Video: Perfect ending to an imperfect day for Bulldogs

My video report from Sanford Stadium following Georgia’s 19-10 win over Kentucky. It wasn’t a thing of beauty but it got the Bulldogs where they want to go — the Georgia Dome for the SEC Championship Game on Dec. 3.

whats was up with the refs today it was like the ref were trying to give the game to KY but the dawgs won, an ugly win but they won. the dawgs will be back to playing like they did with Auburn. I think not having our 3 top backs did not help. we will be fine and beat tech everyone needs to just leave remember it’s a game and bad games happend…. they will come out and play their hearts out and beat tech and LSU even with Ref that wanted them to lose.

Thank Heavens the Dawgs have become a cohesive unit and discovered their pride. Congrats to the team & coaches for their win (albeit not a very pretty one, but still a win) Just please let’s beat Yech next week so I don’t have to take too much ragging from my brother-in-law. GO DAWGS & GATA!

Coach Erk Russell used to say 19 is more than 10 so we will take it! The game was not pretty but the win is all that matters to be East Champs. After taking 10 members of my family including 4 to their first UGA game in ‘09 when we gave the gifted turnovers to UK, I was glad we won by any margin. One of my nieces and brother in law were almost as disappointed as me, back then. Everyone knew they would play tough trying to get to a bowl. Considering all the upsets this past weekend, just focus on GT and then we will see who our opponent is in ATL. Anybody hurting in CU, OKS, UO or the other UO? NCS, ISU, BU and USC(West) happy? I have been a Coach Paul Johnson fan since his days at GSU and wish him and his team well except when they play us. I hope the season does not end in a boring rematch of LSU and UA so please give us a playoff like the FCS has or at least 8 teams! UGA fan happy for the Bulldog Nation worldwide and especially in India!

Yes is it was Ulgy but they did what they had to do. Ask Organ, Oklahoma and a few others if they would have loved to have an ulgy win yesterday. Let’s kick tech down the road and then lay it all on the line in the Doam!

What?

Chip look, even 1 hr after the game the seats are empty….wow that’s amazing!!!!
How about sending an apology for the poor headline an hr before kickoff, the darn place was full yesterday. And how about all the folks that stayed to celebrate????????? Get with it man, you were embarrassing to the paper yesterday.

Congratulations to Mark Richt, Todd Grantham, and the entire coaching staff for winning the SEC East Championship. Great job with a very young team with very little depth.

This young team has come a very long way. Ga will return every skill position player on offense and all but two players on the two deep roster on defense, save someone going pro.

It’s time to finish strong, and put an exclamation point on a good 10 win season and a East championship by beating those Jackets.

GATA, and it’s great to be a Ga bulldog!!!

Can someone please give us an update on Crowell’s injury? And was Thomas out for family reasons or did he mess up again? Can’t believe nobody is writing on those two things as they are huge against Tech, LSU, and the bowl game.

We all saw how UGA’s offense is without a solid running game…NOT VERY GOOD!

Status please!

Blood Type, I echo your questions. My theory is the reason we haven’t heard about the duo is that the UGA ’spin doctors’ haven’t gotten their ’story’ together so that it will maybe be palatable for the UGA faithful. Its hard to put a positive spin on Crowell and Thomas.

Thomas was suspended for violation of team rules, again. Crowell, I havnt heard a peep. And if Crowell doesnt man up and play through some pain, he isnt gonna last. Anywhere.

If we cannot run the ball against tech and keep their offense off the field, WE WILL LOSE! Our D is playing good but it is tough to play against the triple option if your O does stay on the field with clock management.

I don’t feel good about Tech at all boys….Tech will just blueprint what UK did and we could get beat.

And I don’t know about you but losing to Tech and having to hear it from their god awful, please act like you’ve been there fans would ruin this magical season for me. I’d rather lose to LSU than Tech.

Really worried about next week…..lots of pride on the line for divided families such as mine(GT/UGA).

