Richt: ‘I have not talked to any other school about a job’

Georgia football coach Mark Richt expressed Saturday his gratification over UGA’s desire to extend his contract and intimated that, contrary to reports in Texas, he did not speak with Texas A&M about its coaching job.

“I’ve said many times Georgia is the place I want to be as long as Georgia will have me. That has never changed,” Richt said in a statement. “And it’s gratifying to know Georgia wants me.

“I have not talked to any other school about a job, nor do I have any interest in doing so. My interest is having a great recruiting year and start building toward next season.”

A report Friday in the San Antonio Express-News and Houston Chronicle, citing an unnamed source, said Richt was “in the mix” for the Texas A&M job. The papers reported Saturday that Richt declined A&M’s job offer.

UGA athletic director Greg McGarity met with Richt on Friday to open discussions about extending the coach’s contract, which has two years remaining. McGarity said the meeting was planned before the A&M reports, which McGarity dismissed.

McGarity said he had not been contacted by A&M athletic director Bill Byrne and would have been if the Aggies were pursuing Richt.

Late Saturday afternoon, Texas A&M announced the hiring of Houston coach Kevin Sumlin.

McGarity said he and Richt will continue to talk about a contract extension. “He wants to be our coach,” McGarity said. “We want him to be our coach.”

Richt has a 106-37 record at Georgia, but his job appeared in jeopardy when the Bulldogs followed a 6-7 record in 2010 with back-to-back losses to start this season. The Dogs then won 10 consecutive games and the SEC East title.

People, an apostrophe is not a warning that an S is coming. Plurlas do not require an apostrophe. Contractions involving “is” and possessives require apostrophes. Also, learn the difference between “your and you’re,” and “their, they’re, there.” The grammar and syntax of some of you posters is horrendous. You are only giving ammunition to those jackass nerds at Tech by showing your ignorance like this.

CMR is a great man. If my son was playing college football, I would love for him to learn life lessions from Richt. As a football coach, I don’t believe he will win a national championship for UGA. We’ve certainly had the talent but he’s commitment to his friends like Martinez will stand in his way to winning the big prize. Again, love the man but not so much the coach. GO DAWGS!!!

Richt isn’t leaving. His contract calls for him to pay a $2 million penalty if he leaves before it ends in two years. In addition, in Dec. 2013 he will earn $2.4 longevity bonus. That’s a $4.4 million swing. That’s all in addition to the fact he was the number 10 paid coach in the country at the begining of this season.

Richt and UGA tied themselves together financially and neither wants to end the agreement anyway. Someone needs to check the ethics of those reporting that Richt turned down or even considered an offer. It’s one thing in a blog comment and something else when false information is reported by someone calling themself a reporter.

Don’t extend Richt’s contract yet…when was the last time we beat a team favored against us? When was the last time we beat a team that finished in the top 15? Richt/Murray/Cox/et al have been padding their records against inferrior teams. At $3M a year, I think we can do a lot better. What’s Richt’s bowl record and how often have we been the underdog? Note to AD McGarity – If you extend Richt’s contract, the length of the contract will determine how long UGA will go WITHOUT a shot at the National Championship and without a SEC Championship. You have apparently bought into the nice guy image and have forgone a chance for a coaching staff that can take advantage of the talent in this state and be a player in the national championship game. Apparently you want to stay at UGA for the rest of your career too. You and Richt must have a mutual compact.

Coach Mark Richt said he has not talked to another school, he has not talked to another. He said he wants to be at UGA as long as he is wanted, then he will be. After 20 he may decide to hang it up. The man is as honest as the day is long period.

Just a reminder a record of 106-37 is a better winning % of Miles, Saban, and all other coaches in SEC. The man is a winner.

Will be playing LSU in SEC championship game next several years and will get a shot at BCS title in that period.

Coach will be here long after Spurrier, Saban, and most others long gone.

They need new players down there.”

What coach goes to one of the top programs in the whole country with arguably the greatest class ever recruited 2 years ago and cleans them out? Some players, especially on the OL, need to get better….or they will not be playing much in the future. Muschamp demands you work within his system and perfom at a high level consistently to play for the Gators…..and the players who have left did not follow the program or fit within it. If anyone else leaves, then the same applies. Muschamp will coach up those who stay and he will go get the players he needs to win in the SEC……just the facts.

