Georgia football coach Mark Richt expressed Saturday his gratification over UGA’s desire to extend his contract and intimated that, contrary to reports in Texas, he did not speak with Texas A&M about its coaching job.
“I’ve said many times Georgia is the place I want to be as long as Georgia will have me. That has never changed,” Richt said in a statement. “And it’s gratifying to know Georgia wants me.
“I have not talked to any other school about a job, nor do I have any interest in doing so. My interest is having a great recruiting year and start building toward next season.”
A report Friday in the San Antonio Express-News and Houston Chronicle, citing an unnamed source, said Richt was “in the mix” for the Texas A&M job. The papers reported Saturday that Richt declined A&M’s job offer.
UGA athletic director Greg McGarity met with Richt on Friday to open discussions about extending the coach’s contract, which has two years remaining. McGarity said the meeting was planned before the A&M reports, which McGarity dismissed.
McGarity said he had not been contacted by A&M athletic director Bill Byrne and would have been if the Aggies were pursuing Richt.
Late Saturday afternoon, Texas A&M announced the hiring of Houston coach Kevin Sumlin.
McGarity said he and Richt will continue to talk about a contract extension. “He wants to be our coach,” McGarity said. “We want him to be our coach.”
Richt has a 106-37 record at Georgia, but his job appeared in jeopardy when the Bulldogs followed a 6-7 record in 2010 with back-to-back losses to start this season. The Dogs then won 10 consecutive games and the SEC East title.

Of all the things Dawgs disagree on when it comes to coach Mark Richt…I think we could all agree this was a non-story.
I would put truth to the part of Richt turning down the job. No need for AD’s to talk before their is some interest.
This had as much legs as the Richt to Miami last year…..and again, the question becomes, “Why would he leave for those schools?”

We all knew that beat writers from the Houston Chronicle, as well as managers of Texas A&M’s Scout and Rivals sites, were fabricating the entire story, and A&M was too glad to let them lie, if for no other reason than to make their fans believe they were going after big targets, when all they were really going after was Sumlin.

When CMR came here, and several times since, he and his wife have stated that they want to make Athens and UGA their last stop in coaching. People can say all they want about CMR and his coaching but they would be hard put to say anything about his giving his word or playing games about his job. He is not going anywhere else unless UGA lets him go. He is a man of his word, end of story.

AD McGarity,
1. Along with locking down CMR long term do what is need to keep CTG there long term as well.
2. Get rid of CRG now, recruiting the “right” people is critical, his judgement is questionable at best
3. Have CTG call Joe D in Dallas and get him here ASAP in Garner’s slot as Special Teams Coordinator. He is a ST guru!
4. MAke CMB Recruiting Coordinator and QB coach
5. Find a “desk” job for Lilly and use that slot to hire an aggressive, innovative OC.
Make those moves and we’ll regularly be playing on the first Sat in Dec in the GA Dome and will soon be playing for a NC!

This was a non-story to begin with. With the advent of technology, rumors spread fast across different platforms. Richt is focused on beefing up the 8th rated, according to ESPN, recruiting class. We have a great shot at sneaking in the top 5 again. Let’s hope the youth on this team grows so UGA can take that next step.

Rumors are just that, rumors. CMR has said since Day 1 that the only place he wants to be is Georgia. He has reiterated that time and again. We can argue all we want to about various aspects of his coaching, but he has never wavered on his wanting to be the HC at Georgia and it’s doubtful he ever will.

With that cleared up , it’s time to see if Georgia can tweak their coaching staff to take care of our problem’s, mainly SPECIAL TEAM’S. Playing first team player’s and not walk on’s will take care of most of the problem. The fall off was so dramatic from 2010 when Belin was in charge of special team’s more than just playing first team player’s are needed.
This will be a huge challenge for CMR , who hates to fire coaches and affect families and McGarity who has a repetition as not settling for second best. It will be interesting to see how McGarity and CMR handles how to make Georgia a top ten team.

This is the last year for a LOOOOONG time that other organizations can use the “hot seat” or “unstable future” of Mark Richt with Georgia as a negative recruiting tool…..
You can bet your tail that is what this was, and there will be at least one or two more cheap shots before signing day.
The best thing McGarity and UGA can do is get the new deal inked asap. Hopefully with Grantham as well….

That would be one way of getting rid of Bobo without firing him and would allow him to keep his present salary. Bobo may not be a very good coordinator but he is a very good recruiter , especially in south Georgia and he is a DGD so keeping him is essential. Garner got real lazy over the year’s and can be replaced.
What I would like to see is all the coaches petition the NCAA to let each school hire 10 coaches instead of the present 9 . Offense’s and defense’s have gotten so sophisticated these day’s that the NCAA need’s to catch up. It would make team’s a lot better and open up a lot more job’s.

This is one of the many reasons why the internet needs laws and sanctions. People lie for no reason at all. Why in the world would he be interested in Texas A&M over what he has and what he has built here in GA? Didn’t make any sense but of course due to the ramblings of people who have no life and too much time on their hands, he had to address it. His statement was meant to calm recruits down who may read the story and think, uh oh! Don’t think recruits. Mark Richt is not going anywhere. Of course, just last year at this time, many of you on here would have loved for this fake story to be true! Funny how things change in only 365 days!!

