What players and coaches on both sides were saying after Georgia’s 19-10 victory over Kentucky (transcript provided by UGA):
Georgia coach Mark Richt:
“I left the South Carolina game [when Georgia was 0-2] encouraged. I wasn’t encouraged that we lost, but I was encouraged that as we moved forward that we could win. I knew we had good leaders, good players and good coaches. We had to protect the ball and get after it. It’s hard to win nine in a row, especially when you need every single one to get back to the Dome. I’m just so proud of them right now.”
“Today was definitely a team victory. Everybody had to do their part. I thought the special teams played extremely well. The offense made enough plays and the defense did their thing.”
“Brandon Harton had to come through for us. Even though the ball came out a few times, he had over 100 yards. And Ken (Malcome) did a few things. Overall, the tailbacks protected pretty good. As the game went on, they made some plays.”
“Our defense stoned them again. Twenty-three yards net [rushing], that’s pretty fantastic. They didn’t throw that well either. Our defense played lights out I thought.”
“I am so proud of the guys for winning the SEC East. Guys could have quit, pointed fingers and found a way to fall apart. But they didn’t do that. Last season was pretty horrible by record, but the players never gave up on the coaches and the coaches never gave up on the players. We maintained our unity. That’s what carried us through the offseason and carried us through the early part of this year.”
“Kentucky played hard. We missed some opportunities, but we kept fighting. I’m glad there was not a lot of drama at the end.”
“You take it one game at a time, one play at a time, one practice at a time. It’s hard to win nine in a row — period. I’m just thankful that we did.”
Georgia quarterback Aaron Murray:
“It’s a victory. We didn’t play great, but it’s great to get back to Atlanta. We’re excited. We have our game at Georgia Tech first, but we’re definitely blessed [to be back in the SEC Championship game] this year. It’s a great feeling.”
“We just weren’t connecting [today], and you’re going to have those games. We just fought through it. The defense played great and we’re just happy to get out of it with a win.”
Georgia linebacker Jarvis Jones:
“We knew they would come in with some confidence and that they were going to give it their all. Last time they were here they beat us, so we knew they were coming to play. We just came to battle and stepped up. “
“After the beginning of the season we were a little down, but you just have to keep fighting, and that’s what we did. Now we’re headed back to Atlanta, and it’s a really good feeling.”
Georgia safety Bacarri Rambo:
“It’s feels so good. The last time Georgia made it to the SEC championship I was in ninth grade, so it’s a great feeling. We put in a ton of work in the off-season and pre-season and it’s all paying off.”
Georgia cornerback Brandon Boykin:
“I’m feeling great. This is what I came back to do. It’s like a fantasy. As a senior, to win on senior day and to win the SEC East is a great feeling.”
Kentucky coach Joker Phillips:
“I am proud of this team and how they fought. A lot of people knew how much this week meant for Georgia, and no one talked about what we were playing for. We’re playing for pride, our university and an extra win. The game that this team played proved they played for each other as well. I am proud of them.”
“I said at half time that our defense had a lot of wins today. They forced some field goals instead of touchdowns that kept us in the game. It was good to see some young guys come up and make some plays. We had some guys who haven’t practiced lately and really came through with some good plays for us today. It was probably the best game this defense has played this year. We didn’t get pushed around, and we have seen Georgia push some really good teams around. I don’t think that they pushed us around.”
“We made some plays in the first half. We proved that we could move the ball on any defense that we face. We couldn’t get the run game started in the second half because of some of the schemes Georgia ran, but I am proud of the way these guys fought for each other out there today. No one can say we didn’t fight.”
“It’s hard to play against a defense that is as good as Georgia. This is one of the best defenses in the conference. We’ve seen Georgia hold some good teams to just a few points. It’s a tough to play against a team with great personnel, great schemes and athletic players.”
Kentucky wide receiver Brian Adams:
“There’s a lot of excitement coming back here to play. Athens is only 45 minutes from my house [in Gainesville], and it was really awesome for me to play here. I wish we had a different result, but I’ll remember this for a long time.”
“I think we are a lot better than we’ve been showing this year. It’s been frustrating. We have one game left, and we are going to come out and continue to play hard.”
Kentucky offensive guard Stuart Hines:
“It’s tough to deal with. It’s really tough to go out like this without going to a bowl game my senior year.”
Kentucky tailback Raymond Sanders:
“We never quit. We wear the wrist bands that say ‘never, never,’ and we finish ‘never, never’ with ‘never give up.’ I’m proud of my teammates. We played well today and never gave up. I want to congrautale Georgia and those guys over there on winning the East. Their ‘D’ is good and made plays when they needed to, and we didn’t execute well enough.”
Kentucky cornerback Randall Burden:
“After seeing what they did last week to Auburn, everyone thought they would run it down our throats all game. We focused on the game plan and played really hard today. We have seven more days together as a team. We are going to come out and play for pride.”

Good job JYD. Ihope today was just a bump in the road for our offense. It could be a good thing that we did not blow the Cats off the field. Maybe we will come out next week hungry and firing on all cylinders.

Thanks to the guy sitting in section 132, row 32, seat 20-something. You were an idiot all day, calling out plays, making negative comments, totally spewing out bad strategy for the Dawgs and basically having diarrhea of the mouth. I say thank you because I had told my friends about ignorant old men like you that never went to Georgia, never played football past high school and think that everyone around you is impressed by your commentary.
So thanks for proving that you do exist. And please, whoever gave this person your tickets, don’t let it happen again.

Crowell needs to grow a pair and man up, Thomas needs to read the “team rules” another time because he clearly does not understand them. Murray needs to take some Ritalin or something and concentrate better.
At least the Defense has come together to become one of the very best in the nation. And to think that so many of us wanted to fire Grantham.

whats was up with the refs today it was like the ref were trying to give the game to KY but the dawgs won, an ugly win but they won. the dawgs will be back to playing like they did with Auburn. I think not having our 3 top backs did not help. we will be fine and beat tech everyone needs to just leave remember it’s a game and bad games happend…. they will come out and play their hearts out and beat tech and LSU even with Ref that wanted them to lose.

