Richt: ‘I have not talked to any other school about a job’

Georgia football coach Mark Richt expressed Saturday his gratification over UGA’s desire to extend his contract and intimated that, contrary to reports in Texas, he did not speak with Texas A&M about its coaching job.

“I’ve said many times Georgia is the place I want to be as long as Georgia will have me. That has never changed,” Richt said in a statement. “And it’s gratifying to know Georgia wants me.

“I have not talked to any other school about a job, nor do I have any interest in doing so. My interest is having a great recruiting year and start building toward next season.”

A report Friday in the San Antonio Express-News and Houston Chronicle, citing an unnamed source, said Richt was “in the mix” for the Texas A&M job. The papers reported Saturday that Richt declined A&M’s job offer.

UGA athletic director Greg McGarity met with Richt on Friday to open discussions about extending the coach’s contract, which has two years remaining. McGarity said the meeting was planned before the A&M reports, which McGarity dismissed.

McGarity said he had not been contacted by A&M athletic director Bill Byrne and would have been if the Aggies were pursuing Richt.

Late Saturday afternoon, Texas A&M announced the hiring of Houston coach Kevin Sumlin.

McGarity said he and Richt will continue to talk about a contract extension. “He wants to be our coach,” McGarity said. “We want him to be our coach.”

Richt has a 106-37 record at Georgia, but his job appeared in jeopardy when the Bulldogs followed a 6-7 record in 2010 with back-to-back losses to start this season. The Dogs then won 10 consecutive games and the SEC East title.

Tim Tebow is not asking anyone to worship him

Tim Tebow thanks God for everything in his life

If we had more Tim Tebows in politics and running companies, there would be a whole lot less crap going on.

So every time you post back-to-back comments to the same blog even, 1 saying Tebow is the # 11 best QB in the NFL and the very next post same day by you Lowcountry Bulldawg that no 1 is passing him off as very good, then you are giving food for thought that is all.

Pardon me if I don’t buy that. You have made 2 completely divergent statements about this controversial figure who has played cupcakes and has sorry results to show for it, bad mechanics, and horrid footwork, while relying upon his Defense.

I ask again. Is Tebow # 11 best QB in the NFL today or is he instead that not anyone is passing him off as very good ? Simple question. It’s 1 or the other. This is not a trick question.

Where did I say he was the 11th best QB? I said it would put him tied for 11th in TD passes. Again you fail at making your point Mathew,Thomas,buLLdawg AND now 4.29. Putting words in peoples mouth is your niche.

He wants you to join him as a Christ follower but there is a little thing called free will that is still in place.

The decision is still yours.

If you choose to reject Christ because you don’t believe in Him, when you die, you better be right.

Christians are mandated to tell others. You don’t have to listen or accept it.

How about I just watch him play football ?

And, decide that he isn’t and would NOT be # 11 QB in the NFL in any way, fashion, or manner.

THERE ISN’T ANYONE PUTTING WORDS IN YOUR MOUTH :

“If you judge TT season on 12 Td’s then you have to take into account he has played in 8 of the 13 games. If you prorate those 12 TD’s by games it is 1.5 per game. If you then multiply the 1.5 by 13 then it is 19.5 TD passes, rounding up to 20. That would then put him tied for 11th in the NFL tied with Fitzpatrick.”

Ok, bloggers…why is it that 4.29 is not getting this point? The post does not again state any way that he is the 11th best QB in the NFL. It states again for the hard of understanding he would be tied for 11th in TD passes.

or

Your point is ? Tim Tebow is a very good quarterback ?

You make statements. You just don’t want to be pinned down on any of them. I can see why. You are confusing, son.

Not sure how these comments on CMR turned into a Tebow debate, ( I guess because they’re both open about their faith) but i’ll add my 2 cents.
I for one am a Tebow fan……..being a UGA fan, it was tough to root for him at UF, but the guy wins football games. Fantasy guys or those who just love stats aren’t gonna ever be fans, but I don’t see people being “turned off” by his faith. Some folks poke fun at him, and that’s OK. As Christians, we expect that sort of thing from time to time. Like DawginLex stated, Christians are mandated to spread the Gospel thru words & actions, and that’s all the man’s doing. If anyone doesn’t like the message, they’re free to ignore. I hope they won’t, but they certainly can.

The man took a 1-4 team and turned it into an 8-5 team and a playoff contender. The folks in Denver don’t care what God he prays to. They just hope he keeps it up.

Don’t want pinned down on them? I cannot help that you do not possess the reasoning skills to follow a simple blog post. Although one would assume with a 4.29 you would be capable.

Old saying is, ” God gave you two ears and one mouth for a reason. So you can listen twice as much as you talk.” This fits you very well. Read and comprehend what is written before calculating a dumb remark.

My criticism of him besides his low yardage per pass, less than half of his passes completions, the few TD runs he has, the great number of fumbles per runs he has, his horrid footwork, his poor mechanics, his inability to read good defenses, his reliance upon his own defense of which he is not a part, his 42 percent win percentage his “opponents” have this season since Denver and he were only 4-12 last season, his motion, and the manner in which he crams his religion upon everyone else under the guise of I have to preach the gospel after every play after every game and even when taking the Wonderlic Test that everyone in the room has to stop and say a Prayer to God and Jesus before they can even take the test with him -

is of course, that he only has 12 TD passes with 2 each against the 3 worst teams in the NFL and one or zero against everyone else.

So, if 12 is really 11th best in the NFL, we are all to presume that your point is that he really is good.

I mean, I am obviously stating the EXACT OPPOSITE.

To which your point is that – of course, I am wrong and you are right.

I am turned off by him telling everyone to stop and have a Prayer with him. I am a football fan. I watch him to watch football. I do not see a Christian. What I see is a poor quarterback. You have provided plenty of evidence today pro-Christian blog bullying is alive and well. I would prefer that Tim Tebow and Mark Richt were judged and discussed on football. I have a problem with people telling other people how to live their lives, when it seems to me in their chosen profession, both are open to much debate on the merits of their success in their Calling. Neither are being discussed by me as a Minister. Both are being discussed by me as football players. I am a Christian myself. Do you see me in here telling everyone to Pray before they blog their nasty comments to me in here daily ? You have a lot of nerve talking to me about what a great Witness Tim Tebow is with the unkind, selfish, lying, cheating, unfriendly, hostile, harsh, mean, cruel, unpleasant, opposite of Jesus posts you post in here every day to every person who ever has the audacity to challenge you on any of your waffling incongruous inconsistent absurd bizarre inharmonious points all of which make you out anything but a Disciple. You’re a very poor Witness, and yet preach away you do – like I should then as a result of your posts for all these years on this blog, Bow Down to YOU.

Or any of the rest of us, in here, you each daily do the same to in every post you EVER write.

“The NC will come with patience.”

Eleven years and waiting. Good news is I hear he is now studying the game of football. He will get his extension and we will have 7 years of bad luck, sort of like breaking a mirror. After 7 more years, will we then be ready for a change in HC?

Old Dog

December 13th, 2011

“He should be getting the same money as the elite coaches like saban and miles”

Uh, why? He cetainly has not won as many championships as they have.

This part about extension confuses me. If you always have to have at least 5 years on the contract for “recruiting”, then you can never fire someone (unless you want to pay off five years of their contract). It is only a recipe for keeping someone forever. Put some pressure on Richt, don’t give him an extension. Recruits will come if we are WINNERS. What hurts our recruiting is that players get recruited, but not coached up and they end up playing for a mediocre team and that makes them look mediocre, too. That is why the talent goes to Alabama, LSU, etc. Because they are WINNERS. It is about time we became WINNERS, too.
