Q&A: Jarvis Jones just trying to seize the moment and enjoy his time with Dogs

NOTE TO READERS: Sorry for the lack of updates lately but I’ve been enjoying some vacation time heading into the holidays. A shorter, more condensed version of the following Q&A is running in the Sunday edition of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, but I figured I’d offer the unabridged version for the patient and loyal visitors to the UGA blog and give you one last forum for comment before I arrive in Tampa on Dec. 26. In the meantime, I’ll be hanging with the family for the holidays. Best wishes to all of you and thanks kindly for making this a regular stop.

Q&A WITH LINEBACKER JARVIS JONES

Christmas is a time for giving and receiving gifts. But where the Georgia Bulldogs are concerned, Jarvis Jones has been doling out presents all year. The sophomore linebacker from Columbus by way of Southern Cal has been a dominating force for one of the Dogs’ most dominant defenses. He has racked up 69 tackles along with an SEC-leading 13.5 sacks and 19.5 tackles for loss. He needs just one sack in the Jan. 2 Outback Bowl game against Michigan State to break David Pollack’s Georgia record for sacks in a season (14). All of this came after a tumultuous 18-month stretch in which Jones wasn’t even sure if he’d be able to play football again following a neck injury. Now the gifts are coming in for Jones. He was named a first-team All-American by at least four different outlets, including The Associated Press, the American Football Coaches Association, Walter Camp and the Football Writers Association of America. He is Georgia’s first consensus All-American on defense since Greg Blue in 2005. We sat down with Jones shortly before the Bulldogs left Athens for Christmas break to find out how he was feeling about his first season at Georgia and why, despite some extremely favorable projections, he chooses to remain a college football player. . . .

Q: Was it one of your preseason goals to earn All-America or all-conference honors?

A: “I really didn’t have any goals. I just went into the season wanting to leave everything I had out there on the field.”

Q: Is it something you even considered?

A: “No, I didn’t. I didn’t even look at it like that. I think I’m more of a team player. I just want to do everything I can to help my team out.”

Q: So how does All-American Jarvis Jones sound to you?

A: “It’s just a blessing for all of us. I know I’m the All-American but it just shows the work that we put in as a group, as a unit. It’s more than just me. Look at Bacarri Rambo. He did good work. If you go across the board on our defense, you’ll see a bunch of players that stepped up and elevated their games. So all the accolades I got, it wasn’t all me. A lot of guys stepped up to get me in position to make plays. I’m just thankful for all the people that had input on that.”

Q: What were your thoughts when you first heard about it?

A: “It’s a big honor. It’s a blessing. Anytime anybody gets an award, it’s a blessing. Look at how many football players there are every year that didn’t make it? There are a lot of good football players out there. So any time you get recognized for what you do, it’s a blessing. I’m very pleased; I’m very humbled. ”

Q: What were your personal expectations in the preseason?

A: “Preseason, I’m going to tell you, the only thing I knew was I was going to go out there and give it everything I had. I didn’t know anything about any awards, no All-American, none of that. I was just trying to prepare myself the best way I could to make plays and help my team out and give my team the best chance of winning.”

Q: Did you even fill out the NFL paperwork to receive a draft evaluation?

A: “No sir. No reason to.”

Q: Aren’t you concerned you might be shortchanging yourself?

A: “At the end of the day I think everything will work out for itself. I’m not really concerned about that. We’re still playing. We’re still in season. With all that said I’m coming back. It is what it is. I’ve just got to keep working, keep getting better.”

Q: What are some of the reasons you don’t feel the need to turn pro now?

A: “I’ve still got a lot to learn. It’s my first year at my position. I mean, I feel like I’ve got the best coach and the best group of players around me. I think we can do a lot of stuff here, some great things if we just stick together and believe in each other like we have been. The sky’s the limit for us.

“I mean, if I did go to the NFL, I could learn that way. I definitely know they’d teach me what I need to know. But here it’s just different. You’ve got guys that you’re really bonding with and that you can have fun with. When you get to the NFL, it’s a whole different level.

“I’m having fun. Being here you can mess up a couple of times. There, man, it’s serious. Them people pay you to play; we get scholarships here. The NFL, if you can’t get it right they’re going to find somebody else. Not saying that I’m not ready for it; I try to prepare myself as well as I can. But it’s just a different atmosphere being here.”

Q: Have you tried to persuade some of the other guys contemplating the NFL to come back?

