Schedule sets up well for the Dawgs again, but that Mizzou game can’t be taken lightly. 1st SEC game for the Tigers in Mizzou coupled with UGA’s typical slow start could be a nightmare for Dawg fans. The Mizzou fans will be JACKED for that game. But after that, it looks like the only other tough game is at USC. Could be another good year for the Dawgs…especially since USC has to play both Ark and LSU from the West.

Aaron Murray wins 10 games again. He makes all kinds of records. He leaves for the NFL to Much Hype and Accolades only to SUCK when he actually has to play against Good teams every week.
People should say MURRAY is a QB GOD with the schedules he faces, but he is yet to win a BIG game against a Good team.

The SEC does not set all of the games. The Coaches do most of it. This is the weakest schedule I have seen Georgia play in a long time. I guess when they got waxed by LSU they didn’t want to play them anymore….

The only games teams get to set are OOC retard. Not our fault that the SEC decided to add 2 teams and take away Bama from our schedule.

You do know though that the schedule rotates so eventually we will be playing bama and LSU and Arky.

Do research before you post nerds. Figured that would be easy for you people.

The SEC does set all SEC games. The SEC teams have no say so really in that process, except I am sure that UGA & Auburn specifically asked that they do not have their annual game broken up, since they have played each other every single year they have had a team. .

The schools are only in charge of scheduling non-conference games.

Chip, this isn’t the ‘natural’ rotation at all. Sources have all said this is a transitional schedule for 2012.
If it were ‘natural’, USC wouldn’t be dropping a home game against MSU (return trip from Starkville last year) to play LSU in Tiger Stadium.

2) If UGA were a “bad” team, would they be favored in the majority of their games in the first place?

3) When talking about stacked “home” scheduling, why does no one bring up all those seasons where UT and UF would only play 3 games outside of their respective home state on their way to SECCs and MNCs?

UGA fans shouldn’t get so excited about not having SC as the first conference game next year — Missouri won’t be a walkover, especially at home and especially in their first SEC game, where they will be primed to make an impression on the rest of the conference. I still think UGA will be favored in that game, but let’s not forget the Oklahoma State opener a few years ago — Mizzou deserves our respect.

Also note that the OOCS is going in the model of Florida when they elect to not schedule to OOC games. McGarity simply borrowed the model from Foley and Meyer. Seemed to have worked nicely for UF. So let the crying begin for another year about our easy schedule.

Well you cant have it both ways. It wasnt to long ago many in the fanbase wanted to play tougher teams so Evans went out and scheduled the Arizona States,Oklahoma States,Clemson, Louisville and Oregon. Now the Lousivlle and Oregon games have not nor will be played. The philosophy has changed in Athens and I believe it is for the better. Why go out risk playing OOC games and wrecking the season when the SEC schedules for the most part prove to be a gauntlet in the first place. Trolls are the only ones whining about this schedule.

The NFL doesn’t play for make believe Championships. The BCS championship is as arbitrary as a chocolate tomato. You rely on computer polls, coaches polls, ap polls, and I need a beat polls. Instead of getting a real playoff system. College teams changing conferences for money, but it’s amateur sport. Only college football fans can fall for a system like the BCS. Because no true sports fan will accept a bias system that operates that way. Yes I will keep the NFL, product in the LAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Couldn’t have said it better myself. Why play tough OOC games when you already have to play in the toughest conference. If these other conferences would catch up then maybe SEC teams would have incentive to beef up their schedule. Until then the smartest thing to do in the SEC is to schedule the weakest OOC schedule you can, try to go 12-0, try to win the SECC and be a lock for the title game. Doing anything else would be…..well uncivilized.

In Georgia’s defense before 2011 even kicked off. Boise State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Florida, Mississippi State and Auburn were viewed as toss ups with Georgia projected as underdogs in 4 of the 6. Nobody could have predicted the mess or total collapse of Tennessee, Florida or Auburn. Miss State looking back on it was a decent win but they did not live up to the preseason hype and stumbled during the first half. We werent crying the blues for them at that time.

Dawgs will never be elite so long as they continue to dodge the best teams. Know why LSU, Bama (and yes, Auburn) stay at the top? Because they have to play each other every year. Meanwhile Georgia plays Vandy and Kentucky every year. To be the best, ya gotta play and beat the best.

Georgia is living right…managed to miss LSU, Alabama AND Arkansas for the 2nd straight season. Don’t even have to play Texas A&M. That’s a 12-0 season with a trip to the Georgia Dome to play LSU or Bama.

Its called they are in the West and we are in the east. With 7 teams (And you have to play ALL 6 others in your division) on each side and only 8 conf games it makes it hard to do the rotation dont you think? Do research then post people its getting pathetic that you people know nothing about football.

