UGA’s Ben Jones racks up at Bulldogs’ Senior Gala awards banquet

In case you didn’t catch it ( I didn’t as I was on a farm in Blythewood, S.C.), senior Ben Jones was the big winner at the Bulldogs’ annual Senior Gala awards banquet this past Saturday night at the Classic Center in Athens. He took MVP honors and also was named permanent team captain. Interesting to note that Isaiah Crowell, The Associated Press SEC Freshman of the Year, did not receive any awards, but his cousin, Quintavius Harrow, did. Here’s what individual awards were handed out (the Governor’s Trophy for beating Georgia Tech was also presented):

  • Vince Dooley Most Valuable Player of the Year Award: C Ben Jones, Sr.
  • Most Valuable Offensive Player: QB Aaron Murray, So.
  • Most Valuable Defensive Player: LB Jarvis Jones, So.
  • Most Valuable Special Teams Player(s): P Drew Butler, Sr.; LB Kosta Vavlas, RFr.
  • David Jacobs Award (for courage, spirit, character and determination): G Chris Burnette, RFr.; LB Alec Ogletree, So.
  • Permanent Team Captain: C Ben Jones, Sr.
  • Offensive Captains: TE Orson Charles, Jr.; OT Cordy Glenn, Sr.
  • Defensive Captains: CB Brandon Boykin, Sr.; LB Jarvis Jones, So.
  • Leon Farmer Award (for strength and conditioning): Boykin and Jones.
  • Outstanding Scout Team Award(s): QB Greg Bingham, RFr.; LB Corey Campbell, RFr.; CB Eric Elliott, Sr.; CB Luis Capella, So.
  • Most Improved Awards: OT Justin “Bean” Anderson, Sr.;  DE Abry Jones, Sr. ; LB Mike Gilliard of Valdosta, Jr.; S Connor Norman, RFr.
  • Newcomer of the Year Award(s): WR Michael Bennett, RFr.; WR Chris Conley, Fr.; WR  Malcolm Mitchell, Fr.; LB Amarlo Herrera, Fr.; NG John Jenkins, Jr.;  DB Quintavius Harrow, Fr.
  • Coaches Leadership Award(s): Offense — Charles, Murray, Jones; defense– DE DeAngelo Tyson, Sr., and Boykin (defense); special teams — Butler

Seems to me the “powers that be” sent a message to Mr. Crowell..freshman of the year is snubbed. I still think as fans we have set the bar too high for this young man. He needs to grow up in many wyas, but has more potential than King or Ealy did. Lets hold judgement and let the players and coaches set him straight. Also new “dump trucks” are coming to tote the rock, so let the best man win. But in any case, more the better in the RB group. Imagine if we’d had Samuel healthy, and Ealy would have been “on the bus” we’d have had a better season I think.
BY THE WAY>> Any word on Richard’s health for the bowl game???

richard Samuel is expected to be back for the bowl game. I look forward to him and an improved Ken Malcome to tote the rock next year with Crowell and Marshall.

I think Malcome has got the right size to do more damage between the tackles. Samuel is just a winner in my book all the way around.

Another regular season in the books. I sure hate to see Ben Jones go. What a great Dawg! All in all, a good season considering all of the question marks going in. The team really work hard to improve week in and week out. IC has got to grow up and realize that he can be a great Bulldog team member if he gets his head screwed on straight and lives a humble life. I hope that the recruiting picks up in the near future and we see some switches (Eligwe, or however you spell it, and Lee)as well as some more OL like Young. Go Dawgs!!!!

I never enter any season of watching college football with any expectations. Obviously it was going to be a down year switching over to a new offensive scheme without the key players to run it. Losing Brantley hurt, so 6-6 was not a big surprise. As UGA fans like to say “Wait until next year”

I hate to see Ben Jones go. DGD. Showed up every day and gave it his all. He turned into a leader and did his best, reportedly every day. Never got in trouble off the field, and rarely committed errors on it. I often thought the two line leaders for the last two years were Jones and Tyson, and I hope all the seniors do well post UGA.