A: “They know where I stand, man. It’s like I told someone earlier, when that decision comes and it’s right for you, you just have to make it for you.”

Q: You know, if you all you ‘draft-eligibles’ come back, there are going to be some huge expectations for the Bulldogs next season.

A: “Good. We need all the politics we can get so we can be No. 1 in the country next year. I mean, we want all the pub we can get, great guys coming back. Aaron Murray is a great quarterback. He works hard. I know he’s going to take us to the Promised Land. We’ve just got to keep believing.”

Q: Do you think it’s because of your difficult journey to Georgia that you just want to sit tight a while?

A: “It’s been a long time coming. Freshman year, last year, and this year has even been long for us as a team. We started struggling early on. We had some ups and downs and then came out with some close games. There’s been a lot of learning experiences for me. I’m just passionate about this game. I love being here. I love the guys I play with. I love the coaches. I just don’t think I’m ready to let that go yet.”

Q: How did your experience at USC and the very real possibility that you might be able to continue your football career affect you?

A: “You have mentors and guys older guys telling you all the time that football doesn’t last forever and you better take advantage of it. Not being able to play football, just hearing them say that over and over, it was heartbreaking, it was devastating. But now that I got the opportunity to play again, I try to give everything I’ve got. I try to seize the moment. You’ve got to seize the moment. Like they say, any play can be your last play, so you’ve got to give everything you’ve got out there on that field, practice, game, whatever.”

Q: Have you had a chance to talk to David Pollack about the Georgia sack record?

A: “I actually saw him after the SEC game. He was on the sideline and he told me to keep working hard. He told me to go get it. I told him I would.”

Q: You guys were so dominant in the first half against LSU, not even allowing a first down, then the dam kind of broke in the second half. Was there any lesson to be learned in that game?

A: “Lesson? We didn’t even watch the film of it. It was a learning experience, yes. The game is four quarters, not a half. We’ve got to keep on playing, keep on executing. They came out in the second half throwing punches and they scored, they made plays. For us, I don’t even think we got a turnover in that game. That was the biggest difference. I think if we had gotten a couple of turnovers the game would have been a lot different.”

Q: Your Columbus cohort Isaiah Crowell has been under tremendous scrutiny this season and done some things to disappoint coaches, teammates and fans. You seem to have bought in so completely to the team concept. Have you tried to talk to about it?

A: “Always. I talk to all the guys like that. They say I talk too much. It’s all good, man. I try to spread knowledge because I’ve gotten knowledge from older guys and my mentor. For Isaiah, I care about him just like a brother, just like I do for the rest of those guys. I try to keep him humble, try to get him to keep his head right, try to keep him in tunnel vision with football and academics. I’m just trying to keep him on the right path like a big brother is supposed to. I’ve told him, ‘You came here to play football. Everybody knows you’re good, but you’ve got to work harder than most. You’ve got to put yourself on a platform, not saying that you’re better than anybody, but you’ve got to have that work ethic and always be improving on something because even the best have room to improve. You always have to work.’”

Q: You guys have similar backgrounds in that you were a big-time recruit as well. How have you avoided such pitfalls?

A: “For myself, I just never got caught up in the lights. I always stayed humble. I was just so thankful for my opportunity, because it came so quick for me, from not wanting to play football to becoming one of the top linebackers in the country. So when I got to college I was the same way, just work hard, give all I have.”

Q: So do you think it’s starting to resonate with Isaiah?

A: “I think he learned a lot. He’s young. He’s still learning. I definitely think everything he’s been through and done this season has taught him a lot. I think he can use that in the near future to become a better player and a better person.”

How great would our team be if everybody on our team had the same kind of mentality that Jarvis Jones has. Jarvis is a great role model for the rest of the youngsters on the team.

Jarvis is a DGD. I have a ton of respect for him but he said it himself, football does not last forever. I am a die hard UGA fan but I am of the belief that you should always jump to the NFL if you are projected to be taken in the first round.

It sounds like JJ has his head screwed on right and a true leader. He didn’t deserve Lane Kiffin and Lane Kiffin doesn’t deserve him. Another example of why UGA should recruit character and not characters.

Hope IC learns from JJ. I know it must be tough for an 18 year old to bear the burden of the team, but guys like JJ show it can be done. JJ wasn’t “annointed” and didn’t even see playing time until a few games in for USC. It’s good to know the future is in good hands with stories like Richt and JJ. Prayers go out to the lineman at Texas A&M. He too was a solid person. Just finished handing out gifts to children when he lost his life heading back.

