Isaiah Crowell ‘under weather’ for Georgia’s first practice in Tampa

TAMPA — Back at my room after Georgia’s first Outback Bowl practice. Will be posting some reports later this afternoon. For now, here’s what you need to know:

  1. Tailback Isaiah Crowell is “feeling under the weather,” according to coach Mark Richt, and was standing on the sidelines and not participating, at least for the open part of practice early on. His left ankle apparently is not an issue and he will be able to play in the game.
  2. Richt said Ken Malcome enters the week No. 1 on the tailback depth chart but that it’s “a highly competitive situation” with Richard Samuel (ankle) coming back and Crowell and Carlton Thomas healthy. “I hope Ken hangs on,” Richt said. “That’d be good for him.”
  3. Speaking of Samuel, he was practicing full speed and appeared pretty agile. Said he’s eager to get back on field after being sidelined since the last play of his impressive effort against Florida.
  4. Wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell acknowledged there has been some kind of preliminary discussion about him possibly playing some cornerback next season. However, offense would still be his primary role.
  5. “If I think that it’ll help us win and he can function and do that, that’d be fine,” Richt said. “We have a few guys that play both ways but we try to have them focus on one position. If they have enough of a comfort level knowing what to do, we can begin to share a little bit. I wouldn’t be against it.” . . . Defensive end DeAngelo Tyson (ankle) didn’t practice but is expected to before game per Richt. . . . Linebacker Michael Gilliard worked out on side in green (non-contact) jersey but seemed confident he’d be able to go. Said he ran full speed on ankle escaping from a bull while “cow-tipping” in Valdosta over holiday. . . . Punter Drew Butler was full go after being sidelined with a left ankle injury for Georgia’s practices in Athens. Butler injured his non-punting foot while walking in slick, tuxedo shoes before UGA’s Senior Gala. . . . Georgia practiced in full pads under a light rain on the University of Tampa’s Rood Field at Pepin Stadium. It’s a soccer pitch they converted into a football field, complete with temporary goal posts. . . . Georgia is practicing under a huge banner that says “S-P-A-R-T-A-N-S.” That’s the mascot for Tampa. It also happens to be Michigan State’s team name. “I just saw that when we got off the bus,” Richt said.
This is the name in front of which the Bulldogs are practicing this week at the University of Tampa.

Crowell will play and I think he will play big in this bowl game. Next year. he will be in better shape and more mature. This has been a rough year on this kid, and people expected too much of him. He might have even been better off to red shirt, if circumstances had allowed. Marshal and he are going to do quite well together I believe. Add another running back, and we will have five guys that can carry the ball. Here is hoping we don’t need to depend on Thomas in the future.

All the uga fans that hate on crowell, needs to be careful and needs to just shut up!
Why, because without him in the future, UGA goes no where. Isaiah is one of those types of players who they call an X-factor and Game Changer. This guy had some issues this year and instead of supporting him, 90% of bulldawg supports were killing this kid!!!! I agree he def needs to be punished and he was!!! So shut up about him cause he is the Future Of UGA FOOTBALL and they are not a BCS contender without him. Its was his first year and he learned alot and he will get his 1000 yards this year or pretty dang close!!! I love our new recruit Keith Marshall, but when these guys compete in the spring it will be no comparison. Isaiah will show this guy a thing or two and maybe Keith Marshall will show him a thing or two off the field!!! They will be a great 1-2 punch but Crowell is the future!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go nowhere without him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We don’t need superstars to make the offense go. Just big, hard-running, backs. I’d love for IC to get 20 carries, but at this point, I don’t think he would give us 20 carries, before he took himself out of the game.

Mitchell was a very good defensive back in high school and I think I read that was his natural position before he was tried at receiver because of his quick burst of speed and was so successful was left there and he played both way’s. The problem was that Malcome didn’t decide to actualy be a part of the team till a few weeks ago, and it took Samual a while to remember how to run downhill. But just Based on production and results, we are much better off with a healthy Crowell and Thomas.

Just saying we cannot beat MSU if Samuel and Malcome are getting the majority of snaps. Samuel is not a running back, his best game was against UF and how many yards did he have??? Im just saying UGA will not Beat MSU with those 2 running backs! MSU front 4 can handle Malcome and Samuel, what does that mean, that means Aaron Murray will have no passing game!!!!

