Greetings from inside the Georgia Dome, where it is 72 degrees and sunny even in here. It’s so bright and clear outside it’s actually shining through the off-white teflon roof. Too bad they don’t have an outdoor stadium today.
OK, let’s go ahead and get it out of the way. I’ve already seen Isaiah Crowell today, dressed out and warming up with the rest of the Bulldogs. Whether he actually plays or not I cannot tell you for certain. I asked UGA publicist Claude Felton just 45 minutes ago and he did not know, referring instead to head coach Mark Richt’s statement Friday that it would be a “game-time decision.”
It’s almost game time, so I guess we’ll find out soon enough.
For what it’s worth, Richard Samuel was not warming up with the backs.
Perhaps just as important is the health of starting defensive end DeAngelo Tyson. His availability was in question all week with an ankle injury that knocked him out of the Georgia Tech game on the first series. But he was moving around pretty well during warmups and was announced as the starter for the Bulldogs, so that’s good news for Georgia.
As far as the game, I’ll reiterate that the Bulldogs, their head coach and their two coordinators are extremely confident. There is a genuine belief within the UGA camp that they match up well and can hang with No. 1-ranked LSU. Run defense and offensive diversity, they contend, give them an edge. Special teams and turnovers will be the wildcard, as always.
Last chance to let me know what you think? Do Dogs cover the 13.5? Do they pull off the upset?

7576DAWG, stay on the east side of Tampa and it is only 50 minutes to Disney. Dawgs should have no shame, had a great run and beat their 4 top rivals. Richt not on hot seat anymore, great season.

[b]Isaiah Crowell dressed out, Bulldogs ready for LSU

Evidently not ready and should have sat IC on the bench in street cloths. I hope CMR sets his butt down for the bowl game and will let him think about if he wants to play or show his a$$.

I’ve been a Georgia Tech fan since 1960 and have neither read nor commented on this blog this year. Yeah, I know 10 out of 11, “high school offense,” “Joke by the Coke, etc.,etc. etc. Hate it. Nevertheless, I want UGA to do well except in one game per year. Just a little reality check here. You guys have a good coach. CMR had his team ready to play with a good game plan. He made a gutsy call with the onside kick. Coach Bobo’s play calls had receivers wide open in the first half against a great secondary. Then, sheer talent took over, just as happened in the GT-UGA game. The punt return did to you guys exactly what the kickoff return to start the second half did to us last week: it opened the floodgates of doubt and sheer ability and depth took over. Emotion and effort can take a team only so far. Make those catches in the first half and it’s a game, though IMHO, LSU wins a close game. We’ll never know.
UGA will play a good team in a bowl with an opportunity to end the season on a high note. Good luck. As a former HS coach, the most worriesome thing to me (were I a UGA fan) was I. Crowell’s reaction to CMR after the penalty. Say what you will about CPJ, I cannot imagine one of our running backs turning his back on the head coach and walking away while being talked to. Just wouldn’t happen. Sad. Tells me that Crowell’s either already gone or incredibly immature. I hate to see wasted talent even at UGA. I’ll take our less talented RB, David Sims, every time. He at least shows up and plays hard every game.
It must gall you guys that the best team you defeated this year was a rebuilding GT squad, a game you won fair and square. The SEC has two great teams, three good teams (UGA, SC, ARK.) and is otherwise mediocre. The gap between Alabama/LSU and everybody else is staggering in spite of the fact that neither of them has great QB’s. Don’t see that changing anytime soon. Not gloating here, I’m not like some of my Yellow Jacket fans. Yesterday doesn’t ease the sting of last Saturday even a little bit.

My baby said 14-34 as we were going to the game.
She was spot-on. Told her that pre-game.
Actual 10-42.
I guess she didn’t figure on the total collapse of the “coaching staff” of Mark Richt in the 2nd half.
I know she figured in the game-costing fumble up 10-7, then down 10-14 and the 2 interceptions to pile it on.
I said 4 Touchdowns. I didn’t miss it, either, did I ?