What a refreshing article about a UGA player. We are not used to having guys stay who are projected as high 1st rounders. I don’t mean this as a bash against guys like Green, Stafford, or Moreno; but the only way you have a chance to compete for championships is to have some guys who could leave early stay.

Getting some perspective in life is so crucial to start making good decisions. I had a pretty tough stretch of my life – but now I’m married and happy. His injury and release from usc gave him a great outlook on life. I’m glad to have him on our team. That kind of attitude can be infectious and spread to all corners of the program. It is hard to describe and understand how it makes me feel and how a guy like JJ can be so great, on and off the field, and still make that ultimate sacrifice of delaying that huge payday. Very similar to David Pollock.

I hope Kiffen has some more “medical” problem guys like JJ that he will send us. JJ = DGD. Perhaps he should look into getting some insurance in case of serious injury next season.

“They know where I stand, man. It’s like I told someone earlier, when that decision comes and it’s right for you, you just have to make it for you. I love the coaches. I just don’t think I’m ready to let that go yet. I mean, if I did go to the NFL, I could learn that way. I definitely know they’d teach me what I need to know. Like they say, any play can be your last play, so you’ve got to give everything you’ve got out there on that field, practice, game, whatever.”

You’ve got to admit : (1) This guy gets it. As fans, most of us played the game; none of us fans at his level from day 1 for us to enjoy of him, here and in his high school days we all followed. We might have lost touch with this young man out there with Southern California and all their woes – all coaching decisions; but, we quickly filled all that time in completely about his sprained neck. Those questions will not go away. He’ll answer them whenever he is ready to call the season at an end and declare. Some guys just get it. They can get it in any of a number of different fields or Callings. And, (2) This fine young man is well-spoken. Here he is 1 on 1, refers to Mr. Towers as sir, and answers the questions succinctly. This is a smart man. He will score a High Wonderlic Score. He gets it in football, too. He has great grades. Sometimes, a person gets it. It was just 1 year, and it was not the best of years, by stretch of the imagination, but as last year we could hang our hats on a 2nd year freshman (who stepped backwards this season – and, has been quite inconsistent his whole entire career which started here December 2008, who started his 4th season here now – the essence of being able to Declare) and enjoy his playing and project to the future in a dismal season last season, this season we have Jarvis Jones.

Thrill a minute, Jarvis Jones has largely gone unnoticed by this newspaper’s sportswriters. Even here, some underlying question of the wording of his sprained neck – as a neck INJURY.

Note, this, despite the MEDICAL EXPERTS hired by this great University to insure that indeed it was only a sprained neck.

Like I say, those questions will REMAIN. He will answer those questions, either now in January Declaring for the NFL Draft, or next January, or indeed the one after that. He is a Redshirt Sophomore. He can play next 2012 season as a Redshirt Junior. He can play the season after 2013 as a Redshirt Senior. Does all that, and in 2014, they will ask him the same questions. It is not going away.

He has NOTHING to prove. As the only UGA Bulldogs’ Football Player Eligible for The College Football Hall of Fame on this ENTIRE ROSTER, he should Declare. He has time yet. The season isn’t even over.

Jarvis Jones plays a natural position. He is Quick. He is relentless. He is who I want in front of me, while I cover the pass. He is the epitome of what the NFL wants in a 3-4 OLB. He tackles with form and plays heads up; clean, smart, fast, and relentless. He has a football knack. You cannot teach that. You can teach run support. You can teach form tackle. What you cannot teach, is it. Teams will trade-up to take him in the 1st Round. There will be more Medical Evaluations, and the comments, indeed as they are HERE on this BLOG TODAY, will be the SAME AS THIS BLOG AUTHOR’S COMMENTS – indeed the same guy will say the same statement, even after THOSE MEDICAL EVALUATIONS prior to the NFL Draft and during the Combine. He’ll have no option in that, now, or after 2 more Glorious Seasons here; or, anywhere in-between.

Jarvis Jones is no Aundray Bruce.

He has until January 15 to Declare. The NFL Draft will be made or a flop based upon which college stars actually are in the NFL Draft 2012, the 77th NFL Draft. It is the entire essence of what this sport is all about. We have a fine man. I am thankful for watching him this season in person at every opportunity. He is our Best Player 2011, as last season 2010 it was Aaron Murray.

