Bulldogs mixing pleasure with business during Outback Bowl (UPDATED)
TAMPA — Headed over to the “Debartolo Team Luncheon” at the Tampa Convention Center shortly. Both teams will be present, along with some of their fans.
Afterward a number of players from both teams will be available for interviews. The Bulldogs return to practice at the University of Tampa this afternoon. I’ll have some reports later this afternoon.
Yesterday afternoon and evening, Georgia and Michigan State players got the royal treatment at Busch Gardens. The Bulldogs danced with belly dancers and hand-fed giraffes at the park’s expansive Serengeti wildlife exhibit. They also got to ride some of Busch Gardens’ world famous coasters, including the gargantuan ShieKra. Nothing like seeing muscle-bound football players scream like little girls!
Told of photos that show his mouth agape in terror, linebacker Christian Robinson laughed. “Actually, I was just yawning,” he said. “I was just very tired. I wasn’t actually scared at all.”
Eventually ‘fessing up, Robinson explained: “The thing is you come over the top and it stops and for three seconds you’re staring down thinking ‘this is about to happen.’ About halfway down you start to float out of your seat and there’s nothing to hold on to. I’m trying to squeeze next to Ben to have a little more stability. It was quite a feeling in your stomach.”
Quarterback Aaron Murray was hoarse on Thursday and he said it was from all the screaming he did on the coasters Wednesday night, particularly on the Sheikra, which features a 90 degree drop and reaches 70 miles per hour. “That was bad; I was freaking out. It was awful.”
Overall, the Georgia players said they have been having a blast in Tampa, including getting a good bit of free time to enjoy the area.
“We’re operating under a curfew,” junior nose guard John Jenkins said. “Everything is organized and we’re obliging by the curfew. It’s a pretty reasonable curfew. We’re going to have a good time within the rules.”
They’ll have to enjoy the freedom while it lasts as the attitude will turn increasingly serious as the Jan. 2 game against Michigan State looms closer.

@WDE…sorry if I came across like a spoilsport…trust me, if anyone’s touchy about a 6 month absence of college football it’s me. In all seriousness, it is good to see the guys enjoying themselves in Tampa…from what I’ve heard they’ve been really focused/sharp in practice too. Hopefully they come into the game well-prepared, but loose and ready to leave it all on the field come Monday afternoon.

I could not tell you why they are so over confident. They, for the most, part seem to think that we have played no one and any good team we played we got beat. Can’t blame them much, but I think they are in for a rude awakening.

DIT do you go on any other Dawg foes blogs? I hit Miami, VT, Clemson, and UGA(but it is local paper). I hit Mike Vick fans in Philly and of course NoLa.com to hit the SAINTS. I did read some of the NoLa.com stuff on the LSU site about the SEC CG against UGA. Man they were abusive before and after that game.

Uga players are at zoo playing, and submitting there paperwork for the nfl. Mich.st. players are practicing hard and getting ready to put another beating on Richt and his clown coaching staff. This will be the 4th good team that Richt has played, and it will be the 4th loss for this wonderful coach. Yet, McGarity is going to reward him with a raise and extention, and yet he is getting his ass handed to him in recruiting in his state. Only one commitment from the top 11 players in state. Bama and Saban is kicking richt’s ass in state, Jenkins, Ball, Lee, Greene, the tight end from Buford, the top corner in the state, i probably forgot someone, but at least 4 top 100 players from state committed to bama, and next year the top 2 players in the country are from ga, and both are committed to bama. Yet this clown deserves a raise and an extention. Richt is a joke, and UGA will never win an SECC as long as he is in charge. Plus the fact that half of UGA’s junior’s on defense are thinking about jumping to nfl, only tells you what the hell is going on in athens. Other coaches protect under classmen from agents and runners, yet Richt and his clown coaching staff have no clue who these people are. UGA=Joke, it should be getting old to UGA fans to sit and watch Bama, Auburn, Tenn, and Florida rape the state of top 100 players, yet UGA fans only sit there and applaud Richt and his pathetic coaching staff and his ability to recruit top talent when it really matters the most. Good luck UGA fans, after watching your wonder boy get his ass handed to him again on the field by the 4th team UGA played that was a decent team.

Then, you state that there are not any interesting match-ups in bowl games.
