Sophomore CB Jordan Love leaving Georgia, seeks transfer

ATHENS – UGA officials confirmed Saturday night what Jordan Love hinted about via Twitter. The redshirt sophomore cornerback is leaving Georgia and will seek to continue his football career elsewhere.

Love

Love

Love sent this message out via Twitter Saturday evening: “It’s been real Athens. . . . All good things come to an end.”

Georgia spokesman Claude Felton later confirmed Love’s departure to reporters covering the Bulldogs’ basketball game against Alabama Saturday night.

Love could not be reached for comment. But he did talk to Gentry Estes of Dawgs247.com, saying: “I don’t want to say anything about it right now. When I get everything together I’ll let y’all know.”

Love played sparingly as a backup cornerback for the Bulldogs his two seasons in Athens. This past season he recorded 12 tackles while appearing in 8 games, with most of his work coming on special teams. As a freshman, he played in all 13 games and finished with 9 tackles.

Georgia lost cornerback Brandon Boykin out of its starting secondary from last season. The rest of the unit returns intact and the Bulldogs have several rising sophomores who are expected to compete for playing time, including Nick Marshall, Damian Swann and Chris Sanders.

If you live in Athens, it’s not hard to watch outdoor practices in the spring, late summer and into the season. In the spring and summer, all the QBs (and others) get a lot of looks. The evaluation by the coaches are puzzling sometimes. Anyone who know’s football who watches Marlon Brown practice would certainly believe he would be a primary target in games. But Dog fans know he is barely included at all in games. Watch what he does in the pros in a couple of years.

I believe I stated that I do go to practices; lots of them. Oh, it is very clear to anyone who watches and knows anything about football that Mason, without hesitations, moves the football team down the field with effortless precision,
And Murray’s play against Boise ST., SC, LSU and Mich ST. is convincing enough that someone else should get a shot to compete in the games.

Oh, I believe you could go further than that.

slobodan,

Enjoy your posts, sir.

I think you could say that it goes a lot further than Aaron Murray’s play against Boise State, South Carolina this season, LSU and Michigan State has brought the Bulldog Nation to the point today that we believe as a Group, that someone else should get a shot to compete in the games.

I believe that someone else, anyone else, must be brought in every game and given some snaps. It is the conservative decision to do so.

South Carolina in 2010 also stands out in my mind as an especially poor game for Aaron Murray. The Arkansas game last season stands out. The Colorado, Florida and UCF games all stand out as well as games where a Head Football Coach who was interested in winning at a clip higher than Mark Richt has demonstrated these last entire Six (6) Seasons of running off football scholarship recruits, would then determine that there has to be competition at the QB position culminating in other QBs put out there on the field immediately. Just imagine losing 41 percent of your Starts, having 56 sacks, 1 yards per carry for 7 carries a game, 22 Interceptions and 21 sacks and saying this Field General is going to cost me my OC and maybe my own job. He has demonstrated nothing but immature behavior on and off the field, and has clearly demonstrated he does NOT get over his Heebie-Jeebies – if anything they get worse being sent right back out into the fire.

Hey bulldawg

That Tim Tebow is ONE LOUSY QB ISN’T HE???????????

Can’t wear John 3:16 on his eye black anymore under his eyes so he goes out and throws for 316 yards on 10 completions for an average of 31.6 per completion.

No coincidence in my book.

He is a football player.

Oh, I believe you could go further than that.

No, Tim Tebow isn’t a NFL Quarterback. That why he LOST the last 3 games in a row before yesterday ? That why he is the worst NFL QB in his 2nd season of NFL play ? Grow up. Tim Tebow is no good, and you know it.

I would say, however, that you DEMONSTRATE great WITNESS to his Belief in Jesus Christ with your EVERY POST.

He looked the part yesterday.

Don’t know what game you watched but I saw a football player playing QB for Denver yesterday.

To the topic at hand, Jordan Love is leaving because he is going to get no playing time and was already beat out of his position. The handwriting is on the wall. If he was playing and getting torched, you would bash Richt for not recruiting well enough.

Good luck to the young man. I hope he finds a school, gets his degree and gets to play.

Well, I guess there is another scholarship to use to offer a “5 star prospect”. I can’t watch this bunch recruit any more. If you aren’t from the Metro area or have 5 stars by your name from some recruiting service, you have no chance to play at UGA. If David Pollack was a senior this year, he wouldn’t even be recruited at UGA.
UGA never offered Demarius Thomas at West Laurens because he was too slow to play receiver and not big enough to play tight end. (I heard this from a UGA coach’s mouth) Ask the Steelers how slow he is.

Oh, I believe you could go further than that.

How can he be beat out for the positions in the secondary 9 January when 15 January we may have no secondary remaining for 2012 and no 2012 commits to the secondary yet ?

I guess you are just saying Good Riddance.

Certainly a revelation to read the AJ-C Sunday paper and see their Top 125 in-state prospects for 2012 and where they all are committed to with out-of-state school after school looking equal to the 125 prospects themselves with Georgia.

I’m Not clear on the “QB” position at Uga. I think we have to consider the kid from Fla. Who all the press said he is the real deal. I think he will get a shot. LeMay and Mason I don’t have a clue where they line up with the “QB” position. Then next year lest throw in the kid from St. Mary’s who they say is the real deal. It looks like it will be intresting at UGA “QB” position. Remember there is only one football and at least 4 “QB” not counting Murrary. This decision could make are break a coach’s job at UGA..