I think he should go, not because I don’t want him back but because he will be one of the top 5 linebackers overall taken and will get for that, a Guaranteed Lifetime Paycheck, one he can invest and live off of, no matter what; and, he will have the NFL Players’ Retirement Fund, which is also a huge big deal. If there is anyone who knows this, with what happened on his sprained neck, it is OLB Jarvis Jones.

January 15th. 3 weeks and 1 day. Our game is 1 week and 2 days away. I’d like to beat Michigan State. It would be the Most Meaningful win since Georgia tek 2009; of course, if Georgia tek had won that game, it would have been VACATED. Prior to that, then, this is the Most Meaningful win since 2006, six (6) seasons ago when we beat # 9 Auburn but we LOST 4 games that season including to 8-Loss Vandie. This game is important.

Chip, this isn’t about IC.

MEL KIPER 24 November 2011 at 1:243 pm

Who’s the better pro prospect? Tyler Wilson or Aaron Murray?

Mel Kiper
(1:23 PM)

Tyler Wilson. By a lot.

http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/chat/_/id/41391

As I’ve been saying.

MEL KIPER 2 December 2011 at 1:03 pm

“You can’t just have Aaron Murray back there throwing the football.”

MEL KIPER 7 October 2011

“Aaron Murray is a little less pro-polished. Murray is 9-9 and has been in pressure-filled moments; Murray has been Georgia’s starter since the start of 2010 – but hasn’t delivered that “Hang-your-hat” win. That performance that wins over the huddle and the fan base to the point that if the Dawgs were down 3 on the road in the SEC and had the ball with one timeout and 90 second left, everyone would feel that overtime was a certainty and a win was likely. Do you feel that way this morning with Murray? No, we didn’t think so. And it has nothing to do with skills. No, he needs this type of win to prove he is more than a passer. This is more about throwing and hitting Orson Charles on a seam route. Murray has a lot of positives, but does he have “it” — that quarterback-gene that is hard to define but easy to recognize. Is he closer to having “it” or is he still searching for “it?”
__________________________________________________________
Aaron Murray has showed immaturity all season starting with his TWEET to Boise State on the way to the Dome, continuing on the field throwing the game away with South Carolina by HIMSELF and continuing through his band-aid pic of what appears to me to be an arm, not a leg, in the restaurant soccer game the other day. Now, he wants to HEAR WHAT MEL KIPER HAS TO SAY ABOUT HIM. Another immature moment on Aaron Murray’s part, for a guy who WILL NEVER BE DRAFTED, ever. Aaron Murray’s season this season definitely obviously clearly undeniably is WORSE than last season when he was our # 1 Football Player and there was no # 2, and it is not just because this season our best football player is Jarvis Jones.

Now come back, quit pouting, and I have that APOLOGY now that is has been proven that as I said all along the last 72 hours, it was not I. You made that up. That’s beneath you, sir.

DawginLex APOLOGY required at this time, sir.

Jarvis Jones has been fun to watch this season, especially when he lines up in that joker position at linebacker where he can blitz from anywhere he decides to, thats where the majority of his 13.5sacks have come from.
We need about 5 more players with his team attitude to be captains for the upcoming season. He will definetly be a captain and a good team leader next season.
Jarvis’s yes sir’s and no sir’s seem to be genuine and that’s something that all us older generation of Dawg fans really appreciate.
Jarvis is one of those kids who makes you proud to be a Dawg fan.
By remaining at UGA for 2012 Jarvis Jones may be projected a top 5 pick in the NFL in 2013. Great season, Thanks Jarvis Jones.

Jarvis Jones said a few things at the beginning of the season that made me wonder if he might be more talk than talent. (I don’t even remember what it was, I just remember commenting about it.)

Clearly my first impression was wrong. Everything Jones has done on the field this season and everything he has said off the field since the season started makes him appear to be exactly the kind of young man anyone would want leading their team. I’m glad USC let him come home to Georgia and I look forward to seeing what he can accomplish with another year at UGA.