No complaints. Sox quality teams competed for the SEC East title and the Dawgs took it. That’s a goal the Dawgs controlled, and they won it. Now, go smear tech all over the field next Saturday. One game at a time.

Chip, what’s up with the misleading article pre-game. The stands were full today, although late arriving. We were stuck on I-85 just before the Jefferson exit for 90 minutes and arrived very late. Regardless, the stands were full, and a win is a win. Bring on the bumbling bees and let the streak hit 10.

Hats off to the Cats as well. Kentucky came in and gave us all we could handle. You guys have a good team, and I hope you can continue playing. Trevathan is a beast, he will definitely be in the NFL one day.

Defense of course played well, but I really want to give credit to our special teams today since we sure give it to them when they don’t play well. Walsh was really on his game, Butler made some awesome punts, and the punt return plays were fierce. Special teams helped us as much as the defense did.

It looks like Ken Malcome can play, with that said, if Crowell can’t go next week, give Malcome the ball as the starter and let Harton back him up. Harton needs big holes to run inside, it appears Malcome does not. Will need a running game to beat Tech.

It’s obvious now that Crowell can’t be counted on for anything. Paper tiger. 1000 yards? How about staying in the game for a half dozen plays? That would be an accomplishment. I respect guys like Harton who make the most of their opportunities — he was asked to respond and he did an admirable job — despite not having the pampering or pedigree of a Crowell. If Carlton Thomas was indeed suspended again, he should be gone. Don’t think Crowell isn’t seeing how this one plays out. At this point, UGA needs Marshall in THE worst way. Crowell won’t last 2 years the way he’s going. I can’t imagine Crowell growing a heart all of the sudden between now and LSU/Bama. The mere sight of them might make him tap out before the game has even started. If Harton is all we have for Tech and the SECCG, it’s over. Bobo can’t expect to establish the run against any of those teams with what the running game of today. Where was Michael Bennett today?

Watching the Ducks, you have to respect the creativity they use to put offensive pressure on opponents. They manage to play much better than their talent; their coaches multiply the talent. I would love to see the Dawgs develop more creativity to get our playmakers more opportunities to move it.

In this day and age with so much talent scattered around and every team having a few difference makers on their rosters it IS a feat to beat 9 teams in a row. Hats off to Richt and staff – you came back from the dead to prove all of the naysayers wrong – SEC East Champs! That says it all!!!!!!!!!! Where is Thomas Brown? Ugly win is better than any kind of loss. Ga came out a bit flat and did just enough to win. We played 4 qtrs last week and decided to return to a half played game vs Ky. I’m thinking we better play a full 4 qtrs the next 2 weeks or we are in trouble. But we won the East. No small accomplishment. Congrats Dogs!

Big Dawg fan but this offense will get killed by LSU. I just don’t trust Murray in a big game. He has never won a big game against a good opponent, how many wins against teams w/a winning record does he have? Seems like in big games he is constantly overthrowing recievers and turning the ball over, can’t beat LSU polaing like that. Hope the boys can shock the world but I doubt it, just hope its not a huge blowout.

When I got off the team bus today, I looked around and everyone else was asleep. No 1 else got off the bus. I actually drove the bus when I played. LSU has twice the number of commitments including the top OG from Georgia, and we have 24 seniors. LSU also has wins over # 3 Alabama and # 4 Oregon, while we had games against # 14 USCe and # 11 BS. LSU has 6 common opponents with us, having beat those 6 by 102 more points than we did. I put the line at -17 LSU, who has a solid team in every phase of the game, a tight team. Great kiss Kathryn.
Aaron Murray has 400 plays this season he has ball hogged, and there is no way he is our best player this season. Actually, if you factor in his 9 fumbles 9 interceptions and 23 sacks into his passing percentages now after this afternoon, you get 54 percent completions by AM. 183 of 334 passes. He has beat no one in his entire career. Consistently inconsistent, he is less efficient as a QB but thinks it helps his stats to duck his head and take a flop sack than to throw the ball away. 10 percent of his this entire season have been fumbles, interceptions and sacks.
Tevin Washington Junior same class as Aaron Murray is the # 60 QB in the nation. He had offers from Alabama A & M and Troy. He completes 48 percent of his passes, but is much faster than Aaron Murray and has more rushing yards this season than Isaiah Crowell. That summarizes Georgia tek’s entire football team, Tevin Washington. Georgia tek is # 112 passing offense in the nation. Cupcake # 10 in a row. Georgia tek Rush Defense is # 75 in the nation. Mike Bobo will only pass the ball against Georgia tek, since they have zero rush defense. Chris Burnette was blocked backwards on top of IC left ankle bending it three-quarters. Isaiah Crowell will not play vs Georgia tek, and Carlton Thomas, suspended for his 4th game this season out of 11 for 36 percent of the games suspended, also will not play vs Georgia tek because he just got kicked off the team. Get off the bus. (The rest of the team is asleep on the bus.) Georgia tek is # 71 in net punting, # 68 in punt returns, and # 91 in kick-off returns. Also the nerds are # 92 in tackles for a loss. No passing offense, no rush defense, and no special teams. Unranked. Tevin Washington has 25 carries a game, and is a 1,000 yard rusher on the season.
Big XII bwah. Clempsum Farmers bwah. Neither will drop beneath us.
11-3
November 20th, 2011
12:32 am
Cordy Glenn did not start today. Can you believe that we did not start Michael Gilliard in either game we lost ? Truly amazing. Jarvis Jones has 15 unassisted tackles for a loss and 7 assisted tackles for a loss. Ok, against cupcakes.
Defense handed the football to the “Offense” today who are still on the bus. The “Offense” settled for 1 TD out of 16 possessions, 75 plays 1 TD. Chris Conley we ripped the Redshirt off of in game 4 this season. Nice job Mike Bobo, er uh Mark Richt, er uh the season was over when we finally ripped the redshirt off Chris Conley. Now, 11 games into the season, we have thrown this phenom 11 passes the entire season. Again, even a more stellar WASTE OF TALENT.
2002, 2003 and 2005 (2005 is 7 seasons ago.) 2011. I see the game as more than 2 TD and a field goal. IC needs 168 yards in bowl game and vs LSU. He has 5 TD on the entire regular season. So, we won by single digits when the spread was 33. Anyone saying how we are great, or beating LSU (or both) today ? Single digit win the way our Defense played today against the # 118 Total Offense in the nation. Kentucky is the # 118 Total Offense in the nation, our Defense played like it did today, and we won not by 33 but by single digit.
Awesome. You can go ahead and apologize Mark Richt. Not for your stunt; Kathryn showed you up. But, for your game against Kentucky. And, your game against Ole Miss, and your game against Florida, and your game against Tennessee and your game against Boise State and your game against South Carolina.
2 sacks, 2 fumbles and an interception. 11 rushes for 8 yards total vs the # 98 Rushing Defense. Aaron Murray today, along with all his overthrows and throws behind the receivers. Brandon Harton over 100 yards but 2 fumbles, again. You’d like to control the clock against Georgia tek.
LSU murderizes us.