Mich St got supremely shafted by getting the Outback Bowl and they won’t have many fans there. They aren’t going to care at all about this game. See Mich St’s bowl game from last year if you want a preview. UGA should win by two touchdowns or more.

We seem to get more players hurt from scooters and tux shoes than from on-field injuries!

Since Coach Bobo seems to get super-conservative in bowl games, I hope that all of the backs are healthy and our NFL-sized line figures out how to run block consistently! The only way Murray even throws 30 passes in the game is if the Spartans are 10 points or more up on us by halftime. IF we can move the ball on the ground, at least 3 TBs should get enough carries…. and the fullbacks will combine for 1 carry or less. Unfortunately, our talented group of Mitchell, Charles, T. King, Bennett, Conley, Brown and White may combine for about 15-17 catches due to our conservatism. A wide-open, “foot on the gas pedal” offense would be more fun to watch, but is very unlikely to happen unless we are way behind. ……GO DAWGS!!

I don’t think most players care what the fans think of them, especially the ones that post on a blog. I think they probably laugh at most of the crap typed on these things, that’s if someone tells them what’s posted in the first place.

Most of the athletes know that they will be cheered if they do well and the team wins, and boo’d if they don’t.

Gotta get real, man. I.C. will be pattin’ his head so fast during the bowl game folks will think the snare-drums in the band started early. Give the guys who want to play and who will pay the price the chance. If there were goal-posts on the sidelines, I.C. would have broken all scoring records with his patented sideline dash. I do think he will adjust next year, but he has a long way to go with his attitude and character (or lack-thereof) issues. Malcome and Samuel in the same backfield will be great. Maybe Crowell can watch players with perhaps less ability but more desire make it happen and take a valuable lesson into next year.

“Butler injured his non-punting foot while walking in slick, tuxedo shoes before UGA’s Senior Gala. . . .” No matter what kind of shoes you wear in a barn it can be slippery because of the animals. I don’t think Coach should have let our punter go to the Senior Gala where the risk of injury is so severe.

Although I think Crowell will gain a little maturity in the offseason, he had better make sure he doesn’t succumb to merely feeling under the weather by the time next year rolls around. Richt is a great guy and cares about his players, but Crowell will plummet on the depth chart if he can’t exhibit toughness. With all running backs returning, along with the early arrival of Keith Marshall, Crowell doesn’t have much room to mess around.

Stinger2 actually has a good point! Crowell is a young kid and has a family. We have NO IDEA why he is sidelined. He could have a fever and fears spreading any illness to his teammates, which would be worse! He could have ANYTHING imaginable. He’s a kid, he makes mistakes (so do all of you), but the fact is that he lead the team in rushing and only played about half the time. He’s got skills! Better to let him mature and see where the cards land. LEAVE HIM ALONE.

AltamahaDawg,
Watch and learn…..haulin’butt after contact and bad attitudes (talking smack after a run on a high-school-caliber defense) are just a few things that he needs to adjust. Watch Samuels and Malcome, learn what desire is and be ready when the team needs you. If you want this kid to succeed he needs to learn humility, determination, and desire. Talent carries you only so far. And remember, lots of those yards came at garbage time! (Not all, but many!) He (hopefully) will learn. But he hasn’t showed any improvement so far. He came in heralded, got some yards, but wasn’t there when it counted. Forget the ankle injury…his need for a learning curve showed up way before that injury!

How can someone who is always on the sidelines, for whatever reason, be an X-factor or a game changer. It’s always something with this kid. As for UGA going nowhere without Crowell? Please, UGA was playing football for more than a hundred years before Crowell was even born. UGA will still be playing football long after he is dead and gone.

Just my opinion, but I think this game needs to be a statement game for each team going into next year on where they will stand in the pecking order in their respective league. This is not going to be an easy win for either team (well unless Bobo decides to go conservative all game long)
If Dawgs run for over 200 yards as a team they win. If not Sparty wins.
Murray needs this game more than any other Dawg on that field. It’s true, he has yet to beat a good team in 2 years. He needs this game. If he can come out like he did against Auburn and we run for 200 plus yards it will be fun to watch.
Too bad that there has been no consistancy in both areas in our offense. Let’s hope Monday they can put a full game together.
Go Dawgs!