The story doesn’t say why Love is transferring and I don’t trust the posters here to tell the truth if they knew it. Soemtimes kids transfer for playing time and sometimes its for a different reason, either academic or personnal.

Love will probably play football on scholarship wherever he goes so it shouldn’t hurt him much financially. Also, he doesn’t sound bitter in his comments so it sounds like his leaving is more about what he wants rather than how Georgia treated him.

Good luck Mr. Love, wherever you end up and whatever your choices for a career.

A Rational logical poster. Thank you sir. It is 99% likely due to the fact that the redshirt DBs will jump him on the depth chart and that was most liekly expressed to him and the fact that we have a shot at a couple DBs late in recruiting. He would most liekly have only seen time at STs. So good for him, go get him some playing time at a smaller school where he can compete for a starting job.

Also now allows us to sign 26 instead of 25.

For ppl posting about Bama and schollies. They only have 16 from seniors leaving plus whatever juniors go early and whatever players Satan CUTS, MEDICAL REDSHIRTS, or RUNS OFF THE TEAM. He is aiming at 30 so there will likely be some grey shirts as well.

RxDawg : Thanks Bro. You actually get it.!!!

To the anonymous idiot to scared to use one name: First, use one name instead of different sentences so I can call you out like a man. There’s no hiding here punk. You obviously can’t read and take bits and pieces to fuel your moronic ramblings. First, I am not “from” New York, I am from GA… Burke County to be exact (Go Bears). Where are you from? You sound more than British with your “Bloody” ramblings. Second, “Joe Cox is no bloody good, that you know that Hutson Mason is no bloody good, that you know that Joe Tereshinski III is no bloody good, that you know that Faton Bauta is no bloody good, that you know that Christian LeMay is no bloody good.”
At what point in any posts on the AJC have I ever even mentioned young Tebow (Mr. Bauta)? Go back and read what I said genius. I did not criticize Mr. Lemay, I said that he “is going nowhere” meaning he is not transferring. I didn’t criticize Joe T, Joe Cox, or Mason, I said that his (Mason’s) stats would be where their stats are if he were the starter which is nowhere near the pace that Murray is on… Idiot, that’s not criticizing, those are numbers. I’m sorry I’m not speaking the high court English language that you are used to and I’m sorry that you can’t understand simple QB stats because we aren’t using the metric system. Get over it chief. You can’t beat me. If you wanna go man to man I accept the challenge. Set up a quiz bowl on the NCAA and let’s see who wins… Or, better yet, let’s really see who will, as Crowell said in an interview this year, “drop their nuts” and let’s strap it up and run the Oklahoma drill… I love how you avoided my points on over-signing and such.. Real smooth. I also like how you try to twist things when the context isn’t known to everyone… No worries, I don’t mind telling the whole story (in a nut shell)… I did go off on Tark… and I would do it again. At a time when our program was hurting and needing recruits, Tark comes out and blasts Richt… Like that was something that we really needed… Now look at the transverse here.. Tark, A DGD and legend that I love bashes our head coach for having a couple of subpar years. Whereas, Almost every Ohio State and Penn State Alum rallied behind their coaches when they were parts of heinous acts… See what I’m saying folks? I’m a positive Dawg and I defend my Dawgs when needed against anyone.. even if it’s a legend that should be helping and not hurting. Got that bro? Also, at this time last year, and others here that were around will agree that this is true, there was a poster on this board making heinous posts about the players and staff etc. under other posters names. I was not the only person affected by this. In fact I personally emailed the moderator about this. You fail to mention that. I haven’t been on here saying that anyone sucks. You wanna quote me bro, quote the whole truth not just some garbage to push your pooh on everyone’s plates. Like I said, talk is cheap. I challenge you in anyway that you want. As T.I. used to say, “Let’s be 21 about this, and bring it to the square”.. Don’t get bit by the Dawg in me… And yeah, I will take my word over yours any day.. Paid memberships to multiple Dawg sites where Beat writers post multiple times daily, two high school alums that play (ed) for the Dawgs, a lil bro that attends Mark Richt camp annually, a best friend who was working in the UGA Athletic dept as a grad student (he also taught a few Dawgs as a T.A. that are now in the NFL), and multiple “paid” alumni here in the NYC area that have a very close ear to the program… Need I say more? Don’t write checks.

Comments like the one Basstringerfish left just goes to show how ppl think they know what they r talking about and truly don’t know a damn thing. smh. Love was the #1 recruit out of the state of maryland and for a good reason. He had scholarships to LSU, PENN ST, Uni of Fla, Notre Dame, Uni Maryland, VTech and the list goes on. And the most productive cornerback the 1st 3 games of the season over Boykins and leading in stats before they decide to bench him. Clearly the player who energized the defense and 2ndary against Boise St and USC this year. He is a good size corner at 6′1 187 and could easily play safety.UGA obviously is bias keeping players from GA on the field and have their favorites. Where ever Love goes will be a ENORMOUS pick up for that institution. I guarantee that you haven’t seen the last of Love. No doubt he will be playing on Sundays. This just goes to show how true talent continues to fly under the radar. Bigger loss to UGA than you all think. Thank God Rambo and Williams decided to stay. Huge loss for UGA