Games like this are though – you can get caught looking ahead – look at what happened to 4 of the top 10 teams today (they lost) – I knew it was going to be that type of game today – and glad the dawgs pulled it out – So sad about Crowell – hopefully he will develop over the off season and realize what an opportunity he has – if not he may end up being another King or Ealy – all the talent in the world but no heart – what he does not realize is there is always someone up and coming that will take your position – man needs to learn to play through the pain.

Richt says ” It’s hard to win nine in a row”. Look closely at these 9 wins. The signature wins are UT, UF, and Au. All three are having nightmare seasons. UF trailed Furman today. FURMAN. AU trailed Samford today. SAMFORD. UT has nothing, nor does Vandy or UK. And that brings us to Coastal Carolina, Ole Miss, Ms st, and NMSU. Collectively, the nine have a losing record, 45-53. Crowell has a short future after the draft. Tevin Washington is faster than Isaiah Crowell. Then, again, 229 in this year’s 2011 recruiting class, all are faster than Isaiah Crowell, according to the official Nike time, which is far more accurate than the times put out of this program any more around here. 11-3, we are extremely lucky to be in the position we are in. Such is the world of college football. By all means, UF and VANDY should have beat us. WE did not deserve to win against a team that ranks in the very bottom of FBS in MANY offensive categories. We only managed to win by a touchdown. Extremely lucky for the way the schedule bounced our way this year. Scheduling is the ONLY reason we have the record we do. We will beat tek, but I am not looking forward to playing LSU. They will beat us by 40 points and embarrass us on national tv. Fire Mark Richt now and let’s get a real coach who isn’t just a messenger, but a motivator.

They both were supposed to play against each other next game. 1 will. 1 will not. 1 will get to 1,000 yards and 1 will not. There a myriad of reasons why 1 won’t. This is college football. 1 is supposed to be the # 1 rusher in the nation. The other is supposed to be the # 60 QB in the nation. 1 has had a better season than the other, and the other ? There are not 8 teams who will be considered by those of us on this blog tonight, material for our 1-A NC game. We don’t need a playoff; we have a play-off now; we have a 2-team play-off now, when all that is ever needed is normally +1. Play team 4 and 1. Play team 3 and 2. Those 2 games a week after Conference Championship Game, when all we have are weenie bowls anyway. Huge pay-out for those 2 games. There are 420 student-athletes per school. There are 120 Division 1-A FBS schools. 50,000 student-athletes. $ 100 million is EXACTLY PRECISELY TO THE PENNY $ 2,000 each.

Understand the competitive advantage being certified on my company’s products, and then understanding all my competitors, each – completely. Then, use my education and present the reason why our solution is the one I recommend. If you have a different number than 420, I would be greatly appreciative of your research to show me. Then, I will ask the TV funds of 1-4 3-2 distrubuted to the NCAA be enough to pay that, since I think the kids need the 2 grand. I had to work, go to college, and be a walk-on. My days were full. Somebody forgot to tell Kentucky they were playing Georgia and it was a football game and not a basketball game they were playing. My greatest fears came true on saturday, how do they get up to play Kentucky?
Like Georgia was in a deep sleep. Multiple turnovers, couldnt stop the run and they were getting yards from passing. Then the 2nd half came. Like Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde team.
Tell you that our Defense has saved the Offenses butts alot this year. With Branden Smith, Boykin, Rambo, Commings, Joneses and LB’s and front 4.
They keep getting better and better as the year goes on. Our offense has played like a roller coaster. QB making bad decisions, Isiah Crowell getting a hang nail and is sidelined. He might have been the Number 2 RB in the nation but i see that Georgia has 2 other RB’s with as much potential and not so injury proned.
Suck it up Crowell , get taped up and get tougher.
Im sorta glad that AJ Green is not here this year cause i dont think we’d get to see all the talent we have with recievers.
Im glad to see Marlon Brown starting to develope as a WR as we knew he would. Cant say our Offense has improved as much as our Defense has but the offensive line needs to continue getting better. Thats the whole foundation of our offense, the line.
Well you got a chance to make it 10 in a row, which record will be very hard to break after a dismal start. Not gonna sugar coate it like Richt has but do i think Georgia can finish the season out with 10 in a row?
Yes but this game will AGAIN depend on our Defense more.
Do i think we can go to Atlanta and beat LSU, or Alabama or maybe even Arkansas? Doubtful but is attainable.
If its LSU, this is what i think. Player against player i think we have more talent. I think our Defense is better than LSU’s Defense. Our corners, our Front 4 certainly are. Comes down to stupid penalties and turnovers here.
LSU and Alabama has the edge going to the Head Coaches, Big edge against our OC Bobo. Better than our Special Teams. Punting game goes to us but place kicking goes to LSU and Alabama.
No one expected Georgia to win 9 in a row, less going to the SEC Championship game. But that shouldnt be on Georgia’s mind right now.
Ga. Tech a formidable opponent wants to end their season on a high note and isnt gonna be happy about being a 14 point underdog. Neither was Kentucky. They know all Georgia’s stats and know bout our run defense and tends on running the ball down our throats to embarass us.
I hope that none of the Georgia players say anything negative about Tech and not give them any ammunition to build on. Just go out there and leave everything on the field. No breaking team rules yet again.
This will tell you how good a team you are. They got home advantage, Inner-state rivals, ACC vs SEC, being an underdog by 14 pts, playing a higher ranked opponent, breaking Georgia’s streak, and bragging rights.
Look at Oklahoma’s game, Clemson, Oregon, Oklahoma States games and they were upset. That gonna be you too? This isnt no walk over team, no for sure game, they got something to prove to their fans, friends and families.
Be a great team? Win all 3 games then come back, be a good team then you’ll just beat Tech, be an up-n-down team then lose the next 2 games. Its how you finish is what counts. Is 9 games enough? Beat Ga. Tech then you’ll get a second chance and possibly play the Number 1 team in America and show everyone how great a team you are by beating them.