Never been a fan of McIntosh, as you can buy much more Windows which is the Industry Standard, for a lot less money. It was a gimmick getting the children to use MAC in grammar schools. They charge too much. Now, without Steve Jobs, they will falter further into oblivion. Who is going to pay that much money for something clearly inferior ? You pay $ 1000 for a MAC laptop that you can buy all day long on Windows for $ 399. But, it’s what I do for a living. What do I know about it ?

Yes, Bobby Dodd dropped out of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Then, we hired Vince Dooley. Vince Dooley never lost to Bobby Dodd, not 1 time, and Vince Dooley beat Bobby Dodd every game. Then, Bobby Dodd took Georgia tek out of The SEC over Revenue sharing, stating at the time, that Georgia tek “could not compete against the state universities, and I consider Auburn a state university, too.” Today, Revenue Sharing pays SEC teams $ 20 million dollars each per season. It is expected that adding the footprint of Texas Dallas and Houston and of Missouri St. Louis will bring this total up to in the neighborhood of $ 34 million each. In any case even the $20 million, is twice that which Missouri and Texas A&M get from the Big XII this last year by direct comparison. Then, there is little Georgia tek whose annual profits are zero. Real smart Bobby Dodd. And, for that, they name their football stadium for you. The adjective historic is reference to the fact that the stadium is very poorly engineered, extremely out-of-date with no funds to bring it into this century, and in a bad part of town, where the fans and indeed the students themselves do not feel safe. Attendance at the historic field named for the college DROP-OUT Bobby Dodd for this last year shows that Georgia tek averages 48,232 in attendance ranking Bobby Dodd historic # 47 in the nation downtown in a city of 6 million, directly compared thereto Sanford Stadium at 92,613 with only 7 having more attendance in the nation. I’d say Bobby Dodd did a disservice to Georgia tek in removing Georgia tek from The SEC. They will NEVER be allowed back. 31-17 for 10 of the 11 games of Mark Richt vs Georgia tek – no wonder Georgia tek fans (both of them) have 1 guy in here all day long today, logging out as 1 handle back in as another talking with each other.

JARVIS JONES is the only Georgia Bulldogs’ football player who has ANY HOPE whatsoever of being in the College Football Hall of Fame based upon this season’s performance, and it only his 1st season with us. Had he been with us out of Carver – Columbus 2 years ago, he would be a 1st Round Draft Pick in a few months, and still might be, or close. What is going on is that the NFL puts these guys such as David Pollack and Jarvis Jones at Linebacker, whereas until last season, we played them at Defensive End, only to not fit in in the NFL at DE where their DE are 300 lbs. plus. They have no choice but play Linebacker in NFL. It speaks for itself that Jarvis Jones is # 1 in The SEC in SACKS and in Tackles for a Loss and # 3 in the nation in SACKS and # 10 in the nation in Tackles for a Loss. I don’t know how many years he would have to play here to make the College Football Hall of Fame, but I do know that only he at UGA this season as a Consensus All-America, is eligible for College Football HOF.

TampaGator comes in here with his platitudes about BEATING GEORGIA, yet I seem to recall the score is 24-20 Georgia. He seems to think that Tim Tebow is a great NFL Quarterback because he has beat some sorry football teams, and has a great defense. And, no what Georgia fans say TampaGator is that the GPOE is Herschel Walker, not Tim Tebow. A mom should have the right to make her own choice, not have someone else pass a LAW that she has no say about her own choice in her own life. If you want to legislate what others do with their lives, you might spend that time actually making choices in your own life instead. Tim Tebow is turning the world off to him with his constant reminders about his own mom on this very issue, and most especially also with his PUBLIC DISPLAYS OF JESUS CHRIST. If he wants to practice his religion, I am all for it. This has nothing to do with God that he has played WEAK TEAMS and has himself on his own team, a stellar defense. Who won today, Matt Ryan or Cam Newton ? Ryan got ahead 7 to nothing. Cam put up 23 unanswered points. He lost in a blow-out at the end to Matt Ryan, a Quarterback.