Its hard to earn an award when you get suspended. I believe IC will be fine and there’s next year’s awards. College is an adjustment and sometimes you need to get some tough lessons. IC has said the right things publically and UGA is a great environment in which to grow. I thought the freshman WRs did a great job.

It’s always hard to see Good Dawgs go. I am hopeful that Mr. Andrews will be pretty good replacement for Jones; I think he is going to be DGD for the next three years. I agree with Joey @ 4:05 pm, Anderson was not that good. Seems like every time there was a sack or holding penalty he was somewhere in the vicinity. Does anyone know about the progression of Danzler? It seems like no one thinks he will be a player on the offensive line next year. I would have like to have seen him play more. Also, just thinking, it depresses me to think about the two “beast” defensive players, Jenkins and the kid from Grayson (in 2013), being from GA, and apparently GA does not have a reasonable shot at either. Who knows, maybe we can get one of them to change their mind. With all the highly rated defensive players already at AL and those committing, that they would want to come where there is more playing time. At any rate, I am pleased with the year, and the incoming class looks to have some dept on the OL and of course Marshall is just a great get. Merry Christmas to all!!!

@flat tire: yes sir, negative at all costs. all you do is complain. here you are yet again, complaining about coaching (again) after an article that recognizes the contributions of some of our best players. why not just say “thanks seniors, go dawgs” and move on? that was what i was going to do, and then i saw what you posted.

forget that you have no idea how sailors (who has been impressive on ST, i agree with you) has practiced, whether or how his special teams skills would effectively translate, or whether he DOES actually know the playbook. what you do “know” is that our coaches, whatever they do, whatever decisions they make, and however many games they win, must be in the wrong.

Do you remember in 2009 when UGA & GT played a night game in atl?

IC use this as motavation so in a year you can be the offfesive player Mvp cuz you have the talent. Use this time off to get away from the critics have fun with family and get yourself mentally prepared to run like your hair is on fire for the bowl game. IC you’ve got so much potential, work hard this bowl and offseason. I support you and you still have support from a lot of Dawg Nation. Ive given Gratham praise this entire season. I gave Bobo praise after the Auburn game. I will be happy to give praise where its due just like for Sailor Please go back and read my posts

But I refuse to sit here and stand behind a contract extension when this staff cant beat a top 25 team in over 2 and half years. I dont care about 10 win cream puff games

Sorry I question this staff but when Sailor runs 80 yds downfield on a kickoff and is making the tackle or disruption 70% of the time and he isnt recognized Im going to say something.

And yes I throw a comment about knowing the playbook because how could this kid be overlooked its the typical lack of detail this staff has exhibited for years

richt didn’t redshirt a lot of players this year. But we have xavier ward (tackle) who could get into the o line rotation next year and also jay rome could play a major role especially if we are unfortunate enough to lose OC. Also we havve only seen a few of the dream team members. David andrews and watts dantzler could start next year on the o line. Damian Swann will be in a position battle to start at corner. Ray drew will play more, ramik wilson, kent turene (academically ineligble so officially part of 2012 class)

If our o line can step up and i think it can under a great coach like Will Friend and our rbs can stay healthy and be productive. We will be undefeated going into the sec championship game. We have another easy schedule. Its the same as this year minus boise and then south carolina on the road. And most likely alabama will get taken off our schedule with the addition of missouri

Anybody who has gone from high school straight to a major university and away from home knows what a huge jump that is – throw in the fact that a few hundred thousand people all of a sudden are watching your every move along with the papers and rumor mill mongers and I think you have to admit that IC was bombed this year. He did not have the luxury of redshirting which I think really hurt him. With all he had on him, I think he actaully weathered the storm fairly well (not including the failed drug test). He could have been a little more mature – would have been nice – but he was probably a high school rock star and had his way with everything in Columbus – different story on the big stage. He is a big talent toting the rock – I hope he gets his head on straight and becomes a geat back at UGA. He certainly has the potential to be a game changer.

