Video: Opposing views about Saturday’s game between Dogs, Jackets

Ken Sugiura, the AJC’s Georgia Tech beat writer, and I both chat with Noah Coslov of CineSport about Saturday’s game between the Yellow Jackets and the Georgia Bulldogs in Atlanta. As you might expect, we each predict different outcomes. . . .

If Murray has a good game passing and our tailbacks can run the ball without getting hurt, our defense will take care of the rest. Go DAWGS!!

I like it Mtn Dawg … I don’t think LSU is a lock to be there though. Arkansas has a quality team. To be honest, I think UGA matches up better against Arkansas than against LSU.

Disagree, TampaDawg. Arkansas has the better QB. LSU still hasn’t made up their mind whose taking the snaps yet.

Mtn Dawg. So Alabama can only manage to score 3 freaking points on LSU’s #1 defense in the country, and you are guessing we are going to score 28 when we had a hard time putting up 19 against Kentucky last week? Please pass the pipe this way my friend. Our O line of scrimage is very tired, if you didn’t notice that in the Ky game then you were not looking. Let’s please stay grounded as a fanbase guys. If we can’t do it how can we expect our teenaged football players to stay focused?

Okay, so here’s my question: Both Chip and Ken are talking about Tech running this “different” kind of offense, and Georgia will have trouble containing. Have we not played CPJ’s triple option for the past few years?! We beat them last year with Todd Granthem’s 3-4 defense in it’s rookie season. NOW, that defense has flourished to #2 in rush defense in the land! This will all come down to depth and turnovers, though…. Final Score: Dawgs-38 (Member’s Only)Jackets-14

Bama Dog, Arkansas had a much better QB last year in Mallet and UGA came close to beating them then with a much lesser ready defense than what’s on the field this year. I think the Arkansas defense is suspect, more so than LSU’s which is where the matchup problems begin for Arkansas against UGA, assuming the run game for the Dawgs is back in tact.

#1. Beat Tech! Please!
#2. Arkansas is our best matchup, then LSU and finally Alabama. Even though Alabama lost to LSU, they moved the ball much easier against them than the other way around. Alabama should have won, if they hadn’t thrown that pick on the one.

@DougsMugsDOTcom .. Bama would have won had their kicker realized that between the posts is what he was supposed to be aiming for.

If UGA will play assignment football we slow down gt. I don’t see tech running for the yards they did last year. I just hope our backs can stay in the game more than 2 plays and hold on to the ball. Turnovers will kill whom ever has them they were very costly to gt last year. That said GO DOGS GATA AND THWGT

Also why don’t we play this one at a time we need to keep our mind on gt. We can face the winner of the west when we find out it is the DAWGS will play the winner down to the end. GO DOGS & GATA

After Crowell left the kentucky game, georgia offense went vanilla, RIcht knew Kentucky offense wasn’t going to get anything unless we gave it to them, Play field position and walk away with a W and no serious injuries. Think we open it up on offense this week to give Arky/lsu/Bama more to think about.
Tech will score in the first half , most likely on 1st possession after that will be like all other offense that played UGa and have to resort to gimmicks to try an move the ball. If Murray is on his game isn’t close, if Georgia offense puts it on the ground or sputters its closer but Georgia still covers the 6.5..

We do not need to overlook the Jackets Saturday. Although we hold a 9-1 record against them since coach Richt took over, Saturday, if we go in the way we did against Kentucky, we will be embarrassed badly. We need to focus on the Jackets and not on the SEC title game, it will look sad, to go into the title game with 3 losses, Go Dawgs, and STAY OUT OF FREAKIN TROUBLE!!

One day at a Gainesville elementary school, a teacher asked her class if the Georgia Bulldog were their favorite football team. The whole class said yes, except for Jimmy.
The teacher asked, “What’s your favorite football team, Jimmy?”
Little Jimmy said, “The Georgia Tech.”
The teacher asked, “Well, why is that?”
Little Jimmy said, “Well, my dad is aYellowJackets fan, my mom is aYellowJackets fan, so I guess that makes me aYellowJackets fan.”
The teacher, angered by his reply, said, “If your dad was a moron, and your mom was an idiot, what would that make you?”
Jimmy said, “Well, I guess that would make me a Georgia fan.”

Agree w/passing game must be on and AM must be accurate w/his passes. Not like KY game where he wasn’t too sharp or on right page w/receivers. Bobo cannot rely on running game w/apparent problems the dawgs have at RB. Just have to hope when the run is called they hold onto the ball and make a respectable gain. GT will try to stop the run so the passing lanes should be open and Bobo must exploit techs pass defense which is one of their weak points. The O line took a step backwards vs KY so must regain form they showed in AU game. D will have their hands full w/tech triple option. Just need to slow them down enough for third and long.

Just have to hope GA’s head is in this game and not looking ahead for SEC Championship. Isn’t easy to stay up for 10 weeks in a row so CMR needs to motivate these kids something he says he’s not good at. He better learn quickly.

Chip,

You’re missing the boat on this one guy. UGA defense is geared to stop this HS offense. The muscle in the middle and the quickness at LB and the ends will make it mighty tough for the triple option. On the other side, it would appear Murray if he is so inclined will have another record setting day against that obviously porous defense. A Georgia 25-30 point victiry

Don’t take the NATS insects for granted. Hunker down, you Bulldogs.

Besides how sweet it is to defeat the crybabies from Atlanta, we need a win to carry our momentum into the SEC title game.

We don’t have to feel sorry for these pesky varmints either. Even when we get a win, they seem to be fine bragging all year about how they put the game into their very special, and idiosyncratic Moral Victory Category.

Georgia Tech Motto: Every Game Is A Moral Victory.

Georgia Tech record over the last ten years against the University: 1 W and 9 MV.

Go, UGA.

It’s time for this annual game to be killed off… I’m a dawg alum but win or lose this year I’m officially advocating the end of the UGA/Tech annual rivalry game. Win or lose this year it’s not much of a rivalry and has no bearing at all on what either school says is more important – conference wins. With the SEC expanding as well UGA is severely limited by being forced to play Tech every year – we should play them once every 10 years like we do with Southern.

The Dawgs are too big , too fast, and with the # 2 Rush “D” and # 4 total “D” nation wide. That will be just too much for the jackets. The Dawgs will not look past “GT” today. They will deal with LSU next Saturday.

Wish a mother would!

Destiny DAWGS the rest of the season UGA will be playing for Munson. ESPN never give UGA credit for turning their season around! How can the number 1 team lose and still play in the title game or not even win your conference championship and play in the title game. So much for the experts.