TampaGator, as for coming in here and saying you don’t know where Dawg48 got his quotes that Will Muschamp is telling EVERYONE that he is CLEANING HOUSE, that is not smart on your part either, TampaGator sir. It is common knowledge for anyone watching any post-game interview ALL SEASON LONG. Did you think only you watched him after the game at the GATOR BOWL earlier this season after he LOST to Georgia ?

Just last week Will Muschamp offered up this gem. Did you read it either ? You can take any quote and put it into google search and see where he makes these types of comments, after EVERY GAME all season long.

“At the end of the day when you’re not able to run the football, you’re going to have a hard time winning games against a good defense. When you become a one-dimensional team, when you’re a lateral running team and you can’t run the ball inside and you can’t run the ball vertically at people, you’re gonna struggle. And we haven’t been able to do that. We’re a soft football team. We’re not a physically tough team and we’re not a mentally tough team. We need to get better on both lines of scrimmage, because until you do that it’s gonna be very difficult to beat the teams in our league.’ So, disappointed with that. We need to get better. We need to improve.”

“That’s what recruiting’s for, ” Will Muschamp continued last week.

“We didn’t improve our football team from last year’s record and I felt like we should have. We’re doing all we can do with what we’ve got right now.”

“You wanna play guard for us? We had 15 freshmen and sophomores starting out of our top 22 – more than anybody else in the SEC. Over 70 percent of our roster is freshmen and sophomores, and those are the guys who are playing. We’re not good enough up front right now quite frankly. Just not. I think more players on our football team need to take ownership in the team.”

The point I tried to make to you this morning TampaGator is that you are in the talent-rich state of Florida. You have recruited VERY POORLY. Your coach says in PUBLIC DAILY that he is CLEANING HOUSE. The don’t have the talent to compete. How can that be in the state of Florida ?

Running backs Jeff Demps and Chris Rainey are two of the smallest full-time backs in the SEC and the Gators have the third-smallest offensive line in the conference. In the first four games, against inferior opponents, the Gators were able to use Rainey and Demps in perimeter runs. Will Muschamp, critical about them in the UGA postgame, offers up to all comers :
_______________________________________________________
“I am going to hire an offensive coordinator that’s going to fit what I want done within our offense and within our system and make sure we get the right fit, because that’s really what it’s about. It’s kind of like recruiting. You’re going out and finding the right fit for what you want as you move forward. Philosophically, doing the things that I want to do.”
____________________________________________________
TampaGator states oh Will Muschamp is NOT DOING THAT.

Yeah, he is, according to himself. And, according to all the recruits.

THESE ARE THE PLAYERS HE IS PLAYING. He says. True Freshmen Will Muschamp is discussing.

The year before Will Muschamp, the recruiting class for Florida was # 1 in the nation, according to the same Scout.com source. These are the Redshirt Freshmen this 2011 season.

The year before that it was # 21 recruit ranking for Florida according to same Scout.com. These are the Redshirt Sophomores this 2011 season.

The year before that # 12. These are the Redshirt Juniors this 2011 season.

Therein, is why I want Mark Richt to get his EXTENSION now.

What I expect vs # 12 Michigan State is that they will take advantage of us in returning kick-offs and in returning punts. It has happened all year long. We aren’t fixing it with walk-ons and no special teams’ coach between now and 3 Mondays from now. I also expect that we will get sacked. I expect them to also recover fumbles against our inept offense for this 11th season in a row. I further expect Kirk Cousins to be efficient back there not fumbling, not throwing interceptions and beating us. If we are to win against Michigan State, it will be up to Aaron Murray as it has been the previous 8 games of his career against teams who end up in the top 25. I see us being largely inefficient on offense. It’s what we do because, we, like Florida, do not take advantage of what talent we do have on Offense. We try to pigeonhole the recruits we ourselves brought in to do what our Offensive Scheme expects from that position, when others would be a more efficient job.

Look at what Matt Ryan did today. He got the lead. He watched everything go right for Cam Newton for a few minutes and we were losing 7-23. Then, he got very efficient and we won going away in a cakewalk. Our offense is not efficient that like; has not been in YEARS, and will not be corrected 3 Mondays from now.