What hurts UGA football is a program that cant win big. UGA hasnt won big in 6 yrs. Kids are going where they think they can win big and play pro ball.

But Im not worried about UGA recruiting.

Also

I was on here defending Gratham after the Boise game when many on here was blaming him for the loss.

I will defend Gratham; he showed consistancy every game. Bobo only one game Aub, Gratham also showed drastic improvement from over last year. Bobo once again showed the same garbage he always does; Inconsistancy.

15 Scholarship Seniors
2 Open Scholarships not given to walk-ons available early enrollees
7 possible Juniors and Redshirted Sophomores eligible NFL Draft

Seniors Lost after Michigan State :
1-Kevin Butler Punter – have 2 already committed, both excellent, draft
2-Blair Walsh- Kicker – have 1 great 1 coming in who punts great
3-Brandon Bogotay Kicker iffy decision to begin with 2 Kickers
4-Brandon Boykin – Cornerback, may play completely different position
5-Eric Elliott – CB one of many walk-ons awarded scholarships
6-Jason Veal – ILB – another walk-on awarded scholarship
7-Mathew DeGenova – OLB – another walk-on awarded scholarship
8-DeAngelo Tyson – Defensive End
9-Bruce Figgins – Fullback never really made move from linebacker
10-Israel Troupe – Split End never really worked out like expected
11-Aron White – TE – not great hands, outspoken, may get passed on
12-Trinton Sturdivant – OL – may get passed on too many injuries
13-Justin Anderson – Right Tackle – might get picked up
14-Ben Jones – Center top NFL Draft Pick
15-Cordy Glenn – Left Tackle top NFL Draft Pick

Obviously, we lose a ton on the Offensive Line and we lose Brandon Boykin and workhorse.

We will have some transfer out. We do that every year, not playing them much.

It boils down to who is going to declare.

Who do you think declares for the NFL Draft ?

There is not much for Jarvis Jones to prove. His neck sprain seems fine. He’ll answer questions about that obviously. They won’t go away this time next year or the year after. He has a natural LB position in the NFL.

We still have a bunch of Scholarships tied up in Walk-Ons who never play. We will carry them all year next year.

It could not possibly be a worse place to lose the vast majority of our players from the Offensive Line and from the Secondary/Passing Game Defense if Jarvis Jones does as is possible.

The recruiting class is weak, coming in. 2 of my Favorite Players are coming in.

EXTENSION – if Mark Richt is not given his Extension and NOW, this recruiting class could be weak. It’s weak now. With all the wasted scholarships tied up in Walk-Ons as he did, in the Great Exodus of 33 players from this 2011 season’s roster, our Depth in year 12 is not at all where it should be. We are key players away from where Rodney Garner should have us. He has largely been totally quiet for years now. These last 3 classes now, as a whole, are not what they needed to be. We’re thin.

We have 2 Senior Walk-ons next year on the OL who never play.

We have a Senior Walk-on next year at Tailback who never plays.

We have a Senior Walk-on next year at WR who never plays.

Our whole Linebacker corps next year are all Seniors, which ones of these jump after the Michigan State game ? And, Alec Ogletree certainly for all intents and purposes is a Senior for us next season too since he is never coming back after next year with the NFL beckoning. Couple that with we have not recruited any linebackers this 2012 class at all, and you can see we must get more commitments for 2012 at Linebacker.

We have Scholarships tied up as Walk-ons this year who are Sophomores too. At Tailback. At Outside Linebacker. And, at Cornerback. At least 1 of them sees some time on Special Teams. It’s a huge large number of Scholarships tied up for Walk-Ons who would be here anyway. It’s like Brandon Bogotay, whom we tied up a Scholarship with all these years. When you don’t over-sign 25 and 85 rules, and give them away to YOUNG walk-ons, you really shoot yourself in the foot depth-wise when you have only 15 Scholarship Seniors and 3 of those 15 are Walk-ons who never played.