Jarvis Jones is as impressive off the field as on it. I hope I.C. and any other of the young DAWGS pay attention to his advice, he seems to have thingsfigured out pertty well for a young guy himself. As a life long DAWG fan i am truly proud to say this man is a DAWG and we can use all the people like him in the DAWG NATION we get . This young man is what you hope all of the DAWGS turn out to be. He is enjoying his life on campus and he knows that the NFL is in his future but he is still enjoying playing college ball. Hopefully, his attitude is contagious and more DAWGS on the team pick up on it. Crowell will come around and next year we will see a different RB out there.
UGA’s defense will still be a top five unit on the field and JJ will lead the way. These DAWGS want to bring it home for UGA and they will. Great DC + quality players = a defense that can control games.
Our offense is going to be very good next year, but we will most likely have to have our TE step it up because we are going to lose our all star TE, but nobody can blame him for going for the money. I thank him for his contributions to the DAWGS this year and the leadership of this young group of guys. If we pick up a few more O linemen, this offense is going to be hard to beat.
Merry Christmas to all DAWG fans, and most other teams fans. I hope the SEC pulls a sweep of all the bowl games they are in and shows the nation once again, that the SEC is the best conference in football in the NCAA.

We have our tailback of the next 3 seasons before he too joins Jarvis Jones, and he will be Captain next season on and off the field, without doubt. Our Defense will be wonderful; like to see us add a big Erk Russell Safety. Jay Rome is a fine TE to replace Orson Charles and as many as nearly 10 go on to the League with Jarvis Jones, our Linebacker Corps especially is strong too – would like that 1 more Great OL added now. And, a Speical Teams’ Coach, now that WE have Mark Richt’s attention. Hutson Mason ? Don’t think you can HANG THAT HAT on this very good blog, that is much more vibrant than your blog, obviously, which is why you are in here reading what we have to share. Aaron Murray is better than Hutson Mason; but Hutson Mason should have played MUCH MORE. Next season, it had better be Christian LeMay and he better hit the field early and often. Merry Christmas.

I find it interesting between two of the stories out of UGA this week. Hutson Mason = me, me, me and Jarvis Jones = team, team, team. I wonder who will be more successful on the college level and on Sundays?

Thomas Brown

December 24th, 2011
8:11 am

Jarvis Jones is already a top 5 pick at Linebacker because of Todd Grantham, while we have had Matthew Stafford only at Quarterback who went of course # 1 in 1st Round – but, I wouldn’t trade you Jarvis Jones to get Matthew Stafford because he fumbles, is sacked, throws interceptions and loses with all that talent there to throw to like he had here too and did the same here, while Jarvis Jones is the 1 who causes the fumbles interceptions, sacks and wins.

Jarvis Jones is my pick. Unlike David Pollack whom the NFL stole from us to put at LB with no experience or knowledge of how to tackle from that position and no training for it, Jarvis Jones is Natural 3-4 OLB.

Hutson Mason is a product of a poor offensive strategy, not taking advantage all 11 years of the talent we have and have had all 11 years on Offense, with our Average # 52 NCAA Total Offense all 11 years.

The complaint about Hutson Mason is not so much that obviously he isn’t Aaron Murray, but that we are 0-8 with Aaron Murray vs teams who finished top 25 all the years he has been here, and could be facing 0-9 one week and 2 days from now. He also lost to 2 sorry football teams, in addition. Each of those 10 losses to-date, the OTHER quarterback on the field head-to-head that day, was BETTER than Aaron Murray.

So, why again, didn’t Hutson Mason get into more games with us playing last season, cupcake city, and this season, even more so cupcake city ?

Offensive Strategy, a term I use loosely in describing our Offense, which has been a problem and remains one until Keith Marshall cures our ills on Offense both in ATTITUDE LEADERSHIP and PRODUCTION on offense, which is AFTER this game coming up.

Special Teams suck. But, over the 11 years to-date, Special Teams have been far better although we have played way too many walk-ons as Mark Richt admitted yesterday to us all.

What he has failed to address is the Offense. Then, little Bryan McClendon got us along with Mark Richt, Keith Marshall. Trust me on this one.

Greg McGarity give Mark Richt his EXTENSION NOW SIR.

If you want an explanation of THAT, as has been asked and answered, offer it up as your question.

Please say a Prayer for Pat Summitt.

Merry Christmas.

What a breath of fresh air Jones is. In today’s” ME! culture,” seldom do we get to see, much less get to pull for team-oriented athletes.

Hope Jarvis has an injury free ‘12, and gets a Top-10 spot in the draft.

Anybody notice how many of Grantham’s players getting looks from the NFL? At least two from last season and several this class. Evidently a great teacher.

I sure wish UGA would make a big deal of extending the DC’s contract. Without Grantham, Richt and Co would be 6-6, heading to Shreveport.