I agree, what is Crowell’s status? I was at the game sitting behind UGA bench. He never went for an x-ray, he was never on crutches, he walked on his own off the field after the game (noticably limping, though), they didn’t try to tape him up real good if it was an ankle sprain or twist, and we saw him rubbing his bruised knee (which he had coming into the game) a lot. We couldn’t tell what he hurt. He took himself out and showed no interest in coming back in and no trainer worked on him even after Crowell sat up on the trainer’s table. I don’t get it. Doesn’t the kid want to play? If we can’t run the ball against Tech Murray will be running for his life.

That said, defense wins championships, and this is the first in a looooong time when we can THE JUNKYARD DAWGS ARE BACK!!! Jenkins, Jones, Robinson, Tyson (who got hurt and came back in – that’s heart), ‘Tree, Jones, Williams, Boykin (that pick was beautiful, like he was playing WR on that play) and the rest all deserve the game ball. Thank you D for getting us back in the Dome. Everyone forgets you only gave up 17 points to S. Carolina — we gift wrapped the other 28 for them. Keep up the intensity!! The next two quarterbacks we play (whoever Tech and LSU choose to use) have to watch that film and say OUCH! That poor freshman QB for KY has got to be in serious pain today, especially after his last play when ‘Tree planted him like a shrub. I love it.

GO DAWGS!!

Yes, I would have like to see Crowell cheering with his teammates and “talking football” with his running back team mates(Malcome&Harton) who get less snaps than he does in practice. When you are out, YOU HELP the others at your position with advice, encouragement, and an extra set of eyes on what you are seeing from the sidelines.

But nonetheless, nobody is perfect. Is it possible Bobo/Richt wanted to not force the issue and keep the damage to a minimum so he can contribute against Tech this week? Maybe that’s why he didn’t come back in? But I’m just guessing at this point b/c nobody wants to report on this SERIOUS ISSUE!

Im starting to wonder myself. Those same two didnt play against New Mexico State, now they didnt play against Kentucky? Is there more to it than we think. If we play Tech like we played Auburn I could care less. Whatever works!

B’dawg,

That’s because we made it interesting and could only muster 1 TD against probably the second worst team in the SEC. If you ask me, we should have probably dropped a couple points after that pathetic offensive performance. I know 2 of our RB’s were out but still…..the boys just didn’t have it together yesterday and Murray did not look near as good as last week.

UK is completely horrible guys! This team got beat by VANDY by 30 points folks. There’s some work still to be done.

Still, lots of other teams struggled as well so I’d rather complain about a ugly win than a pretty loss.

In spite of a lack luster performance against Kentucky, if you’re a Georgia fan you have to place PRIDE in this team. Starting 0-2 they could have easily folded the tent, but they dug deep within themselves and beat the teams on their schedule. You can’t ask for anything more.

I’m really proud of this Georgia Defense, these kids are playing lights out. Jarvis Jones is the MVP of this entire football team. He’s humble and gets after it every single play. We’ve needed another David Pollack on our D and we have one with Jarvis Jones. I watched yesterday as Jones blew up two guys in front of him on his way to the QB. Unbelievable!

Now lets CRUSH Tech!!!

A 330 pound lineman fell directly on crowell’s foot and leg. I doubt any one on here could run after that.Don’t worry about GT they are a joke. It won’t be close. Go DAWGS!!!

Augusta, I agree with your first sentence but not the one on it not being close. Without Crowell, Samuel, and M.I.A Thomas, there is no running game!(Harton and Boo grease their hands and can’t hang on to the dang ball!) With no running game, you see what happens.

Just not as confident as you….and Tech will play laid back as nobody expects them to win.

This has disaster written all over it. I”m just saying…….YOU CANNOT BEAT TECH if you can’t control the clock, have sustainable drives, kick field goals instead of TD’s, and keep their O on the sidelines. After tHE UK game, all of the above did not happen and UK is awful!

