when college athletes, or any other young person, makes a mistake that takes away an opportunity. I just hope they’re able to learn from their mistakes and move on to positive things in their lives.
In regard to all the negative posts, ask yourself if you’ve ever made mistakes, or someone in your family. If the answer is yes, then you need to be more forgiving. NO ONE is perfect!

You can point to the behavior of one fan who never went to the school, never donated, never owned season tickets. Bad behavior? I’ll point to all those AJC pics of damage and trash strewn all over the north campus of UGA, something done by hundreds if not a couple thousand fans instead of 1 fan like a Harvey Updyke. Answer to 11:08 question………….The PROOF is that Bama recruits from the same gene pool. They are all 17-18. Of course the writers for the biggest paper in GEORGIA are writing in favor of the local team. Why would they have a pro Bama/Florida/Auburn/SCAR, etc agenda? They cover in state teams, that’s their job. They get paid to write op-ed pieces, for those of you that weren’t journalism majors (I was, at UGA), that means they get paid to give their opinions. They’re not hard news journalists. So of course they slant in favor if UGa in the UGA section of the Atlanta paper’s website.

Still not sure why if it’s true they stole something(like 500) why they don’t have to report it to the police. Knowing you don’t have a “get-out-of-jail free” card as a scholarshiped player could solve some of this mess. Send them to jail, even if it is a misdemeanor.

There is one major difference between UGA and Alabama football. The players show up at Alabama and know that they are there to get and education and play football and it is run like a business as they are told they can get to next level with dedication, hard work and staying out of trouble. It is expected and demanded while at UGA it seems that football is a secondary reason to be on campus to “some” players.

No. Not really. You rarely if ever read about UGA football at al.com. UGA football is largely irrelevant in the state of Alabama. When the last 3 national titles have resided in the state of Alabama why in the hell would anyone concern themselves with a middling 2nd tier program like UGA? Why?