Malcome QUIT the team this year. If he starts paying for his keep in this game he is 2 years in debt behind Crowell. Samual is a DGD, but as a RB, he is a LB, except for about 1 quarter this year.

NEITHER one of those guys are in Tampa right now, without Crowell.

how2fish, you are so right! We have GOT to establish the run and control the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. Mich State looks like a mirror image of South Carolina to me, and it will be a good test to see where he stand and where we need to focus for next season.

Crowell has the skills to be a game-changer but we are not doomed without him. I’d like to see him step-up and come out fiesty next week to at least calm some of the animosity against him. He brought it on himself, but hopefully he can learn and focus on competition and getting better. One good sign is that his grades were good enough to play in the bowl…so he is doing something right. Lets give the kid a break and hope he can run wild versus a very solid Spartan team.

@Joe, you are correct one person does not win ballgames, but IC could be a big boost for UGA if he can play up to his potential.(potential is the key word there)
Personally I think he will next year and he could help make a difference. Now there will be 4 top running back going for the #1 running back in. Samuel, Malcome, IC & Marshall. This competition will make each one of them better.
People need to lay off IC. He is an 18 year old KID! There is not one person on here that can make a claim that they thought clearly as an 18 year old. Now, I’m not making excuses for IC for he needs to get with the program no doubt, but for adults slamming an 18 year old KID…… That’s clueless and uncalled for.

@Evansdawg well said, we need the big backs but we won’t be able to just ram the ball down Mich St’s throat. They were perhaps the best defense in the Big whatever and have pretty much shut down one dimensional running attacks. However we can use the big men and IC to keep them off balanced and use play action to get the ball to OC, Mitchell, White etc.

It really doesn’t matter who’s running the ball for UGA. If we are successful with the run, Bobo will abandone it for the sake of balance and the idea of keeping the opposing D honest. Bobo does the same in our passing game if we are killing them there. It’s like he looks at our yardage totals and adjusts according to that alone. I wouldn’t care if we ran the same play all game long if their D couldn’t stop it.

When I was an 18 year old kid I knew right from wrong hence I didn’t do drugs with my buddies. I also knew when I got handed a silver platter (scholarship) to hang on to it tight (I.E. do my school work and listen to my coach). Let’s face it: IC wants the glory without the sweat. He’s a malingerer, period. Get rid of the dead weight and get some people in here that will suck it up and play when a little hurt.

Does anyone expect anything different now from IC? He went back home to Columbus, hung out with his homeboys and the element that is Muscogee County Clown Posse.

Next item, I see everyone keeps howling about Keith Marshal. Good news there, he apparently is a great deal smarter and better prepared for college than IC was. He will need to pack on some major muscle to compete in the SEC play for 12 games.

The OL still seems to be the future weak link for UGA. Even with Theus it is going to be much harder for the holes to open up, and make those long routes throws.

First, Mitchell was rated #1 CB for good reason and the fact that he turned out to be a big threat receiver who will develop his routes and across the middle catches in traffic is something few if any could have foreseen coming until he showed up last summer. People knew Champ was a good athlete but he played QB at Charlton as well, few projected him to be the receiver he grew to be, but give Mitchell another year to develop and then make comparisons. It took time for Champ too, Mitchell may be the better athlete in the end, he has a gear very few hit, throw a ball he has to go after instead of waiting for and you`ll see that explosion. Greene can blow by virtually any CB in the NFL, according to his coaches, Mitchell has more zip than Greene. If he played some corner he`d be hard to shake for any receiver. To say Samuel is a second tier SEC runner is foolish, watch the Fl tape. He`s a power back, and has excellent burst for 240 lbs. Every team has a combo of speed and power backs to mess with a defense, refer to Ala, Lsu, for starters. Next year look for both, especially when the freshmen develop and learn the system. If Davis and Gurley commit, everyone would get carries, provide fresh legs, a change of pace and become a D coord nightmare like Lsu did this year. Add the big FB for I sets, and you become the relentless unpredictable ofense that wasn`t on the field in the dome against Lsu. taht game may have been very different with Samuel able to pound short first downs.Crowell will grow with time, give him a chance, talent`s great but refer to heart ie Pollack. not everybody has that out of HS. Be a fun game Monday!!