Funny how those that aren’t playing for a championship are dogging the dawgs for losing one. What can you say. These techies on here, and the wannabe fans need to realize that UGA played/lost but played for the championship. We won the East, and now we will win a bowl.
I think that Ken Malcome knew what he was talking about earlier in the year. He has been the best back in the last three games. He also seems to know how to pick up the blitz. Glad to see Crowell dress out, too bad he didn’t show up.

Dropped TD passes, missed FG(again), special teams!!!!. Why kick the ball to Matheiu? Matheiu is the best player in college football. Oh well. Why run up the middle on every down with 3 point lead? LSU is an outstanding team!! Ga is a very good team. Outback bowl? Next Season- Ga must hire a Special Teams coach; Ga has to run the ball in the SEC; Let’s win the bowl game!

The rbs never had any room to run the ball. Hershell Walker wouldn’t have had a chance. To predictable. Alabama is the only team in the Nation that can match up with the talent of LSU. Ga has alot of weaknesses coming into this game. Great comeback seaon for the MR and the Dawgs. Looks like MR saved his job this season.

It’s time to call out Crowell and the McClendon recruiting approach at RB. UGA needs multiple backs to use in a power running game. (See LSU, Alabama, USC). Not more skinny kids from tiny schools where they can just run away from weak competition (see Crowell and Ealey). We need more big backs (Samuel) and kids that have had to earn their yardage against tough HS competition (Malcome). UGA does not have a deep power running game and they wont be able to move the ball against top competition until they do. Enough already with kids who look great at the combine and then take themselves out after every hit because they are not used to it.
You should be asking the questions over the recruiting season as to how the next group is going to allow UGA to compete better with LSU and Alabama and USC. Forget the combine rankings. Who are they going to bring in that will be able to run over some people and get a first down on 3rd and 3 against S Carolina?

Let’s see, though there were many drops and misplays in the 1st half, it was actually working and keeping LSU off balance. 2nd half they went back to the run, which was probably what LSU prepared for and nothing worked. I am pretty sure if you keep LSU off balanced, like they did in the 1st half, eventually those drops would have turned into catches. Still no excuse for all the drops and missed interceptions possibilities, but just a big if. .

Just give me 16 more views for 10,000 total and I will leave you alone forever more here at the AJC! Thanks to all who have viewed it. This kid really wants to go to Georgia Tech. His dad is an Internal Medicine doctor. So he can afford to walk on for a couple of years. The problem is, he needs a little help from football to be accepted at Tech (to get into school there). Decent grades but only has a 26 on his ACT. High school teammate of Georgia Tech OG Shaq Mason. Video already sent to Tech coaches but hard to get it in the hands of the right guy. Any help form Tech boosters will be rewarded with 3-4 years of 90% made field goals from inside 50 yards. Watch for your self and thanks again!

Eye test???? BCS 1&2????? Quality loss???? Exactly what is a quality loss??? Who knows????
IMHO LSU is the best team in the nation and Alabama is right there with them. According to the BCS rules the goal is to match the top two teams for the national championship. Simple enough but this is where everyone seems to disagree every year. What are the criteria to determine the top two teams??????? Is it the same every year??
Until we get a playoff nothing will truly be resolved. I had hoped so badly that UGA woud win to mess things up even more but that was not meant to be. If you exclude Bama or OSU there will be valid arguments from both sides. So what can we do???? We could design a playoff system that allows things to be decided on the field instead of by some voters and computers. I do believe that it shoud include all conference champions as well as a few at large or ‘wildcard teams’. Maybe the wildcard teams could be determined by rankings. The method major football has used to determine a champion is a joke. Why? Because it is not determined on the field of play and the criteria of determining the top two teams seems to keep changing!!!!
Anyway enough rambling. I’m a dawg fan and dang proud to say it. Good job CMR and players. Looking forward to bowl game as well next year. GODAWGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

South Carolina moved into the AP Poll Top 10 at # 10 along with Arkansas at # 7 and Alabama at # 2 and LSU # 1.
However, Alabama sat at home while Okie State drupped Choke-la-homa (Again) to push within 14 votes of Alabama. If this is any indication, and it usually is, Okie State will play LSU with Okie State’s # 107 Defense having not even played in a Conference Championship Game and having Lost to 6-6 Iowa State, while Alabama is OUT.
Where are the Alabama fans now ?