“UGA will not come out flat after the easy win over Auburn last week. Kentucky has a pretty poor defense as it is and now they have lost two of their starters to boot. Depending on how much yardage Crowell gets in the first half and how many hits he takes, we could see him get all 179 yards he needs today. They don’t appear at Kentucky to have an answer to a runner and how to stop him, and Murray should also get at least 3 first half touchdowns it will be a lot like a tough scrimmage for UGA. The best part is, we can rest a lot of starters for the game, after the first half”

Excuse me ? No 1 thought we’d lose any of these 10 cupcake games in a row, not 1 single 1 of the 10 in a row ranked in the AP Poll Top 25 today. As for your musings that we can beat LSU, no we cannot. They are a complete team. They have no holes. We are thin across the board, as you might well expect with 29 players not playing against KY who Mark Richt gave Scholarships to to do just that. And, by the way, Aaron Murray is not our best player this year. No way. He still has not beat 1 single solitary team in his entire career who ends up in the AP Poll Top 25, and there is not 1 of them in it this morning, either.

The reason most schools lose money in the bowl games is simple logistics. It takes a lot for teams to travel half way across the country. You have transportation, living accommodations, food, and a myriad of other expenses involved. With the exception of the Rose Bowl, most of the major money making bowls are played in the south. Even teams with a big population like Ohio State lose money when they have to move all that is needed to play the game to a southern location, for instance the Sugar Bowl. There probably is no way to prevent that, but it is still an honor to play in a bowl game, and team are compensated pretty good by the major bowls. I think I read somewhere, that the BCS bowl, will pay a minimum of 4.5 million to each team this year. You will never see much of a change as far as bowl games locations are, simply because, unless you are up in the north, you don’t really want to watch a bowl game in zero degree weather. I guess if the NCAA wanted to change the venue of the NC game, they could require they be played in Domes, if they wanted to go north, but that isn’t going to happen.

To all the people on Thomas, YOU need to grow up and know the facts before making assumptions. He wasn’t at the game due to PERSONAL reasons. It turns out that reason was to be at the hospital for the birth of his child. Some things in life are more important than a football game.
The win wasn’t pretty, but considering what happened to Ok.St, Oregon, and Okl this weekene, I’ll take the ugly win all day long.
Congrats to Coach Richt and the Dawgs!!!

He is a Georgia tek fan, and the reason why they lose money on every bowl game is that they haven’t won a Major Bowl since 1955 and have Lost 6 Bowl Games in a Row all less than Major Bowls every 1, so they do not travel well, don’t sell their tickets given them to sell, play on blue turf every year with no TV sets on watching them lose in a bowl game with a payout so small that if the team was in that city, they would lose money going to it themselves.

11 and 3, aka Thomas Brown,
Pretty easy to mouth off after the game is over. News for you genius, UGA won. Not like I had hoped and certainly not like the majority of the fans and pundits predicted, but never the less, they won. Good teams win, even when they are having an off day. You are a perfect example in my opinion of what a person turns into, when their life is one bad day after another. I feel sorry for a person such as yourself, but even more sorry for society, for having to put up with you. A football blog, is about the only place where you can express yourself, because in society, you are not relevant. On a newspaper blog, when you can hide behind typed rhetoric, you can try and make yourself be important by constantly putting down those that disagree with you and pretending you have this or that education and money, but at the end of the day, you still only have yourself and your stupid, self importance that is largely ignored by those around you. I don’t think I will even acknowledge your existence on these blogs anymore, because you are of no consequence in the real world.

“Now as to I Crowell’s , what seems to be continued problems with maturity, I would do this. I would put him on a short leash so to speak. In no unnecessary terms I would let him know, that if he does something stupid one more time,, or chooses not to do the academics required to stay in school, he will need to find a new place to showcase his talents. He has a great deal of athletic ability, but in the end, if he doesn’t straighten up and fly right, he is simply taking down the university where he has a great opportunity to do good and for free. I am sure there is some FCS school in Alabama that would be ready to put him on their team. Heck, with some of the coaches at some of the FBS schools in the SEC, he could probably get enrolled. In the short run it would probably hurt the team, as we are short RB’s, but there should be pride in being allowed to play for UGA, and also a responsibility as well. I don’t want to hear about , “Well, he is young and only a teen”. That is just plain B.S. I am sure that we probably only know the tip of the iceberg, as to how big a pain in the lower intestinal track he has been. Do not go blaming the coaches either. I am sure that they have tried to help him as much as possible. He has had tutors, student guidance counselors as well as support from his fellow players and students. He has chosen to throw it all away in my opinion. I would bet that this is not the first time he has failed a test and most likely not his last. He has the attitude that he doesn’t need to conform to the rules others do, because he was given God given athletic ability. His mom needs to come onto campus and just whip on his butt, and straighten him up a little. He has let down the university, the team and most importantly, himself. There is actually not a lot of upside for him and the football team, unless he straightens himself up. Can he do it? My guess is that we are looking at another Ealey. Maybe CMR just has to cut his losses, recruit another back a lot less of a headache, and look to the future. Thomas would be gone if it were up to me, and Malone would be on the same short leash as Crowell. ”

Question: where are the Fire Richt and Fire Bobo people this weekend? You know the ‘real experts” in football.
Say Georgia wins the SEC championship against whoever. Does that put Georgia in the national championship game? A lot of pretenders lost the last 2 weeks. Georgia has 2 losses but will also have won 11 in a row (the GT win is a gimme). No one else would be able to say that except maybe Houston.