Give me a Malcome sized back anyday over a guy like Crowell. IC has mucho talent, but apparently is overwhelmed, for now at least, by the physical nature of SEC fb. Pound Malcome and Samuel for three quarters, by the fourth quarter the 3 and 4 yard runs turn into 8 and 9 yarders, sometimes much longer. And, of course, Bobo loves to play action pass. He just hasn’t figured out that without a pounding, relentless running game the play action is useless.

Who’s the bigger disappointment? IC or Falcons last night. Truth be told I’m not shocked at either. Next year’s cometition will make or break this kid. Bet with my head and he’s gone by season end either from discipline or academics. Bet with my heart we have a movie of the week moment and you see him running in slow motion cheered on by adoring caucasian fans charging over would be LSU tacklers, life turned around, scoring the winning touchdown and leaping into CMR’s arm’s even as he shoves aside his post game smooch with his wife Seriously, which one do you think more likely? Will we see him prance across the stage at graduation flipping his tassle to the left side, waving and smiling to his oodles of fans, dressed to the nines, suma cum laud and headed to a millionair’s life or will he end up standing behind some local package store with Waushan Ealey passing a blunt and drinking 40s waiting on Caleb King to pick them up so they can go hit another “lick” to get money for crack. Which one do you really think is most likely. Working as a pot-bellied county employee in a green jumper with his first name on the right shirt pocket embroidered in red collecting his 36 g annual salary and benefits to help feed his brood of squalling brats or strutting across the stage in NYC two years from now receiving the Heisman and dreaming of glory in the NFL and maybe even a side career in rap. If you really think about how these kids’ lives play out either scenario is on the horizon. We’ve seen it time after time after time at UGA and everywhere else. Think about the kid from Ohio State that wound up in prison after breaking all kinds of freshmen records at OSU. Or the dude name Lawrence (Can’t remember his his name) from Nebraska, 2nd pick in NFL draft, out of football within a couple of years and prison bound. Clearly Caleb King is spoken for and I bet I’m not too far off. Waushan Ealey’s story has not been finished but it will be when he leaves Savannah State. We’ll know very soon about IC. 1.That he had to overcome some issues, his fortunes have been squarely on him, and is very thankfull to have a coach Like Richt.

OR

2.He has been 100% on board since he had a great camp and proved he was ready to contribute BUT Richt holding him out while repeatedly using encouraging words (including in this article), talking him into NOT quiting, using a 5 foot walk on with games on the line, was just to mess with him.

Now I wonder what he would say is more likely?

I personally hope that Richard Samuel gets the start or at least a lot of playing time. The guy seems best fitted for linebacker, and previously looked like he went down easily and tripped on himself……but the light flipped on in the UF game. His exuberance and wanting the ball in the crucial aspect of the UF game for me was the highlight of the season. I felt badly that he was injured and could not bask in his accomplishments for the next games/

I hope Malcome does well. Sure it would be good for him; it would be good for us.

Crowell….REALLY hope he gets it together and has a great game and a great 2012-2013. I am not down on him. I know it is not easy being a freshman with that kind of pressure and his ability is apparent. He has a lot to learn and many things he needs to unlearn. If he had turned his back on Coach Dooley as he did CMR in the SECCG, he would no longer be a Georgia Bulldog.

If Mitchell is a better cornerback than a wide receiver, then I am certainly going to enjoy watching him even more than I thought next year.

Hellerrrr!….MSU is used to the big so called bruising backs that Malcome and Samuel are…They see that every week up north…..What they don’t see is the speed that the southern teams posess….Just look at what Bama did to them last year……The physical part they can hang with but where the SEC gets them is in the speed game therefore I would much prefer to see a healthy IC in the backfield than the alternatives…..anyway, he’s already shown us flashes of what he can do when healthy and I think he truly is striving to be the best RB he can be…..His ego wont let him fail himself……The mental mistakes he can fix himself as I’m sure he will, but he was’nt physically prepared for the rigors of SEC play this soon considering he was used to racking up 200 + yards in the first half at Carver then sitting out the rest of games…..Just my oppinion

I AGREE LAY OFF THE KID!!!!!!

Lets address the first comment. I think you may be smoking some of the same stuff IC did earlier this year. Swapping road games with Alabama and Missouri does make it a little bit easier for UGA, but early in the year on the road against a team that is going to return 18 starters who throws it like Arkansas but with a quarterback similar to Cam Newton but only a freshman will make that road game much tougher. Then later on USC in the other Columbia is not going to get any easier. All that does is give Lattimore a few more weeks to get healthy and more than likely will be played in the 6 p.m. time slot.