I agree with a few of your ideas. Locking up CTG is a no brainer for anyone with any amount of sense. Unfortunately, I dont get the long term feel when I look at him. I also think if Richt wouldnt have had his job status questioned in the last few years, CTG wouldnt be here. I think Virginia Tech coach would have been our Defensive Coordinator. At the time though, Richt wasn’t the most liked Dawg in the house. I hope CTG can relax for a a few more years to see these recruits grow and develop. Kirby Smart is hanging in there and we know anybody associated with that staff gets offers every single day almost.
Garner is a great recruiter. I have been on the ropes with him not for who he brings in but for what he has done with our defensive line. I think it has been a little down for the last four or five years. It always amazes me to see former UGA players who were adequate at best go to the NFL and get major cudos and money. Its all about getting the proper coaching. Think about this before you ridicule some of the recruits actions. We live in an age where, just like the Richt story above, things can get fabricated and blown way out of proportion. Imagine if all the media outlets existed during the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s. Im sure many of our favorite athletes would have had a lot issues uncovered and reported. These are kids. And thinking everyone is a saint or a sinner is not for us to decide. If they go to a school and make wrong choices, who is to blame? Its their lives and they have to choose just like we all had to.
Bobo is only doing what CMR wants him to do. I mean, its quite obvious. The thing is, Richt has to learn that sometimes you have to make changes. Special teams is an area that needs to be addressed. It is costing us momentum in games and most importantly victories. Bobo is not Chip Kelly. We are commited to a pro style offense here and doing things the pro way. Thats why its called the GA “I”. What we need is execution. You could have Donald Duck doing the play calling if there is precise focus and execution. With that being said, yeah Bobo needs to go!
Sorry this is long. At home with the kids so I got time on my hands today.

In this day of high competition and the need for immediate gratification, coaching rumors abound at the end of most seasons. Sometimes these rumors are started simply to affect recruiting. It’s very possible that some zealous yet hard to please Dog fan, started this rumor. I think that sometimes we hire coaches that never become true Dogs. I don’t think this is true about Richt now. I mean, maybe when he was first hired as coach he wanted the job and the opportunity to coach at a big name college. Now, I think Richt is a true Bulldog, wants to coach here until he retires and wants UGA to achieve greater things than it jas to date in football.. He promised to fix the problems, and he has. Thank God CMR is a Bulldog!

CMR is focused on CMRs wallet, why would he be pushing for this now? because if we waited until we get slammed by Mich state, the heat will be back and he would not be able to the the extension. Why else should all this be done prior to the bowl game. That would be the last chance the we could beat a team that finished in the top 25 this season. Currently we are 0-3

If CTG wasn’t here we would be talking about who UGA was going to hire as HC. That’s obvious to anyone who played even pee wee football. He brought back the intensity that has been missing since BVG left. CMR HAS to have a motivator like CTG on his staff,b/c he’s just not going to motivate anyone in that Xanax stupor he walks around in during games. Not his fault, it’s just not who he is. The busted lip reminded me of when Erk used to headbutt the players. Loved it. McGarrity needs to lock up CMR and take care of CTG. Then we need a special teams coach. And CMB isn’t exactly innovative but he’s running the FSU offense that CMR wants him to run. so we are stuck with that for as long as CMR is the HC. Let’s hope Marshall can be like Warrick Dunn.

I have not drank the koolaide of another average season. we havent been relevent in years in the sec, must less nationally. we have got used to being behind the big boys in the sec. thats so obvious from the praise im reading from our fans. We won the east only because Florida and South Carolina had down years, then we were crushed in Atlanta. “Lots to be proud of” Georgia fans need to wake up, he is mediocre at best…. GT just wishes they had a DC like UGA has, and if they were man enough to admit it, they wish they had a regular offense like 99% of the rest of the NCAA does. That why bitter tech. fans like GT4ever, come on to this board and insult UGA coaches.
Just think, next year we get to see the T.O. offensive scheme for two weeks in a row. First GA. Southern and then Tech. A nice way to wrap up the season after having played some real teams in the SEC. It will not help our defense much, getting ready for an SEC West team, but the offense can have a field day, against the weaker defenses of these two.

Semantics if you ask me but at any rate I think Richt wants to make sure he and his assts. are taken care of. Not out of greed for himself, but more for recruiting purposes and to lock up CTG. so he let the rumors run wild for a few days just to make sure McGarrity and Adams get the message.

Boise is loaded with five year seniors this year – they will be replacing a lot next year. Most of their players are there for 5 years as they are not highly recruited in general. What that means is that while talented SEC players will probably be gone in three years, Boise will have an extra two years to develop their players in their system and to develop them physically. That is where their advantage lies. BYU had a similar advantage because their players went on two year mission trips while in college thus giving them older and more physically mature players.

It looks to me like the LSU game would have knocked some sense into these idiot UGA fans who think Richt walks on water, but I guess they are beyond help. At any rate, McGarity better be damn careful about giving Richt a long term contract extension because it might come back to bite him in the ass. If he’s smart he won’t go over two years, but I’m beginning to doubt he’s any smarter then poor old Damon. Four years is time enough to see if Richt thinks UGA football is more important then trapsing down to Lower Goa or whereever he went. Two years McGarity and no more. For UGA’s own good.

To junkyard dawg….
1. Along with locking down CMR long term do what is need to keep CTG there long term as well.
AGREE
2. Get rid of CRG now, recruiting the “right” people is critical, his judgment is questionable at best
DISAGREE
Rodney Garner is one of the most respected defensive line coaches in the nation. How many years in a row have we had a top ten recruiting class? That being said we have definite room for improvement in recruiting. To take it to the next level (BAMA and LSU) we must lock down the ATL. South GA will always limbo with FLA/FLA St, West GA with Auburn, and East GA with SC/Clemson. ATL has to be THE priority.
3. Have CTG call Joe D in Dallas and get him here ASAP in Garner’s slot as Special Teams Coordinator. He is a ST guru!
AGREE that we need a special teams coordinator, but at what price? How many teams actually have a specific special teams coach? At what cost do we let go of a position coach for this position? We have very intelligent coaches who need to become more involved in special teams.
4. Make CMB Recruiting Coordinator and QB coach
AGREE that BOBO would be a great recruiting coordinator, but I still think that he can get the job done on offense.
5. Find a “desk” job for Lilly and use that slot to hire an aggressive, innovative OC.
Make those moves and we’ll regularly be playing on the first Sat in Dec in the GA Dome and will soon be playing for a NC!
DISAGREE!!!! Lilly is top notch. We might as well be “TE U!”