I was at the game yesterday and while it did not go the way that I thought it would, congrats to the Dawgs and CMR! SEC East champs!!!
However, I have to say that I am really concerned with Crowell and it goes beyond the fact that he can’t seem to play an entire game without getting hurt. After we has injured yesterday, he spent the rest of the game on the bench with a few other injured players. He did not cheer on his team, he did not even pay attention to the game. He just sat there with his arms crossed and pouted. During the break between the 3rd and 4th quarters, a female trainer went over to these players and read them the riot act. Although no one could hear what she was saying, appearantly she was a little bothered by the way these players were not pulling for their team. After that, all of them got up and started cheering for the team… except Crowell. He stayed put and did not move.
I think this kid has unbelievable talent, but there is something majorly wrong with is his attitude. It has been a problem since day one with him. Unfortunetly, I think that he may go the way of some of our other highly touted running backs. I pray that I am wrong, but it seems that every week his attitide is questioned. I wish we could tranplant the attitude of that female trainer into Crowell.
And to that trainer, whoever you are, thank you for being the kind of Dawg fan that we should all aspire to be!

It’s funny how no one else in the SEC seems to have a problem winning 9 in a row. This has been the weakest season for the SEC East since the conference was divided in 1992. While everyone else in the East was playing LSU, Alabama, and Arkansas, UGA played Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and Auburn. UGA had the weakest schedule of all in the East. The division title was practically handed to them on a silver platter. Do not look for UGA to be in the top 10 at the end of this season.

11-3/Thomas Brown, we need to hire you to watch over the players to keep them out of trouble. You stay up all night consistently arguing for your Dawgs. That kind of 24 hour determination might come in handy for the program. At least you weren’t up all night on another team’s blog bashing them (kool/crowmuch). That is beyond weird. I would just say this on the game. The D continues to shine, and Murray clearly had a bad game. Don’t forget though, he has been through about 10 TBs over his short career. He knew about CT, and he realized the impact of losing Crowell. Maybe he thought he had to take over, and he was trying *too hard*. His competitive nature is great….usually. I love Harton, but KY was throwing him around like a rag doll. The Dawgs better practice Malcome and K+a bunch really hard. We are down to one scholly TB out of HS. I think we need to remember that it takes time to develop these guys and they need to work with him very hard–talking to him about his attitude and everything else. I still think Malcome can really help us down the stretch, but he has to get better very quickly. He has the ability and build. I thought our play calling could have been more creative. Don’t forget that the line knows the situation, too. The likeliest explanation for our poor O showing is distractions— once again. Suspensions and injuries upset the momentum and confidence that has been doing so much better lately. All my humble opinion.

If you went back and looked at the Boise game and if you really understood football, you could see the Dawgs were not going to be the everyone said they would be at that time. Unfortunately bloggers, AJC writers, ESPN, and the lot always follow a bell cow, their focus is always stuck up the bell cow’s butt, and it is just hard for them to see and to understand anything about football when all they wanted to do was bury a coach and his team
But Dawgs you have two games to set in place who you are. Win those two games, and you will have won 11 in a row. That would be impressive. Time to raise the bar a liitle higher.
And the offensive. Somewhere the Dawgs have to have a consistent break-out back. A QB that is not on for one game or two , and the goes into the toilet with his mind and mechanics.

Whoever comes out of the West to play UGA will undoubtedly have no problem with UGA. Winning the SEC East is bitter-sweet abd those of you who have an ounce of intelligenct know this darn well. It’s like winning the Big East. There is no talent in the Division. Florida almost lost to Furman…Carolina almost lost to Citadel. Heck, even Auburn from the West that we beat down last week almost lost to Samford (all FCS teams). Georgia Southern scored 21 on Bama. I don’t believe we could score 21 on Bama. So, we essentially won the Big East this year. What do we get for it, a one in a million shot at beating LSU…more like an LSU beatdown and National TV embarrassment.

MR probably held him out the rest of the game. WTH is wrong with Thomas? Thomas has been having a great season. Anyone know what rule Thomas violated this go around? Malcome should have gotten more touches against Kentucky. Malcome fumbles one time and MR pulls him out. How many times did Harton fumble? We have to recruit a couple of great backs this year. I give Kentucky all the credit. Kentucky’s defense put pressure on Murray all night. Kentucky confused the dawgs all night. I hope we can fix the problems on offense. Murray was trying to stuff the pass instead of finding the open \WR. Glad to see our punters and kickers have a great night. MR and company can not play like this again. LSU will be ready. illini dawg at 8:47 : “And to think that so many of us wanted to fire Grantham”…
news for you…..your “so many of us” only amount to a very few and a miniscule portion of UGA fans and fewer than that of UGA grads…..please do not imply that the majority of true, intelligent and vast majority of UGA grads, and even non grad fans for that matter, would be so dim witted and uninformed as to think that a real pro, endorsed many times in the past by Saban and other experts, such as Grantham should be fired. Most of you regular contributors here represent so few of the real UGA support base, it is pathetic when you guys think you have any say so or make one iota of difference. There are a few guys here who often make reasonable and salient points. Those guys always make interesting and sometimes humorous comments. There are maybe 5 to 8 of these interesting, reasonable types on here. The rest of you are boring, uninformed and totally unentertaining with your comments. Don’t be so self righteous as to think your mindless convictions are ever considered as worthy of an intelligent person’s consumption. UGA did very well against an SEC opponent, Kentucky, considering they had to use the 4th and 5th string tailbacks, neither of whom had any playing experience in SEC games. Very difficult game to manage and play. Would have been for anyone having been relegated to using 4th and 5th string tailbacks. Get real “11-3″ and the rest of you idiots who are always mindlessly complaining and whining on here. And no, I am not a regular poster, nor do I want to be, but that is not a prerequisite to making an informed observation such as this one. I am a UGA grad and have supported the Dogs for more then the 44 years since I graduated. I don’t go to the games anymore, but I watch them via Sling Box from my home here in Viet Nam. This team can play with anyone because of the stellar defense as long as we don’t have to rely on 4th and 5th stringers at key positions such as tailback. Murray recently had begun to play composed and relaxed until he suddenly had zero run game early in the game; it naturally rattled him a bit early, but then he settled down and got what we needed when we needed it. He will be fine with the starters back in there around him. Go Dogs. And congratulations on the Divisional Title. Beat tech and LSU!!