Second comment: Lay off the kid! No.1, he is not a kid any longer, he wanted to be treated like an adult when he broke rules and decided the drugs were more important than playing football. There is a difference between being a kid and acting like one, and everyone will agree he as ACTED more like a kid than he has looked like an adult.

Crowell will be fine, in the bowl game and next year. He had a tough year, the expectations he faced were insane. But overall I think he ran the ball well and showed that he has a lot of talent and potential. I expect him to have a very good season next year. A offseason in the S&C program will do wonders for him, along with Keith Marshall pushing him to play better

“[Crowell] has already proven more than once that he lacks the toughness to play in the SEC”. AND “It wouldn’t bother me at all if he were not a Bulldog next year.” Are you out of your mind!? This 5-star recruit just won the SEC Freshman of the Year award and had one of the highest yardage totals for a freshman ever at UGA. And you wouldn’t care if he was gone? Me thinks you are not a very good judge of talent and are giving up on a potential superstar WAY too soon. What is this that posting on this blog, is providing ammunition for our opponents, by suggesting that we haven’t beat the teams who finish in the top 25 ?

LSU Wins in games over teams finishing top 25 if beat AL :
1-Oregon # 6 AP
2-West Virginia # 23 AP
3-Alabama # 2 AP
4-Arkansas # 7 AP
5-Georgia # 18 AP
6-Alabama # 2 AP

-Of the 6 if they beat AL, 4 games won vs teams finish AP Poll Top 10.

Auburn, last year wins in games over teams finishing top 25 :
1-Missy State # 15 AP
2-Sakerlina # 22 AP
3-Arky # 12 AP
4-LSU # 8 AP
5-Alabama # 10 AP
6-South Carolina # 22 AP
7-Oregon # 3 AP

-Of the 7 games won vs top 25 three are top 10

The last team we beat finishing in the top 10 was 2006 when we beat # 9 Auburn and lost 4 games including to 8-Loss Vandie, six seasons ago; while Auburn beat 3 teams who finished top 10 last year; and while LSU has already won 3 games vs teams who finish top 10 this season.

The last time we beat a team who finished in the top 25, was 2009, three seasons ago when if we had not beat Georgia tek, they would have VACATED the win.

We played 5 teams last year and with Michigan State now this season, we have played 4 teams this season who end up top 25. Auburn has -0- votes in the AP; cannot finish top 25. Georgia tek is # 30 in the AP (#29 Coaches’) and faces a cruddy UNRANKED Utah who posted a LOSING RECORD IN THEIR CONFERENCE with the # 87 Strength of Schedule. Neither have any hope of being ranked. Aaron Murray LOST all 8 to-date. In fact, he looked his very worst in all 8 losses, including being YANKED in his last game. Chris Low states : “One of the best ways to evaluate a coach is to examine how he’s done against quality competition. Usually, the best way to determine if a team was indeed a quality opponent is judging how that team fared over the course of the entire season.”

We beat no one.

Again.

While the top teams beat 6 and 7 top 25 teams in one year alone and 3 or 4 teams who finish top 10. In 11 years, Mark Richt is 17-27 vs teams finishing top 25 and 3-11 vs teams finishing top 10.

Uh, we’re not very good. We haven’t been very good. The posters who are providing ammo on this blog are the ones BRAGGING Aaron Murray Heisman Trophy next year, Aaron Murray 1st Round NFL Draft Pick after next season, National Championship UGA next year, and SEC Champions next year. By stark contrast, I state succinctly that instead, we need to GATA, and we must transmit that to the coaches, players and fans drinking the Kool-Aid, and point out my prediction of 11-3 looks pretty good compared to your own predictions. Ok, so I went to UGA and graduated with honors and I was yes a walk-on. I go to the games and you do not. I played the game and you have never demonstrated any knowledge of any of this.

But, what do I know compared to you ?

Well, I know that fans who CENSOR others from saying what they think are stuck with the fact, that they CANNOT.

We don’t beat the good teams; we don’t beat the great teams; we didn’t this season other than South Carolina lose to teams we should not have when we have done that 17 times in 11 years too to teams none of whom end up top 25 without their win over Mark Richt.