Good teams in the SEC

Out of the 2nd list, Florida is down but they will be back. Auburn is rebuilding, Georgia is a good team but is always play for 3rd or 4th place. On the 2nd list of teams, could any of those teams beat Oregon State, the real USC, Oklahoma State, or Boise State………….NO

Ok True Dog, you played Boise State, they blew you out of the water in your own backyard. The East division in the SEC sucked this past year, you won by default and look at what happen when you got to the Georgia Dome. Not only did I play sports, but I played D-1 basketball. Can we please drop Buffalo or Florida Atlantic for better teams? How about an ACC or Big 12 team? Alabama would have almost certainly beat us, especially if Richardson comes back, so I don’t mind us dropping them, but our non-conference schedule should not be that easy!

Not sure if anyone has said this yet but that schedule looks like the makings of 12-0. 12-1 or 13-0 will depend on how well the Dawgs play. 12-2, 13-1, or 14-0 will depend on who the Bowl game is against and again, how well the Dawgs are playing.

First of all Georgia did not “DROP” Alabama to pick up Mizzou. We have an every year game with Auburn and Ole Miss owed the Dawgs a game in Athens. You also have to play Mizzou as they are in the East so that left Alabama out. Now, am I glad that we don’t play Alabama, sure, who wouldn’t be? And as far as you idiot moron Tech fans getting on here and complaining about the Georgia schedule, why don’t you step up to the plate and schedule Alabama, or LSU or even South Carolina instead of Troy, or Middle Tenn? We have a ton of young guys on defense who could be starting for other teams and a bunch of talent coming in… defensively we almost always reload. Richardson will be nearly impossible to replace, I’ll give you that. McCarron, like Murray, is just a sophomore and has plenty of room to improve. He is much better than he was early in the season.

This Schedule has the making of a COACH KILLER. How long was Richt’s extension? If UGA isn’t in the DOME with 1 loss or less it should surprise everybody. If the Dawgs are not in the DOME at all Richt & Bobo really have to go. The Dawgs better win cause Murray, Jarvis, and Charles will be gone for sure after next year and 13 will be stiff.
The SEC and the ACC MUST go to 9 game conference schedules keeping the traditional OOC In State Rivals like GT v UGA, FSU v UF & CU v USC. That should force the other SEC/ ACC teams to play a difficult OOC opponent in kind and that would leave only 2 OOC CUP CAKES on SEC & ACC team schedules.
That is 9 Conference Games
1 hard OOC game
1 easy FBS Game
1 FCS Game
That would make the cost of season tickets worth it.

There was a time when UT, AU, Fla games were powerhouses and almost guaranteed losses for the DAWGS. I didn’t include Tech as they are usually just a cut above New Mexico State. Just a bowl game scrimmage. The east is definitely down, but can’t fault UGA for that. Welcome MIZZ! Glad to have you in the best conference in the USA- winners of 5 (guaranteed to be 6, soon) straight national titles. Sorry ACC fans, you are still just the ACC.

Look at at LSU this year. Their schedule was the hardest and hence, no one is arguing who the best team in the land is.

I see your point and yes it would be nice to not hear all the haters, but go back and look at some of the previous winners and see how they won it. Lots of those you will see 3-4 cup cake OOc games and then getting lucky with which SEC teams they were forced to play that year. Not many have had to go through what LSU did this year. (Bama def didnt even come close to as tough a schedule)

Depending on one’s point of view this is wonderful or terrible. If UGA blows through this schedule the talking heads will say they should and rank them low because of a “light” schedule; however, if we tank on a few then we will be overrated and the “Fire Mark Richt” contingency will be gnashing their teeth. IF all of our non seniors come back and we get a few good recruits plus BoBo taking “In Game adjustments 101″, we might do just fine. There is no excuse for us not repeating as SEC East Champs though.

The Mizzou game will not be easy by any stretch. Their mobile passing QB will be a Junior and he has alot of yards both passing and rushing. Their #1 RB is also a Junior (their QB is the #2 rusher). Their #1 & #3 WRs will be Seniors, however they are losing their #2 receiver, who was their TE. Still, a veteran college skill set. The bad news for them is they are losing Seniors on the offensive line (LG, RG, RT). It should be a great game.

There are no cupcake schedules in the SEC. There are only degrees of hard. If you are not ready to play, anyone can beat you on any given day. This is not the Mountain West or the Big Least. That said, it is one of the less difficult schedules in the SEC.

And why do Tech fans feel the need to come over here and antagonize especially after they got there arses handed to them. I don’t care enough about them to even look at the articles related much less post a comment. They are irrelevant.

You must be delusional or using the same dope that your runningbacks are using. You brag about the SEC but won’t play the top schools in the SEC. When you do, you get beatdown like Rodney King vs LAPD.