A few facts about your UGA that you might consider:
1. UGA is the nation’s #1 party school. That means that UGA has the highest number of drunks on campus of all the colleges and universities in the U.S. These drunks keep the Athens-Clarke County jail full, and provide full employment to law enforcement personnel, bail bondsmen, and attorneys. Really something to be proud of, isn’t it.
2. UGA athletes are some of the most illiterate morons in the country. Most of them take remedial studies, which is the stuff that most kids learn by the seventh grade. But not your dummies, who you laughingly call student-athletes. The very few who actually graduate have worthless diplomas in worthless studies that no employer is looking for.
3. Even your fans are trashy, stupid drunks. Take a look at what your campus looks like after a home game, and check the number of DUIs the police issue between Athens and Atlanta after a game.
4. UGA athletes must think that ankle monitoring bracelets are bling, they see so many of them in the locker room.
A really miserable, sorry place, and a huge embarrassment to all Georgians.

Postives: UGA has a great defense with depth. Special teams have played well in the last two games. Walsh maybe over his kicking problems.
In close games you pay more attention to officiating. The first penalities against UGA seemed to be for incidential touching. At one point, I wondered if the same official who called excessive celebrating against A.J. Green was working the game. Guess they wanted to send a message about controling the game.
Never thought UGA would have won 9 consective games. Three things brother me about UGA. Too many questions about the rb situation. Crowell will not make it at UGA, if injuries don’t get him something else will. Thomas is a junior and doesn’t read or believe the “rule book”. Rb position has to be one of the toughtest positions. You either hit or get hit nearly every play. K. King is NOT a “go-to-receiver”. Murray and the coaches started going to Charles after King somehow managed to missed 3 or 4 passes (some were bad throws via Murray). Murray maybe the best qb in the conference, but can he find a way to win against a good opponent?…not much evidence that he can. About decided the coaches earn their money.

UGA, You Really Have Nothing To Brag About
November 20th, 2011
9:45 am
Let’s face it, it’s a proud day for Georgia. We are finally sending a team to resprent us in the SEC Championship, but seriously, that is nothing to brag about. Especially in a season where the SEC East has been at its weakest moment since the conference was divided into East and West in 1992. Let’s take a look at the overall season for UGA.
While UGA played Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and Auburn from the west, the other East teams faced LSU, Alabama, and Arkansas during their season. Overall, UGA had the weakest schedule out of everyone in the East. South Carolina played Arkansas, Florida played both LSU and Alabama (back to back), Tennessee had the toughest, they played Alabama, Arkansas, and LSU, Vanderbuilt played Alabama and Arkansas, and even Kentucky played LSU.
I have had to laugh at some of the fans. They are running around bragging about how the team had 9 straigh victories. This is your first time since 1980, not exactly something to brag about. That is a normal season for Florida, LSU, Alabama and recently South Carolina. For teams like Auburn, Arkansas, and Tennessee it’s expected and a goal.
The other false statement I heard from the talking heads at UGA. UGA is going to the SEC Championship for the 4th time in the last 10 years, more than any other SEC school. If LSU beats Arkansas this coming Saturday, it will be their 5th trip in the last 10 years. Let’s go ahead and look at the history of the SEC Championship, Florida OWNS it. Florida has been 10 times and won 7, Alabama 7 times with 3 wins, Tennessee 5 times with 2 win, LSU 4 (working on their 5th) with 3 wins, Auburn 4 trips with 2 wins, Arkansas is 0-3, South Carolina and Mississippi State are 0-1. UGA has been 3 times with 2 wins.
Of all the trips to the SEC Championship, Florida has 3 National Titles, Alabama and LSU have 2 National Titles, Tennessee and Auburn have 1 National Title. UGA’s highest ranking after winning the SEC Championship has been #4. This year, UGA will be lucky to break the top 10, even if they manage to pull off an upset over whichever SEC West team they face. Of course they still have to face Georgia Tech.
Let’s face it, Georgia Tech is no push over. Both UGA and Georgia Tech have had inconsistancies in their play this season (more so with Tech). This coming Saturday’s game is going to depend on who shows up. If UGA comes out like they did against Kentucky, it’s going to be a very long day for them. If Tech comes out like they did against Miami, it’ll be a long day for Tech. If they both show up, it’ll be the State of Georgia’s version of the LSU – Alabama game. If they both come out sour (UGA – Kentucky, and Tech – Miami), expect UGA to drop in the polls. Of course if UGA loses to Tech, UGA will not crack the top 10, even if they beat the SEC West representative.

Techy fans – look at the late season standings – top 3 teams all SEC, 4 in the top ten, followed by GA. 5 teams in the top 15. Tech plays in a pony league, and does not even play well in it. Perhaps you can lead the nation in Basket Engineering.