We don’t have a good class we can sign. We don’t have the Scholarships.

We have maybe 2 more Scholarships, not counting walk-ons who could lose their scholarships or not counting linebackers and secondary and tight ends and you could even have some defensive linemen and wide receivers who might declare – as sometimes declaring is a result of grades.

We lose a ton after next season, and we could see some of those jump right now.

Blake Sailors should have gotten a special team award. Here is a player who ran a 4.4 forty in high school and walked on a UGA. Crowell will be better prepared next year for the SEC. He definitely needs to mature. For all of you venters who are bashing him you need to consider that in high school he was allowed to do what ever he wanted. Coach T, and Coach K will put him through it in the weight room. He will either get better or he will be gone as the strength coaches at UGA are very good and very tough.

As for this weekend Avery Young is leaning to UGA and Brandon Greene is considering flipping. Eligwe has moved up GA in his mind-do not be surprised to see him flip. The FSU recruiter (Craig) is trying to do damage control this week. Georgia will close strong in recruiting. Keep in mind that most of the big name recruits were put off by the concerns about Richt’s job status. Now that his contract extension is in the works GA will close the gap.

Next up will be getting Grantham an extension.

Alec Ogletree, first, should have been in the secondary this season as he is our best pass defender. 2nd, if you could read, it states that Alec Ogletree might as well be considered a senior since he never will come back after next season with the NFL asking him to be a 1st Round pick after next season.

I have no idea who you mean by what school.

$.29 GPA,

You wouldn’t happen to by the initials of Thomas Brown now, would you?

Now on to something that really matters. I am sure I will see a lot of the usual negative stuff shot my way after this is posted but I am going to say it anyway.
The problem with Crowell, is 85% the fault of the fans, myself included, of UGA. We set this kid up on a pedestal and acted like he was the next great thing. I realize we all hoped he could step right in and assume 90% of the running duties after the two idiots that were supposed to be the main featured RB’s in Ealey and King proved they were far from mature. Guess what. He is still a kid. He is 18 years old. I know when I was 18, back when the dinosaurs roamed the world, things were a little different. We had no choice but to grow up because we had the draft and if you were unfortunate enough to have a high number, you had to get used to wearing green for a couple of years and you got to enjoy a tropical paradise for 13 months. I know I am damn sure grew up in a hurry. That was then and this is now. We have a young, very gifted, kid whose main talent right now is his ability to carry a football, in a game, and make us feel good about this, because he can be a difference maker for our team, and give us bragging rights about a game. If we had, even had either one of those two dummy RB’s that left the team, still here this year, chances are we would have seen very little of Crowell on the field, at least for the beginning of the season. Who knows, barring injuries to Samuel, he might have even red shirted. Circumstances dictated that we start him, and he wasn’t ready physically or mentally. If we as fans of UGA, had given any thought to the whole process, we would realize that we were basically asking him to carry a bigger load than most 18 years old, in any situation should have been asked to do. We inflated his ego, told him time and again how great he was, and then when he couldn’t live up to our standards we denigrate him all to hell. There may be a few 18 year old kids out there this day and age that are ready to have a bunch of responsibility put on them, but they are few and far between. For those of you that have sons, ask yourself, if you would want your kids to be put in such a position of responsibility before you were ready to assume it.
Let’s get behind this kid and support him. Hope he matures mentally and physically and becomes a really good RB, because he has all the God given natural talent you could ask for. Next year, if all goes as planned, we will actually have some depth at RB, and all the pressure will not be on him to be superman. One thing I am sure of though, is that the kid sees this crap spewed on here about him, because he can read just like you and I. He needs encouragement, not negativity. If anybody can mentor him properly while he is in college, it will be CMR. If CMR can’t then, maybe it is just not meant to be. My money is on, this kid making a lot of people happy he is on UGA’s team before all is said and done. Quit trying to find things to be negative about and get behind him. I have seen so much crap written about players who don’t live up to our expectations, and let’s face it, these are some young folks on the team, not just Crowell. People criticize his hair style and what right has anybody to question that. It didn’t seem to work out too bad for the Heisman trophy winner now did it? We criticize him because he got his leg rolled over by a 300 pound plus lineman, and is injured. Yes, he did bring on some of his own problems, but we as fans did very little to help him mature with our expectation and exultation of him. I think personally, next year, he will be more physically and mentally ready to assume the role, envisioned for him. We just need to get behind this kid and encourage him, not beat him down all the time.

