My video report from Sanford Stadium after Georgia’s 45-7 win over Auburn. The Bulldogs improved to 8-2, 6-1 SEC. The defending national champion Tigers fell to 6-4, 4-3.

The Bulldogs certainly looked good against Auburn. Good, I think, even if Auburn wasn’t very good.
The Georgia squad made a many good, showcase plays, and had a complete team effort besides. There weren’t many mistakes, and even Bobo did a much better job.
Impressive? Yes, indeed.
Let’s not be too quick though to anoint Mark Richt.
Winning this year’s SEC East won’t make our Georgia Bulldogs the dominant, nationally competitive team many of us would like to see Georgia become. To do that we have to be a team which starts the season (relatively) strong. That will take some real coaching!
Not to say that Mr. Richt has not demonstrated some real coaching capacity, because he has. Under the gun, he has come through, at least relative to some recent years. There’s been a lot of improvement, and he deserves a good portion of credit.
That credit should be balanced with acknowledgment of his responsibility for the failures under his coaching tenure, too, last season being a prime example. If he had done as well early on, as he has in the last couple of games, we might very well be at the top of the heap, instead of maybe fixing to win the weak East.
Maybe Mark Richt needs to be under the gun. If so, let’s keep him in that position, as our team is now performing very well.
I’d love to see us beat LSU, or maybe Arkansas, or Alabama, and I think it a distinct possibility, but we’ve got to dominate Kentucky first. Then there are the NATS bugs in bad need of a whipping, good practice to make ourselves ready for the SEC Championship.
Okay, Coach Richt, let’s see if you can pull it off!
Go, Georgia Bulldogs!

Clearly UGA football has turned the corner and is on the way back up. In this league, all you can ask for is a chance to win every game. I feel like we can now say we have a shot at every team we play.

How does UGA stomp Auburn like that and drop a spot in the USA Today poll? How does SC jump us? Any guesses?

Me either kydawg, I thought the Dawgs would be about 11th in the AP after losses by Penn St., Stanford and Boise. Boise St. should have dropped out of the top ten in my opinion.
Number four in total defense in the country is pretty impressive, this defense is just starting to really to put it together.

The turning point of this game was the 3rd play. We got a significantly favorable spot to get a first down and we never looked back. Had we gone 3 and out and gotten down by 7, who knows what would’ve happened. I am excited to play LSU and/or Alabama, but we need to take care of business this weekend against Kentucky. Take nothing for granted.

Hey 69 grad, did you “anoint” Dooley as a great coach ? I think he was, yet his winning pecentage was only 70%. Richt’s is 75% so far, and has a better record than Vince over the same time span. So when do you decide he’s worth anointing ? I believe it took Vince 16 years before he won his first ( and only ) national title. Was he anointable before then ? Give Richt some credit, not just for this year, but for his body of work.

listen up UGA fans. Stop looking for any Auburn blog fan’s. They are non-existance today. ALL that MOUTH and GUT wind you heard before the Saturday’s behined the WOODSHEAD A$$ beating, you want find them TODAY. They don’t want to hear it. It appears the so called mighty Auburn football team that show up in Athens should be charged with Impersonating a football team. You make the call. GREAT WIN…………Go Dawgs.

Auburn Florida and Tennessee all the way back to 1980, combined to have 16 losses only in 1980, 15 losses in 1981 2001 and 2008, 14 losses only in 2002.
Auburn Florida and Tennessee project to 20 Losses combined this season.

Figures that Thomas Brown would still complain.
What do you want dude?
Good lord that was a beatdown of a ranked team that has won more in our stadium versus us than we have versus them.
They were confident with their QB just having thrown 4 TD’s in a game and their running game has been off the chart.
We completely stuffed them.
Then after building a big lead, we ran it down their throats.
What exactly do you want if you aren’t satisfied with that??????

Now that Murray has beaten a ranked team, what’s the next complaint against him?
Great game! Would have liked to see Mason and some of the freshman OL play a little more for the experience. Hopefully they will get some game time this weekend. Was good to see Malcome get some carries even if it was just a dive up the middle.

