Bulldogs mixing pleasure with business during Outback Bowl (UPDATED)
TAMPA — Headed over to the “Debartolo Team Luncheon” at the Tampa Convention Center shortly. Both teams will be present, along with some of their fans.
Afterward a number of players from both teams will be available for interviews. The Bulldogs return to practice at the University of Tampa this afternoon. I’ll have some reports later this afternoon.
Yesterday afternoon and evening, Georgia and Michigan State players got the royal treatment at Busch Gardens. The Bulldogs danced with belly dancers and hand-fed giraffes at the park’s expansive Serengeti wildlife exhibit. They also got to ride some of Busch Gardens’ world famous coasters, including the gargantuan ShieKra. Nothing like seeing muscle-bound football players scream like little girls!
Told of photos that show his mouth agape in terror, linebacker Christian Robinson laughed. “Actually, I was just yawning,” he said. “I was just very tired. I wasn’t actually scared at all.”
Eventually ‘fessing up, Robinson explained: “The thing is you come over the top and it stops and for three seconds you’re staring down thinking ‘this is about to happen.’ About halfway down you start to float out of your seat and there’s nothing to hold on to. I’m trying to squeeze next to Ben to have a little more stability. It was quite a feeling in your stomach.”
Quarterback Aaron Murray was hoarse on Thursday and he said it was from all the screaming he did on the coasters Wednesday night, particularly on the Sheikra, which features a 90 degree drop and reaches 70 miles per hour. “That was bad; I was freaking out. It was awful.”
Overall, the Georgia players said they have been having a blast in Tampa, including getting a good bit of free time to enjoy the area.
“We’re operating under a curfew,” junior nose guard John Jenkins said. “Everything is organized and we’re obliging by the curfew. It’s a pretty reasonable curfew. We’re going to have a good time within the rules.”
They’ll have to enjoy the freedom while it lasts as the attitude will turn increasingly serious as the Jan. 2 game against Michigan State looms closer.

You’re right, Chip, fantastic pictures. Although I hope they are taking things seriously, I’m really glad they’re getting a chance to have fun too. The last two bowl game locations haven’t really warranted that, and I’m sure the weather in Tampa is much warmer than Athens judging by the pics. Great article, looking forward to seeing more practice updates too.

When a whole floor of girls in Brumby Hall calls themselves “The Sl.t Deck” what does that tell you? you don’t know much about Ole Miss women of Alabama women if you think UGA has the best looking in the South. If you include Florida as the South then go checkout UCF women. UGA can’t come close to competing with those ladies. @True Dawg Fan my point was the comparison of the girls softball team and the general co-ed population. Its the reverse of thinking the general co-ed population at Oregon look like the cheer leading squad..not knocking the girls at OU at all but they don’t compare favorably vs the cheer leaders but very few do, I think they choose them on a pure cuteness factor. Not that I’m really against that they are easy on the eyes.

Terry NO I just know Axis does or did a monthly UCF girl photo shoot. My Cousin’s Sons and Daughter Attend or Attended UCF. I have been on campus a few times over the years. UCF has like 40K students and close to 60% female. They were beautiful girls all over the place. I mean really pretty girls at every turn.

I guess it HELPS the player to know WHAT the scouts think and want to see improvement on. I hope it doesn’t make a WR tell the QB, “Hay throw me the ball more on deep routes.” I don’t want the evaluations to create team monsters wanting to GET THEIRS for a better draft status. That is my only fear.

I was just checking out a MSU blog. Those people are ery overconfident that they will beat UGA by at least 14. I hope that their team is equally overconfident. Still, Dawgs need to bring their “A” game for the full 60 minutes to win this one.
I hate to say it, but the Auburn has been the only game this year that they showed up for a full 60 minutes. No knock at Auburn.
Maybe we can talk MSU to put on an Auburn uni…..

@WDE…sorry if I came across like a spoilsport…trust me, if anyone’s touchy about a 6 month absence of college football it’s me. In all seriousness, it is good to see the guys enjoying themselves in Tampa…from what I’ve heard they’ve been really focused/sharp in practice too. Hopefully they come into the game well-prepared, but loose and ready to leave it all on the field come Monday afternoon.

Uga players are at zoo playing, and submitting there paperwork for the nfl. Mich.st. players are practicing hard and getting ready to put another beating on Richt and his clown coaching staff. This will be the 4th good team that Richt has played, and it will be the 4th loss for this wonderful coach. Yet, McGarity is going to reward him with a raise and extention, and yet he is getting his ass handed to him in recruiting in his state. Only one commitment from the top 11 players in state. Bama and Saban is kicking richt’s ass in state, Jenkins, Ball, Lee, Greene, the tight end from Buford, the top corner in the state, i probably forgot someone, but at least 4 top 100 players from state committed to bama, and next year the top 2 players in the country are from ga, and both are committed to bama. Yet this clown deserves a raise and an extention. Richt is a joke, and UGA will never win an SECC as long as he is in charge. Plus the fact that half of UGA’s junior’s on defense are thinking about jumping to nfl, only tells you what the hell is going on in athens. Other coaches protect under classmen from agents and runners, yet Richt and his clown coaching staff have no clue who these people are. UGA=Joke, it should be getting old to UGA fans to sit and watch Bama, Auburn, Tenn, and Florida rape the state of top 100 players, yet UGA fans only sit there and applaud Richt and his pathetic coaching staff and his ability to recruit top talent when it really matters the most. Good luck UGA fans, after watching your wonder boy get his ass handed to him again on the field by the 4th team UGA played that was a decent team.

Then, you state that there are not any interesting match-ups in bowl games. Bacarri Rambo, like I said, is not NFL 1st or 2nd Round. He had 1 interception vs South Carolina and we LOST that game, anyway. The other 6 interceptions were all against the very worst football teams in all of America. He made All-America. They voted that on his 7 interceptions. As a defensive back, he was a liability who was booed many times in his 4 years on our campus. We need him back for next season. He isn’t ready for the NFL. He will likely, in my opinion, drop BEYOND 3rd Round, if he actually does declare January 15, which it appears he wanted to do. I don’t see it. Not sure he will play in the NFL. It’s more likely, he will not play in the NFL. He isn’t an NFL starter.
That’s the only Bulldog to get his NFL Advisory Committee report back. And, he took serious exception to it; which will do nothing but move him DOWN in the Draft.
Alabama offers everyone in the state of Georgia a Scholarship. Clearly Alabama has unsustainable recruits for Nick Saban’s ego in that state; and clearly he has been after the state of Georgia. Florida State, likewise, gives everyone in the state of Georgia a Scholarship. They believe in South Georgia they have a better shot at our in-state recruits than we do. It has been part of their recruiting philosophy forever. Likewise, Auburn’s same strategy on the state line. As for the Georgia tek offer to him, Georgia tek would offer to any in-state football player. They still would have had a sorry defense, with him.
Bacarri Rambo is not NFL starter material and may not play in the NFL.
He is quick at 4.5 speed, but not NFL quick at 4.5. He would not be one of the 32 best at any position in the NFL. He’s small. He’s not that fast. He’s short. He takes plays off. He has been burned his entire career, and then this season only, he makes 6 interceptions against nobodies and 1 in a LOSS, while not covering his man; and frequently making bad reads. Then, as stated, takes plays off. Not NFL. Not. We need him back next season. Not sure he really wanted to stay. 13-1 with or without him.
Not that highly regarded coming out of high school. Played linebacker in high school and rushing quarterback, where I don’t think he breaks the starting line-up for us at linebacker, and he was never given any carries at running back despite all our issues all season long, indeed with all our issues all 4 years Bacarri Rambo has been on our campus.