What did UGA have to do to get to the Championship. You beat a very weak division. A 6-5 Florida Team, a 5-6 Vanderbuilt, 5-6 Tennessee, 4-7 Kentucky, 7-4 Auburn, 5-6 Mississippi State, and a 2-9 Ole Miss. It’s equivalent to Boise State’s schedule. So yes, we have nothing to brag about by getting a trip that is 40 miles from home.

Did anybody hear the inadvertant whistle on the last play of the Vandy/Tenn game? Play should have been blown dead the minute the inadvertant whistle was blown. That kills all reviews. I was pulling for Tenn, but who is to say that some Vandy players didn’t pull up when they heard the whistle. You could see and hear the ball being marked down on the replay.

It feels great to be back in the SEC Championship game! That said, it has been a not-entirely-satisfying road to that goal. We lost to the two very good teams we played, playing terribly against Boise St. and dominating SC (giving up devastating big plays, losing in the end to SC). The rest of our schedule (that we went 9-0 on) turned out to be loaded with mediocre or poor SEC teams (still better than most) and two gimmes out-of-conference. It is always great to beat Florida, though, and we pounded the pretty-good team from the West, Auburn. We caught a huge break, though, by not having to play any of the three clearly best-in-the-SEC teams from the West, and as it turns out, the three best teams in the country. But now, we will get a chance to accomplish something important (beating Tech) and something truly incredible, if we can pull it off, by beating whoever wins the West. Personally, I would like it to be an unbeaten and untied LSU but any of those three would be very special, and finally prove just how good this UGA team is (or can be).
Go Dawgs!

I’m really glad for CMR and Granthem, not so much for Bobo. But I am soooo disappointed in Crowell. He is a QUITTER. So you tweak an ankle. Most players would be walking around loosening it up to get back in. Crowell was content STANDING and LAUGHING with teammates on the sideline. I wanted to.punch him out. TV caught it all on tape and I suspect that coached got word and made him sit down. Can you imagine Murray, Stafford, Pollack quitting? I don’t want him on my team. CMR should suspend him and cut him loose. He has no HEART and very little character.!!!!

The Program and the majority of it’s fan base doesn’t care about becoming a National Program. They are contempt with beating 3 teams. When you guys do get to the SEC Championship it’s the Second Coming. When you guys can put together a program that can put up a challenge for the National Title, you can compare yourselves to programs like Alabama, UF, AU, UT, and LSU.

Yea – UGA has really done something “special”. And CMR patting himself on the back saying “it’s hard to win 9 games in a row” – Yea, it only depends who you played. UGA only played and beat the worst teams in the SEC – Just look at the combined conference records of the teams UGA beat – and most those teams UGA just barely beat.
Ole Missy 0-7
Missery St 1-7 (only win against 1-7 KY Jellies)
TN 1-7 (only win vs 2-6 Vandi – in OT),
Vandi 2-6 (only wins against 0-7 Ole Missy and 1-7 KY Jellies
KY Jellies 1-7 (only win against 0-7 Ole Missy)
FL Fakers – 3-5 (only wins agastin 1-7 TN, 1-7 KY Jellies, and 2-6 Vandi)
The COMBINED SEC record of these 6 teams is a PATHETIC 8-39. And then top is off with your toothless non-SEC games against the “mighty (not) Coastal Carolina and NMS.
And you dawg fans are HAPPY and PROUD of yourselves for this???
You guys haven’t played anybody – and you nearly lost to all 6 of the above teams.
I would like to see what happened to your team if you had to play Arkansas (like SC had to) or AL or LSU. But of course you STILL LOST against SC and were embarrassed on national TV against BSU – who even TCU beat.
But the only reason you guys won the SEC East is because the other teams you beat sucked a lot more than you guys – it’s that simple.

61-39-5, let em’ talk that stupid @#$% all they want. Everyone in the conference has schedules like this every once in a while. UF had it made the last time they won it all and STILL lost to a bad Ole Miss team. UGA had a tougher schedule this year than they had that year by playing Boise. According to Vegas, UGA will have a much tougher time getting 11 in a row!
As of Sunday, Todd Fuhrman, the senior race and sports analyst for Caesars Entertainment in Las Vegas, projected that Alabama would be favored by 12 points, LSU by 10.5 points and Arkansas by 5 points in potential matchups against Georgia on Dec. 3 in the Georgia Dome.
Meanwhile, Georgia opened Sunday as a 5.5-point favorite over Georgia Tech for Saturday’s game at Bobby Dodd Stadium, according to vegasinsider.com.
Anyone else notice that Alabama is a bigger odds game than LSU?

SEC did indeed sweep the Consensus in all polls 1-2-3. LSU AL ARK.
We play them after Georgia tek who did make the polls for the last time this season. So at game time, they are a ranked team, despite the blow-out of the Climpsum Farmers yesterday.
UGA is # 13 in the polls, having beat no one. South Carolina is ahead of us, except in the AP Poll. And, Auburn made neither the AP Poll Top 25 nor the Coaches’ Poll Top 25 AGAIN, and the BCS ranking they got at # 23 will fade quickly too after Bama hands their hat to them as well for Loss # 5 before the bowl games.
The other conferences have to be just absolutely beside themselves that The SEC West is # 1, # 2 and # 3 in EVERY SINGLE SOLITARY POLL today.

Preston,
How do you figure the # 13 team in the nation with The SEC West having 3 teams ranked ahead of us and South Carolina ranked ahead of us too, and The SEC West with Auburn # 24 in the BCS Poll tonight, 6 SEC Teams in the BCS Top 25, with us # 5 of the 6 ranked SEC teams, will play for the MNC if we beat LSU ?
Forget the statement you make that if we win against LSU.
We are going to play for the MNC according to Preston just now.
Being a HOMER is one thing, but to make such a statement after what I witnessed yesterday at Sanford, a game before we play LSU who has beat both # 10 Oregon and # 2 Alabama while we have beat no one and done all of them unimpressively except Auburn, is going to win you the Award yet again : DISNEYdawgs.com

This makes absolutely NO SENSE. I am so glad that the Big XII has broken itself up from this continued voting as a BLOCK for their OWN Big XII schools, clearly in violation of what they KNOW is RIGHT. Enjoy this last season of that, Big XII – the dead last WORST CONFERENCE EVER in the history of college football at winning their bowl games after their OVER-INFLATED RANKINGS because every Big XII team ranks EVERY OTHER BIG XII team the # 4 team in the nation, or HIGHER to raise the Big XII up before they play a REAL TEAM and get their collective hats handed to them. There is NO WAY that a Big XII team could possibly be sending their champion to play The SEC Champion – no way.

