So those of you who are pretty wired in via Twitter and Facebook have probably already seen the video of new Georgia tailback Keith Marshall racing rising sophomore wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell on Woodruff Practice Fields recently. If you missed it, I’m happy to provide it HERE.

Marshall
First, a little background. Apparently this was the third time these two young football stars raced in a 40-yard dash. The first time, Mitchell reportedly won and quarterback Aaron Murray didn’t get to see it and he complained about it. So they did it again the other day, with Murray shooting video and wide receiver Chris Conley providing color commentary.
Spoiler alert: Marshall, who supposedly came to Georgia with a 4.3-second 40-yard time (and similar GPA), wins the last two races by an eyelash. But I would suspect Bulldogs’ fans are more intrigued just by the fact Marshall was willing to compete against one of the teams’ established stars. Says a little something about his competitive nature, I’d say.
Mitchell, of course, emerged as one of the Bulldogs’ most explosive offensive threats as a true freshman this past season and finished as the Bulldogs’ second-leading receiver with 45 catches for 665 yards despite missing three games due to injury. Marshall is a 5-star prospect and the No. 1-rated running back in America, according to Scout.com. He enrolled early at UGA.
Anyway, just wanted to throw it out there for any of you folks who might have missed it. Besides, considering Mitchell’s problems with a hamstring injury last season, I suspect the coaches have seen this and already shut down the race track. I’m just guessing but, as Apollo Creed said in the first Rocky, “ain’t gonna be no rematch.”

I tend to agree with Eisendawg. Our O line is the key to our offensive success, and they have been mighty disappointing for the last several years.

What we need is more depth on OL and DL as well. Michigan St. totally dominated us with their DL. The OL could not open any running lanes either because of it. As for our DL, they are pretty good but if they are forced to play too much of the game, due to so many three and outs, they are gassed after three quarters. Just my take on the bowl game, and what I saw, from my seat on the 40 yd line….

PS if you don`t think you need a stable of good backs in this league, cue to 2010 and 2011. people get hurt, ankles, knees, shoulders….fresh legs and different looks cause D confusion, this group for next year could be very special, O line has some great talent coming in, aka Theuss, probable Young, and good sophs. let`s face it, the right side had size but limited mobility and a ton of penalties. big improvement there this year. D line, where`s the problem? you know of any better?

Actually GTbob, you better hope he doesn’t. You think Murray gashes that pathetic group of guys you call a defense? Mason actually has a better throwing motion and a better arm. He also puts better touch and spiral on the ball. He’d do Tech even worse.
Oh and YOU WILL get a taste of Mason at least ONE TIME because he’s taken a redshirt! hahaha I feel bad for you BUG!

DiLex Crowell will look at his options because He can Read the Writing on the Wall. Hahah sorry his Mommy will read the Writing on the Wall for him. Crowell will fold under the competition.
Mason is red shirting giving LeMay the 2nd QB slot. mason will never be higher on the depth chart than he was last year.

I already destroyed you last week regarding your comments about Mason.
He was a late signee for depth who turned out to be pretty good though not highly ranked coming out of high school.
You really need to give up and direct your comments to something you might actually know something about instead of predicting the playing time of a member of a football team that you hate with all your being.

I will admit the schedule is the best UGA’s had the past few years. When I look over it I do not see a team they can not beat. I see in all you comments that you expect them to go 13-1. Who is the loss too?
Shankit- 4.2 and under is world class speed and they maybe two guys in the world that can run that fast and o say he can do it with pads is a strech. He is good though.

DiLex save it a see. I don’t think Mason has made a wise Career decision unless he wants to become GA and head to coaching.
Stafford looked better this year playing the Whole season, but he still had too many INTs. & T.O’s.

Maybe he cares more about the school than the football?
Maybe he just loves Georgia?
I’m not going to bash him for deciding to stay at a place he loves and compete for playing time.
We need more like him who won’t quit when things don’t go exactly like they planned.
Folks predicted(just like you) that DJ Shockley should and would transfer because he would only get 1 year to play.
He was SEC offensive player of the year and won the SEC title as QB.

Congratulations, Dawgs, on your recruitment of Marshall. I have a feeling he will be huge for UGA. Wished he had chosen GT. Richt is a heck of a recruiter. Marshall confirms he can recruit quality players. For every Crowell he has recruited, he has also picked up a Marshall and a Drew. The fringe that want to fire Richt are no smarter than the poor fellow who painted the Go Dwags sign. If you fire Richt, expect to be the next UT Vols.
Go Jackets!

The new kid (Marshall) also has some smarts w/4.3 GPA. Wonder what he’s majoring in?
IC came in w/all the same hype as did King and Ealey so will wait until they prove it on the field before jumping on any band wagon. What concerns most of us is these kids do not have a proven OL to open holes nor a OC and game plan that best utilizes their skills. If the dawgs ever needed a new years resolution its a new game plan to replace the existing up the middle 3 and out. Its too predictable and apparently CMR and Bobo are not willing to change it. Good coaches would come up w/a system that best suits their player talent and abilities. Clearly, if anything was apparent this past season it was the dawgs could not run the ball up the middle. Until they can, try something else, please.

First time to blog in a long time but I am really excited about Georgia Football. The haters are jealous or threatened by pending success and as we all know usually masked cowards of others teams. There are great fans across the board at all schools and I respect them for supporting their teams but unfortunately I still see their are some delusional others with no or very little true knowledge about football.
No matter how well Georgia does or who ever the haters hate they will always be haters and are probably the same at home or in their business lives if they actually work. Georgia will have a great year next year and I am proud of our program and for the true Georgia fans you should feel the same way.

This is how UGA’s offense should look..
Jump on teams early with a combination of explosive plays via airing it out and freeing up all that speed and jump on the board and get a nice lead..
Then ground and pound adding some play action throws to be balanced it out and eat the clock up..
With that D.. UGA shouldn’t lose games..

Actually, Mason said that he loves UGA, and did not want to leave, but he wants to play. He said that if he transfered, it would be to a Div 1 school, and that, by rule, he would have to sit a year. So, he decided to take a redshirt, and sit a year here. Plus, if Murray were to get hurt, the redshirt could be taken off, and he would have the opportunity to play this year.