But, Bryan McClendon and Mark Richt recruited Keith Marshall. Mark Richt should have been given his extension 3 weeks ago when I 1st demanded it then. And, if he looks like a marionette, and you call me one, don’t be surprised to see me point out that the marionette has not given him his EXTENSION yet.

What he needs to do, I am telling him; and you know that. And, what he doesn’t need to be hearing, you are telling him, which is the job is a cushy job where

BEATING NO ONE

and, being one of 26 teams who finish with 10-win season this season, is just

GREAT.

Now, is there something else you want to discuss, or just my mama wears army boots, or I am tough on those dishing it out – who obviously cannot take it.

I will be watching Crowell’s “helmet taps” during this bowl game. He is supposedly healthy and he will have had a month to recover from whatever was his problem in the SEC Championship game. I remember the same frequency of requests to come out of a game from Knowshon Moreno in his short college career, and his pro career has been nothing but injuries. Sometimes toughness cannot be instilled in a player because they just don’t have the body to handle the punishment.

Obviously the pro scouts will be watching for those helmet taps too.

btruth, uga doesn’t have a chance if crowell doesn’t get 20 carries? Crowell doesn’t even want 20 carries. I would like to see a line on when crowell comes in, how many plays until he pulls himself out. The past few games he played in, it was 2 plays. I think the kid is a very talented rb, but he needs to change a lot of things if he wants to live up to his potential. First, stay out of the news off the field, there is no excuse for a positive drug test. Second, build up your stamina and make the coaches take you out of the game. When crowell wants to play, he is better at 80 percent then the rest of UGA’s back are at 100 percent. Third, don’t cry about all your little bruises and make the athletic trainers pull you out of the game, instead of you pulling yourself out of the game. Crowell’s problems are in his head, sometimes those are the hardest to fix. As for now, I would like to see a malcolm/samuel combo as the starters for the bowl game, I know malcolm had the positive drug tests, but I don’t see him tapping his head during the game, he wants to be out there. Samuel is the biggest class act on the UGA team. Sometimes hurting a team on the field to make a point will actually help a team on the field.

He’s already buried on the Depth Chart, and after all these tailbacks who did not live up to Mark Richt’s expecations of them, each and individually, except for Richard Samuel who has been flip-flopped and who hasn’t played in his career here really. So, how has Mark Richt felt about Richard Samuel at tailback here, when he has been here on campus 4 years now and averages 6 carries a game in the games he has played in, although not all of those at tailback – who did not get any carries at all last year 2010, did not get any carries this year 2011 in any of the last 5 games ankle surgery after Florida win he shined in. 2009, he got no carries in the last 4 games. And, 2008, he was a Tailback the first 4 games, then 2 games no carries, then 1 game 1 carry, then 2 more games no carries, then 1 carry the next game, 2 carries the game after that, and no carries the last 2 games of 2008.

And, Isaiah Crowell is NOT STARTING according to Mark Richt, who each previous time this was announced, Isaiah Crowell

POUTED.

02-TB Carlton Thomas – 3 suspensions
03-TB Boo Malcome – recruited here injured, Suspension too
04-TB Washaun Ealey – Jr. – Transferred to Jacksonville State
05-TB Dontavius Jackson – would be RJr transferred to UAB
06-TB Caleb King – would have been senior 2011, flunked out
07-TB Richard Samuel – ankle surgery after Florida, returns after missing 5 games

Keith Marshall changes all this, instantly and for the next 3 years. He’s already on campus and starts classes January.

I’ve got a hunch about Malcome and Samuel. Particularly Samuel. In my opinion, Samuel won the Florida game. He put the team on his back. His runs in that game were some of the most inspiring I have ever seen. Remember, we moved this kid to linebacker and he had to reach a comfort level again at running back. Then, Malcolme ran hard against LSU. Wish to heck we had run him in the early 3rd quarter.

It says here that these two emerge this spring and Crowell and the recruits move down the depth chart. I think Samuel is going to have a stellar Senior year.

6 is a LOT more than -0-

which is what we have this year and

last year as well -0-

over teams who according to Chris Low, ESPN, during the whole entire course of the season, end up top 25.

Auburn had 7 wins last season in games over teams who ended up top 25 and 3 of those (like the 3 LSU already has this year) over teams who finished up Top 10.