Isaiah Crowell I did not say 1 word about here on this blog. In fact, I haven’t said anything further about him in some time now. No reason to. It is obvious his own teammates are right where you and everyone else is on the situation. You only need 1 go-to Tailback and now we have 1 coming in for the next 3 years before he, like his dad, is off to the NFL.

Blake Sailors got a 3-year scholarship in August. He, like myself, was Junior Beta and Beta Club and here at UGA has, like myself, made the Dean’s Lists, Honor Rolls, and graduates, like myself with Honors. He has made 5 tackles this season and 2 assisted tackles and 1 forced fumble. He has been allowed on the field only in mop-up or special teams. Fantastic kid, who was already on Academic Scholarship before we gave up a Football Scholarship to him for 3 years, for which he hasn’t started a single game ever; and plays special teams. 5 tackles. Jeez Louise, what do you want ? We gave him 1 of 85 Scholarships along with a dozen other walk-ons, none of the rest of them who have played as much or as well as he.

RedandBlackDAWG, while I agree with 90% of your comments and personally wish to see CROW ‘el succeed, I think it is especially telling that he wasn’t voted any type of award at this banquet. It is my understanding that most of these awards are voted on by the players themselves which clearly shows how much esteem they hold for him.

It’s almost as if this kid came from another planet or at least another culture. Unfortunately, this has been seen before many times and often the things these kids do, when thrust into the spotlight, becomes a major distraction to the team (Michael Vick).

The best thing that CMR and company can do is try to isolate IC from his “boys” as much as possible.

Alex Ogletree is need in OUR secondary. You don’t always play the guy at the position in college that he will play in the NFL. It would be better for him if you also did; but, it is not what I feel this team needed this season for him to play LINEBACKER with all the LINEBACKERS we had this season.

UF NMSU AU UK GT LS – we didn’t need Alec Ogletree at LB those games

My position is that he was our best defender against the pass. When he went down, a couple of plays in to the Boise State loss, and was lost for the season, that he should have not been rushed back to what THEN was and is a DEEP LINEBACKER CORPS.

If some of the 7 I think possibly are considering declaring, declare, he could well be needed next season in the secondary as well. This is where he helps this team the most, defending the pass. What will he play at the next level ? I think he is a natural at the next level at Inside Linebacker.

If you want to know where I would play Alec Ogletree, it would be at Free Safety or Strong Safety. I said that before this season started that it was a huge mistake moving him to linebacker on this team this season.

We wasted a year of him rushing him back at the end of a season, already doomed after the gutter balls thrown down both sides of the lane to start the season without him. The only possible loss I saw when he couldn’t play vs South Carolina (not the defense that gave away that game because that was Aaron Murray who did by himself), was The SEC Championship Game against Alabama, as I said at the time.