Strictly a rumor to try and affect our tremendous recruiting. The SEC is probably the most cut throat of the college conferences,as it pertains to recruits. And why would other schools truly be interested in Mark “I can win games – just not the big games” Richt unless they were another school similar to UGA that is satisfied with winning between eight and ten games a year? Glad Richt is staying….never thought he was leaving. Good coach. Great recruiter.
Now….Florida……
Florida has a very young and very good defensive team, and is returning all but Jaye Howard next year. No issues there. Florida’s major problem this year was a lot of youth and no depth on the OL. First, everyone returns on the OL and they will be better and bigger next year. Second, the two injured (and talented) freshmen OL, redshirted, and got bigger and stronger…and they will be available next year. Plus…. 5 star OL, Dunker and Humprhies, are coming….and most like Avery Young from everything I am hearing….and maybe one more. Another issue was lack of experience at WR….Debose and Dunbar (Soph and Fresh)…got a lot of experience and will be much better next year. They will be most likely joined by 5-star WRs Stefon Diggs and Nelson Aglolor. Next, a big need for a big blocking TE who can also catch the ball…..he is on the way….Colin Thompson. A big TE/WR in the slot (similar to your Bennett)……on the way…..Kent Taylor…..6′5 and 220. A possession receiver who can get seperation and has great hands….on the way….Latroy Pittman out of Ocala. Big need for a power back…..on the way……Matt Jones….6′2 and 220…and very powerful….and he is going to get stronger once he is on campus in January. Put these guys with Jordan Reed, a developing star at receiving TE…..and A.C. Leonard…another gifted TE….and the Gators are going to be able to run the pro style offense they were not able to run with either very talent, Jacoby Brissett or very talent, Jeff Driskell, stepping in to play QB next year…..no one in Gainesville is going to miss John Brantley.
P.S. A reporter called every commit this year the night Weis resigned…..and everyone is ALL GATOR. And not actual football coaches are expected to exit. And Muschamp will hire an outstanding OC and and outstand S&C person to replace those that left.
For you Dawgs thinking the Gator program is in trouble…..it is just reloading for a new system and a new era of championships…..and they will be fully reloaded very soon.
Have a nice evening.

UGA’s “musical chairs” occured during the LSU beatdown last Saturday night with their running backs. It was more like the Christians being thrown to the Lions. Only in this case they were Tigers. Poor old Isabel only gained, what, fifteen yards? And then wiped all of that outstanding effort out trying to fight the LSU players. Must have been the stash talking.

please leave Mark – we can’t stand averaging 10 wins a season in the toughest league in the country. And as for that LSU beatdown, yeah, we fell apart in the second half. But in the first half we left 17 points on the field and held the #1 team in the nation to 0 first downs and about 80 yards total offense. Oh, by the way – no SEC team has EVER been held for a half with no first downs . That was a first. Yep, we’re on a slippery slope. We do need some improvements to get to the truly elite level of the SEC, but I think, unlike some other teams fans who like to post on our board because there is nothing to talk about on their own boards, that we are on the upswing. We are deffinitely not sliding into the swamp. I know it’s hard for the Gators to admit it, but the glory days are quickly fading into the rear view mirror. Two years in a row of increasing losses is not a good sign = so much talent and so little to show for it – tsk, tsk…and I don’t believe any of these so called fans from other teams on here are really fans of theirs – they are just Tech fans using the names of other teams to try and stir the pot. Sad….really sad.

tell me again is grasping at straws by saying “we were in the game for a half”. Well so were other teams against LSU. Last season and the season before that stunk. We beat up on unranked teams but looked totally unorganized against ranked teams. We have no discipline, no clock management, a poor special teams coach (Richt) and no intelligence to adjust which is why we continually lost in the 4th quarter. Georgia is settling for continued mediocrity and when the season is over will be 0-4 against ranked teams this year.

Over the last 13 years, since Texas A&M last updated their official won/lost record in 1999 (Prior to 1999 the NCAA mandated vacated victories as penalty and Texas A&M still hasn’t corrected those prior to 1999 season won/lost records.) Texas A&M has averaged a 6-Win season. 86 wins since 1999.