UGA do not want any of Southern Cal(period) Play Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, or Virginia Tech. When you put schools like that on your schedule, then, the rest of college football might take you seriously. You are trying to backdoor your way into a NC game. You sit there and screem SEC SEC every year. But when people take a closer look at your schedule, you don’t play anybody.

There’s a reason why College football is a regional sport and the NFL is a Global Sport.

The main thing that Georgia need’s to concentrate on in 2012 is to NOT lose to a team they are suppose to beat. This year they took care of business and won all the game’s they were suppose to win and that was a great thing when you don’t have a reliable field goal kicker.
First time in many year’s that we actually went for forth down instead of kicking a field goal when we were in range on more occasion’s than I would like. I hope that Marshall , part of this year’s recruiting class, will get us back to what has always been a strong point for Georgia.

UGA does not have any reason to defend or apologize for this schedule. I don’t recall any sympathy given to us in ‘08 when we had to go to Baton Rouge to play LSU as well as Alabama at home, along with roadies at Arizona State, South Carolina and Auburn.
Schedules flux from year to year — but ultimately we know that we have to strap it on against Florida, Tennessee, Auburn, SC, and Tech every single year. Some years we get easier games against the SEC West — but Arkansas, ‘Bama or LSU (one of them) come on every other year approximately — but we’d still have to beat them in the SECCG to advance to any consideration of the NC.
We’ve played our share of ooc tough games — ASU, Colorado, OSU, etc… The SEC alone is more than enough of a challenge — until some type of 8-16 team playoff system comes into play, we year-in/out have a plenty tough enough and demanding schedule.

The problem was no SEC team could win out better than 2002 OSU(12-0) v Miami(12-0) or Texas or USC. See when UGA won the SEC on 2002 you only lost to Florida but beating Northwestern State(9-4), New Mexico State(7-5), Clemson(7-5), and GT(7-5) did get you any respect.

I love watching Bama lose, but to say UGA has Sabans number is laughable ever since that blackout joke. What was the score at half again?

I want to hear someone say I’d rather UGA play Bama at Bama and seriously mean it. But everyone knows UGA dodged a bull… shotgun blast. UGA had 10 wins against teams that either always suck or had very bad rebuilding years. as soon as they played a good team, a team with a mediocre offense, it was a blowout with pick 6s, fumbles, personal fouls and special team losses.

Well seeing as he has a losing record against Richt…… doesnt that mean Richt has his number??? Saban mustered one win congrats ahhahaha. I bet if we had won the 30 before it you would still crow about the ONE win hahaha.

Run that table, all the polls will rank us in the top 5. In case, you’ve never noticed, that is the single most unfair part of the polls. They ALWAYS vote based upon what the EXPECTATIONS of the Won / Lost Record will be.

13-1. That will get you top 5 ranking, and with NO OPPONENT on the entire schedule, the only loss we have in when we do play a real opponent. That would be an SEC West team other than the bottom-feeders we have on the schedule. 750 miles West and North, that would be SEC West Missouri, right ? 1,500 miles roundtrip. How much are the tickets ? Go to Memphis and go North and West. More than one day drive any way you figure it. So, 3 days to go to the game. Plus I presume we’d want to stay there and do something.

What do you do in Columbia Missouri ? What a joke.

Can we stop by Boise State while were there ? Boise State has a tougher schedule than this.

No one is even remotely scared to play Bama. LSU will dominate the west anyways and face us for a fourth time in the SECG where we even the series in that game to 2-2.

Another FYI, teams change from year to year, ya know lose players, coaches, add coaches and other players that sort of thing that changes a team. With bama losing richardson and already having a typical terrible QB at the helm your offense will be even worse than it already was which is hard to do.

So really its just a one horse race for the west this year.

It is called taking the path of least resistance. If they make it through the season undefeated, you will hear all the talking heads on ESPN repeat that line, so you better get used to it. Don’t want to hear it next December when you complain that you are not being considered for a shot at the title. Same reason Boise State with 1 loss played an un-ranked opponent last week. No difference, and you can’t use the ‘we play in the toughest conference in football’ excuse if you don’t play the toughest teams.

This is the perfect set up. Richt gets his contract extension, UGa runs the table, gets their brains beat in again in the SEC-C game, gets their brains beat in in their bowl game, schedule then toughens up, gets your brains beat in on a regular basis during the regular season and are on the hook for Richt’s contract. True Dog Fan, I certainly know what I’m talking about when I say getting “your brains beat in.” I watched the LSU/UGa game at the Dome. That was “getting your brains beat in” on national TV for all to see.

Actually it wasnt. Held them to 0 first downs and 25 yards in first half. And a total of 30 passing yards all game. They won bc of turnovers and short fields. they had 2 long drives all game. So you might wanna retool ur def of getting brains beat in DA.