We had -0- wins over any team who finishes in the top 10 going all the way back six seasons ago to 2006 when we beat # 9 Auburn, losing 4 games that season including to 8-Loss Vandie.

The comparisons are STAGGERING.

And, the facts undeniable. We don’t beat the teams who end up top 25, don’t beat the teams who end up top 10 – should be – but do not.

This while the actual top teams every year get as many wins in 1 year against teams who end up top 10, as Mark Richt has in his entire bloody career here.

I remain of the opinion that the energy vampires to this football program are the ones who say

THIS IS GREAT.

This isn’t great.

Or, even good.

The pollyaannna crowell defenders just don’t get it. Why do you think Richt inserted Malcome as the #1 tailback leading up to the bowl game? Why was Richt willingly telling reporters that Malcome was #1 on the depth chart? He could have easily said that he would name a starter after the practice period leading up to the bowl game. The reason was to see if he could motivate crowell and hope that he would man up and come to practice and tear it up. But what happens? Crowell sits on the sidelines the first practice because his lil tummy hurts. Crowell is going to fade out guys just face it. If we get another top tailback to go along with marshall then crowells days are going to be numbered. Crowell= big bust.

Well coming off a season in which we finished 6-7 with I guess a 10 win season is disappointing considering all the Freshman that had key roles on offense. A QB who is only in his 2nd year as a starter. A defense that took all kinds of heat heading into the season and ended up being the back bone of the team. A OL that had little to no depth and took heat heading into the season because of apparent lack of coaching up.

The season could have been better? Sure, but hell at least we didnt sit through a 6 win season. I would as many others love to compete for MNC every year but the fact is that that is not reality. Though reality is something you would know little about. This year was something this team can build upon heading into next year if they finish off MSU and Charles/Rambo elect to come back and help this team towards a SEC Title.

You are putting the Cart before the horse. 6 win season, then a 10 win season with young developing talent and a schedule that looks to be just as favorable, BUT NO it is easier you to bemoan all the problems that this TEAM has. Big man you are.

IC has about as much chance of playing pro ball as I do. He will join countless others on the “million dollar arm/legs, ten cent brain” list. He’s hit snooze a couple of times on his wake up call.

Dumbest post of the day so far. (Hes a FRESHMAN, YOU RETARD)

“cow-tipping” in Valdosta” lmao…if Gillard had of gone to Auburn he wouldn’t have had to leave campus to do his “cow-tipping” . Of course they have another word for it at Auburn….dating.

GT Bob Go away, MSU is extremly proud and honored to be playing a national power like UGA. You must have things confused or else you are just a typical jealous tech nerd

“If Dawgs run for over 200 yards as a team they win. If not Sparty wins.”

I thought this was funny. I’ve got one, If the Dawgs score 70 points they’ll win…

Although I’m not a Dawg fan, I’ve watched several games. Samuel shows more desire than the others, and desire is what gets you that extra yard or two when you desperately need it. Crowell just has some growing up to do, but that will come (if the coaches stay on his butt).

Just like pretending not to be a Tech fan feels natural to you?

Mizzou will of course pose a stiffer challenge for the Dawgs than the Joke By Coke. Of course, Vandy does too. We should start paying the Techies big bucks for the easy W’s like we do with the D-1aa schools. Its only fair.

If Charles and Rambo return with that schedule UGA is going to be at worst a Top 10 pick. Also a darkhorse pick by many for the MNC. Schedule looks like a 10-2 at worst, possibly a 11-1 season should be easy to reach, just one game (Mizzou on road, USCe or Florida) as a trip up. 12-0 is reachable, and I am shocked I am typing it. Both sides of the ball are loaded with talent and the schedule is lined up nicely. AM and IC will get a helluva shot at shutting some critics up. Just stay healthy for 9 months Dawgs!!!

DAWGS were one bad play (USC game) and one half of football away (LSU) from being 12-1, SEC Champions, and probably playing for the NC against the Tide. At worst, playing for 3rd in the nation if we got bumped by OK St in that game. Haters go away! GO DOGGIES!

Crowell has a stomach virus and common sense (which some of you don’t have) says he should not practice and infect everybody else! He will be better and ready to go so don’t get your panties in a wad over it. Malcolm Mitchell was rated as the #1 DB by some of the rating services but he is needed at WR where he is going to be All SEC some day. Down the road, if UGA finds another deep threat WR he may move to DB but I doubt it.