My point is that he would have not taken that job. The East is ripe for the Dawgs to dominate for the next few years. Georgia has alot of talent coming back and has better players than South Carolina. Florida is down and won’t be back for a while as the jury is certainly out on Muschamp. I should like to discuss a player that the local press has completely ignored. There is 1 member of The Georgia Bulldogs’ Football team who is eligible for the College Football Hall of Fame.
He played basketball and was all-state. He is 6’ 3” and 241 lbs. He is eligible for The NFL Draft after the bowl game. He is a Redshirt Sophomore.
In 2009, he was spectacular but against Oregon he got his neck sprained severely.
After the 2009 season, he asked to be transferred to Mark Richt.
For Dell McGee, Carver High School Columbus Georgia, twice he was named All-America. 1 year he totaled 157 tackles. He made interceptions, sacks, tackles for loss, pass break-ups, forced fumbles, and fumble recoveries in route to Carver Winning the State AAA Championship in Football.
Journalism Major.
He is a fine student.
He is named to the Nagurski Award Watch List for 2011-2012, as a Sophomore.
Florida Gators especially found him a handful with 5 tackles including 4 sacks for minus – 27 yards, and he forced a fumble against Florida.
For the Season, # 29 for Georgia, led the team in tackles, 69, from his Outside Linebacker Position.
He also led the team in sacks, 10.5, eight solo, and this is # 1 in The SEC as well.
He is third in the nation in sacks.
He lived in the opponents’ back-field all season long, starting all 13 games.
He led the team in Tackles for a Loss with 19.5 for minus -103 yards. This also leads The SEC in TFL, and is tenth nationally.
42 Quarterback Hurries. 42 Quarterback Pressures.
2 Pass Break-ups.
2 Forced Fumbles.
Do you want to know why Georgia is so much a better defense 2011 than 2010 ?
Named All America 1st Team by Consensus of all All America 1st Teams is a Requirement to be in The College Football Hall of Fame.

With him, ‘Tree, Herrera, Vasser, Gilliard, Drew and Turene (if he gets it), that’s a serious LB corps. That is the only pre-requisite to be in the College Football Hall of Fame. You MUST be consensus All-America. How many sophomores have ever been named All America Consensus ? How many of them are not in the College Football Hall of Fame ? Drew Butler was Consensus All America in 2009. Then, in 2010 and 2011, he is not. He might win be NCAA Top Eight Award winner with OT Jon Stinchcomb 2002, OT Matt Stinchcomb 1998, and Rover Terry Hoage 1983 which was then the NCAA Top Six Award they called it for Academics. Drew Butler is close to that. Knowshon Moreno was Consensus All America in 2008 as a Sophomore, but we only got to see him 2 years. David Pollack was Certainly Consensus All-America as a Sophomore (and Junior and Senior) and he is SHO-IN for the College Football Hall of Fame when he comes up. Herschel Walker was Consenus All America as a Freshman and as a Sophomore (then again as a Junior before challenging the NFL) and he is the # 1 College Football Hall of Fame player Ever (not the “GPOE” Tim Tebow whose mom should have gone ahead.)
That is it for Georgia, red& black, for Sophomores who won Consensus All America.

Hear is a question, if UGA wins and SC loses their bowl game will UGA finely move in front of SC? How dissrespectful of the BCS to have East champs UGA behind SC. I guess UGA may move in front of SC, until next September when Dawgs lose to SC for 3rd year in a row. Currently 2 in a row and 3 out of 5. Save your breath Doggies, I know it is not a rivalry because UGA just dominates SC, right? See above #’s for reality check. Dawgs got lucky this year- will regret having CMR as coach again soon. Best in East,
One SEC East title in 19 years of the SEC membership. One ACC title in nineteen years of the ACC prior to that.
2 SEC titles and played in two other games for the title in that same time period.
4 SEC East titles in that same time period.
I will not bother to tell you what the over all records of each school over their history is, because I will save you further embarrassment. As for this game coming up in 2012, don’t let your confidence, influence what little brain power you can muster up now OK? If not for the mistakes our youngsters made last year, you wouldn’t be able to say, you have won two in a row. UGA’s offense put up 42 points against your defense. Reshape it any way you want, but our offense did a heck of a lot better against your defense than you offense did against our defense. Even your own coach admitted that UGA, if not for a couple of mistakes, should have won the game. Now, as most of you folks from North of Georgia do, you will try and come up with some magical excuse to explain the cold hard facts. But facts don’t lie, only jealous people lie. Richt isn’t leaving. His contract calls for him to pay a $2 million penalty if he leaves before it ends in two years. In addition, in Dec. 2013 he will earn $2.4 longevity bonus. That’s a $4.4 million swing. That’s all in addition to the fact he was the number 10 paid coach in the country at the begining of this season.
Richt and UGA tied themselves together financially and neither wants to end the agreement anyway. Someone needs to check the ethics of those reporting that Richt turned down or even considered an offer. It’s one thing in a blog comment and something else when false information is reported by someone calling themself a reporter.

Don’t extend Richt’s contract yet…when was the last time we beat a team favored against us? When was the last time we beat a team that finished in the top 15? Note to AD McGarity – If you extend Richt’s contract, the length of the contract will determine how long UGA will go WITHOUT a shot at the National Championship and without a SEC Championship. You have apparently bought into the nice guy image and have forgone a chance for a coaching staff that can take advantage of the talent in this state and be a player in the national championship game. Apparently you want to stay at UGA for the rest of your career too. You and Richt must have a mutual compact.

Coach Mark Richt said he has not talked to another school, he has not talked to another. He said he wants to be at UGA as long as he is wanted, then he will be. After 20 he may decide to hang it up. The man is as honest as the day is long period.
Just a reminder a record of 106-37 is a better winning % of Miles, Saban, and all other coaches in SEC. The man is a winner.
Will be playing LSU in SEC championship game next several years and will get a shot at BCS title in that period.
Coach will be here long after Spurrier, Saban, and most others long gone.

They need new players down there.”
What coach goes to one of the top programs in the whole country with arguably the greatest class ever recruited 2 years ago and cleans them out? Some players have left for lack of playing time…and because they were recruited by Meyer and do not fit into the pro style system. Some players, especially on the OL, need to get better….or they will not be playing much in the future. Muschamp demands you work within his system and perfom at a high level consistently to play for the Gators…..and the players who have left did not follow the program or fit within it. If anyone else leaves, then the same applies. Muschamp will coach up those who stay and he will go get the players he needs to win in the SEC……just the facts.