They don’t really have any advantage other than our bi-polar offense. They are heavily reliant on the run. I don’t see them with much success there with our quick defense and our secondary should have a field day if they attempt many passes. Always a difficult game to prognosticate but, the kicking game and special teams could loom large

Georgia tek’s run game is vs # 2 in the nation Rushing Defense we have. It is the 2nd most poor match-up Georgia tek could possibly hope for in its last game of the regular season.
Georgia tek is # 119 of 120 teams in Passing Offense and that is where we are most vulnerable. In the meantime, Georgia tek is # 72 in the nation Rushing defense themselves clearly not happy with Al Groh. They have ZERO DEFENSE, at # 43 Total Defense playing a FAR WEAKER SCHEDULE than even we have. Our Total Defense is # 4 playing a tougher schedule than Georgia tek.
# 107 in kick-off returns and # 64 in punt returns, Georgia tek has no advantage over us in Special Teams. In fact Georgia tek has no advantage over anyone in special teams. Their Scoring Defense is # 56; while ours is # 16 and that because our inept offense with all the players missing all season long from the offense and now graduating the senior-laden OL after this season, our O gives up points charged to our Defense.
They are # 75 in the nation at making sacks.
This is a NON-GAME. Georgia tek is ranked for the 1st time in forever now at # 23 in the BCS and # 25 in the AP Poll, because the teams ahead of them lost, including notably their only good win over Climpsum Farmers who were blown-out of the water yesterday by a LOUSY NC STATE who even with the “win” is only 1 game over .500 now with just 1 game remaining in their “season.” Of course, Climpsum Farmers also lost to a sorry Georgia tek team whose only claim to fame is beating them.
Meanwhile a LOUSY VIRGINIA and a LOUSY MIAMI OF FLORIDA team among OTHERS, has already beat Georgia tek.
Georgia tek having not won a Major Bowl since 1955, has lost 6 consecutive bowl games, all non-major bowls against poor teams with no one watching Georgia tek LOSE.
Georgia tek is a sorry football program who cannot graduate their recruits, and who are 1-9 vs our coach, and this is totally because they concede this state to UGA in recruiting where we average the # 7 recruiting class EVERY SINGLE SOLITARY YEAR while Georgia tek ranks # 51 in the nation in recruiting downtown in the slums in city of 6 million, were WE buy their nerd season tickets for this game only and throw the rest away.

The Real Aaron Murray has stepped forward.
Consistently inconsistent. Plays his WORST football against any team who ends up in the Top 25, and has his worst plays at the worst possible moment in all those games.
9 fumbles, 9 interceptions and 23 sacks against this cupcake schedule. He is too small. He is NOT Drew Brees. He runs up his stats vs cupcakes like Georgia tek and will AGAIN this season.
Georgia tek not having any run defense means whoever we put out there will do great behind this best OL we’ve had since 2002. Don’t let the sacks and the Aaron Murray for Heisman fans fool you, those are on Aaron Murray for his poor footwork, his improper mechanics, his slow foot-speed at 4.7 with SEC DL FASTER than he as you have seen since he got on this campus December 2008 practicing with us for our bowl game 2008. Against the lousiest of opponents, he lets some of them beat us too. Those LOSSES are on Aaron Murray. 9 games the opposing QB on the field head-to-head have ALREADY been BETTER than Aaron Murray. This isn’t one of those games with Georgia tek’s Tevin Washington the # 60 QB the same year as Aaron Murray took this offer. Tevin also had offers from Troy and Alabama A & M. He completes 48 percent of his passes, but has MORE RUSHING YARDS THAN ISAIAH CROWELL. He chose Georgia tek despite the fact that Georgia tek is on NCAA PROBATION back-to-back in FOOTBALL. Our Defense will have a field day vs him.

Saturday was a perfect example of what i have been saying about UGA. They were dog lucky to beat an awful Kentucky team. Their only TD was after a mighty 11 yard drive. Folks, assuming LSU continues to play like the #1 team in the country, Aaron Murray and company will have a tough time movung on the best D they have seen all season. Murray will not have those 5+ seconds to hunt a receiver. LSU will be all over him. After 4 or 5 hits by the D and the prima dona that is Crowell will be gone, leaving no running game, therefore, no offense. You do know he recently stated that he did not want to play unless he was 100%. Real team player there!! After saying all that, I will say that the puppy dogs do have a chance to win, because the game will be decided on the field. Their chance is just very small.

Easy to explain…in ‘07, all UGA had to do was beat a mediocre S. Carolina team or a Tennessee team that LSU beat to win the SEC and guess what?? They could not get the job done. LSU was clearly a better team, even with those 2 losses, and the sooner you let’s live in the past, delusional fans forget about it and get over it, the better off you will be.
The reason people are talking LSU, Bama, or possibly Arkansas in the NC is because those 3 teams are CLEARLY better than anyone else, SEC or nationally. Deal with it, get over it, and realize you will not be in a BCS game this season.

Same answer. Oklahoma did one year. The BCS should be about finding the best team. In this case the best teams are in the SEC. Duh. @VA Dog, if you cannot understand that, I really have to question your ability to understand the simple things. Let me restate this maybe a little simpler… IF LSU, ALABAMA, and/or ARKANSAS are the 3 best teams this season, then 2 of them should play for the BCSNC. Let me also state this and be please read this carefully…. One of those 3 teams WILL WIN THE SEC THIS SEASON.