I hope Georgia coaches are taking the preparation very seriously b/c this is still a huge game for us.

sloppy win but a great win. we have a great defense but i have negative feelings about crowell. don’t believe he will ever be what he is cracked up to be. he gets hurt too much. we could have sure used him yesterday. his loss caused us to go one dimensional until late in the game when we just wore out the uk defense. murray was off his game. did he have the jitters? sure hope we get keith marshall–he is a great rb and seems to have his head on straight. anyway a win is a win and stats, as they say, are for losers. believe we will beat the humble bumbles. I heard all of last year how Ealey and Thomas were cancers on the team. One tumor is gone but one seems to not be responding to the medicine that the coaching staff is giving. I wonder how much Thomas influences Crowell????
Anyone besides me notice that Crowell ran onto the field a full 20 seconds after the rest of the team had run throught the G? I’ve been hearing that he doesn’t go to meetings and is not well liked on the team. Anyone else hear that?

Stop worring about “IC”. They are bring in a big time “RB” maybe by Christmas. “IC” want get any sugar coating after the seasons over. He will fall in line or ride the pine(Bench). Just a mater of time on “CT”.

Uga Dawgs will address the “RB” position after the seasons over you can bet on that. I betting coach “MR” & “TG” gets raises and extentions. They want let a couple of wet nose kids screw that up. Like I say they ” the running backs” will fall in line or ride the pine.

WHY are you Georgia fans trashing our own player? That does exactly what for your own ego? A Linemen crunched his ankle and Ron Courson said he isn’t going back in. Was he suppose to defy the medical staff and coaches, limp onto the field, tell Harton to go sit down? Reasonable to question his durability, although I think it’s debatable considering he is a True Freshman and has carried the ball more than most of the SEC backs out there. BUT why are you claiming that he just decided not to play, when he could have done so without risking the next ballgame (when it really matters), when nodoby really believes that?

The Alabama vs. Georgia Southern match-up and how well GS did, scares me. It is a shadow of the UGA vs. GT game.

Alabama and UGA have the same defense. Georgia Southern and Tech have the same triple option, but Tech’s is better.

I just not talking about Bodies, I also refering to their “Mind”, “Attitude”, “Conduct” do I need to go. It appears the “RB” are most in question. Like I say The “RB” will get in line or ride the pine. No trashing, Just facts like it or not.

ole yeller,

I am actually more concerned about Murray… then Bobo. I thought that Murray had the monkey off his back with the Florida win and he was showing consistency with the next two games. Alas, he really was off against Kentucky. The young man really has some consistency issues and is horribly streaky. I sure hope the good Murray shows up against Tech.

Speaking of streaky, Mike Bobo? The man starts to pull together great series of play calling and game prep, then he revert to bad Bobo. Mike, please just get someone to put together a cd of all your most successful plays. Have it sorted by the plays that work most often, then watch it daily.

I like how you all didn’t take the foot off the gas against Mexico State and Auburn. Please get Tech down and don’t let up. My greatest joy would be a 30 point win against the bugs.

WEll if you weren’t the one trashing IC, then that wasn’t directed to you. I purposely avoided calling anyone out by name. But if you were in the group of fans insinuating that him not returning to the game was somehow his “attitude” then, yes, it was being critical of him for reasons that you have no idea about. fair enough.

The Uga Dawgs were zoned out, dialed in after the Fla win. That win was huge for moral. The next two games was hard to take their foot of the gas. That is why coach “MR” took out the air force and put in the army. Against Kentucky they were back on the ground. I think it is hard to hold that edge with out some type of motivation. The “D” still has that edge, because they have climed to #2 nation wide in RUSH “D” and #4 Total “D” nation wide. Clean up the Running game, these Dawgs will be hard to beat. EVEN teams from the WEST…….You’ll see…NO TRASHING Just Facts

Oh, our running backs are a mess right now. We need a headliner and at least one solid back-up in this class. I just think IC is getting WAY too much blame for the shape of that whole part of the game. Personally I think he has been the ONLY good thing about our running game. If all he had to be was the promising freshman, getting 1000 yrds or so, we would all be thrilled. But you got folks saying he needs to man up, defy the coaches, force his way on the field, whipe out his ankle for the year.