Never been a fan of McIntosh, as you can buy much more Windows which is the Industry Standard, for a lot less money. It was a gimmick getting the children to use MAC in grammar schools. They charge too much. Now, without Steve Jobs, they will falter further into oblivion. Who is going to pay that much money for something clearly inferior ? You pay $ 1000 for a MAC laptop that you can buy all day long on Windows for $ 399. But, it’s what I do for a living. What do I know about it ?
Yes, Bobby Dodd dropped out of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Then, we hired Vince Dooley. Vince Dooley never lost to Bobby Dodd, not 1 time, and Vince Dooley beat Bobby Dodd every game. Then, Bobby Dodd took Georgia tek out of The SEC over Revenue sharing, stating at the time, that Georgia tek “could not compete against the state universities, and I consider Auburn a state university, too.” Today, Revenue Sharing pays SEC teams $ 20 million dollars each per season. It is expected that adding the footprint of Texas Dallas and Houston and of Missouri St. Louis will bring this total up to in the neighborhood of $ 34 million each. In any case even the $20 million, is twice that which Missouri and Texas A&M get from the Big XII this last year by direct comparison. Then, there is little Georgia tek whose annual profits are zero. Real smart Bobby Dodd. And, for that, they name their football stadium for you. The adjective historic is reference to the fact that the stadium is very poorly engineered, extremely out-of-date with no funds to bring it into this century, and in a bad part of town, where the fans and indeed the students themselves do not feel safe. Attendance at the historic field named for the college DROP-OUT Bobby Dodd for this last year shows that Georgia tek averages 48,232 in attendance ranking Bobby Dodd historic # 47 in the nation downtown in a city of 6 million, directly compared thereto Sanford Stadium at 92,613 with only 7 having more attendance in the nation. I’d say Bobby Dodd did a disservice to Georgia tek in removing Georgia tek from The SEC. They will NEVER be allowed back. 31-17 for 10 of the 11 games of Mark Richt vs Georgia tek – no wonder Georgia tek fans (both of them) have 1 guy in here all day long today, logging out as 1 handle back in as another talking with each other.
JARVIS JONES is the only Georgia Bulldogs’ football player who has ANY HOPE whatsoever of being in the College Football Hall of Fame based upon this season’s performance, and it only his 1st season with us. Had he been with us out of Carver – Columbus 2 years ago, he would be a 1st Round Draft Pick in a few months, and still might be, or close. What is going on is that the NFL puts these guys such as David Pollack and Jarvis Jones at Linebacker, whereas until last season, we played them at Defensive End, only to not fit in in the NFL at DE where their DE are 300 lbs. plus. They have no choice but play Linebacker in NFL. It speaks for itself that Jarvis Jones is # 1 in The SEC in SACKS and in Tackles for a Loss and # 3 in the nation in SACKS and # 10 in the nation in Tackles for a Loss. I don’t know how many years he would have to play here to make the College Football Hall of Fame, but I do know that only he at UGA this season as a Consensus All-America, is eligible for College Football HOF.

TampaGator comes in here with his platitudes about BEATING GEORGIA, yet I seem to recall the score is 24-20 Georgia. He seems to think that Tim Tebow is a great NFL Quarterback because he has beat some sorry football teams, and has a great defense. And, no what Georgia fans say TampaGator is that the GPOE is Herschel Walker, not Tim Tebow. A mom should have the right to make her own choice, not have someone else pass a LAW that she has no say about her own choice in her own life. If you want to legislate what others do with their lives, you might spend that time actually making choices in your own life instead. Tim Tebow is turning the world off to him with his constant reminders about his own mom on this very issue, and most especially also with his PUBLIC DISPLAYS OF JESUS CHRIST. If he wants to practice his religion, I am all for it. This has nothing to do with God that he has played WEAK TEAMS and has himself on his own team, a stellar defense. Who won today, Matt Ryan or Cam Newton ? Ryan got ahead 7 to nothing. Cam put up 23 unanswered points. He lost in a blow-out at the end to Matt Ryan, a Quarterback.
TampaGator, as for coming in here and saying you don’t know where Dawg48 got his quotes that Will Muschamp is telling EVERYONE that he is CLEANING HOUSE, that is not smart on your part either, TampaGator sir. It is common knowledge for anyone watching any post-game interview ALL SEASON LONG. Did you think only you watched him after the game at the GATOR BOWL earlier this season after he LOST to Georgia ?
Just last week Will Muschamp offered up this gem. Did you read it either ? You can take any quote and put it into google search and see where he makes these types of comments, after EVERY GAME all season long.

“At the end of the day when you’re not able to run the football, you’re going to have a hard time winning games against a good defense. When you become a one-dimensional team, when you’re a lateral running team and you can’t run the ball inside and you can’t run the ball vertically at people, you’re gonna struggle. And we haven’t been able to do that. We’re a soft football team. We’re not a physically tough team and we’re not a mentally tough team. We need to get better on both lines of scrimmage, because until you do that it’s gonna be very difficult to beat the teams in our league.’ So, disappointed with that. We need to get better. We need to improve.”
“That’s what recruiting’s for, ” Will Muschamp continued last week.
“We didn’t improve our football team from last year’s record and I felt like we should have. We’re doing all we can do with what we’ve got right now.”
“You wanna play guard for us? We had 15 freshmen and sophomores starting out of our top 22 – more than anybody else in the SEC. Over 70 percent of our roster is freshmen and sophomores, and those are the guys who are playing. We’re not good enough up front right now quite frankly. Just not. I think more players on our football team need to take ownership in the team.”