Rushing Alec Ogletree back to play LINEBACKER when we are so stacked with LINEBACKERS now, was a waste. Now, I see him playing out his career next year here and leaving. Yes, they will play him at LINEBACKER in the NFL. Where does he need to be for us ? In the old days, this is exactly who Erk Russell would have LONG SINCE PUT BACK THERE at Rover. A defensive back myself, I believe I know when I see a Alec Ogletree what I would do with him, given the stacked LINEBACKER CORPS. Amarlo Herrera (declares for NFL draft 2 years from now), Jarvis Jones (can declare now for NFL), Cornelius Washington (can declare now for NFL), Christian Robinson (Sr next year) and Michael Gilliard (Sr next year) – if there ever was a STUD LINEBACKER CORPS this is it BEFORE you rush back a guy I wanted back in the Secondary – the only guy who defended the forward pass all season long last year – so in the off-season we moved him to LINEBACKER and yes I complained then; and thank you again now, too.

I think Alec Ogletree probably would have declared for the NFL draft after next season, if we just had him take his medical redshirt for this season, anyway. But, I am not sure that next year would have been enough for him here. That was what I was banking on. As it is, you got him back at the tail end of this season, in a STACKED LINEBACKER CORPS, where he would have made ZERO DIFFERENCE. Obviously, the STUDS Todd Grantham had there at that point would have accomplished the same since we still lose to LSU as it turns out (Alabama was the better team the 1st time too.) and all the others were no bloody good and not about to beat us as a result of Alec Ogletree giving up his Starting LB to the likes of Amarlo Herrera, Cornelius Washington, Christian Robinson, Michael Gilliard and Jarvis Jones.

Put let’s give them the benefit of the doubt since what I want right now if for MARK RICHT TO GET HIS EXTENSION FROM THIS TENNIS PLAYER GREG MCGARITY RIGHT THIS NANOSECOND, and suggest that Alec Ogletree would have considered the 5 games started last season (1 at wide receiver and 4 at SAFETY) as enough including next year starting at LINEBACKER, while our Safety position is not manned by a player as good as he is back there.

Alec Ogletree was the # 2 best Safety in all of America recruited here. One service had him at # 4 best Safety in all of America. Either way, this man next season needs to be at SAFETY.

I eyed,

I agree with you, his attitude has not endeared him to his team mates. I do believe he can make amends though, if he shows up ready to go for spring practice, hits the books and acts like he wants to be a team player. I for sure am not trying to justify his actions, just trying to say that we built this kid up to fail, an we all have to share some blame for his attitude. He could also help himself out by having a really good bowl game, but I don’t know if the coaches are going to give him the chance, or if he will be eligible if the rumors are true about his class work. He can earn his team mates respect back though if he wants it.
I think, in a way, it is good his team mates are acting the way they are towards him. It shows me that they are a team and stick together. It is almost like he needs to pay his dues to get into the club. His attitude has made him an outsider. I remember watching the game with LSU and the cameras continued to pan to him on the sidelines. I didn’t notice a lot of his team mates sitting down by him or even talking to him. I think he gets the message or at least I hope he does. It would be a real waste if he doesn’t respond to what needs to be done, and improve his attitude. I don’t think, or at least I hope the coaches haven’t given up on him, but I am sure not in a position to know what else has gone on behind the scenes. Obviously, the half game suspension he got in one game this year, because as CMR said it was because “We love him”, didn’t get through. I am gonna think positively though and think that he will improve, or at least I am hoping so. The ball is clearly in his court now. I would hope his folks also sit down and talk to the kid.. He is in need of guidance and maybe a good swift kick in his lower extremities.

I beg to differ about the scholarships. They are for 1 year only they are not for 4 years. However, most schools honor the commitment for 4 years. Otherwise you would create a public relations nightmare. When you have some extra scholarships (a player signed did not make the grade) you give them to some walk ons as a reward but they are for a year only. UGA envy….

LOL

Oh Im really envious of a program that thinks 10 win seasons are the pinnacle of success and rewards its coaches with contract extensions after coming off a losing season last and then beats 10 unranked teams and loses to 3 ranked teams

Envy nope; this is comedy entertainment at its best

@UGA 7 Time 10 WIN National Championships and Counting name me a team that doesn’t extend coaches for 10 wins they either do or have already…even Bama doesn’t fire a coach with 10 wins even when he comes in 4th in the West ask Saban.