Thomas Brown – How do you base your opinion that Hutson Mason is so great? He played at Lassiter HS in Cobb Co, in one of THE weakest regions is GA. Lassiter’s O ran a spread with Mason in shotgun so his numbers are pumped up. He had hardly any D1 offers, except maybe Clemson and MSU. UGA did not even look at him until his Sr. year AND because UGA had a unexpected scholarship open up at the last second. I guess UGA’s thinking is that he can help with thefootball team’s GPA. Just looking at this string pole would tell you he would be broken in half by SEC D’s. One thing is for certain, Mason will NOT start or play an entire game during his three years at UGA!

“So stop whining, go to the games, support the staff & our players!!!! And make some freaking noise in our stadium so we will be a tough, intimidating place to play like it used to be. It was pathetic at times during the MSU game. I am very sad to even say this as well as seeing it.”

“I wish all of the so called UGA fans stop whining about Coach Richt all the time, all they want is to see him leave. I know most (if not all) of these fans DO NOT KNOW ONE THING about college football or this program. They don’t go to the games or practice, thats why they are clueless. If something is going to be done, wait until the season is over. The biggest problem I see that is wrong is we are so predictable in our play calling. Maybe we need some tweaks here and there. So if these dipsticks want to do something good, shut up & if they go to the games make an awful lot of noise, make it the 12th man like Texas A&M. Support the coaches & players.”

enamored with us having gone 0-8 vs teams finishing top 25

and then discussing on this blog how Hutson Mason is not great.

Then, logging in another handle and stating that everyone should just say NICE feel good Kool-Aid posts about our football program, who last beat a team finishing in the top 10 in 2006 six (6) seasons ago when we LOST 4 games including to 8-Loss Vandie.

When that handle by them, has NOTHING BUT CRITICISMS OF OUR FOOTBALL PROGRAM daily repeatedly

Yet, according to that handle,

RECRUITING is being ruined by actually admitting we have done Diddle-E-Squat in sometime now and how Jarvis Jones next year when he should be in the NFL obviously is going to bring us a National Championship, or even an SEC Championship.

This, when, the only 2 SEC Championships we have are 2002 when only 1 other SEC team ended up ranked in the Coaches’ Poll top 25 a 4-Loss Auburn, and the same year we LOST to a 5-Loss Florida team who ended the season UNRANKED in any poll, going 0-11 on 3rd Down Conversions the entire game. That and 2005 when we ended up the # 3 team in The SEC in EVERY SINGLE SOLITARY POLL.

Nice SEC Championships we have.

Nice QB we have.

Pardon me for daring to come into YOUR BLOG and share I am less than thrilled. Truth be told, SO ARE YOU.

Blame those who say it out loud.

Got to admit there, JAWJeRDAWG, you are so much better a Bulldogs’ football fan than anyone else, right ? You’ve really got the right perspective, but while I’m at the games, you said you do not even go to the games, right JAWJeRDAWG ? Now, you run in here giving lessons ? Is this based upon the belief that we have beat any of the 8 teams who finish in the top 25 the last two (2) entire seasons ? If we do beat 1 of the 9 teams who finish in the top 25 the last entire two (2) seasons, we will be 1 and 8. If we do not, we will be 0-9.

What do you mean JAWJeRDAWG that you agree totally with ARdawg saying that we were beat by 2 clearly inferior teams (and 1 that stomped us by what I had predicted pre-game would be a 4 touchdown loss in the last game 10-42.)

- We’ve been beaten by clearly inferior teams

- We haven’t looked like even a decent cohesive team

- We’ve backdoored in the polls

-We’ve not beat 1 team finishing top 25 either last 2 seasons

- Now, you hope someone else has better perspective

- You mean like yours you SAY, or yours you DO ?

- When are you ever going to go to a game JAWJeRDAWG ?

This is what was wrote about Sanks….His work ethic never matched his talent. His attitude didn’t jibe with the team. He was ruled academically ineligible before his freshman season, criticized for showing up out of shape, was arrested on a drug charge that was later dropped, and his career at Georgia eventually ended in 2001 when coach Mark Richt dismissed him for violating a team rule.
Sounds like it was his fault. Same with IC.

Possiby more impressive as a person than as a football player. And that’s saying a lot. Jury still out on IC, give him a chance. There is the Sanks example, but also remember Garrison Hearst came to UGA as the #1 RB recruit and had an up and down 1st yr, has some issues with being out of shape his soph. yr. too(remember Larry Ware started most of that yr b/c of Hearst being in the doghouse, even though Ware had half the talent Garrison did.). That worked out pretty well for UGa and Hearst in the NFL.