The point I tried to make to you this morning TampaGator is that you are in the talent-rich state of Florida. You have recruited VERY POORLY. Your coach says in PUBLIC DAILY that he is CLEANING HOUSE. The don’t have the talent to compete. How can that be in the state of Florida ?

Running backs Jeff Demps and Chris Rainey are two of the smallest full-time backs in the SEC and the Gators have the third-smallest offensive line in the conference. In the first four games, against inferior opponents, the Gators were able to use Rainey and Demps in perimeter runs. Will Muschamp, critical about them in the UGA postgame, offers up to all comers :
_______________________________________________________
“I am going to hire an offensive coordinator that’s going to fit what I want done within our offense and within our system and make sure we get the right fit, because that’s really what it’s about. It’s kind of like recruiting. You’re going out and finding the right fit for what you want as you move forward. Philosophically, doing the things that I want to do.”
____________________________________________________
TampaGator states oh Will Muschamp is NOT DOING THAT.
Yeah, he is, according to himself. And, according to all the recruits.

2011, Will Muschamp’s 1st Recruiting Class – is NOT even in the Scout.com Top 25 Recruiting Classes. In FLORIDA. Not Top 25 class.
THESE ARE THE PLAYERS HE IS PLAYING. He says. True Freshmen Will Muschamp is discussing.
The year before Will Muschamp, the recruiting class for Florida was # 1 in the nation, according to the same Scout.com source. These are the Redshirt Freshmen this 2011 season.
The year before that it was # 21 recruit ranking for Florida according to same Scout.com. These are the Redshirt Sophomores this 2011 season.
The year before that # 12. These are the Redshirt Juniors this 2011 season.
The year before that # 1. These are the Redshirt or injured in their career Seniors this 2011 season.

Frankly, there is NO EXCUSE in the state of Florida for the recruiting class Will Muschamp put up this season. MAKING ALL THEM STARTERS is beyond comprehension.
The 3 classes that should be making up the EXPERIENCED PLAYERS on Will Muschamp’s ROSTER are # 12 # 1 and # 21. AND NONE OF THEM ARE PLAYING AT ALL, and you have a problem with Dawg48 writing in this blog today that Will Muschamp DOES NOT WANT THOSE GUYS in HIS system ?

Therein, is why I want Mark Richt to get his EXTENSION now.
What I expect vs # 12 Michigan State is that they will take advantage of us in returning kick-offs and in returning punts. It has happened all year long. We aren’t fixing it with walk-ons and no special teams’ coach between now and 3 Mondays from now. I also expect that we will get sacked. I expect them to also recover fumbles against our inept offense for this 11th season in a row. I further expect Kirk Cousins to be efficient back there not fumbling, not throwing interceptions and beating us. If we are to win against Michigan State, it will be up to Aaron Murray as it has been the previous 8 games of his career against teams who end up in the top 25. I see us being largely inefficient on offense. It’s what we do because, we, like Florida, do not take advantage of what talent we do have on Offense. We try to pigeonhole the recruits we ourselves brought in to do what our Offensive Scheme expects from that position, when others would be a more efficient job.
Look at what Matt Ryan did today. He got the lead. He watched everything go right for Cam Newton for a few minutes and we were losing 7-23. Then, he got very efficient and we won going away in a cakewalk. Our offense is not efficient that like; has not been in YEARS, and will not be corrected 3 Mondays from now.
I am working on our recruiting class right now. Obviously, the 1 Fullback we have committed, is not enough. Obviously, the very top-flight OL John Theus, needs 3 more like him. Obviously, someone on the staff knows which of these 6 Draft-Eligible Juniors and Sophomores might jump to the NFL – whichever they are become then HIGH PRIORITY for top-recruits there. I want big huge Safety with world-class speed and toughness. That does not seem to be too much to ask for. Just a few pieces to add. This business of giving all the scholarships up to walk-ons who would be here anyway, instead of these pieces, is what we need to work on.
Next year’s schedule now looks about the same as this year’s schedule. And, it will be with a proven QB, a proven tailback coming in who will be a top draft pick 3 years from now and he, Keith Marshall, is the LEADER this offense has needed for the last many years. On the Defensive side of the ball, we have it going on. Special Teams’ Coach 1st move will be to open every position to every player on the roster and to cease with this oh my star might get injured in a football game.

Auburn’s offense isn’t good enough to lose Michael Dyer for the remaining game this season. Next season, however, they could withstand this more. Not sure if it isn’t grades these few days after semester. It is that time of the year. We could have some too. At tailback as well. For the same issue. Auburn really cannot afford right now to have issues with grades, again, after all the grade-fixing they recently went through and professors claiming stacking of classes to get-around grades including online courses.
I am still seeing Auburn as a 1 and half point pick versus hapless Virginia in the bowl game later in December at the Peach Bowl for SEC team # 6 versus about their 2nd best ACC team – not that any of them are ranked. Auburn either. Thus, December bowl game.
You are going to hear of a lot of suspensions coming up, and most will not be so guarded in the reason as with Michael Dyer, 1st team All-SEC Tailback.