I am working on our recruiting class right now. Obviously, the 1 Fullback we have committed, is not enough. Obviously, the very top-flight OL John Theus, needs 3 more like him. Obviously, someone on the staff knows which of these 6 Draft-Eligible Juniors and Sophomores might jump to the NFL – whichever they are become then HIGH PRIORITY for top-recruits there. I want big huge Safety with world-class speed and toughness. That does not seem to be too much to ask for. Just a few pieces to add. This business of giving all the scholarships up to walk-ons who would be here anyway, instead of these pieces, is what we need to work on.

Next year’s schedule now looks about the same as this year’s schedule. And, it will be with a proven QB, a proven tailback coming in who will be a top draft pick 3 years from now and he, Keith Marshall, is the LEADER this offense has needed for the last many years. On the Defensive side of the ball, we have it going on. Special Teams’ Coach 1st move will be to open every position to every player on the roster and to cease with this oh my star might get injured in a football game.

Auburn’s offense isn’t good enough to lose Michael Dyer for the remaining game this season. Next season, however, they could withstand this more. Not sure if it isn’t grades these few days after semester. It is that time of the year. We could have some too. At tailback as well. For the same issue. Auburn really cannot afford right now to have issues with grades, again, after all the grade-fixing they recently went through and professors claiming stacking of classes to get-around grades including online courses.

I am still seeing Auburn as a 1 and half point pick versus hapless Virginia in the bowl game later in December at the Peach Bowl for SEC team # 6 versus about their 2nd best ACC team – not that any of them are ranked. Auburn either. Thus, December bowl game.

You are going to hear of a lot of suspensions coming up, and most will not be so guarded in the reason as with Michael Dyer, 1st team All-SEC Tailback.

Well, you certainly came in here with a mouthful of lies about Florida gators, TampaGator.

6-6 team who LOST 20-24 among your 6 losses so-far dates your program back to 1979. Will Muschamp clearly has told everyone that he is replacing his current players, and he has specifically not played the players recruited there that were ranked # 12, # 21 and # 1 while instead playing players HE RECRUITED to HIS system this year instead who by the way are UNRANKED in the Scout.com Top 25 best recruiting classes for 2011 and that for the Flagship school in the state of Florida of all places. Amazing you would attempt to make excuses for him and for your football program. And, as for your crapola about Tim Tebow – no one thinks anything other than Denver 8-5 has his 12 TD passes ALL SEASON LONG to thank for their wins over nobody football teams like losing record Chicago yesterday and the other 2-11 teams he has beat on the coattails of his defense, certainly not his passing of 12 TD passes all season. He has started 11 NFL games, and is well known as NOT 1 of the better even quarterbacks. He is no different in NFL success than Rex Grossman or Steve Spurrier in the NFL after playing there at Florida. Steve Spurrier for his NFL career was 13-24-1 with 2 TD passes to every 3 Interceptions he threw. His career there as a coach in the NFL was even worse. And, everyone is big-time TURNED OFF by Tim Tebow’s public expressions of his Faith. If he wants to practice his religion, we are all all for it, but does he have to shove it down our throats in public like that ? No. Best of luck on getting some football players that DO fit in with Will Muschamp’s “system.”

Bahhaha…this is just wishful thinking on the part of the more attuned UGA fans who are looking for a way to “lose” Mark Richt without have to do the actual dirty work of telling him to hit the road.

NONE of the problems with the UGA program were addressed at all this season but that little reality was whitewashed by the scheduling quirks of 2011.

The more attuned UGA fans are praying nightly that Richt bolts because they know that the delusional beaners are so entralled that the university lacks the ability to get rid of Richt, even though most of them know the “turn-around” was a sham. It is a sham on par with the “great DC” who constantly has a defense which gets drug up and down the field or the ALL-SEC QB who usually scores more points for the other good teams UGA plays than for the Dawgs.

Don’t worry come Sept 2012, the beaners will again be calling for the heads of Richt and Bobo while ignoring the awful DC, but at least the rest of the top of the SEC are happy knowing that UGA is gong nowhere fast.