————————
The way the team has been playing though, they were down in Auburn territory and CMR probably would have gone for it on 4th anyway as has been the trend lately. Especially since at worst, it would have been 4th and 4 inches

Murray is one of the toughest QB’s I’ve seen. Last year, Fairley cut Murrays chin with his facemask, speared him in the back with his helmet, and then tried to break his leg with his helmet. If you doubt this, see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGB1xguTXLg And did you see the hit this year, where Murray was flipped? In spite of all this, Murray played one heck of a game! Congrats to Murray, Richt, Grantham, and the entire UGA team for the best game I’ve seen in tha last 3 years.

You see Lex, the people who are NON UGA fans but pose as fans, such as “Thomas Brown” will never be satisfied. They said “Murray has never beaten a team with a winning record”, did that. Then it was “Georgia can’t beat Florida”, did that. Then “Murray can’t beat a ranked team”, did that too. UGA held Michael Dyer and Onterio McCalebb to under 80 yards COMBINED! So they can keep hatin’ and CMR will keep winning and I will keep smiling and laughing at the football ignorant.

Here’s the deal. There are two Thomas Browns. One was a UGA running back who, “pound for pound,” was one of the strongest players we ever had, as well as a damn good dog! Then, you have the other one, that seems to have crawled back into the outhouse, where he belongs! lol

We are not supposed to hold Mark Richt accountable for the schedule that has seen, for example, Auburn Florida and Tennessee have not lost 16 games combined in any season of the last 30 years, and stand at 15 today before Auburn loses to Alabama ?
He can only play the schedule he has.
But, we are to GIVE Mark Richt a RAISE and a CONTRACT EXTENSION based upon these worst teams in 31 years he is beating ?
Wholly preposterous.

PETA is in Athens, Ga this morning investigating the public abuse of rare but expensive cats.
The $cam cheetah is valued at $200,000 (cash street value of course), Sources say the abuse was televised, and that many eyewitnesses looked on and laughed at the abuse.

The 12 disorderly conduct arrests of Auburn fans in Athens Saturday will cost a total of about $200,000 in fines and damage.
You think Auburn has a bag-man with alumni money on his way to help you out, jailbirds? I mean, they can just give it to your daddies, and you can say you didn’t know ’bout it and all

So your mind is already made up that no matter what UGA and Richt does, he should be fired, and we should do that in the middle of the season? We should disregard all the positives, which include a very, very, good recruiting class last year, making changes to the coaching staff, such as hiring Grantham, and replacing the strength coach, and winning 8 games in a row? What if UGA wins out, would it take a victory over LSU, or whoever the West champion is, to change your mind? Would even a close competive, well played, game do it, or maybe a solid bowl performance? Do you really feel like there are no positives to build on, or have you just basically given up? What about Auburn? Last year they won the NC, but since they got drummed this past weekend, should their coach be replaced? After all, Chizik’s overall record as a head coach is 33-28. Richt’s record is 104-36. You do the math.

CMR does NOT make the schedule .. and the schedule is made years in advance. Not to mention, are they supposed to drop UF, UT, MSU, and the likes just because they aren’t playing up to their usual selves (MSU not withstanding .. they have a good year every now and then)? It’s the worst argument on here right now, but the idiots keep bringing it up.

You really need to get your head in for xray. There has to be a huge chunk of lead in that melon you fathom to call a brain. Worst display of sportsmanship on any level. Do yu like to hunt? Call Dick Cheney and ask him to take you. He knows a really great spot!

No, Richt contract extention will not, nor should be, tied to any particular game/opponent. That’s never how any AD operates in the simplistic form. The only relavance that those particular wins have is that they factor in the almost certainty that he will be retained as Head Football Coach at the University of Georgia. So in keeping with the realities of the sport these days, he must operate with a long term contract to recruit and run the program going forward and his salary should be competitve with the going rates for an SEC HC.
You are welcome.

Keep in mind, this is the only game against a good team, where Georgia played well in all 3 phases. And the punt game stunk again. But offense and defense shined against a #24 ranked team, not big competition, but a solid win. Like to see how UGA measures up against LSU.