Well, you certainly came in here with a mouthful of lies about Florida gators, TampaGator.
6-6 team who LOST 20-24 among your 6 losses so-far dates your program back to 1979. Will Muschamp clearly has told everyone that he is replacing his current players, and he has specifically not played the players recruited there that were ranked # 12, # 21 and # 1 while instead playing players HE RECRUITED to HIS system this year instead who by the way are UNRANKED in the Scout.com Top 25 best recruiting classes for 2011 and that for the Flagship school in the state of Florida of all places. Amazing you would attempt to make excuses for him and for your football program. And, as for your crapola about Tim Tebow – no one thinks anything other than Denver 8-5 has his 12 TD passes ALL SEASON LONG to thank for their wins over nobody football teams like losing record Chicago yesterday and the other 2-11 teams he has beat on the coattails of his defense, certainly not his passing of 12 TD passes all season. He has started 11 NFL games, and is well known as NOT 1 of the better even quarterbacks. He is no different in NFL success than Rex Grossman or Steve Spurrier in the NFL after playing there at Florida. Steve Spurrier for his NFL career was 13-24-1 with 2 TD passes to every 3 Interceptions he threw. His career there as a coach in the NFL was even worse. And, everyone is big-time TURNED OFF by Tim Tebow’s public expressions of his Faith. If he wants to practice his religion, we are all all for it, but does he have to shove it down our throats in public like that ? No. Best of luck on getting some football players that DO fit in with Will Muschamp’s “system.”

Bahhaha…this is just wishful thinking on the part of the more attuned UGA fans who are looking for a way to “lose” Mark Richt without have to do the actual dirty work of telling him to hit the road.
NONE of the problems with the UGA program were addressed at all this season but that little reality was whitewashed by the scheduling quirks of 2011.
The more attuned UGA fans are praying nightly that Richt bolts because they know that the delusional beaners are so entralled that the university lacks the ability to get rid of Richt, even though most of them know the “turn-around” was a sham. It is a sham on par with the “great DC” who constantly has a defense which gets drug up and down the field or the ALL-SEC QB who usually scores more points for the other good teams UGA plays than for the Dawgs.
Don’t worry come Sept 2012, the beaners will again be calling for the heads of Richt and Bobo while ignoring the awful DC, but at least the rest of the top of the SEC are happy knowing that UGA is gong nowhere fast.

Not everyone is turned off by Tebow. I actually respect Tebow for his raw emotion he shows in his pressers after the game. He dares to be true to himself and his beliefs. As a UGA fan I could not pull for him during his tenure at Florida, but I still respected him.
Tim Tebow may not be a NFL HOF’er but no matter what he ultimately achieves in the NFL he will not allow himself to be defined by that. He understands more than any other NFL player his place in this world.
We want our children to look first to the parents as role models, but after that Tim Tebow is a athlete in todays generation I certainly would feel comfortable with my son admiring. It goes beyond colleges and stats. In the game of life Tim Tebow is the #1 Draft Pick.

4.29,
If you judge TT season on 12 Td’s then you have to take into account he has played in 8 of the 13 games. If you prorate those 12 TD’s by games it is 1.5 per game. If you then multiply the 1.5 by 13 then it is 19.5 TD passes, rounding up to 20. That would then put him tied for 11th in the NFL tied with Fitzpatrick.
That would then give you a better idea of where those TD passes actually rank him. That is in the upper half of NFL QB’s. Thats not to shabby for a FB playing QB.

He has completed 96 passes in 11 games, not 8. He averages 6.52 yards per pass, one of the worst in the NFL. In fact of 32 Quarterbacks this season, there are only 3 NFL Quarterbacks worse : Colt McCoy of Cleveland, Blaine Gabbart of JAX, and Sam Bradford of St. Louis.
48 % completion rate of his passes is the dead last worst in the NFL.
http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/player/_/stat/passing/sort/quarterbackRating
He has 11 TD passes, 2 interceptions; and has 7 fumbles this season in 94 rushing attempts with only 3 rushing touchdowns.
4-9 Miami he started against *
7-6 Oakland he started against*
5-8 Kansas City he started against
8-5 New York Jets he started against
6-7 San Diego he started against
2-11 Minnesota he started against*
7-6 Chicago he started against
8-5 Detroit he lost to
Only against Minnesota, Oakland and Miami has he thrown more than 1 TD pass. In those 3, he threw 2. They have a 13-27 combined record. In all the other games, he has thrown either one or zero touchdown passes.
When this is in fact, in the top half of the NFL; let me know, ok ?
He has played in twenty (20) games and started 11 in his career. He has 9 rushing touchdowns and 8 fumbles. He has thrown 16 TD with 5 interceptions and has been sacked 29 times with 48 percent completion rate for his entire career for 6.9 yards per pass.
He has 3 games remaining 10-3 New England and two (2) more 5-8 teams Kansas City and Buffalo. He has beat teams who are a combined 39-52 on the season 42 percent win percentage, the bottom half of the NFL, and when the season is over, the combined records of all the teams he beat will be 49-68 a 42 percent win percentage of the teams he won against with his fine Denver Broncos Defense of which he is such a special part, you know ?

I just look at his footwork and lack of completions against the sorriest group of teams he has started against winning only 42 percent of their games, along with the fact that I expect the Quarterback in the NFL to throw for more than 6 yards per pass. Now, if you want to talk about guys -sure he is good guy. There is no doubt on that. But, we have folks in here trying to pass him off as 1 of the very best NFL Quarterbacks because his Denver Defense is so good while he cannot complete half his passes against even this lackluster set of opponents.
4-12 is the record of the Denver Broncos last season. This means that they get the worst easiest cupcake schedule the NFL can possibly put together for them. If you don’t know what you are talking about in NFL schedules, then don’t address the fact that he CANNOT COMPETE as an NFL Quarterback. He NEVER will.

If you then multiply the 1.5 by 13 then it is 19.5 TD passes, rounding up to 20. That would then put him tied for 11th in the NFL tied with Fitzpatrick.”

Which is it please ? (1) Your latest statement that NO ONE is passing him off as very good, or (2) Before I presented where he ACTUALLY is in NFL as a Quarterback, Your statement that he is 11th best ?
You almost have him in the top 10 best quarterbacks in the NFL today.
You certainly also say that no one is passing him off as very good.