Bama didnt extend Bill Curry’s contract after he won the SEC

And Saban has won a recent NC what a stupid example

FL doesnt either

Ohio State got rid of John Cooper and he won 10 games consistantly

Hey Dirk,

Do you honestly think GT only has legitimate student-athletes? Are you calling Reggie Ball a legitimate student-athlete? He doesn’t even know when it’s 4th down :)

Jones should be the first center drafted come springtime. Connor Norman has alotta potential…as does Michael Bennett.

After the DAWGS began the season with two losses, fair weather fans were demanding Richt’s ouster.
Because of that, I have a reply: Pfffft!

Innocent Bystander: All the players are listed by the class they’ll be in NEXT year, this being a 2012 depth chart. Hence, Abry Jones is listed as senior. Understand?

SEC Football: Not really following the recruiting thing right now. Will get more involved in January. But I’ll summarize what I know: Everybody who was at the Senior Gala had a great time, thought UGA was a special place and moved the Dogs up on their lists. Alas, they’re all waiting to make a decision. How’s that?

RiffRaff: No news on Orson Charles, though he did have a conversation with Giants TE Dustin Keller, according to one of Charles’ tweets. We’ll probably know something before the bowl game.

Big Tree will not leave early. He would have to leave Zander behind. That won’t happen. And, he has been far more valuable as a LB that he could have been at Safety. Pass coverage is not his strong suit.

Think maybe UGA knows more about Crowell’s past and future than the AP?
The guy limps then runs without favor, gets hit, falls, gets up, limps again, runs again with no favor toward either ankle, gets hit and limps himself off the field.

If there is enough pain you limp MORE when running than walking.

This fish stinks and has been smelly for several weeks now.

I don’t see IC in Athens next season.

Yeah, I gotta think this guy is history after MSU beats us on Jan 2.

Crowell, don’t worry You’ll be in spring practice next year, if you show up, along side another pack of 5 stars who aren’t any better than you are. Compared to the average UGA 5 star, you had an awesome season. Problem is it would have been a horrible year anywhere else.

Gosh, 10 wins in a row ? Might it now be appropriate to shoot for, dare I say it, a conference championship or perhaps, gasp, a nat champ ? NAAAH. Those achievements are for other teams.

#3 on Special Teams (Blake Sailors I think)was a bad ommission on awards night…..This kid should have won an award..How about the Iron Man Award for Guts…..He was on almost every ST tackle all year long. I agree about IC…..too vanilla for an award. Let’s hope Keith Marshall is a hard-nosed kid with good morals and integrity and will prioritize the team-first concept.

Wreckmaniac,

And GT will win another fabulous, fun filled adventure to El Paso texas. Just remember though, don’t drink the water and be sure to bring your flak vest. You have got to be some kind of idiot, Coming onto a blog concerning UGA players and talking crap. I must be missing something because I haven’t seen a single Tech. player listed on any all American list this year. Now why do you suppose that is? Could it be you still find delight in running a high school offense, and all your engineers on your team, just can’t find time to practice? By the way, I will ask you the same question that none of your associates, (Make that Tech. Trolls) seem to be willing to answer. How many of your football team members, are pursuing a degree in any engineering course of study? You will not answer it either, because you are a typical Tech. fan. You can’t beat UGA, so you waste your time coming onto UGA blogs and spout a bunch of garbage about UGA.

Congradulations to everyone who received recognition at the local and national level. To those that didn’t receive awards your contributions were well noted by the fans and your value to the success of this team is immeasurable.

To all the juniors , come back, Georgia needs your leadership and play. The freshmen class was outstanding this year, the best I have seen at Georgia in many years!! Thanks for coming to Georgia and making your imprint!

Thank you all …….