Proselytizing, preaching, evangelizing, converting the world to his religion whenever he scores, which is not very often. Why does he not do the same when he doesn’t do diddle-e-squat ? Would it not be his Faith that brought about the results that more than 1 out of every 2 passes go INCOMPLETE from him ?
Tim Tebow credits God for a football victory. He is ostensibly saying that God caused the other team to lose.
He turns religion into the basis for every little thing that happens in his life. When someone criticizes his antics, they’re a tortured soul because they haven’t embraced Jesus to the same extent. When someone criticizes his throwing motion, they’re a hater because they allow his strong-willed personality to cloud their judgment. When someone says his footwork stinks to high heaven, they’re Antichrist.
He isn’t 7-1 because of God, and he isn’t 7-1 because he is the 11th best Quarterback in the NFL.
At the Scouting Combine, the Wonderlic exam is administered to players in groups. The 12-minute test is preceded by some brief instructions and comments from the person administering the test.
Per a league source, after the person administering the test to Tebow’s group had finished, Tebow made a request that the players bow their heads in prayer before taking the 50-question exam.
Said one of the other players in response: “Shut the f up.” Others players in the room then laughed.
He scored a 22 out of 50 on the Wonderlic test. Was God not listening to only him in this NFL exam ?
While Tebow is free to display his faith any way he wants as private citizen, if football fans want religion, they can watch The 700 Club. Some fans just want to watch a football game.
Tim Tebow also gets criticized because at this stage of his development, he is not a good quarterback. Tebow is a fine athlete who is succeeding based on athleticism and an offensive system that is a gimmick. Many fans are turned off on Tebow because they feel that the worship of him is irrational and unjustified.
If criticism of Tim Tebow is off limits because of his faith, then what’s next?
There is no evidence of anti-Christian mainstream media bias, but you have provided plenty of evidence today pro-Christian media bullying is alive and well.

So every time you post back-to-back comments to the same blog even, 1 saying Tebow is the # 11 best QB in the NFL and the very next post same day by you Lowcountry Bulldawg that no 1 is passing him off as very good, then you are giving food for thought that is all.
Pardon me if I don’t buy that. You have made 2 completely divergent statements about this controversial figure who has played cupcakes and has sorry results to show for it, bad mechanics, and horrid footwork, while relying upon his Defense.
I ask again. Is Tebow # 11 best QB in the NFL today or is he instead that not anyone is passing him off as very good ? Simple question. It’s 1 or the other. This is not a trick question.

Not sure how these comments on CMR turned into a Tebow debate, ( I guess because they’re both open about their faith) but i’ll add my 2 cents.
I for one am a Tebow fan……..being a UGA fan, it was tough to root for him at UF, but the guy wins football games. Fantasy guys or those who just love stats aren’t gonna ever be fans, but I don’t see people being “turned off” by his faith. Some folks poke fun at him, and that’s OK. As Christians, we expect that sort of thing from time to time. Like DawginLex stated, Christians are mandated to spread the Gospel thru words & actions, and that’s all the man’s doing. If anyone doesn’t like the message, they’re free to ignore. I hope they won’t, but they certainly can.

My criticism of him besides his low yardage per pass, less than half of his passes completions, the few TD runs he has, the great number of fumbles per runs he has, his horrid footwork, his poor mechanics, his inability to read good defenses, his reliance upon his own defense of which he is not a part, his 42 percent win percentage his “opponents” have this season since Denver and he were only 4-12 last season, his motion, and the manner in which he crams his religion upon everyone else under the guise of I have to preach the gospel after every play after every game and even when taking the Wonderlic Test that everyone in the room has to stop and say a Prayer to God and Jesus before they can even take the test with him -
is of course, that he only has 12 TD passes with 2 each against the 3 worst teams in the NFL and one or zero against everyone else.
So, if 12 is really 11th best in the NFL, we are all to presume that your point is that he really is good.
I mean, I am obviously stating the EXACT OPPOSITE.
To which your point is that – of course, I am wrong and you are right.

You have provided plenty of evidence today pro-Christian blog bullying is alive and well. I would prefer that Tim Tebow and Mark Richt were judged and discussed on football. I have a problem with people telling other people how to live their lives, when it seems to me in their chosen profession, both are open to much debate on the merits of their success in their Calling. Neither are being discussed by me as a Minister. Both are being discussed by me as football players. I am a Christian myself. Do you see me in here telling everyone to Pray before they blog their nasty comments to me in here daily ? You have a lot of nerve talking to me about what a great Witness Tim Tebow is with the unkind, selfish, lying, cheating, unfriendly, hostile, harsh, mean, cruel, unpleasant, opposite of Jesus posts you post in here every day to every person who ever has the audacity to challenge you on any of your waffling incongruous inconsistent absurd bizarre inharmonious points all of which make you out anything but a Disciple. Uh, why? He cetainly has not won as many championships as they have.
This part about extension confuses me. If you always have to have at least 5 years on the contract for “recruiting”, then you can never fire someone (unless you want to pay off five years of their contract). It is only a recipe for keeping someone forever. Put some pressure on Richt, don’t give him an extension. Recruits will come if we are WINNERS. What hurts our recruiting is that players get recruited, but not coached up and they end up playing for a mediocre team and that makes them look mediocre, too. That is why the talent goes to Alabama, LSU, etc. Because they are WINNERS. It is about time we became WINNERS, too.

Did Richt look at an offer form Texas A & M? no doubt, several newspapers said so. Richt had to cover his bases because McGarity, believe it or not, STILL, hasn’t found the time to get around to Mark Richt’s contract.
Guess Richt isn’t that important to McGarity, or else he would make the time.
